I was wondering if anyone would be willing to buy a 250GB 840 EVO for ~$100 or maybe less? I am willing to ship the product in Canada or the US. If some one is willing to buy I will put it up in the classifieds. The drive is in perfect condition, all that was on it was Battlefield 3/4, The Witcher 3 and Call of Duty: Black OPS which will be erased off. It will come in the original box with the manual, CD and the stickers.

I want to get the 500GB SSD, but I'm wondering why is the older 840 EVO more expensive (on Amazon) than the newer 850 EVO, which one should I get for my ThinkPad W520?

I have a Samsung 840 Evo 500GB ssd and I am planning on getting another SSD to RAID 0. If I buy samsung 850 evo 500GB will there be any problems with them both adding up to 1TB? Also under device and drives would it show up as two drives or would it just add up to one?

Hey guys, i believe my 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO is having problems. Since the end of january i get extremly low seq. and random write speeds on my SSD. I don't really know what I did, maybe it was the performance restoration tool Samsung released some time ago? I attached 2 pictures to show you my results. Do you have any idea what is causing this problem?

Is there any real benefit of getting the 850 over the 840?

Windows 8.1 i7-4790k MSI Z97-GD65 128Gb 850 Pro - boot & non gaming programs 500Gb 840 Evo - Steam and Origin - drive won't respond properly and the Samsung utilities to fix it won't work. Maybe need to wipe the drive? - Don't know how to do that. All drivers seem to be up to date. Following this process will restart PC and begin scanning then repairing the drive, then Windows starts up and it's the same as it was before the restart/scan/repair process Had (new) it since the end of summer, didn't write to it much other then initial install for Steam and Origin games along with Nexus Mod downloads every now and then for Skyrim. Two days ago Windows started displaying a flag in the task bar saying a drive may be damaged and it had to be scanned and fixed, I would allow Windows to do this and it didn't fix anything, using anything installed on the drive is not working (no important data, just games). I tried different SATA 6 cables and ports but nothing worked, then I remembered seeing in the News section a while ago that Samsung released some updates, drivers/firmware ect. to fix 840 Evo problems, so I went to their site and got all the latest SSD downloads http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/us/html/support/downloads.html I don't know how to install the firmware download shown here. However the 840 Evo Performance Restoration software seems to do that for me, but it never gets past that firmware step, it will finish, restart the PC and instead of moving to step 1 it will only be able to redo the firmware step. To address the red notification at the bottom; all drivers are up to date. (There is no drive detected in the picture because it's not in my system right now while writing this) On attempting to reach Samsung support (email option - I'll try phone tomorrow); http://www.samsung.com/us/support/contact I've been all over their site and the only spot to contact them had a product selection. My drive is MZ-7TE500BW and when I picked the product the next step would never be unlocked.

Hi guys, what is best between the 840 EVO and the Crucial 550M (both 500gb)? Is worth buying a 30-60gb m.2 pcie ssd (and the adapter, i have a maximus vi hero...)? What is the best? (over 600Mbps, if the speed is lower doesnt count ) Thanks guys, EMENCII

Which is better. One Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB or two Samsung 840 EVO Series 120GB (I was also thinking Crucial MX100 128GB) in RAID 0? Performance wise the Two in RAID 0 would win. Stability wise the Single 840 would win. Which would you choose?

Hey! I'm going to build this rig in the coming weeks:http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Arttuli99/saved/JfYmP6 I decided to go with 1TB of WD Blue as mass storage. I'd like an best bang for the buck SSD (around 250GB)as a boot drive and it will have my most used/most important files and programs. What SSDs would you guys suggest.? I have my eye on the Samsung 840 EVO and the Crucial MX100.

Hey all, I've just switched up a few things in my new build and after changing cables and SATA ports, my Samsung 840 EVO no longer appears in the ASUS UEFI BIOS boot options. My old Crucial SSD with Ubuntu installed on it does. Without the Crucial SSD connected, the computer will boot from the 840 EVO and I can choose it from the boot menu, but it doesn't show up in the boot priority options. Anyone know what's going on here? BIOS is up to date, both SSDs work perfectly fine, all SATA ports work... can't quite put my finger on it.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a 250GB SSD. The M500 is 95 euros and the 840 EVO is 126 euros in the Netherlands. I read that the EVO is faster, but is it really worth the extra 30 euros? I'm a gamer who wants to store his OS and most played games on there and also my Hackintosh partition and Logic Pro X and Final Cut Pro X. Thanks for helping!

So I just got a 840 EVO 500 GB ssd and plugged it in to my computer so that I might transfer my files and OS to it. My computer sees the drive however when I open the Samsung Data Migration tool or the Samsung magician don't see the drive as a Samsung product. I checked the property and the name on the drive is Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500G USB Device. Any Ideas on how to make the Samsung Data Migration tool see the drive or another free tool that I can use to copy all my files and OS over to my new drive?

Hello! Having finally decided to upgrade to an ssd, I came accross some nice offers on amazon uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ssd&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Assd).%C2'> I was looking to get a 250gb drive, and as the title suggests the 840 evo and Crucial mx100 have a good reputation, my qustion is is there one that is clearly better to get then the other? I know very little about ssd's and only do gaming, nothing much else. Thanks in advance.

First of all ill make this clear: I havent built this system yet. Is it worth upgrading from a Kingston Ssd Now V300 to a Samsung 840 Evo. I probably wont use many of the features but is it worth the £20 just for the speed? I am at the edge of my budget as it is but I can just about squeeze it in, I was going to buy some Corsair air series af140s instead but I wondered if this would be better. I would get the 120gb version and i will have a WD Black 1tb for mass storage. It will mostly be used for Os, Games and usual Programs. You guys know what people put on Ssds, that sort of stuff.

Hello everyone! I just finished building my PC, I have an SSD and two HDDs. I'm a bit uncertain about whether I should do RAID 0 or RAID 1. I know what they do, but I'm just unsure if I should go with RAID 1/0. How's the performance in RAID 0, will there be a noticeable difference? Any replies will be appreciated.

UPDATE: The Build is now Complete (for now at least) My case is dark, and full of somewhat terrifying terrors. I know butchered the quote, but I had to include it somehow... Anyway, So I know I should probably finish my last computer build (this one), but It's currently on hold until I finish the computer I am building for my father, which is using the same parts, but is in a motorcycle engine instead of the PS1. I hope to eventually post a build log of it, however I'd like to see if it would actually work before posting it, unlike what I did with my last Build Log. On to the Current build, about 2 months ago, I decided I actually wanted to upgrade and get a smaller, more compact, and more easy to carry around pc for when I head off to University. So with that in mind, I decided on this build: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.75 @ Vuugo) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.79 @ DirectCanada) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard ($99.99 @ NCIX) Memory: Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.99 @ Memory Express) Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($108.15 @ DirectCanada) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Newegg Canada) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($259.99 @ Newegg Canada) Case: BitFenix Prodigy (Black) Mini ITX Tower Case ($49.99 @ NCIX) Case Fan: Scythe Gentle Typhoon 57.7 CFM 120mm Fan ($19.99 @ NCIX) Case Fan: Scythe Gentle Typhoon 57.7 CFM 120mm Fan ($19.99 @ NCIX) Power Supply: Silverstone Strider Essential 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($56.41 @ DirectCanada) Total: $1034.03 (Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.) (Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-12-04 13:34 EST-0500) Only with one small change. Originally, I had wanted to go with the Node 304, however the prodigy was on sale, and so I decided to save $40 and go with it. Also, the fans, cooler, power supply, hard drive and ram were from the pc I am upgrading from. With that out of the way, on to the pictures. Part I : The Components Lets Start with the Motherboard, It may not be the best Mini-itx motherboard in the world, but it works, can overclock, and has WiFi as well as Bluetooth connectivity so it works for me. Can't say I really like the placement of the cpu socket though. Its seems like it will make my plan of having a hyper 212 with gentle typhoons in push/pull an impossibility though. Maybe I should end up getting myself something like a h100i or a h80i for Christmas? Next up is the 760. Its a nice enough looking card, however i was expecting something a little smaller, based off of the size of my friend's DirectCU II 760. As for how the two look together, I'd say they look pretty good. Everyone knows what the Prodigy is, so I won't waste my time typing about it, but here are some pictures. I have to say though, I would have though it would have been a bit bigger. I couldn't really get any good pictures of the ssd on its own, so here it is with my cat. Personally I think the cat looks better, but the ssd looks pretty good itself. Unfortunately, no good pictures of the CPU, and the rest of the parts are in the computer I'm typing this on, so they can't really have their pictures taken. Now, its time to build this computer, I'll update this when I'm done building it.

Hi, so my SSD (vertex 3) decided to give up last week and render itself pretty much useless. Now I'm in the market for a new SSD and I'm wondering, what would you recommend: 2 SSDs in RAID 0 or a single SSD? RAID 0 doesn't "lose" any storage space, does it? I should still get 100%, right? Also, is RAID 0 worth the "risk"? Are there any other things to consider with RAID besides the doubling of possibility for failure? The SSD will be used for OS and some programs and games, personal data is stored on an HDD. I'm not very dependent on the SSD, the games I play are mostly with online profiles (so no loss of progress) and I'm fine with setting up Windows from scratch (I've done it ca. 3 times last week and didn't "recover" a single byte from my failed SSD, don't really care). Thanks guys
