I tried turning on my 1 year old PC today - it was used very sporadically over the past 6 months (I moved somewhere else for work and couldn't take it with me), but it was still working fine last weekend. Today, nothing happened. When pressing the power button, the PSU made a single clicking noise and nothing turned on. Well, after going through the usual troubleshooting steps (and nothing working), I finally took the PSU out and heard something rattling inside. I was so scared that I somehow let a screw fall into the PSU that killed it after a year - sweating profusely, I shook the PSU aaaand something fell out. It wasn't a screw though: it's a broken Mosfet! Absolutely beautiful sight (from my perspective of being scared that I did something wrong), but also just really interesting. Any ideas how something like this happens (apart from part failure)? I spend the past 6 month doing an internship in the electrical engineering / semiconductor business (and this is something I will definitely as my ex-colleagues about), but I'm personally still not very knowledgable on this level of hardware. For now, I opened an RMA request with Seasonic (I hope they're actually a good company and I will be helped) - is there anything else I should do? E.g. testing my Motherboard / CPU / GPU to check if something died with my PSU? Also, I would love to hear about similar experiences or stories, I'm just curious Jogius

2 pin connectors uncommon? Swiveled IEM Cables? YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNOW TO TWIST A CCX CONNECTOR??? I might actually have a brain hemmorhage. Did you know ChatGPT can answer like basic questions and tell you like.... all about the connectors, what other IEM's use what connectors. I just..... What the hell. 1 - 2 pins Yes, at the 1200 to infinite money fr no reward end, theres no 2 pins. Look at anything under 200 dollars? Unless you SPECIFICALLY look for CCX or.... I think theres one that slides and locks in place? 2 pin connectors are like... stupidly common. KBEar, Any of the Z's, literally CCA's entire catalog is 2pins, and all this crap is on amazon. 2 - Swiveled Facepalms Ok yes sennheiser and maybe like.... yamaha has swiveled stage cables that are ALSO LIKE 4 METERS LONG. The swivel is because of the weight and movement.... not.... fitment... I've seen cables that were postmarket solutions, but not swiveled being common. CCX might have swiveled versions, but I haven't gotten to try many CCX. 3 ......Twist the CCX connector

I downloaded samsung Magician to check the firmware my samsung 980 pro is running due to all the reports of drives dying due to bad firmware. I think i might have ran into a different issue when looking at my firmware.. It currently states my drive has firmware version V0628A0.. I cannot find any information on this firmware version. See attached photo. I am also not able to update the firmware through the magician app because it states "the selected drive does not support this feature". What should I do next?

So while I was waiting on AMD to release hopefully a 7000 series 3d, I bought a 5500 because it was 120$ and in stock at work. Same day I brought it home and updated my Bios from 3.50 (Latest for my 2700x) to 4.70, which was the last stable version of bios my x470 Taichi MB has. Install went fine, but trying to boot I noticed it never fully went through all of the Dr debug codes like it should during the 3 restarts, it got hung up on the 2nd one, with the error 95. Tried to remove everything possible, cleared Cmos, same error. Tried all combos of ram I can do. Put in my old 2700x, and for some reason it boots? I was told this from Taichi's page, Do I assume that my bios update went poorly? or that I should just return the CPU? Pic of Bios and cpu Also Should I go back to the old bios 3.50 for my 2700x in the meantime?

I made a series of posts like this on the actual TrueNAS forums a few times, with the proper logs and configs attached, and got ignored. Quite honestly their forum is not a community which is not friendly to beginners and I've had better luck here. TrueNAS Scale includes a tab in the web GUI labeled "apps" which utilizes kubernetes and dockers to install and run various things like Plex, piehole, and whatever dicker image you please. I added the TrueCharts catalog and was unable to deploy an app so I sought out help from the TrueCharts discord. For some reason any time I tried to deploy any app I had RPC errors spat back out at me and it failed but after some troubleshooting with them it was determined that I had to set an interface and gateway IP under the "advanced settings" menu which was effectively sitting those options for kubernetes. Despite nobody else with a similar networking setup to me needing to do this it was necessary for me and got things to work for a while but after a day I decided to deploy thisthis docker image only to have it fail. I assumed that I just didn't know enough about doctor so I spent about a week doing various troubleshooting, watching tutorials, and reading of documentation only to discover that I was getting the same RPC errors again. This time no amount of fidgeting with network settings got it to work and I had to go into the shell and run a docker pull command in order to get the image locally and then deploy it to get around the issue. All that said while trying to get the storage settings for the MineOS dockerhub image the statisfactory image just stoped deploying properly after a reboot and keeps trying to pull it's docked image from the TrueCharts catalog despite having it stored locally. I have absolutely no god damn idea what's happening and I've thrown my hands up and decided to purge and reinstall TrueNAS Scale in hopes that it somehow works this time around, I've even gone as far as a burn a DVD instead of using the USB drive in case that magically gets me a different result as I had problems writing the image to a flash drive for my first install. My question is does anybody have the slightest idea as to what was going wrong and does anybody have any advice for this new installation to prevent this from happening if something like this can be caused by user error? I apologize for not having errors and logs on me for this post I was far to frustrated with this whole thing to pull all the logs but if it happens to me again I'll be sure to add them in a reply.

So I'm trying to overclock my GPU using Afterburner (r9 280x btw). Base clock is 960mHz, I've upped it by increments of 40 until I hit 1080. 1080 was unstable right off the bat, so I dialled it back to 1070 and it was rock-solid stable when using Kombustor. Super weird thing though. It gets very unstable as soon as I turn the Kombustor benchmark OFF. The screen starts shaking and acting very unstable as soon as there's little to no load. I open chrome, still unstable. Watch a youtube video?? Even more unstable. Then I watch a twitch stream and it's back to stable. Task manager shows that my gpu is about 8-10% load while on YT but at 60% on twitch. When I run the Kombustor benchmark in the background, chrome and YT are back to being stable while I'm at 100% load (give or take). I loaded up Borderlands 3, which I usually get 45-75fps in (avg is probably around 55-60). With the OC active, all that instability weirdness happens on the splash screens, all until the main menu is loaded (which is a fully rendered character model and background). I played for about 20 minutes in an area with a lot of enemies and combat and back to rock-solid stable. I even get significantly better average fps with the OC. Then I quit the game and BOOM, back to non-stable. Even when I do a 1mHz increase from base clock, this happens. I'm so confused. Isn't instability supposed to happen under load???? Not under 0 load???? Wtf?????

I had a Intel 660p Series SSD fail within a year of getting it, I RMA'd it to Intel and they proceed to lose it, run me in circles for weeks, ask for proof of purchase multiple times, and then close my RMA request with a "Your SWR case has been canceled as Intel has not received your product within the required 60-day period. If you still wish to return your product(s), please request a new case. Thank you..". Is this how Intel treats its customers now?

I have always been a casual PC gamer, until recently when I took and passed my last two college courses toward an AAS in Cybersecurity. I recently obtained my CompTIA A+, and Testout PC Pro certifications. One thing that I notice every time I watch Linus do a build (or anyone else on youtube), I notice a complete lack of ESD protection/consideration. I realize that CompTIA and Testout both have to explain that absolute correct way of doing things, with regard to any potential backfires in mind, but they really stress the importance of ESD protection, and obviously it doesn't actually matter. Is it all just a lie, or does Linus (or any other experienced builder) just know how to handle the components in a specific way? I realize LTT probably has insurance for damaged items, but I would think that, especially when dealing with these prototypes and stuff that Linus would be WAY more concerned. What is it that I just don't understand about this issue?

PC wouldn't boot up before, so I switched out the CPU and motherboard from an older PC whose PSU was fried. (Accidentally set it to 120V while connected to 240V power) No other known faults with the mobo-doner PC. The main PC has no lights coming on, no anything, except that it has 4 fans. 2 start, one doesn't, and one wiggles back and forth. I have tried shorting the power-button input on the DH61BE Intel motherboard (old, LGA1155 I think, for a 2nd Gen i7, though at the moment it has a 2nd gen i5 that I'll replace with the i7 if I can get the computer to work) but this did nothing. The CPU fan does nothing. The PC (before I replaced the motherboard) had randomly turned itself off/refused to boot, for no apparent reason, intermittently. The failures were getting more frequent though, so I thought it was a mobo issue. The only thing it does is move the fans when the PSUs are switched on. (Tried again, three fans were wiggling, CPU stationary) No GPU installed, I'm running it on intel graphics until I get it working.

Ryzen 7 3700x XFX Triple dissipation rx 5700 xt 32gb G Skill Trident RGB 3600 Asus ROG Strix B450-F ATX (BIOS is current) Phanteks Revolt Pro 850 Watt NZXT Kraken X63 Complete Build with all details here Ever since I built my computer (about 2 months) it has had a problem with unprompted / random restarts with no BSOD or other error message. These restarts almost always happen when I am trying to play minecraft, and it recently did it while playing gmod. I mention the part about those games because I can run CAD and other more intensive games all day with no restart problems. I have even tried running back to back stress tests and had no luck in triggering a restart. I originally tried a fresh windows 10 (pro, 64 bit) reinstall. After that failed to help I replaced my power supply with the 850 Watt unit listed above. This did not fix the problem. I have also confirmed that it is not my ram by switching between the two kits that make up my 32 gigs. Another thing to take note of is that I am unable to run the included XMP profile as it does not stick after saving in bios. I have also experienced instability when overclocking the gpu beyond stock (restarts experienced at base clock), which is why I replaced the PSU ( I thought it was a wattage problem).

Where to begin, after watch linux. I decided to build my pc in a desk. It ran good for 1 year, them i started to had issue with random bluescreens. The Debug code is 'D-3' in my motherboards manual which says that "some of the architectural protocols are not available". What gives here? I have a Gigabyte X570 Auros Master. The rest of the specs are listed below in the 'signature' section.

So, the background of it is really long, but basically due to wide system corruption on my local plex vm, I had to migrate it to a new server, and decided that this time i will use deluge as my torrent client, and not utorrent... mind you that the system corruption has been going for about two to three months now, since a power outage, and i did anything in my ability to try and rescue the server itself for the last 3 months, so i did not really used utorrent... So, the way it was set up on my old server, and is still set up now is that I have plex running on my ubuntu server (moved to container of ubuntu this time, but still...), with utorrent (now deluge) client running as well, with pia socks5 proxy set up, for... security reasons... Anyways, I just finished migrating all the data and setting up the plex server, and wanted to test the new client, went to set it up and try a test download to make sure its all working and playing well with eachother, but the torrent wont run, it recognize the files, and just wont run! After debugging and googling for a while I decided to contact pia to see if they have a solution for running vpn on headless ubuntu server, after the 'agent' told me there is a problem with the socks5 proxy for about a month and a week now, and this was her reply!!!!!!! "Actual operating system"?!?!?!?! Please tell me I'm not just geeking out here and being insulted in behalf of linux.. Thanks, Sagi, advanced system administrator of not actual operating systems...

My current issue is that applications in windows will freeze upon opening or randomly during operation. The duration of these freezes vary, from a few seconds to 30/40 seconds. While this occurs task manager show the disk usage at 100%, despite nothing being written or read on the ssd according to tskmngr. My ssd is not full i have 163gb free. All i have on there is my drivers, utilities(RGB and web browser) and windows. I have reinstalled windows with the hard copy, because for some reason the restore OS option without disk failed repeatedly. I had to delete all the partions of that disk due to some formatting error. My build: Ryzen 2700 8 core, gigabyte b450 aorus pro wifi rev. 1 (bios ver. 52) 32gb(2x 16gb) DDR4 2933mhz corsair vengeance rgb pro, ROG strix rx 5700 xt. Hard drive in question is PNY 223.6gb (passmark) ssd2sc240g1sa754d117-820 Is my ssd bout to join the choir invisible? Any recommendations as to what storage to get?

Hello all, I am so confused about my current situation so in a last desperate attempt for to save myself I come to ask people that probably knowing about networking way more than I do. I followed this guide HUAWEI HG8546M Router as access point | Tom's Hardware Forum to use my second Huawei HG8245H router as a secondary access point so I get wifi in a closed room. At first it worked great! I had wifi enabled successfully in my room and all is well. A few minutes ago I tried connecting my first new device (my nintendo switch) to the network using my second router and oddly i couldn't. After a whole afternoon of it working perfectly I thought I had set a device limit and should increase it... And it goes to hell from here. So first i eliminate the first router from the equation and just concentrate on the second router, the one I'm using a a secondary access point. I realize that I cant do 10.0.0.1 to access the admin page. From what I know that should always work, but I had set previously a static ip as its part of the above tutorial. I tried that too and nothing. I start to freak out and i factory reset the device. I tried 10.0.0.1 again as its whats on the back of it as the default address... and nothing. Then I notice I have this as my wired network. Weirded out by it, I tried to run an ipconfig (as the default getaway should be address to access the admin page)... and it comes up empty. For some reason I decided to troubleshoot from windows and it returned this. But then, i turned on wifi and I notice i see my original router name on there, and I was able to log in successfully and actually enter the admin page again! I renamed and changed the password (name is claro-010) ... So here I am. I can access the admin page through wifi but ethernet seems to be completely dead for some reason I cant comprehend and I have no clue what to do about it. this is after a factory reset too. help!

So I got bored at home didn't really want to game because I had to be some where in a half hour, so... I started building my dream PC that I want, but then I got curious and decide to see what the cheapest build was on pcpartpicker.com. But I didn't really search very hard to get super cheap. All I did was sort each page to low to high and click the first thing in the list. If anyone buys this and builds it or has the parts and builds it, please tell me how sh*tty it is. I dont really know what's the cause od that, it overlaps with my cat spilling some beer on the monitor, but its doesnt seem like a screen issue. Now to exactly what is happening. When im playing a game, everything slows down, exactly like if you slowed time down, and then it speeds back up to catch up. It happens constantly and a whole cycle takes about 2-3 seconds. Help
