  1. Afterburner CTRL+L doesn't seem to work. And I need to do this to see if my gpu will work fine like that, since when its under a certain voltage/frequency - most apps start glitching out. Using a MSI r9 390 8gb, drivers - latest (default windows drivers do work without doing this kinda stuff)
  2. I've been receiving these weird white dots in only the following programs: Nzxt CAM, FB mesenger, Razer synapse (login screen) and LoL (login screen). I've tried different GPU driver updates, different displayport cables and ports (on the gpu), under clocking gpu and nvidia debug mode but I still receive this issue. When I run 3d mark benchmark demo in steam these issues disappear, but only while the benchmark is running. I've never received these in games as well.
  3. Hello guys! So I've been having a problem that i will explain later on but first I'll give some context: (TLDR at the bottom) My mom was in need of a gpu only as a display adapter, because she doesn't do anything graphically intensive, so we got her a Geforce 8400 gs that was gifted to us by a local computer shop. The thing had no fans, only a radiator and an empty fan slot. After a while, my mom started having problems with her screen being completely static and other problems, so I decided to give her another card I was planning to use in another project and started to diagnose the 8400. I booted with the card in my "testbench" (celeron E5200, cheap motherboard I salvaged and 2x2GB sticks) and it seemed to work fine, I downloaded the drivers, restarted and launched MSI AB to check temperatures. oh no So the card was at 82 degrees idle, very bad of course but I wasnt expecting it to literally have a major crash after blinking the screen a few times. I went to the little workshop I have and added a fan to it, nothing fancy, but it would help. Success! 40C° idle and 50C° on furmark after 15 minutes, seemed stable and great... But could it do more? I thought to myself, I opened MSI AB and the Heaven benchmark, raising the bars as much as possible. I was able to get the sliders up until the end and it was working fine, no crashes, nothing. After a while, the screen got stuck, the card was at a mild 52C° but it wouldn't move in any way. After restarting the pc I noticed a clear difference: 8bit color at 640x480. Oof, it seems the card went into a safe state or something, so i started to dig checking what was going on, in device manager the card reported as "vgasave", so i uninstalled that, with all the drivers and reinstalled them. The only thing slightly different was that device manager says Windows stopped the card because it stopped working (Error: 43). I tried: - DDU in safe mode - Reinstalling the card - Putting it in my main pc and installing the drivers - DDUing it in my main pc But nothing, it seems to be rendering it in some kind of software mode, and I see some interesting artifacts, as in I can sometimes see stripes in some colors. MSI AB of course doesn't report it but i found that down in the sensors it said it's current core clock and memory clock were 465 and 266 respectively, which are the same as stock clocks, GPU-Z reports mem and core clocks as a big fat 0Mhz and Windows keeps avoiding the card. So what's up? Thanks for reading. TLDR: Overclocked shitty card > shitty card gets into safe mode > windows disables it > cant get it back up.
  4. Does anyone know where I could either send in my faulty RTX 2080ti to get the memory swapped out or order memory modules to replace them myself? I am currently experiencing artifacts when my graphics card exceeds 60 C. It makes all of the scenery look like spikes are jutting from everything then crashes my programs. I have yet for the card to actually crash the computer as a whole. I have some experience with working on pcbs, chips, and soldering, but i am far from a professional. I just want to be able to use my card again rather than having an expensive paper weight. I have an AUROS Extreme RTX 2080ti. I replaced the air cooler on the card with a waterblock to improve the temps on the card since my gaming room is not well insulated and gets hot in the summer. I attempted to send it back to Gigabyte for an RMA, but they refused to fix the card or attempt to help in any way. Thank you
  5. Hi everyone, i have one problem. Apex Legends Season 1 and 2 worked fine, skipped Season 3, and i try to play Season 4. My problem is, when i turn off Vsync, my game starts showing some square artifacts and in couple of seconds my PC gets frozen and i need to restart it... I try different drivers, settings, even reinstalling my OS didn't fix this problem. And this is a problem with every single game i try to play... My PC specs: CPU: Intel G4560 GPU: ROG STRIX GTX 1060 OC 6GB PSU: 500W MB: MSI B250M PRO-VDH RAM: Kingston HyperX Furry 8GB DDR4 OS: Windows 10 64bit Link of example:
  6. Hi, I recently got a new GPU. I use the HDMI output with my 4K/60Hz TV and, for a couple of weeks, it worked fine, but now I've been getting "artifacts" (it doesn't look like space invaders, rather several blinking colorful pixels). Thing is, it feels like a software issue. It only starts when Win10 is loaded. It is not present with BIOS or POST screen. Rig is Ryzen 3800X, Crosshair Formula VIII, 32GB ddr4 3200Hz, 750W gold PSU. Not yet overclocked. It feels like it worsens as system heats up, but I'm not sure. I've tried finding fixes, with no luck. I also tried flashing a newer VBIOS to the card, also with no luck. Any help? Thanks in advance,
  7. Soo a friend gave me this galax gtx 960 that has artifacts, the symptoms are, it takes about 25 seconds to display any image and then shows this odd information(image 2) and then proceeds to boot displaying this white lines 100% of the time(image 1), even on the mb bios, on the device manager it recognizes the card, but with code 43 and error code 0000002b when opening the gpu-z all the information seems right except that it shows a 0mb of video memory (image 3) which leads me to think that is likely a problem with the memory, i can't install the drivers, i have all old drivers uninstalled with ddu, next issue, i looked at the pcb and noticed one of thoose r22 bricks (idk what they are called) is "missing"(image 4) i can't tell if it was removed but probably wasn't, the fixes i tried were cleaning it with a bath of alcohol and baking it at 390f for 12 minutes, none of them worked, the error still persists, next thing i will try to do is using a heat gun on the memory chips, if any of you guys could help me even with just a guest of what it could be, i will be thankful, good night image 1.jfif image 2.jfif image 3.jfif image 4.jfif
  8. Hi all, So... I built myself a completely new computer in July/August this year, and as part of it, I purchased a ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2060 OC Edition 6GB (all components for the system were ordered via Amazon UK). Everything has been running fine for the last 3 months, but yesterday my desktop started glitching (see attachment), and now I can't get Windows to load. My main components are: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Gigabyte Aorus X570 AORUS PRO (BIOS: f6b) Corsair CMK32GX4M2D3200C16 Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) Corsair RM850x Thinking it was a driver issue, I reinstalled Windows 10 1903 completely, and was able to get to the desktop. Once WindowsUpdate kicked in and tried to install the NVIDIA drivers, it does whats shown in the video, and freezes the computer. If I switch it off, and back on, it'll get as far as the Windows spinning circles and then black screen and freeze again. I also tried a clean install of Win10 1903/1909 with no internet connection, and tried installing different drivers from NVIDIA's site (v431.60, v431.86, v441.20) but the same thing happens. I even tried using a different power supply (another RM850x from my old build) but the same thing happens. I've exhausted software/hardware diagnostics as far as I can so... is my card dead/dying? I tried contacting Amazon UK's Technical Support, they said to email ASUS (which I have), so I'm waiting for ASUS to reply. Thanks! :) IMG_0165.mp4
  9. I have a galax GTX 1660, and it shows some weird artifacts. Everything look crisp and pixelated. It doesn't show up in any window, but when I open Asus ROG armory crate and change around some setting. It shows me this weird pixelated artifacts I am talking about (on the top left), and when I switch to my adobe software. That pixelated artifacts also go over that window. Though the artifacts won't happen if I never open up the Asus armory crate, and I did some GPU stress test on Heaven and Superposition. Does anyone know what's wrong?
  10. My GPU has been experiencing some really strange problems. I know it's the GPU, because the problem isn't present with another AMD GPU. So basically everytime my PC isn't shut down properly will result in artifacts when I boot it up next time, even if I cut off the power to the PSU and wait for a while. Like it remembers it. Fixing it sounds quite simple, but it's actually not... To fix it I simply have to boot it up (with artifacts or not) and shut it down through windows. I won't have any artifacts next time when I shut it down through windows. However, with the artifacts my PC is so unstable that I'll take like 5 tries to get into windows, I'll just lock up (freeze) so badly that I can't get into windows and shut it down properly. Also when my PC doesn't have artifacts there is still a chance that it freezes 15 minutes into a game, which requires me to reset it and this results in artifacts again. (It's more stable without artifacts) The artifacts are also not too extreme. They don't fill the entire screen most of the time. Sometimes it's also not only blocks, but like a massive blue triable that covers my screen briefly. I've also seen it cause changes to colors in windows, for example: it once changed the windows progress bar (when launching Steam) from Green into blue. What have I tried: - Reinstall windows 10; - Reflash the vbios; - Try a different bios (my GPU has 2); - Different drivers; - Different GPU (fixed it), but I would like my R9 290x back. TL;DR R9 290x wants to be shut down properly. It won't stop giving me artifacts until I manage to boot into windows and shut down. Cutting the power won't even fix it. Card is also very unstable and locks up my computer often.
  11. Hey guys, I'm having two issues with my PC and I can't seem to figure this out.... *Breath in and out* So it all started when I created a seperate Win 10 VHD on my SSD(860 EVO 500GB) that was running Win 8.1, the reason for this was because I just bought a freesync monitor(g sync comp) and needed win 10 to use g sync. I started to notice there were graphical issues starting to pop up in Windows 8.1 (In the Charm bar), so I removed the VHD and instead of creating a VHD I just created a new partition on my SSD refreshed Windows 8.1 and reinstalled win 10 on the new partition. it worked fine for a a couple of days and Windows 8.1 started getting artifacts again (In the charm bar), so out of fear of corrupting my data I deleted the Win 10 VHD and just kept win 8.1 on my SSD. I sometimes see small artifacts when windows is booting (on the circle dot loading animation) I see artifacts on the lock screen sometimes, I see artifacts when I use the charm bar and start menu, I see artifacts when I use browsers (It's a little better on chrome, but they still happen) (Videos are totally unaffected by the artifacts, so I still watch YT videos and enjoy Netflix, sort of..I'll explain) and when I try to play PUB G,CSGO,TF2 I get artifacts, but MW2 works just fine. Then I tried installing Windows 10 and the artifact issues followed, except now their is a static sound issue (This is why I "sort of" enjoy videos) and the static sound issue is fixed only when I'm playing music or a video locally with WMP and using headphones. (Weird, I know) Here are all the things I've tried and my specs. [SPECS] MB: Z170I Pro Gaming CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC BLACK EDITION RAM: G.SKILL Aegis 8GB 3000Mhz 2x SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB HDD: Western digital Blue 1TB HDD PSU: SILVERSTONE SFX Series SX600-G 600W Case: SKTC Q1 (I now have my PC out of the case, for obvious reasons.) [What I've tried before coming here] Fresh installing and refreshing windows 8 and 10 and even 7, multiple times. Booting win 8 and 10 on my HDD seperately, and then booting ubuntu on a flash drive, problem persists. Underclocking RAM, CPU AND GPU Overclocking CPU AND GPU, not RAM though..I don't wanna break it (lol) Tried each ram indiviudally in all slots, and ram together in different slots Ran RAMtest and windsows memory diagnostics, no errors ! Ran Furmark, no artifacts (weird, I know) Switching the SATA and PSU cables Trying a different PSU I have Trying a different motherboard I have Reseated and repasted CPU on my ASUS and GIGABYTE Z170X UD3 MB multiple times. Blew into all the slots and ports, nintendo style. Trying intergrated graphics, it still persisted (Can you believe this ?) Tried HDMI on two different TV's, STILL PERSISTS Tried in a different room with different outlets Tried connecting directly to the outlet Tried disconnecting everything and then reconnecting Tried removing all the wires and electronics away from pc, except for monitor and keyboard Tried DDU and reintalling multiple older drivers for my nvidia card and my iGPU Tried updating all drivers possible Updated BIOS on both motherboards Tried installing Freesync driver on Display Tried safe mode There are probably other things I've tried that I forgot to list, but that should be mainly everything. So I'm having artifacts and static sound issues, with my GPU and iGPU. I personally think it's the CPU, or possibly both RAM sticks, but it's unlikely that both RAM sticks are causing the issue, one is brand new and the other is RMA. The artifacts issue is a little better when I update the intel and nvidia drivers, but it still happens. What do you guys think ?
  12. I have recently got a new monitor, the Acer Predator XB271HUA, and have noticed fairly bad artifacting in in gradients. I then compared them to my brothers monitor, he has a Acer Predator XB241YU, same panel, just one size down. And his artifacts are no where near as bad. Here is a link to the comparison: https://imgur.com/a/LjIxPL2 Is this normal? They are both TN panels. Also, I ordered the XB271HUA, but got the Acer Predator XB271HU, without the A, is there a difference? Here is the link to The Witcher image I used: https://i.imgur.com/80AkXne.jpg
  13. Hello everyone and thank you for taking your time for reading this post. So lately I've been experiencing this weird problem. Not always, but sometimes, doesn't matter if I shutdown my PC or restart it, the whole system freezes and then there's a BSOD for like a milisecond and the BSOD happens so fast, Windows can't even create a dump file and I cannot find it and analyse the error. The system freezes completely and the upper left corner of my screen is split in half. The left side is a bit bigger than a half and that side is red filled with white dots. The right side of the rectangle is black. Nothing happens and the system won't unfreeze or turn off/restart. I don't really think it has to do with an overheating issue as all my parts actually stay relatively cool both while gaming and doing nothing in the background and while doing some light multitasking. While booting up the PC, the lowest CPU temp I saw was 17°C and it mostly hovers around 20°C. While gaming, it reaches temperatures anywhere between 55°C and 60°C, depending on how much it's getting utilized. The GPU idles at about 30°C and while gaming, anywhere between 65°C and 80°C. My Harddrive and two SSDs hover in the mid 30s. I really don't know why this is happening and while gaming, I have no issues whatsoever, no strange stuttering or crashes or artifacts appearing on screen, everything is perfectly smooth, It only happens when shutting down or restarting. And it's only happening sometimes. My Specs: FX 8350 @ 4.0 GHz 16GB DDR3 RAM 1600 MHz GTX 1060 3GB KFA2 OC Black GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P FX Antec Earth Watts 650W 80+ Platinum Alpenföhn Ben Nevis CPU Cooler 120mm ACER K222HQL Monitor Thanks in advance for reading and any help would be appreciated
  14. Hello Guys. Sometimes I have these weird big lines showing/popping up during gaming. I dont have them on the dekstop or watching a movie, just Ingame (all games so far). Sometimes they do look like in the picture and sometimes it´s just a thin black line showing on the screen (flashing in) and then they disappear for a second. The Card is new. Are those Artifacts - is the Card dying? They dont show up on Heaven-stress test or 3D Mark
  15. Yesterday I was testing out the performance when I OC my GTX950 to see any difference in my working applications. Harmless checking really, then when I hit the memory clock hard as I usually do with my othe rcards like GTX1060 and 1080, I saw these appear shortly. It was weird, they moved around and didn't go away until a full restart. I've never seen em before nor do I know much about visual issues on displays. Is this threatening to my card or PC or harmless side effects of a bad OC? Could use an expert thanks!
  16. Some time ago I bought this: https://www.gnr.co.uk/product/afox-geforce-gtx1060-6gb-h2-geforce-gtx-1060-6gb-gddr5_af-af1060-6144d5h2.htm It certainly not best 1060 out there, but, considering ongoing mining craze at a moment of buying, it cost me almost MSRP, when next cheapest option price was almost double that I paid. Plus, 2 year warranty is also a good thing. Card, in my opinion, had insufficient cooling, but I modified it in "Roadkill / zip tie style", and, after this, i considered applying daily overclock on a card. I had some hints on what capable card is, because i messed around with overclock shortly after i bought it. So, i applied already known parameters, and proceeded to stability testing. And here I have an issue. I expect, that if my overclock isn't stable, that stress testing software (Heaven in my case) will crash with artifacts (8 bit like) almost instantly after applying overclock to the card. But in this case I may have Heaven looping from 15 to 30 minutes without crashing, but with some occasional stuttering and/or some strange artifacts like colored transparent glare flashes or dots. Then Heaven may just freeze or instantly crash. If i use Furmark, instead of Heaven, it just simply works, without crashes, and if i spot some artifacts (like some red pixels in a middle of a donut), I know, that i just was too greedy with memory clocks. If I play games, they may also freeze up, or crash, but it can happen in first five minutes, or after two hours of playing. In graphics intensive games, like Ghost Recon Wildlands, for example. Honestly, I don't have much experience in overclocking gpus. I have broad experience with cpu/ram, but it my first time, when i have powerful enough gpu to consider it overclocking potential viable. So, can someone share knowlege about proper testing and validating gpu overclock?
  17. Out of nowhere started getting weird artifacting on the bottom half of my monitor during start-up or when waking from sleep. At first thought it may be an issue with GPU. Tried two known good GPUs with same issues (both Nvidia GTX 10 series cards) still was getting same issue Then I went maybe overboard but I installed a new motherboard and CPU. Still getting same artifacting. Then went into Display settings and lowered refresh from 75-60 Hz and problem seemed to get better at first. Yet after a while I noticed it happening again just not as prevalent. Turned on VSync no dice. Monitor seems to be functioning but have not been able to test seperate monitor yet but what else could it be? GPU is good, Memory is good, CPU is good,Problem only happens when windows is booting or waking up from sleep??? It's fine during POST and also usually is fine during normal use but still this issue nags me. Could it be issue with PSU??? Any advice would be much obliged. 18. So, I had to perform a cmos reset by removing the battery, and now it has a boot artifact, always with the wame pattern. Also, fans sound like they're kinda fast. It doesn't go past that. I dont know what to do
  19. Hi guys, I am having some PC trouble. I started seeing some trouble after I moved my PC to another country (just took motherboard, cpu, gfx, hard disks, ram and bought new case + psu) At first it was working great and all was a-ok. Then one time artifacts started showing up on the screen and windows froze. after restart it worked fine. however after I moved to another the pc to another flat, it keeps showing artifacts and freezing whenever i'm using the browser watching streams/videos or opening any game. watching streams works for a few minutes up to 20 or 30 even but then always windows freezes however games cause this to happen much quicker, almost immediately. Also after I restart from one of these incidents and try again it happens much quicker. unless I leave it be for an hour or to. I naturally thought it was a heat problem, but the temp tool shows all normal temps with max 65 C on gpu and 50 on CPU as i'm not overclocking or doin anything intensive. I also ran corruption checks on the windows using sfc command but that came up clean. I ran norton anti virus to check for malware but nothing came up as well. One time windows recovered from being frozen and shut itself down showing this error video_scheduler_internal_error Unfortunately my MB doesn't have on-board video so I can't test without the video card. Is there any way to confirm if it's a hardware issue with the GFX or an OS issue? preferably I wouldn't have to reinstall windows. this is my setup MB: Z68-UD3-B3 Cpu: core i7 2600k ram: 8 GB GFX: Nvidia GTX 560 ti PSU: 650W Corsair vengance OS: Windows 10 Any help would be highly appreciated. I'll upload a pic of the freeze later today thanks
  20. Been troubleshooting an artifacting problem since I built my pc in april 1017. Posted a week ago (with not a lot of responses) which I linked below for more info on the problem if interested. My question is, would the fact that i notice the glitching/artifacting on my main monitor (4k benq with displayport) and not the secondary monitor at the same time (asus hd monitor with hdmi) give any clue to the nature of the problem? Could that rule out any issues like vram going bad? I would think that if vram was bad, it would send corrupted data to both screens at the same time? I really dont want to have to go through asus rma process. I dont think its the cable or the monitor because I think I saw the glitch on the 2nd monitor once (and DP cables from my research don't glitch like my problem)....but they are so fast and am looking at the main monitor 90% of the time so hard to tell. Thanks for any input!! cpu 7700k gpu strix gtx 1080 mobo asus z270e ram 32gb 2666mhz corsair vengeance lpx psu corsair ax760 all drivers and bios are up to date. No OC on gpu. 21. Hey I just bought a new Graphics Card (ASUS ROG Strix Radeon RX 570 O4G Gaming OC Edition) and i used DDU to uninstall my previous Graphics Card and the new one keeps having weird Black Triangles that will flicker in and out during rendering of object in games. VR games show a grid of 16 dots (4 on top, 40 on side), or weird blocks on certain textures. blade and sorcery has weird triangles too where it will appear from characters. This has affected a few games VR and non VR, including, Just Cause 3, RecRoom, Superhot VR, Naruto Storm 4, Blade and Sorcery, (etc) but has not affect (so far) the Desktop (Videos, Youtube, etc), Dying Light, Final Fantasy XV and Metal Gear Rising, Beat Saber. This Card along with my previous AMD MSI R8 265 2GB card had issues with "Wattman being restored to default values due to a system failure" even when starting up the computer for the first time. This issue as not returned so far since Reseting Windows 10. Looking up on google my issue i have found these to try to fix the problem but so far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, including various updates (17, 19.1, 19.3) from the disc, from Asus site and from AMD site.I have factory reset Windows 10, reinstalled it from scratch.I have looked in the BIOs and changed Power Saver Mode to Optimal Power Mode.I have tried Installing just the Driver and not the settings app.I have tried the Wattman control settings to give me more Power. (this so far hasnt changed anything after the Win10 Factory reset and also hasnt "Restored to default values" after Win10 Factory reset)I have changed Anti-Aliasing Method to Adaptive Multisampling Radeon SettingsI have Reset the Shader Cache in Radeon SettingsI have updated my BIOs on the Motherboard My PC Specs (from Speccy)OS Windows 10 Home 64bitCPU AMD FX-8350 8 Core 4.34GHzRAM 17GB DDR3 @ 577MHz (11-11-11-28)*Slot1: 1GB, Slot2: 4GB, Slot3: 8GB, Slot4: 4GBall are Kingston but the 1GB stick shows up as unknown?Motherboard Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0GPU 4096MB ATI ASUS Radeon RX570 SeriesPSU 650W Bronze Im not sure what is going on and i feel it may be a defective Out of Box card. but at the same time I dont think it is because more graphical heavy games dont do it but some do? Could it be the RAM? im gonna try that next, and remove the 1GB stick. Im also gonna look in my manual and look at the PCI-e slots and put it in the best one for it. Any Opinions or suggestions are more than welcome. just want to get playing VR finally as i have been working on this for the Past 4 days testing and researching the problem. It has been a long time since i did a factory reset on Windows 10 so that seemed to help some issues i was having so far, but not the Artifacting. Also the games i played that were non VR were in full 60FPS at 1080p and never dropped in frames, this includes artifacted games and the games that had no issues. VR games also were at mostly a good 90FPS with little drops to 45FPS when the dots would flicker along with the blocky textures. No frame dips or drops in Blade and sorcery except at the loading screen where it did the dots only. Beat Saber had absolutly no issues and ran like a dream, no dots, no artifacting. I was thinking this was at first the VR headset but now i am not so sure. i also tested the card on different TV's and Monitors and different cables so its not that. https://bioalpha7569.imgur.com/all EDIT: I have tested the RAM but nothing happened. Im uploading all the Images with the issues im having to this link here.
  22. Hello, A month ago, i had this weird issue where a random artifact appeared while using Chrome. It was there until i scrolled down the page and disappeared. Didn't happen again until right now, so i took screenshot to show it clearly. I noticed that i was using beta drivers for AMD when that happened in both of the times. I'm not sure though. Nothing like that ever happened in any game btw. (The black box isn't an artifact lol.) GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB
  23. Yo o/ So I've had this combo for a while: Mobo: Asus Maximus VIII Gene. CPU: i7 6700k @ 4GHz. RAM: 16GB of HyperX DDR4 Memory. PSU: 550W Corsair something something - fully modular. GPU: GTX Geforce 980 TLDR; So recently I started having some troubles with my PC. Firstly I started getting some weird bluescreens and after a LOT of trial and error with reinstalling windows and the like, I first thought that it was RAM related, then SSD but turns out that manually setting the CPU voltage to 1.4v fixed the blue-screens. For a while I had no issues again, up until the machine started with some odd freezes, just for a few seconds to then continue. Also really bad performance on 3d accelerated programs. Just opening something like spotify, discord or google chrome would TANK performance of any other 3d application and the pc as a whole. This I fixed with using DDU and reinstalling drivers completely. For about a week It was going fine until I decided to reinstall windows 10, again. For the usual reasons, space, all sorts of crap on the boot drive, so on... But, since the reinstall I've encountered problems again. As an example, every time I start my PC there's ALWAYS a freeze of about 2-3 seconds. Just after windows boots onto the desktop. I've done the same with reinstalling drivers and the like... Doesn't seem to have fixed that particular issue. Then the other night my PC just crashed with graphical artifacts on the screen: This particular picture is just me watching some stuff in VLC. This happened in game too. It hickups with these artifacts and freezes for about 3-5 seconds. Then the sound continues and seemingly windows, but the screen / graphics never recovers and a hard reset is required. So this happened a few times last night too. Monitoring temperatures debunks that as an issue, steady 50-70c depending on the application. Today, I can't even boot into windows, it happens instantly on startup. Temperatures that I've been able to gather while I could still run the PC with a game, are normal according to readouts on speedfan. However idle temperatures are in BIOS is 38c in a watercooling loop that holds both the CPU and GPU. In a relatively cool room, I'd imagine somewhere around 20c. Is my GPU fried? Is it a PSU issue considering the CPU troubles? Maybe it's even the motherboard? I've run RAM tests with no errors (6 hours). Is it some oddball temperature fault, is my system really overheating but sensors are not able to read it? I'm at a complete loss, and going out to get a new GPU right now with how prices are atm. would be really unfortunate...
  24. I can only boost my monitor by 1 hz before artifacts appear, Is there a way I can mess with the timings to fix this or no?
  25. Hey everyone, So I'm trying to diagnose my friend's card here, because it acts like it's dying. After he updated the drivers on his machine (23. January 2018), it started acting crazy. TL;DR: Something triggered a card into unusable artifacting (drivers / new game, no idea), most usual remedies tried, swapped into a system with basically the same card and older drivers that work, no success System specs: Friend's: i5-3570K stock, MSI Z77A-G45, Seasonic X Series 650, RAM unknown (I can find out), Win8.1 64bit Mine's in the signature below, runs Win7 Ultimate 64bit First encounter was on a game "Escape from Tarkov", game loaded, card under full load, in game FPS 1-4. After he recovered from system shutdown it went like this: no video signal on boot, tried different PCIe slot, no difference after a few tries it booted fired up Kombustor, everything OK fired up a game -> blue / brown vertical lines, different games very similar like this ->https://imgur.com/KCcJZId apparently it did this mostly with newer, more demanding games Oh oh, he did roll-back the driver + full driver sweep with no luck. Alright, so I took it to test in my system, as I use the same GFX chip (HD7970-DC2T), with basically the same cooler. To note, I have not updated my drivers in a WHILE (Radeon Software info - Sep16). + Overview and Hardware My testing so far: under light load with core speeds 501-1050MHz and voltages 0.950-1.200V respectively (2D video playback with madVR advanced processing and rendering), temps around 60°C -> everything OK fired up MGS5: Phantom Pain -> went well for ~2mins -> white screen freeze -> few seconds after sound freeze -> hard boot-off no video once again, quick shut-down, power cycle PS upon boot-up I got this screen -> https://imgur.com/k7A2eAX crashed my whole system, had to go through BIOS setup, but here is an Afterburner Log tried lowering Memory Voltage (1600->1520 mV) & Memory Clock (6600->6000MHz) through GPU Tweak, ran the game again, froze with similar artifacts - but I recovered a log from GPU Tweak that's attached Soo I want to try a few things: Flash the BIOS first with an updated one, then modified with stock clocks and voltages, first on the VRAM as I've heard the factory overvoltage can cause artifacts when VRAM gets too hot. I can't see any VRAM temp readouts on this card in Aida64 though.... I can on mine. Edit: Found the other temps in GPU Tweak, I'll need to setup a log I can comprehend and get them to OSD somehow. In comparison, I know my card artifacts occasionally, but it's minor (Pictures 1, 2 & 3) and can be fixed with a simple reboot. Same drivers, nothing like this. If it's a VRAM issue, I'll look into identifying which VRAM chips might need replacing. Thanks for any suggestions! MONITOR_Card1(20180215013920).log
