troubleshooting [Solved] Inconsistent crashes
VoiceOS posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
finally decided to make an account and ask people here for help, because I'm out of ideas myself. I do work in IT but my field is networking, not PC hardware, so if you have any ideas, I'm probably adept at implementing them, if pointed to instructions. The Problem: I've built a new PC earlier this year and I've had weird problems with it ever since I built it. The parts were bought at different shops, it wasn't a prebuilt. Applications like games and sometimes even individual Firefox tabs crash sometimes, and I'm unable to reproduce it, even when doing the exact same things after a reboot. Sometimes Games are unable to be started again after crashing once, happened with F1 2020/Borderlands 3/Minecraft and some other, less well known games. The F1 2020 crash was the weirdest, as that one crashed only once but was then crashing every time with a bugsplat, as soon as it got to the initial loading screen. Error Messages include but are not limited to: BL3: Low Level Fatal Error MC: Exception_Access_Violation 0xc0000005 What I've Tried: -purged graphics drivers with DDU and uninstalled Windows Updates -Completely reinstalled Windows -Tried various constellations of d.o.c.p. enabled/disabled/different profiles -Run Memtest86+ (about 4-5 Hours, no errors shown) -Run 3DMark/Cinebench/Furmark as a stress test (never crashed in those) -Re-seated CPU/Memory -Swapped Order of memory -installed only half my memory in different combinations PC Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x RAM: 64GB (4x 16GB) Crucial DDR5-4800 CL40 Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS Primary Drive: 1TB Crucial P3 Plus GPU: ASUS TUF GAMING AMD Radeon RX 6950XT PSU: 1000 Watt Seasonic Prime TX-1000 Cooler: Corsair iCUE H115i RGB ELITE 280mm The only (cheap) idea I still have is to try swapping the memory completely and get a new kit for testing purposes, but I'm starting to doubt if that makes sense. I haven't contacted the customer support of AMD/ASUS/other Vendors yet, as I have no idea what is actually wrong with it. I'm open for any suggestions or tests I could run -
This has me worried since I have an ASUS GPU comming in my new system. I mean I chose it because I have seen a good amount of highly rated ASUS GPUs in the past and it was one of two name brand GPUs to chose from on the website of the builder I bought from. I have used ASUS systems in the past at schools and work and some were fine while others were just large paper weights. So my personal track record with them is rocky.

I bought this board brand new and I have no idea why it’s doing this, I’ve cleared the cmos, I’ve removed the battery and that seemed to reset something but the board is still doing this.

I left my pc on for about 6 hours to download a game (abt 40gb). The pc was working fine. After I came back I saw that the pc was still on but there was no display output. I tried to wake it up but nothing happened. I turned off the pc by holding the power button. I restarted it. It turned on (still no display output) after two seconds it turned off by itself and turned on again. All this time my asus motherboard had the DRAM led on. I used the motherboard MemOK function but no success. I tried everything I could find but it didn't work.

Hi! Can someone help me updating BIOS on H470-i MB without a display? I found some methods where a usb port was tagged as "flashback" with a flashback button and a led light so you can update BIOS without a display, but on this MB I haven't found yet. Are there any other ways to solve this problem? I have to update the BIOS because of an 11th gen intel CPU. Thanks, Boren

I recently bought a three pack of the Corsair AF120 and they're stuck at full speed on my Asus motherboard. I've tried using AI Suite 3, the BIOS fan control and Speedfan but nothing lets me change them. I noticed on my friends Asus BIOS under the advanced fan settings there was an option to choose between PWM or DC control but I don't seem to have an option for that. How do I enable DC control? Fan Xpert cant even detect them. Thanks.

I just finished my first PC build. Ryzen 3700x and Asus B550-F wifi Motherboard. Everything seems to be running smoothly, no major issues. The only thing I cannot figure out is when I start it up, the CPU shows max clocks at 4400Mhz. It does not reach max clocks normally. But I am not sure why it starts there. I've messed with a few things in the Bios but it does not seem to change it. I can put it back to 3600Mhz with Ryzen master, but I would like to just not have to worry about it becoming unstable or anything of the sort. I also do not have AI Suite installed. Any ideas?

Hi all, I have my 6700k running at extreme temperatures and suspect it might be something to do with the aio pump but it still seems a little extreme to me. once the system has been running it will sit at 75-95*C idle with 2% load, fans in the Corsair H115 running at speeds that resemble a helicopter taking off, let alone browsing the net and watching YouTube. sometimes I can’t get past the bios screen because it’s too hot to boot (if I restart mid session) I have put new thermal thermal grizzly paste on multiple times, repositioned fan configuration (every fan is working) , loaded optimised defaults in asus bios (to remove overclocks). is it likely that this is just a aio pump problem? Could it be the cause of this much heat? If I get a cheap air cooler to test would this see drastic results results turn to normal on idle? not sure if I should sink money into a new aio/air cooler or get a new cpu /mobo combo (since this is now a secondary computer) thanks in advance cheers Chris

Specs: GPU: RX 5700 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard: Asus Prime B450m-k Ram: 16GB Power Supply: Corsair RM650 So recently I decided to Factory reset my pc, once the factory reset finished I realised that my gpu was not appearing in task manager, I tried installing the drivers for it and it just came up with errors. I decided to try to use DDU to uninstall my graphic drivers and then reinstall them but that did not fix anything. I tried factory resetting again, and then re installing windows through the settings menu. The next day I flashed and re install my bios and that also didn't fix the problem. My bios is also stuck in Legacy mode. I don't think the gpu is broken because I have my monitor connected to it using a display port. I have tried installing a new chipset that also didn't work it just says error. And in my Device manager my PCI devices have no drivers. are I'm losing hope with it, does anyone know a potential fix. Thank you. PS before the factory reset my pc worked perfectly fine.

basically i undervolted my cpu and tried do raise the clock (since i undeclock it to achieve lower temps) but then when i tried to boot from the bios the light started blincking and i had to do a forced shutdown (holding the poweer button on the case). i read that it might be ram, but i dont understand what it has to do with under/overclocking my cpu. Please help :(((

Hey I'm having problems, just built my PC, went to install Windows and got stuck with Windows telling me that I have no bootable devices installed. I went back to the BIOS and it's recognized, it's showing up but not under bootable devices. I reset everything to default and updated the BIOS, but no luck. Any help? ASUS Prime z690-a motherboard, Samsung Evo Plus 2TB SSD.

Hello! I have a problem with my Corsair Ql120 RGB Fans (Outlined in red). They aren't spinning even though connected to the motherboard. A regular nzxt fan that I connected is spinning fine though. I tried putting the Corsair fans on PWM, Using MSI Afterburner to manually spin the fans and they still don't spin. I don't have a commander hub. They aren't broken because the fans spin for 1 second on computer startup then don't spin again. I also changed the fan temp curve to make sure that wasn't the issue either. Does anyone have a clue on why only these 3 fans aren't working?

I currently have a ryzen 7 1700x on a Asus Strix b350-f motherboard. I was planning on upgrading to the Ryzen 7 3700x, buying a new set of 3600mhz ram and keeping my old motherboard. Would I be able to run the 3600mhz speed on the ram on my old motherboard? Or would I need to upgrade my motherboard too? Thanks!

Guys, what do you think about this specs?I live in Europe, the total of this is 625€, that's my budget for cpu, board and rams. I wanted to know if it's a good choice. The new kaby lake cpu's are so expensive here.. 50€ more for the same performance... I also can't wait for ryzen, I need to do 3d modeling. i7 6700k - Gaming, Video editing and 3d modeling. Perfect choice I think. Asus Z170-A - I'm building a white based PC, this board costs 151€ it has everything I need. Corsair 3000mhz 16gb cl15 - 2400mhz is good, but 3000mhz is better and is only 5€ more so.. easy choice.

Hey i know it sounds kinda newbie but is it possible if i can put 16 or 12 Ram on a motherboard that only support 8gb max. I have seen people talk about some motherboard works even tho their advertised ram support were 4gb but it picked 8gb too. i'm not sure if its true. Is it possible? The Motherboard i have is ASUS P5K-Premium. Right now i have 2GB on each 4 ram slots. Would love to hear your input about this. Thanks.

Hello guys, I just bought a new desktop computer with a lot of 3,5 mm jack ports. I have a headphone with a combo jack, unfortunately the "Realtek HD audio Manager" doesn't recognise that as a speaker AND a microphone. Is there a way that I could use it without an adapter? (motheboard: asus 270-a)

Hey there, I have recently built a new PC with the following parts: - Intel i5 6600K 3.5GHz - Hyper 212X CPU Cooler - ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING Motherboard - 16GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-2400 RAM - EVGA GTX 1060 3GB Graphics Card - Corsair VS550 AXT Power Supply - NZXT Source 210 Elite and a few other parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/LFrL7h When I try to boot the PC, the red SB_PWR LED is on, red and breathing. But pressing the on button OR shorting the board from the pwr_switch header doesn't do ANYTHING. No noise, beeps, fans or extra lights - just nothing. I have tried taking out one and both RAM sticks, removing the GPU and the hard drive, to no luck. I have reseated all plugged in cables. Any advice appreciated.

I'm thinking about getting an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU, with an ASUS PRIME X370-PRO motherboard. Now i'm a bit confused with the whole ram thing. So I would like to get a duel 2 x 8gb kit, with a 3200 mhz speed. From the research i've done already it seems that ram that is advertised as 3200mhz is an overclock. And that in order to get 3200mhz working, you either have to choose a profile on the bios or manually enter values. Otherwise it would run at a lower speed than the full 3200mhz. Is this correct? I also heard you should find the motherboards QVL, (Qualified Vendor List) to get ram that has been tested for that motherboard, to reduce the chance of any issues. However the motherboard I linked, i can't seem to find any QVL on the product page. Where would I find this QVL list? I want to be sure before I buy ram because i've heard of people that have had isssues getting to 3200mhz on the Ryzen platform. And if theres anything else I should know please let me know. Thanks, GR412.
