Hello LTT Forum! I am a new member and have a bit of knowledge regarding PC’s and the hardware aspect of it and was wondering if this build is decent for the $500 Canadian price tag they are asking. Fx 4300 EVGA GTX 680 2GB 1TB WD Blue 500GB PNY ssd 8GB Corsair vengeance Sabertooth 990rx R.2 corsair CX 750w its in a nice (I think is cooler master) Stryker case. To me this seems like a $700-750 value build, so for $500 it seems like a steal. (If I were to buy, I’d upgrade the 4300 to a 8350, or even a 9590. It’s some poopy stock cooler on it right now, but I’d probably get an AIO for it if I were to upgrade the CPU. Thanks! All comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! A dude is selling both the gtx 680 lightning and 770 lightning (I'm collecting all the lightning series). I want to test them in sli but what bios should I flash? 680 to 770 or 770 to 680?

Hello, I just bought a used projector to watch movies.etc (SANYO PLC-XW200) However when I connect it via a VGA cable with a DVI adapter into the DVI-I port on my graphics card, I don't get anything displaying on the projector, but windows does recognize the projector in the NIVIDA control panel as you can see in the attached screenshot. Not sure what I am doing wrong here... I do only have a 14 pin VGA cable, would that be the problem?, that is the only conclusion I have come too, I'm just posting here before I go buy a new cable. Any help would be grateful.. Thanks

Hi guys, new poster and face on the forum. My issue is that my GPU on my Windows 10 partition of my Hackintosh build, is blacking out the screens after a variable amount of time. It then sometimes proceeds to reboot, or just make weird beeps in the speakers/headphones until I reboot again forcefully. However the screens blacking out is consistent and makes the partition unworkable as I cannot navigate or even debug visually on the machine. I have taken following steps however: Cleaned out the machine for dust (there were not alot since it does have good airflow) Unplugged and replugged the GPU Installed the latest GPU drivers Tried reaching out on various Hackintosh forum's to no avail Thrown a temper tantrum on myself for even having a Hackintosh... Worth mentioning: I have flashed the GPU VBIOS with a custom that allowed for GOP support, since that was what I needed for my hackintosh to have multiple screens (apparently). I have tried reflashing but can't remember the parameters needed on the latest version of nvflash (5.11) Here are other specs that might be helpful Windows 10 64-Bit (and Mac OSX El Capitan on a separate drive) System specs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB GPU 32 GB DDR3 Ripjaw Corsair RM Series™ RM850 — 850 Watt 3.5 Ghz Intel Core i7 2 TB Seagate Harddrive 2 TB Toshiba Harddrive Z77MX-QUO-AOS Gigabyte Motherboard BIOS: H2O.XMAS (Ozmosis) [Hackintosh specific BIOS] The computer is not running anything serious when this occurs, simply just Chrome. What should I do in order to: Debug this system ? Fix / diagnose the problem ? Avoid buying new hardware since it have worked fine up until this point ? If there is any more data or diagnostics, logs or anything I can give/do, please tell me I will gladly provide to get my issues resolved. Best Lucas

Let's get right to it. My EVGA 680 Classified is running 40-50° in idle and it reaches 82-83° when playing games like battlefield which uses 100% of the GPU. I regurarly clean the inside of my case and all fans(including the gpu) so i don't know why it is running so hot. I also thought i'd mention it is not overclocked. Any ideas?

i see 680s that have people bidding upwards of 170$ on and im wondering, what should i probably put it up for thats realistic? i know the 680 performs better than the 960

Hey forum. I have an ASUS GTX 680 DirectCUII (not the DirectCUII TOP) and I'm wondering if I should replace the thermal paste on it. I got the card second hand, and it probably hasn't been messed with yet. I decided to run Furmark and monitor the temps in AfterBurner. It's getting right up to 98 degrees at times (fans maxed out, quite loud) and airflow isn't the worst either (I have a Silent Series R2 blowing air right at it). So, I'm wondering if I should replace the thermal paste on this to see if I can improve temperatures. I'm not scared of doing it or anything, I'm just not sure if it's necessary. I don't seem to be getting throttling at the moment. Thanks.

Hey all, Today I got myself a new SSD, and went to plug it in. After that when I booted my PC up again, one of my EVGA 680 sc Signature 2s fans went to 100%, and the other one didn't respond at all. I first thought I didn't have enough power (750W), so I unplugged one graphic card, to see if that was the problem, which it wasn't. What do I do; none of my PCI lanes seem to recognise the graphic cards, however they do seem to recognise network security cards and other cards. I already tried to see if there was something wrong in my bios (PCI lanes setup wrong, or graphics besides Intels intergrated one being disabled), but couldn't find a thing. Then I searched for a driver, to install, but the driver couldn't find the card either, right now there are no drivers on my PC... Anybody know a fix? Seems just a little odd that 2 graphics cards decide to stop at the same exact time... Hope you guys can help me out ~ G3NT

A friend of mine asked me of what I thorough of the a card he was looking at, it was an Asus Geforce GTX 680 directcu ii top. Funny enough I use that card and I told him that I get 200+ frames in CS:GO with the settings quite high (That was what the Steam FPS counter says) but then he asked it to compare it to other cards but that I couldn't answer on the spot. I told him that I'll get back to him on that but with me juggling school and work I would like to get the answer quickly so can you guys help.

Looking to build a $700 max budget gaming pc for a friend. This budget will include the operating system but not a keyboard, mouse or monitor. Does not need a k series CPU. Wants an NVidia or AMD gpu equivalent to the 680. United States dollar. Thanks all for the help. An SSD if you can fit it into the budget.

Hi Folks, i am having the opportunity to upgrade my video card , since i got a friend from the US coming to where i live (Argentina) in about a month. (hardware here is very very expensive) So i gotta decide what would be the best upgrade soon. ------------------ My specs are the following: Asus Sabertooth Z77 i7 3770k 4.3 GHZ (h80i cooler) Corsair 12GB Ram 1800MHZ 2x MSI GTX 680 Twin Frozr III SLI Ultra X3 1600W PSU Asus VG236H 23-inch 120hz Haf 932 case ------------------ im sure im gonna get at least 600 US$ for my both 680s. i think my options would be: 1-Titan X (Hopefully EVGA SC edition if it comes out soon) 2-GTX 970 SLI(with all the 3.5gb issues im not sure though) 3-Amd 295x2 I have to decide and make the card ship to his place before his flight (april 16), so sadly i can not wait for the new amd 300 series to come out. if i go for the Titan X ,is it too much for 1080p 120hz gaming? (i might get a new monitor with gsync in the future) would my 12gb ram be an issue ? I'd like to be able to max out games like battlefield, gta v, the witcher 3... What do you guys recommend ? So I recently finished doing a custom open loop cooling and so Far everything's working great I was just wondering how do the heck do I oc my gtx 680 I mean I've oc'd my processor which is stable but I really odn't have any experience in gpu's. I;ve msi after burner but I'm still kinda confuse. Can anyone share their msi after burner profiles? specifically GTX 680 profiles.

I am considering upgrading my current graphics card from a GTX 680 to a GTX 970. Do you think it is worth it or no? Mostly I like the lower power draw and newer features, but raw performance gains are welcome too. Thoughts?

So For the first time in my gaming life LOL shadow of mordor made my gpu run as hot as 78 degrees (Celsius) Is this normal? I mean I'm playing the game at ultra settings and it reaches around 55 to 60 fps in v-sync and so far the game is smooth. but at 78 degrees? I mean is this normal?

So I'm planning on getting another 23 inch 1080p monitor. But i'm only using the 2gb version of the gtx 680. Could their be a performance decrease ? even though I'll be playing in one monitor only ? so their's going to be a total of two 1080p monitors hooked up to my pc. the second screen would only be used for mutli-tasking purposes..

Hey Guys, I'm new to these forums, though love the review show on youtube. Essentially I am looking for some advice regarding a potential upgrade I am considering for my system. Note that there is going to be a bit of text, given the amount that I will be spending I want to give all my thoughts and details and if you want to advise me please take that into account. Here are my current specs: i7 2600K OC @ 4.2 GHZ, x2 EVGA GTX 680 SC in SLI 16GB 1600MHZ Corsair Vengeance DDR3 Gigabyte Z68 UD3 Motherboard 60GB OCZ SSD (Windows) 1TB 7200RPM WD HDD Antec HCG 750W PSU Coolermaster Hyper n520 CPU cooler All in a cozy DF30 Mid-tower. x1 1080p Asus Monitor, forgot which model exactly, not too fussed to check, but it's quite nice and paid around 250~ for it. (so don't recc I upgrade this plz, I know people seem to be freaking out about 4K gaming but I'm not fussed) Essentially I like the Maxwell GPUs, and ever since their release have been really thinking about a change, and at the same time upgrading my motherboard, which is alright, however it is from when I originally built this system (has been through numerous upgrades) and I was on a tighter budget back then. This however means that at the same time I'll be looking to upgrade my CPU, so firstly, regarding the CPU; options I considered/am considering: (Note I am in Australia, these are AUD and we pay a lot more for PC parts here) i7 5820K + ASROCK X99 Extreme 3 + Crucial CT4K4G4DFS8213 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 + CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler Total Cost: $1016 AUD i7 4820K + ASUS P9X79-LE Motherboard + (MY CURRENT RAM) + CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler Total Cost: $667 AUD i7 4790K + Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI Motherboard + (MY CURRENT RAM) + CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler Total Cost: $613 AUD So the above are the 3 options I am considering, I was inclined to get a 5820K at first, given it's price range and the extra cores you get, however only to find out that the CPUs require DDR4 memory, which requires spending at least another 250~ dollars for the lowest priced 16GB kits I could find. So that option is pretty much out the window given how useless DDR4 over DDR3 currently is, note I include the 212 EVO price because I will need a new CPU cooler, mine doesn't support 2011, 2011-3 or 1150. So I am more inclined to choose from the 4820K and 4790. I understand at the end of the day that the 4790 is ever so slightly faster than the 4820K, however I am NOT inclined to go for it because it has a meager x16 PCIE lane compatibility, which I find ridiculous, the 4820K on the other hand has 40 (!) PCIE Lane compatibility, and given I like my SLI i'll be able to go 16/16 on both cards, which is superb. People say 'oh it doesn't matter', 'the performance difference is barely noticeable if at all', but there is one thing that is for certain in regards to GPUs, there is one thing that they are not going to be using less of in the future, and that is bandwidth, so my current thoughts are that for multi-GPU setups the 4820K combo is much more futureproof, though the 4790K option saves me a bit of money. Next up is the GPU debate, (Also note I WILL be upgrading my PSU to a 850W Gold Corsair) So I have myself two very nice EVGA GTX 680 Superclocked Editions in SLI, these cards are beasts, that is for sure, there is only one game my PC can't max out and pull an over 60FPS average in and that is DayZ (which is something I can't figure out, DayZ only uses 71% of GPU1, 11% of GPU2 on average, with a custom SLI profile 50~% of both GPU on average and CPU is never maxed, which is extremely bizarre) but that aside, I am not in the slightest lacking in power, I understand my setup marginally defeats GTX 980 and 780 TI setups but one thing I am somewhat concerned with is the 2GB VRAM, I haven't hit any walls in games thus far, I even play Skyrim with the 8K texture Mod, a shader ENB and HD Mesh replacements and there is quite literally only one location in the game where I observe a frame drop under 60FPS average. Though take into account that I game on a SINGLE 1080P Monitor, at this point in time I find this more than sufficient and I will NEVER consider multi-monitor gaming, I find it a waste of money at this point with VR impending. I might at some point get a 2K/3K/4K..etc res monitor but never more than a single. Taking into account all of that, here are the new GPU options I am considering: MSI GAMING GTX 970 x2 in SLI (also, I have a mid-tower, should I not consider this given the non-ref coolers?) Total Cost: $1038 AUD Asus GTX 980 (Ref) x2 in SLI Total Cost: $1558 AUD Note that the goal of this upgrade would be future-proofing, I am going for something that means I won't need to upgrade for while, I understand the MSI GAMING 970s are pretty beastly and bang for buck are much better than any 980, however an equivalent 980 setup from the benchmarks is always on average 10-15% better than a 970 setup. And if you are wondering why I stated the Reference model, it is because they have the centrifugal cooling solutions that I am a huge fan of and make SLI in a mid-tower a thing of beauty. (Difference between ref and non-ref I have observed to be in the order of 3 FPS average in-game, which makes for me the current non-refs redundant for the 980s) Or this is another thought I had, given that Cost for me is an issue, let's say I went with just a SINGLE Asus GTX 980 Ref, Total Cost: $779 AUD, what is your opinion of this move? From x2 680s SC to a Single 980 (For the Time being), Performance-wise I understand it would be around the same, in raw power the 680 combination wins out but across the board the GTX 980 provides more consistant and thus better overall performance, as it is a single GPU and not affected by scaling, SLI profiles & support, and has double the VRAM, which is quite useful. It also leaves me open to viably obtain a second 980 ref in the future for a much more competitive price in the future (This is what I did with my 680s, started with one, got another 6 months later, though I did move from a 570). This is also a difficult choice to make because this relates to my choice in CPU and MOBO, given that the single GPU setup would favour the 4790K setup which is more practical economically, but would mean a future SLI would have my cards at 8/8, vs 16/16 on the 4820K. In terms of budget that is not really an issue, I have the money, it's just a matter of should I spend it and on what? Give me your thoughts and I appreciate anyone who took the two minutes to read my post and tell me what they think, as I want to be certain of my decision with the amount of money I will be spending. So i tried the msi afterburner show OSD option but it only works in some games I'm looking for a software that show's gpu temps in all games if possible. By showing GPU temps what I mean is I can see my GPU temp while gaming. Like I can see it at the top left corner or somewhere. So any GPU monitor temp software you guys can recommend ?

Quick question as I can't seem to find an answer. will 770 waterblock fits 680? the one I have is Asus' directCU II 4GB 680 I'm thinking of integrating it into my loop as the current card is starting to bend due to weight D:

A friend of mine has a question about bottlenecking, but since he doesn't have a profile here I'm righting on his behalf. He has a i7 3820 overclocked to 4.5 GHz and GTX 680 4GB Edition. So he was wondering would that i7 3820 be bottlenecking his graphics card if he drops the frequency to 4.2 GHz to make his rig quieter? And what if he was to buy a second GTX 680 4GB Edition, because he is considering it?

Hi guys, i know the topic has been discussed a few times but im in need of a few feedbacks. I need a graphics card. Current Games played: BF3, Crysis , etc. Monitor: 23 in Asus 1080p Will upgrade to 27in 2560x1440 display within next year or so. I have had previous experience with the 7970 card. Had it in my previous build. Awesome card, powerful and great for the price i got it for. Recent cards like the 760 have my eye because they cost like $250 brand new on Newegg, and get some amazing benchmarks!!!! So as stated in the title, which one should i choose to give me some sort of future proof and maybe SLi later? 670 vs 760 vs 7970 thx

Hey guys, so as some of you may know I recently bought a MSI GTX 770 Lightning, which turned out to be not that much of an overclocker. Having that in mind I was wondering if anyone of you has a Lightning Edition graphics card and has tested overclocking both with and without the GPU Reactor? Is there a significant performance difference? There is just not enough information about this on the web.

See Picture. I might want to buy this... It is only $600 asking price. What are your thoughts ???
