Hello everybody, I am building a (sort of) budget gaming pc, and my goals for ram are that I have 16 Gb of ddr4, but that is about all I know, if I were to get ddr4 memory, how fast would it need to be? Would 2133 mhz be fast enough, or should I go for something faster like 2400 mhz, or something beyond? Thanks in advance for the advice, OP

Due to Linus's most recent video I'm now confused about what RAM & CPU I'll get for my new first build. I had previously picked out an R5 1500X & 2x8GB DDR4 3200 with 14 latency, prices of those kits ranging from $155-$187. Now I'm wondering if I should just go with 2133Mhz instead & get a better CPU such as a 1600. 2 more cores won't really benefit me either though for what I do, RuneScape, Light Video Editing, Multitasking (8 or less FireFox Tabs while gaming & video editing). So please everyone help me decided lol, I know in the video I'll link below he specifically compared 2133 to 3600 so I'm unsure if his CPU upgrading advice still applies to 3200. I want this PC to be the best it can be for the price but I also know that Ryzen does favor higher frequency RAM. So I'm worried that by going for more cores vs frequency I might see a bigger overall performance defecate regarding what I do. Unfortunately I have no idea if the things I do is even dramatically effected by RAM speed, for video editing I use OBS Studio & Hitfilm 4 Express. On a final note, I do prefer reliability over speed so let that be a factor in advising me on what to go with. For reference sake, let's just say my CPU & RAM budget is $365.00 or less.

Good day. I have 4gb DDDR4 2133 memory on my laptop and I want to upgrade it by adding another ram stick. Is it okay to add another 8GB DDR4 2133 to it? (That's the only available configuration in my location at the moment). It's 4gb DDR4 2133 + 8gb DDR4 2133, so 1. How it will perform and affect my laptop's performance in terms of everyday task, casual light gaming and Photoshop. 2. Will that combination work on my system? 3. Is it okay to use different brands or ram, but the same speed and frequency? 3. Other suggestions, please.

Question: I wanted to know if its possible to overclock my RAM to DDR3-2133 or 2000. Will it make a difference in gaming/ overall performance of the computer. Is it even worth it?I'm currently using an ASRock Z97 Anniversary motherboard with the i7-4790k which is overclocked to 4.7GHZ V-core: 1.275 and Uncore is 43x Cache Voltage: 1.220. CPU Input Voltage in BIOS is at 1.920V but it reads 1.954V in ASRock A-Tuning System InfoI don't know why it does that. CPU Load Line Calibration is DisabledThis seems stable. I stressed tested on AIDA 64 for about 15 minutes. Highest temp was 74 Celsius with my H100i. I played a couple of hours of The Witcher 3 no blue-screen yet.I know this motherboard isn't that great for overclocking but at the time of buying it I didn't know much about motherboard performance/overclocking. I barely had any knowledge of overclocking. I am currently G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3- 1600 (PC3 12800)Model F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL With this RAM Kit and motherboard the XMP Profile sets it to 1600MHZ nothing further. So I have to manually set it in DRAM Tweaker.DDR3-2000 at 11-12-12-30-2T at 1.6V it successfully bootedDDR3-2133 at 11-13-14-32-2T at 1.65 No bootThe motherboard does not allow me to change the Command RateWhat other timing should I try? Also, are their any programs that I can use to test the stability of my RAM?Computer Specs:Intel i7 4790kASRock Z97 Anniversary16GB G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3-1600EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Gaming ACX 3.0EVGA SuperNova G2 650W

Hello, So I am looking to add more DDR4 Ram to my system. So far I have a 1x8 GB Stick of Corsair Vengence LPX Ram at 2400 MHZ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ARHBBPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And I am planning on adding 4 GB of ram. So I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TY6A2Z4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And now Im wondering if due to the different clock speeds, that my motherboard will reject the new DIMM and Blue Screen On me. Please give me an opinion if the stick will work, It is arriving today. Specs are below:

I am buying new RAM and was looking at this: http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-pro-series-8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr3-dram-2133mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy8gx3m2b2133c9 . But I have an i5-4690k and in Intels site https://ark.intel.com/products/80811/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz it says it only supports up to 1600mhz. I have the Asus Z97 pro gamer motherboard wich shouldnt be a problem since it supports up to 3200Mhz (OC). I googled around a bit and found an old LTT thread where people said it will work. I'm not an expert in memory overclocking so my question is rather if I stick it in, what frequency will it run automatically and how do I get it to 2133 (using XMP?) ? Thanks in advance.

Hi doods, I am using an AsRock B250 gaming k4 with an I5 6th gen. The site said that it supports only upto DDR4 2133 if using a 6th gen processor and upto DDR4 2400 if will be using 7th gen. Question is, will a DDR4 2400 still works if you are using a 6th gen cpu? If it does what will be the drawback?

Hi there! I just bought some new hardware and i'm getting stuck on something. The hardware that i bought is: Ryzen 7 2700x MSI x470 gaming pro G.skill DDR4 Aegis 2x8GB 3000M (F4-3000C16D-16GISb) installed at A2 and B2 Samsung EVO 970 When i start up windows it says the system has 16 gig of memory but it can only use 8 of it. When i go to my BIOS i see 8192 memory size and 2133 DDR speed. I've attached a screenshot of this. What do i need to do to fix this? I've already tried to set the memory to 16 gig in msconfig but that resulted in a blue screen. Did any of you experienced this as well? Thanks in advance!

I have the GEIL 2666 Mhz Super Luce RGB 2x 8GB kit x2. Without XMP it has 2133 mhz 15 15 15 35 and with XMP it has 2666 mhz 16 16 16 36. I want to push it to 2933 Mhz, I don't really care about the latency, cyz Ryzen game boost with the mhz. I have Ryzen 2700X and I had it at a stable 4.2 Ghz OC, but when I reach 2933 it will fail boot once succeeded but after restart fails again, idk which settings. Does anyone has a stable 4.2-4.3 OC plus the settings for the Geil Super Luce RGB 2933 mhz OC?

I'm having problems with a new build consisting of a new 3700x, new ASROCK x570 Steel legend and a 16gb kit HYPERX 2133mhz. The modules are KHZ2133C14D4/8G. While installing a fresh copy of windows a Memory Management bsod kept coming up. After I somehow managed to install Windows I flashed the bios which didn't help and also overclocked the memory to 2400mhz and the infinity fabric to 1600mhz. Thanks to the overclock the pc managed to get to desktop but still kept giving me errors when extracting drivers. I am aware that the memory is not included in neither the motherboard nor the Ryzen Memory combatibility list. Has anyone had this type of problem before? Is this just a simple compability issue?

Buying the final components for an 8700K gaming build to replace an older 6700K build and wondering if I should buy 3200MHz RAM or faster? Watched an older video from April 2017 on the topic of RAM speeds with Intel 7th gen and it showed only marginal improvements in performance after 3200MHz. Testing was done on a 7700K and there hasn’t been an update to this video with an 8700K (or Ryzen for that matter). At least I haven’t seen an update for 2018. Is it worth revisiting this subject? If not what is the consensus for an 8700K... and for other CPUs for that matter as well.

Hey so i recently bought a computer that has ram running at 2400mhz, the stick that is in it is the one i got when i bught this prebuilt computer from Acer. and it came running that speed when i got it. I just bought two 8gb corsair vengeance 2400mhz sticks of ram, I am wondering if i should expect these to automatically run at the 2400mhz that is currently on there or if, i will need to find a way to enable it to run at the 2400 even thought my current factory installed ram is already running at 2400. Also if i do need to enable something my motherboard doesn't not support xmp (which i dont think would be needed cause im not overclocking what the system would allow, i just dont know if i have to manually tell the sytem to run at its full potential. if i for some reason do also, how would i do this is there something i can install for my acer, as it currently had a very basic bios page that from what i can tell doesnt let you edit anything. if i do need to do this is there a download i can do to enhance my bios options. however im hoping it will just auto run at 2400 as my current chip Thanks

So I recently built a new pc but only put in one stick of memory because thats all I could afford at the time. Now I have enough money to buy more memory. The thing is I bought one stick of 2400mhz ram (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232256&cm_re=4gb_gskill_aegis-_-20-232-256-_-Product) and now I'm looking at this (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232248&cm_re=gskill_aegis_8gb-_-20-232-248-_-Product) Its $3 cheaper than the 2400mhz speed one and is only like 200mhz slower. My question is If I install the 2133mhz stick with my 2400mhz stick will it cause any compatibility issues or slowness?

So I just got anotger stick of 8GB of ram, exactly same company, 2133P (just like my prdvious one, DDR4 and same capacity. But when I put the second in, dual channel config, the PC just wont boot, but with the old one it does. Even when I leave just the new one in, it still won't work. Asus Z170-P, i5-6500

I have an Intel G4620 CPU on Asrock B250 Motherboard with G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB 2400-DDR4 single module ram and when running CPU-Z it keeps telling me that I am only clocked at 2133mhz. I HAVE enabled XMP profile in BIOS and changed detection setting from Auto to 2400 but still no luck. It keeps the Max Bandwidth at 2132 as seen in these screenshots below: https://imgur.com/JHSFP https://imgur.com/qrsCFKr https://imgur.com/XFL2AYg What am I doing wrong here?

Hello people.. I wanted some tips. I am planning to buy a used set of 2x4GB HyperX fury clocked at 2133MHz, since I found it cheaper. However, I am planning to use this in a ryzen APU system (temporarily). So, I want to overclock the thing to at least 2666MHz if possible. I have seen people saying that they even managed overclocking it to 3200MHz with zero problems whatsoever. This will also be my first time overclocking something, and I see some people saying that the memory's (specifically about memory) lifespan can be reduced, while others say that if you watch the temps there will be no problems and it will work like normal. So.. I want to clear this confusion a bit, TL;DR: How far can I safely push the HyperX Fury 2133MHz?

Has anyone got any experience with Hynix memory? I'm planning on putting together a NUC type system based on https://www.gigabyte.com/Mini-PcBarebone/GB-BSCEHA-3955-rev-10#ov I can get a good deal on 8gb of Hynix memory, but it's not in the supported list. Is it worth the risk?

Ok, a few questions for you awesome people - 1. Can I mix different speeds of RAM, example: combine 16 GBs (2x8GB) of 2133 and 32 GBs (2x16GB) of 3200, or is that bad practice / not functional? 2. What is the difference between manufacturers at the more "Pro" levels once you get into the 2400+ speeds? This is targeting price point differences, which I don't understand if they're the same speed, shouldn't they share a similar cost? (Please ignore the ignorance there) 3. I'm working with an i7 6700k / GTX 1070, and Asus z170 Mobo ... I currently have 16GBs of 2133 RAM. Providing the answer to question 1, would it be beneficial to sell off the 2133s and change out for the 3200s? Thanks as always, y'all are the best.

This is a more technical question and I would appreciate a detailed but easy to understand response. I have seen many people building new rigs with a z170 mobo and the 6700k and using DDR4 memory that is greater than 2133 mghz. Sometimes 3000 mghz. But looking at Intel's website and spec sheets for the 6700k, it says it supports up to 2133 mghz DDR4. So why are people using RAM that has a higher speed than the CPU can support? I don't think it causes any stability issues but if the CPU will only use RAM at up to 2133, why pay extra and go higher? I'm guessing I'm just totally missing something and I am unaware of but if someone knows the answer, please share! I am using data from Intel's product page at this page.
