My system: - MSI z170a Gaming M5 - i7 6700k - Corsair H100i - 2x8GB RAm DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX - Corsair PSU RMi 650 w Gold. - RX 6650 XT 8GB Last week my 7 years old rig froze while gaming for the first time. Coincidentally, I upgraded my GPU 3 weeks ago, which brought me some trouble but I managed to had it all, apparently, working stably for over 2 weeks. While I initially thought it could be GPU related, I later discovered it was RAM related (reseating them helped to make it boot). Yet a memtest passed with no errors whatsoever. Also, I tried clearing the CMOS, disconnecting all sata and m2 devices, even a new PSU. Now it turns out PC will no longer boot with 2 sticks of RAM in slot #2 and #4, and error code "00-4C-55-0d-30" shows up on the debug led. However, one stick works on slot #2, and even two on slots #1 and #2, but slots #3 and #4 won't. All old threads on the internet I am retrieving regarding the same debug error indicate it's a memory issue due to bent pins. But I am unable to see any on my socket. I attached some photos of my socket pins and the mobo's backside. Looks fine to me. Did I miss anything? What else would you suggest me to try? Thank you in advance. Update: if it helps, I am also attaching videos of the error. video5895293185894125985.mp4 But, with 1 RAM stick installed works: video5895293185894125984.mp4

Hey guys. Yesterday I cleaed my PC and reapplied some thermal paste and took out my i7 8700k. After puttig everything back tgr it showed me on the "Ez debugging LEDs" DRAM and CPU. Then I replugged the RAM and the cpu. After that only the CPU LED is showing an error. Checked the cables and repluggend and controlled the pc in general.Therwe is a bit left of some thermal paste at the bottom left, maybe theres something bent. Or is it the paste? It only boots without any display output or indication of functioning except for the fans and RGB. Everything was working before and I didnt replug anything. Its probably a bent cpu pin rather than a dead CPU but I cant see any bent Pins. I tried my best to take some pictures I attaxched here. Would be really happy to still use this still pretty capable machine. Cant even get a z370 atm. Thank ou already! I recently moved across the globe and bent a couple of my Ryzen 5950X pins. I followed a tutorial to bend them back and the PC is working fine but I have been getting a few issues in Chrome and the odd bluescreen. What is the best way to stress test my machine to see if it is stable after the repair? I have ran Furmark + Prime95 simultaneously for an hour but not sure if they are the right tools or for long enough

As the title says, A friend has purchased a new AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, upgrading from their old Ryzen 5 1600. They, however, forgot to update the BIOS before switching prossessors. This wouldn't be an issue if they hadn't then dropped the 1600, bending multiple pins. After trying to bend the pins back, he was able to get it to go into the MOBO (with force), and post, but only had access to Windows for about 15 seconds before it shut down. He is concidering buying a new MOBO, but doesn't really have the money. Is the CPU salvageable? Is the only option left either bring it to someone with a 1st gen Ryzen processor or buy a new MOBO. He has stated if he needs to bring it to a tech / someone else who he would pay to update it for him, he will just go buy a new MOBO. Thanks for the help.

Hello everyone, I've been searching threads about bent pins here and from reddit and I can't find the answer I'm quite looking for. So here it is, the motherboard I got has a bent pin and I'm not that sure if it really is a bent pin or not. I was able to build my PC without straightening the pin and the CPU just fitted well on the socket and was able to assemble the PC just fine. The PC booted up was able to detect all the parts and was able to install OS on it, I only used Asus armoury-create to check the CPU, RAM, Fans, etc.. and everything seems normal or the problem has not occurred yet. I've got some few questions and I hope I can get it here. Here it goes: a. Should I bother to straighten the pin on the CPU socket or is it fine if I'll leave it as it is. b. Is there going to be a problem in the future if I wont fix the bent pin? c. What indicators should I look to prevent further damage to my PC. Thank you very much for reading!

CPU - Intel i7 12700k Motherboard - ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-E Gaming wifi Last week I went to upgrade my CPU cooler from a 2 fan to a 3 fan. When taking the CPU out to clean off the old thermal paste, I discovered two bent pins on the motherboard. I put in the new cpu cooler, put everything back together and was getting an error code 55, "Memory not installed" and the system would not post. I opened it back up and attempted to re-bend the pins back into position, then put it all back together and my system is working. However, I have noticed a few things while gaming that weren't happening before. Rainbow Six Siege is stuttering, normal framerates are around 144, but now it drops to around 30 a few times per match. In Call of Duty: Warzone, I had a few matches where the hud and crosshairs were all there but everything else was black. There was also a match where there were a lot or reds, greens, and flashing bright lights. I have never seen either of those things happen before and its suspicious to me that it happens right after re-bending the pins back in place. After that night, I shut my pc down and have not turned it on since. My question is, if I am experiencing issues from the pins, could continued usage of my PC cause damage to the CPU, RAM, or even the GPU? Am I over-worrying or should I just get it serviced/replaced from warrant ASAP and not use my PC until I do so?

Hello, I was wondering if someone might know whats going on with my motherboard and how to fix it. I got a Gigabyte GA-H87N-WiFi (rev. 1.1) used on craigslist for cheep because it had a few bent pins. I was able to bend the pins back using a dental pick under a magnifying glass. However it is not posting and when I turn it on and the cpu and chassis fans turn on and off together every few seconds. I have tried a known good stick of ram in each dimm slot and am using a known good cpu, psu, and monitor. with nothing else plugged in. I knew I might be eating the cost when I bought it but thought I would check here before throwing it out. One of the pins was bent under another pin and I suspect it might be the problem as it is still slightly twisted so the pad on the cpu would only make contact with the edge of the pin instead of the full surface of the pin head. Thanks in advance :)

I recently found some bent pins on my motherboard socket I have fixed them as well as I possibly can and put the cpu in. Just to check that they hadn't bent again I took the cpu out and they had. this process keeps repeating and I cannot get the cpu in without the pins bending again. Gigabyte say the warranty is void so I cant send it back any suggestions? its a gigabyte z170 gaming k3

Greetings, So i recently swapped my i5 7600k to a 6700 (ty hsuk) and ever since my pc wont boot into windows, wether its from my ssd, or a live usb. The cycle is as follows: Power on, posts fine, i see spinning dots indicating windows is loading then the dots freeze, enters bluescreen which has one of the following stop codes (they change every boot): System thread exception not handled IRQL arent less than equal KMODE exception And a few others i can't remember. Pic of socket (before i fixed it) : My specs: Im running latest version of bios, all hardware is detected in bios fine, i seen bent pin on socket though fixed it and still same error, Ive ran out of ideas though the seller said I can return the i7 and see if its my mobo or the cpu is defective. So any ideas on what to do in meantime? Many thanks for your help Patrick

AMD CPU pins bent inside socket due to impact
Jogi6 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So, I was asked to check a pc that was damaged by some sort of impact during shipping So as long as i'm working with Computers i've never seen one of this. And i'm not sure if it's even possible Apperently a AMD chip pins were bent inside a socket maybe becouse of impact. And the impact was massive. CPU cooler was dangling, and my first thought was that he was unlatched, but then I saw Motherboard has bent. Next i've taken the cpu out of the socket and noticed that pins in one corner (top left corner where the gold arrow is) are slightly bent. And the CPU is going smoothly in and out of socket, but on the other boards cpu can't sit in socket. And i can't believe that CPU socket is also bent somehow. As i sad the impact was massive GPU dented a heat pipe by hitting the FCH (chipset) cooler. What is your opinion on bent pins??? -
Starting my new build, I looked at the socket and it looks as if some of the pins are bent to the side. I got a ASROCK B360 Pro4, I've only ever built with AMD so I'm not sure if this is normal. Haven't even opened anything yet besides the motherboard so better safe then sorry to ask for your opinions first. They look ever so slightly bent to the right, is this normal? https://imgur.com/gallery/o6m4Zjd

I bought a Z370-A pro motherboard, 2 pins of the processor chipset bent , and when i turned it on (I didnt know about the pins) my power supply died (600W).... I "fixed" the pins but now Im afraid to try to check if it (board) works because I dont want to damage another power supply... ¿Were the pins the problem, or should I be worried of something else? ty :d

Hello All, I am new to the LTT Forum but frequently watch all the LMG videos etc. on youtube. I will make use as few words as possible to describe my issue and i'm hoping there are creative solutions, as i currently can't figure out the best. -I am trying to make a computer for my friend to game on. -I have an old MOBO that is 6700K compatible (I forget the socket type 1151 maybe?) -The Board functions perfectly EXCEPT the 1x PCIE-16 slot. -I use to have a salt lamp on top of my PC - and long and behold in the summer it starts to sweat and it eventually made its way into the PCIE pins and BLAM its Fawked now (tried cleaning and fixing pins too much corrosion. -Is there any other way to salvage this MOBO by using another methodology to hook up a GPU to it? If so, I can build my friend a machine with this board. (also there is no discrete Display I/O on the Mobo) Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hello. Guys I need help. I bought Rampage IV Extreme (Just for fun time and overclock). The guy send me picture of socket. Everything look fine so i bought it, but at home after close inspection i notice something weird about socket. If you look from one side all pins are nice and shiny, but if you look from oposit side there is little dark spot. So i took board at work we have microscope there and we check it. And we found out that one pin has missing golden head (i am sorry i dont know how to say it better). So it's not bend so i can't try to fix it. I tried put electrical tape on CPU and put it into socket and close it, after i remove it from socket i check the tape and i can see that there is little mark so there should be contact but its not that big mark as the others pin of course.I tried power it and everything looks fine. All 4x4 GB are detected XMP works (in red slots didn't tried black), i check all PCIe slots and they work at correct speed. I tried find pin diagram to check what is purpose of that broken pin, but didn't find any nice one like you could find for 1151. So what i find it looks like that pin is for DDR1_DQ[16]. And i absolutely don't know what is that supposed to be. Should i be worried? Currently i have 3930k and i was planning to get some 4xxx K cpu. I have sticky copper tape and i was wondering if i could try put few little pieces on that specific pin on CPU side so there is bigger height and that could bring better contact That CPU socket and pin description are from intel datasheet from this Reddit post Thanks

I just built my first PC last week. No issues with the build itself but my cpu temps were 60 deg on idle and would reach 90+ deg every time I would game or do my programming tasks. I planned on replacing the thermal paste so I unscrewed the stock cooler but it would come off. Tried twisting and just pulled it and ripped the cpu out with the cooler. I now have some bent pins and was asking if AMD repairs these types of issues. Even if I have to pay for it.

So basically i let my friend borrow my CPU cooler for a little and when he returned it and I reinstalled it my PC wouldnt post. I think it was on really tight so I reinstalled it again properly and it still wont post. What happens is I get ZERO error lights on my MoBo, my GPUs fans twitch every 5 or 6 seconds, and all the fans spin fine aside from the GPU. I have tried a seperate PSU just incase it was dead to no avail. I believe it is bent CPU socket pins, but Im not sure. I've tried reinstalling my CPU tons of times and still to no avail. Anyone else ever have a similar problem who can help me? All wires are secure and UNCHANGED prior to the problem. No post to the MoBo onboard graphics either unfourtunately. Thanks all for reading. i5 6500 Z170 Pro Gaming 1070 SC 8GB CX 500 Frio Silent 12

My friend was building his first computer and when he powered it up, the fans spun but there was no display output, and there was no beep from the motherboard speaker. We were taking a look at it, and it turns out there are at least 4 bent pins in the motherboard socket. None of them seem completely broken, but they are certainly bent. Would this be a really difficult/impossible repair, or could we attempt it ourselves and have a chance of making it work? Also, do you think Gigabyte would accept an RMA for bent pins? It's an H110M-A that only cost about $50, so an expensive repair wouldn't be worth it. Thanks!

Hello dear enthusiasts, I am reaching for help in this great community for I have bought a 2nd hand system from a friend (specs in the bottom of the post) and I also had received another motherboard - Z270-A Prime - from a friend, who has bent it's pins and instead of trashing it he did gave it to me for free. After attempting to bend back the pins and putting the whole system together everything was detected and the system worked like a charm even when stress testing with OCCT on normal settings. However, after doing a linpack test I noticed some stutters when the test was running, the whole OS would hang from 5s to sometimes a minute the solution being to mash control+alt+delete and to stop the test. The issue was reproduced on a normal OCCT stress test but with small data fft (which I know is dangerous). Later I had found out that an easier way to reproduce the issue is to start playing any TV series on HBO Nordic (flash video player) where I can see the cursor mildly stuttering. No issue in gaming, however. I have run a Windows Memory diagnostic on XMP 3000Mhz and Stock2133Mhz, no issues there. I also had updated the BIOS to the latest. Changed the video card. Reattempt to wiggle the pins. Overclock. Same problem. I also have the initial mobo a Z170 MSI Gaming M5 that I can replace this with but I would rather sell it to recover some of the money that I had spent on the new system System details: CPU: Core i7 6700k GPU: GTX 1080 FE Memory: Vengeance LPX 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Mobo: Asus Z270-A Prime/ Originally came with MSI Z170 Gaming M5 SSHD: Seagate 1TB SSD: Samsung 950 PRO 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD PowerSupply: CoolerMaster G750M Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R Also is 1400 USD a fair price for the above config giving the fact that it was 2nd hand and I live in EU? 1st, do you think it's because of the bent pins? 2nd should I attempt to disassemble and try the repair again? 3rd should I give-up and replace my mobo with the Gaming M5? 4th any other debugging ideas?

So I have one of the most insane computer stories ever! I got a computer with nearly half of the CPU pins bent, in almost every direction. I tired to unbend the pins and accidentally broke off six of the pins. I have found only a hand few of stories where someone managed to use a CPU with a single broken pin, much less six! However, when I tired to power up the system it worked! I even made a video for proof: I was curious if anyone else had heard of other stories like this, or if this is just a beyond lucky find?

I need a way to convince my parents that MSI won't fix my motherboard with bent pins (long story). It would be a waste of time and money to RMA it to them (two weeks without my PC it two long). My dad thinks that I'll get another RMA miracle like I did with the CEO of Nvidia. He doesn't realize that they can't even test the freaking motherboard with a CPU... or know that my initial issue (nothing to do with pins) even exists. The whole thing would be a complete loss for them and replacing the chipset would be impossible (or way too expensive).
