So it seems that I have 2 dead USB ports and a dead Ethernet port on the rear IO of my board. I'm curious though if they could actually still be functional. I'm thinking it could be one of 3 things: 1. Windows 8.1 didnt give me a driver for it 2. Theres a driver error 3. Bios update (Ive been bugged for about 3 months to do it) I was curios if you guys thought that any of those things could be the issue. Ive tried downloading the Intel driver and reinstalling it with no success. As far as I know theyve been dead for about 2 months and I just havent worried about it. Can I do something like boot into Linux and have the driver installed and see if it works? That being if 8.1 messed up my driver

Thinking of getting of my Z77X-UP7 and my 3570K to get a Z97X SOC Force and a 4690K. Would it be worth it? Is there any compelling reason to upgrade?

Hello everyone, I've just started having a problem with my first custom built computer. Everything is about 2 months old. It seems the problem started when i bumped my computer. I was in the middle of an adobe update download and it restarted. It did this a few times and then it shut down. When i went to power it back on, it will not boot up anymore, there's no display on the monitor, and there is no POST beep from the case speaker. It was working fine until now, temps never went over 60 degrees. No overclocking has been done. All the fans are spinning. The motherboard is showing some debug led error codes D0 and others. I have tried booting from both the main BIOS and back up BIOS, I also tried clearing the CMOS and removing the battery but the problem is still the same. I do not know the BIOS version and cannot check or update it because the computer will not boot or go into BIOS. As far as I know all the software was up to date. In my attempt to diagnose the problem, i removed the entire motherboard out of the case. I checked for shorts, i didn't find any. I removed the cpu, checked the pins, and reseated it. I removed all connections from the board (drives, memory, graphics card etc.) except the cpu and main power. When powered on with no memory, the board beeps continuously and then restarts and repeats. Does this rule out the memory motherboard and cpu? I was going to check the psu but I don't have my dmm at the moment. Specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2z17F What went wrong and why? How can I fix my problem? I just don't understand why it's doing this all of a sudden. It's really frustrating because everything is new and when I built it, it started up first time, no problem. If it will help I will post pics or try to take a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ylywp-Bj9UA&feature=youtu.be Let me know Thank you, I'm grateful for any help.

I am planning on getting a motherboard upgrade in a few weeks so the only good one i could find that i really liked was the MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming Edition Motherboard. This is the best Bang-for-the-buck motherboard from what i hear, and it costs 120$. Is this a good motherboard, and please leave a suggestion for any other gaming motherboard that is in the same price range, that you think might be better than the MSI one.

I have a P8z77-v-LX board and I recently upgraded the bios for whatever reason and Now I can't change the CPU ratio or even get a decent over clock from the auto. I've been trying to flash the bios to an older version but it not happening. Anyone know how I can do this?

Currently I have two R9 290s (MSI and Sapphire) running on an AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard. I loaded it up today and heard the fan spinning on both cards, but then it suddenly shut down. They are both being powered by a Corsair AX860 psu. I then rebooted and Windows booted but when I went into Catalyst it would no longer give me the option to turn on Crossfire. Then when I went into the BIOS it said my PCI-E 3.0 x16 x2 slot was empty while my PCI-E 3.0 x16 x1 slot was running. I swapped the cards and they both work in the first slot. Is my motherboard's slot dead? Any recommendations for a new LGA 1155 motherboard?

So, I have an i5 3570K currently on a Gigabyte Z77X UD3H. It's a horrid board that doesn't let me overclock, undervolt or do anything associated with a K SKU CPU. I need a new motherboard. So, in a $200 USD budget, what is the best motherboard? I was thinking MSI Z77 MPOWER, but I am not sure. It needs to be ATX.

System configuration Intel Celeron G1610, 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600, BitFenix Shinobi, 74GB WD Raptor, AsRock Z77 Pro3, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, HIS AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB GHz Edition iCooler, 600W PSU Troubleshooting steps you already did Clearing CMOS Removing graphics card Any additional information that may be relevant. According to the all knowing Intel ARK, the CPU supports only up to DDR3 1333 RAM. Could this be the issue? ISSUE: So, the system is just sitting here boot looping. No input to the hooked-up monitor, but the fans spin at full speed.

Hey, I'm looking at the magnificent G.Skill Ares 2x8Gb kit on sale on newegg.ca (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231560) to replace my current G.Skill Sniper Low voltage 2x4Gb kit on my MSI Mpower Z77. Going to MSI's site to check for compatibility, I see that the test reports for that board are all dead links (http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z77-MPOWER.html#/?div=TestReport). Anyone have an idea on where I could find the memory test report other than that official source ? Thanks,

Since I saw that Battlefield 4 performs better with higher speed RAM I've been looking at buying a new kit. On the Qualified Vendors List for my mobo the highest RAM speed it lists is 2400MHz on a Corsair XMP stick so will higher speeds not be compatible? Also if the RAM I'm looking at isn't on the QVL will it not be compatible with my motherboard?

Which Motherboard should I get? I wanna run a 3570K and would like to overclock that thing. My graphics card is a XFX 7870. I thought of the ASRock Z77 Fatal1ty Performance.

Hey, so I'm gonna buy a new motherboard for my PC so I can have SLI. Some suggestions for some relatively cheap (under £150/$150) Black and preferably Blue SLI Z77 LGA1155 Boards. The new motherboard has to be better quality than my current board which is an ASUS P8Z77-V LX

I bought a Maximus V Gene way way back in the Z77 days because it was the only mATX board I liked from ASUS that offered Thunderbolt expansion in the form of a PCIe 4x card. Little did I know, ASUS would have some validation issues with Intel, or something, and the ThunderboltEX card would never see release. However, they did release the card as the ThunderboltEX II earlier this year, and during Linus's coverage of CES 2014 he showcased the card and said that it would work with any ASUS motherboard with the TB_Header, "...even the older ones." But once more information became available my joy was squashed by ASUS again. Their manual and website clearly state the card is compatible with a few Z87 boards. Serious bummer ASUS. Well, I was curious and did some research while waiting for someone else to buy the card and test it on a Z77 board. That never happened so I broke down and bought one last week. And it works, or rather it shows up in the BIOS. I don't have any TB devices but I'm going to buy a TB to firewire adapter to test it further. For now just know that if you have a Maximus V Gene the ThunderboltEX II card will work. Just make sure you're running the latest BIOS (1903). I can't speak for the other Z77 boards with the TB_Header, but I imagine they will work as well as long as you have the most up-to-date BIOS.

Hey guys, you may (or probably may not have) seen some of my posts on my computer problems/upgrades. Dont know the details but my motherboard just wasn't performing well when i plugged peripherals into it and my monitors were also flickering. This could have also been my PSU. So basically my question is: Should I buy a new Z77 motherboard or should I just wait until the next generation of intel processors and chipsets?

So here's the thing, I went to power up my PC a few hours ago but instead I am grated with the constant beeping of the speaker. Checked the manual and anything between 50 and 55 is a memory issue on the debug LED. I tried taking out the RAM and GPUs and getting it to report a false error. Nope. Tried to reset CMOS. Nope. Really really stuck. Spec is in spoiler.

This is my first post in the forums so bear with me . I currently have an i5 2500k on a asus p8z77-V Lx. I have interest in overclocking, but I am nervous since this my only computer and I know overvolting and overheating can easily destroy a cpu. I have a tiny, tiny over clock of 3.7 (as compared to the base 3.3). I have a cooler master hyper 212 with 2 fans on it and arctic silver thermal paste. Would it be realistic to reach 4.3? I just want to gain knowledge on overclocking in general, but I do not want to dive in blindly and cause my cpu to die. I do know some terms so dont be afraid to throw overclocking terms or computer terms. So I am looking for tips, how in general reguarding voltages, limits, etc. Thanks!

Hello all! And happy new year! I'm interested in some Power supply suggestions. I've been terrible at picking them out so far, so I wanted to turn to the community for help. I'm looking for a power supply that is going to grow with my computer. Right now, my specs are pretty normal and I don't need a high power rated PSU. But I am planning big upgrades this year. I want to run two GTX 970's in SLI. I want to water cool my whole system, including the graphics cards. I am overclocked right now to 4.4 ghz, but would like to push it further once water cooled. I plan to run a custom loop when I'm ready and I'm planning to use the MCP655 pump. Not only because Linus suggests it, but also because I really like how it looks. Even a laymen can tell it's a water pump just by looking at it. Finally, I want to add some LED strips to show off my completed build. I've done some shopping around and pretty much every PSU I can find is well within my price range, so whatever you got, I would like to hear your suggestions. The most important things in a PSU for me is how quiet it can be, how energy efficient it is, and that it must be fully modular. At least 80 plus gold for efficiency. Optionally, I would like to be able to use these replacement cables. This pretty much limits me to Seasonic, EVGA and Corsair HXi and AXi, but those are good names in PSU's, I do believe, and I would love to have this clean look in my case. Thanks for your help! Have a nice day!

Looking at getting new PSU in the coming months as this one i think is about to give in. Was on holiday so missed the memo about the whole unbranded/crap PSU thing. Looking for 700W to 1000W of power, 2 EPS connectors cos my board can support it, many PCI-E connectors, and individually sleeved cables. Any brand but not hugely expensive. Keep budget under £150 but if must go higher then i guess i will have to. Majority of my buying is on eBay, but unless anybody knows who gives you a haribo packet when you buy something i that'll be great. I want the power so that when my GTX 660s go i can continue the dual GPU adventure with two other cards. Current one is a Powercool PC-750AUBA-B +3.3V @0.3-24A +5V @0.3-24A peak output : 199.2W MAX +12V1 @1.0-16A +12V2 @1.0-18A -12V @0.3A +5Vsb @2.5A There you go. Damn thing makes a racket during boot. Grinding and vibrating. might as well get a new one. woo 1,000 posts!

I'm going to try and keep this simple: My AsRock Pro4-m is all but dead at this point and I need to replace it. I have a budget of $400, but any money I save will be put towards MOAR Noctua products and maybe a new PSU. Microcenter currently has a deal where I can get a 4670k and a MSI GD-65 Gaming MoBo for $350 with tax. Now, I did some research and it looks like I could easily get $150 for my 3570k on Ebay, making the total cost of my upgrade about $200. HOWEVER: What if I was to buy a high end z77 board, such as an MPower or a Sabertooth, which are on sale @ Newegg for 199.99 and 189.99 @ Microcenter respectively (and the Mpower comes with some RAM I don't need)??? What would you guys do and what would you have/recommend? What features of Z87 convinced you to upgrade or plan to upgrade? I'm really disappointed on a whole that there aren't many/any black motherboards with white accents, as that would really look great in my system. The most important thing for me about a motherboard is that it lacks any really bright color scheme all over the place. I could probably live with GD65's dragons, but I'd really wish they were white instead of red. I REALLY like the z87 Sabertooth but I just don't know if it is worth going over budget for. Places I can/prefer to/usually buy from: Microcenter (tax) Newegg NCIX Amazon (tax) Fry's (tax) The faster I can do this the earlier I can publish my build!
