Hi everybody! Here is the issue I've been having: The PC in my parents' house all of a sudden started having problems with the mouse cursor. More specifically the cursor moves in almost a zig-zag motion when you try to follow a straight line..it also moves much slower than before (I needed to up the dpi level quite higher than before). The problem is so bad that the pc is unusable! After testing I realised this only happens with wired mice no matter which usb port I choose to connect them to (I already checked the mice and they're fully working on other PCs). I tried reinstalling drivers even a fresh windows 10 installation but no luck! My wired mouse used to work just fine with the same OS and hardware..I'm afraid the problem lies in some hardware (I'd say cpu or motherboard) defect! The PC is quite old with a modded lga 775 mobo and an E5450 Xeon (custom latest bios) and a gtx 760 This however shouldnt be a problem since like I said it used to work just fine even in windows 10! Any ideas would be much appreciated! I would really like to avoid upgrading the platform till a few years down the line.. Thanks in advance! PS. For now I've resorted to using a wireless mouse wich seems to work fine but it's of much lower quality than my wired one

I work as a Tech Support Engineer. I have to take calls from customers as part of my day job. We have a Cisco IP phones at work which has Bluetooth. 1. I want to pair the headset with the Cisco IP phone and take calls. 2. I watch a lot of tutorials on my work computer. The work computer has a headphones jack and a headset jack. We cannot plug any USB device to the PC. So, I would like to connect the same headset with the 3.5 mm jack to the computer and watch videos. I have never owned a bluetooth headset. So, is it possible to quickly switch to bluetooth and answer calls while watching videos on the work computer? Also, the people who sit close to me are very loud people. So, the headset should have the best noise cancellation so I can have them on all the time as I work. So the headset should have three features. 1. Noise Cancellation to work peacefully 2. Bluetooth to connect to Cisco IP phone 3. Wired 3.5 mm jack connectivity to connect to work computer I didn't not have any luck finding that have both feature 2 and 3 available. Feature 1 is also very important. Please share your insights and help me find the best headset. This will help my productivity at work.

Hey everyone. For the last few days, my internet has been disconnected on boot start from my desktop PC. It'll take a few minutes to reconnect, but this wasn't happening when I first put the computer together since a month ago. I haven't played with network settings or anything, its just automatically disconnected on boot and will take 1-2 minutes to reconnect. Anyone know the issue or way to solve it? I'm on a wired cat6 cable linked to my router, which is then linked to my main modem with wired cat 6.

Hi guys - I am looking for good quality, long lasting earphone/bud things.. ya know what I'm talking about. I don't mind spending more money on equipment/tech that lasts a long time so don't hold back on the expesive stuff! It would be great if they were WIRED with a microphone too. Even if not a model, just a company/brand that make good products would be excellent. I've had my Apple earbuds for just over a year and want something a bit better than that... Cheers!

Internet Speed Difference: Wired vs WiFi on same ISP
Mortimer Reed posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi, I am currently on a bundled phone and DSL plan and my initial internet speed was 2 MBPS max download speed (averaging 258 kbps on torrents and steam). My ISP made an upgrade and my max download speed became 5 MBPS. However, whenever I run a speed test, it still shows 2 MBPS as the max download speed. The test was done using my Desktop PC connected to the modem via cable. But when I run the speed test using my mobile phone, which is connected to the modem via WiFi, the speed is 5 MBPS.I then bought a USB WiFi adapter and connected my Desktop PC via WiFi and I got max download speed of 5 MBPS (averaging 680+ kbps on torrents and steam). I tried getting help from my ISP's tech support several times. They run remote diagnostic tests and claimed to have made changes to the settings on my account but alas, they could not help me and could not even answer why the connection speed is faster via WiFi over cable. My suspicion is I need to replace the cable or the modem but my ISP's tech support said that no replacement was needed. Any thoughts on this? -
Hey LTT Forum! I am planning to upgrade my headphones in a few weeks and am struggling to find one that I am satisfied with. So here I am, asking for your experience and recommendations... In terms of requirements; Less Than £200 Over-ear design I plan to use this strictly in my home so I don't care if they are open/closed backed. Bluetooth is not needed due to the extra cost and i don't care about impedance, as I will just buy an amp along with it (if needed). I do like my bass, so preferably I would like a pair that don't compromise it. Hopefully there is someone who can help me with this. And as always, thanks for the help :)

Hi, I've been having problems connecting to my Minecraft server, which is about 10 feet away, via internet, so I'm wondering if I just plug the two computers into eachother directly via ethernet if I could connect to the server that way? And if it requires extra setup, what do I need to do? I'd plug both into my router, unfortunately I can't do that due to the router being upstairs and at least through 2 hallways.

looking forward to get the new G502 Hero, but based on the price the wireless seems too far off and it seems logical to get the wired one. is it worth it to pay the premium for the wireless option? any constructive opinion is appreciated.

Hello, I've been using my PS4 Slim with a Wireless connection for over a year without any problems, averaging a 20 Mbps download speed (measured both with the PS4 and a separate Ookla speed test). Recently, after having upgraded part of my home network infrastructure, I've decided to switch to a Wired connection in order to get better speeds, right? Wrong! It alternates between failing to connect completely or having a download speed of 2-200 kbps. My normal network configuration is as shown in Fig. 1. Please note that the 10m long Cat.5 cable runs through the walls, so it is unavailable for upgrading. This is the router and these are the network switches (without management). Fig. 1 - Normal network configuration. I have made several attempts to fix the issue, including: Configuring the PS4 Wired connection Automatically and Manually. Changing DNS servers (including Google's). Rebooting / Resetting the router. Shutting off or disconnecting every other device on the network. Bypassing one or both of the network switches (and chaining the cables together using couplers - see Figs. 2-3). Detailed speed measurements: PC 1: 70-90 Mbps. PC 2: 250-350 Mbps. PS4 (Wired): 2-200 kbps. PS4 (Wireless): 15-25 Mbps. Laptop connected @ PS4 node: 80-90 Mbps. PS4 (Wired), bypassing Switch 2 (see Fig. 2): FAIL to connect to internet. Laptop connected @ PS4 node, bypassing Switch 2 (see Fig. 2): 75-90 Mbps. PS4 (Wired), bypassing both switches (see Fig. 3): FAIL to connect to internet. Laptop connected @ PS4 node, bypassing both switches (see Fig. 3): 80-90 Mbps. Fig. 2 - Bypassing Switch 2. Fig. 3 - Direct connection - bypassing both switches. Nothing I've tried has fixed this issue so far. Is there anything I'm missing / any solution to this? Thank you for your time and help!

Need to replace my system. Would it be better to buy or build? Been a long time since I've done either so I'm pretty out of the loop in terms of what's considered good for gaming rigs. Something that can run Black Desert or Path of Exile on max settings without issue and room to upgrade/change things around.

I just got a gigabit per second Ethernet connection in my house. The download speed on speedtest.net reaches 600 mbps, which is enough for me, but my upload speed is only 17-18 mbps. This is slower than my wifi upload speed that reaches around 25 mbps. My friend who lives a couple minutes away also has a gigabit speed and gets 650 mbps down and 550 mbps up. I tried different cables and different devices and none of them change anything. Is there a way to increase the upload speed?

I have a friend that needs to run ethernet from his house to his garage, about 150-200' depending how it is ran. What are some good routers or switches that wouldn't be to expensive and could support this distance. He will be running the cable underground.

Hello all. I've looking around for a new wired headset or headphones with a third-party attachable mic like the V-MODA BoomPro. The price range is up to £100. Suggestions greater than £100 can be considered, but since I am not the only one paying for it, it would be very unlikely that we would go for that headphone/headset if the price differs greatly from £100. The budget must include the price of any additional items suggested and based upon UK prices - we will be most likely be going for Amazon.co.uk so that we can try a variety of headphones/headsets and take advantage of their return policy. The main purpose of these headphones/headsets will be gaming on games where voice communication will be reasonably important (Arma 3 via TS3), but not for professional purposes like streaming/recording. Particular features of interest are: over-ear, open or closed (suggestions on both would be nice); stereo sound output (couldn't really care about surround sound, virtual or not); wired, preferably with a cable that can be detached from the headphones if I am using something like the V-MODA BoomPro; reasonably clear microphone (able to pick up a somewhat-deep soft-spoken voice) that doesn't pick up too much background noise (there is a lot of background noise); microphone must be attached to the headphones since there are not many good places to mount a boom arm or place a stand. I realise that the fourth bullet point might be a difficult task to achieve, so it is preferred to not pick up too much background noise over worrying about slight muffling. Many thanks, Melonize.

Hey everyone, Right now I have a Netgear nighthawk x4s. I have about 25 devices connected to it. My brother's and I have our computers connected to it. I was was also thinking of connected our house's other devices like a XBOX, PS4, and some smart TVs. Our connection to the INTERWEBS gets slower and slower as we add more connections because of our bandwidth. I was thinking of adding a second Netgear nighthawk x4s router to increase it and place it on the other side of the house, would this increase the bandwidth and help our connection. My wired computer went from 350 megabits a second before we started adding devices down to 100 megabits a second. I am currently in the process of renovating my garage into an additional room. My PC is being moved out there. I am taking this opportunity to wire my house with Ethernet. I know I will want 20 ports throughout the house right off the bat. This also needs to be able to accommodate my mesh WiFi. I know enough to be able to get on Amazon, buy a box, plug the wires in, route them throughout the house, yada yada. But I don't know what little details I should be on the lookout for. So I'm hoping y'all can help. I don't need anything fancy. I do edit video for a YouTube channel but I'm not sending 4K files to a rendering server or anything, so if not getting 10 Gigabit will save me some cash I prefer to just get something that will do the job and upgrade later if things come to that. Most of what we do is gaming on PC and consoles, and Netflix, YouTube, the normal stuff. I am going to be starting a small electronics and PC repair side hustle, so there will occasionally customers PCs on the network. I also want to be able to add additional Ethernet lines if I need to, so something bigger than 24 ports would be nice. Any help or pointing me in the right direction is much appreciated.

I'm running a Ethernet cable from my router to a back room that gets no wifi signal. I'm putting that cable into a switch for my wired devices (PC, consoles,) and I need wireless back there too for wireless devices. Would I use a repeater or extender or what, that would plug into my Ethernet cable to give me wireless back there? Can anyone recommend a product? Thanks

OK, so I'm about to move into a new house soon and since I'm renting, I can't make any modifications to the house. I want to be able to have my gaming setup in my room like normal but have it connect to the TV into the loung. I'm currently running a pretty typical setup with an oculus quest which I use link with a bit. I want to be able to have an hdmi input and USB 3.1 in the loung that connects to my computer in my room (about 15-20 metres away. I want to say 20 to be safe. I've looked at my options and it's easily doable by buying hdmi or USB 3.0 to ether net converters which is way too expensive). What I'm wondering is if there's a DIY option or just a cheaper alternative. I don't have too much knowledge on the subject but to far all I can think of is buying 2 raspberry pi's (one for each end). Like I said I don't know in detail how this all works but I know there must be an easier and cheaper way to accomplish this. Thank you.

My home network is made up of a router, and four desktops connected via ehternet cables, and ocasionally, some smartphones via WiFi. Our ISP provides a guaranteed 50/20 MBits down and up, and on three out of the four desktops we achieve around 70 both up and down. My issue is, that on the fourth PC, we can only get results of around 10 MBits both down and up. So far, I've updated the BIOS, the LAN driver, reinstalled Windows, and also tried swapping cables, but my PC got the same 70/70 results, whereas my brother's PC only recieved his usual speeds of 10/10, so for me, that means that the cables are fine. My brother has recently moved out for a few months, and at the other location, he has managed to achieve the speeds provided by the ISP over there, without any issues, which lead me to think that it's not his motherboard causing the issue. I've also messed with the Duplex settings within Windows, and disabled any bandwith restrictions on both the router and in Windows, but I couldn't make any progress. Could you guys give me some feedback on what should I try next? Thank you for your replies in advance

Hey LTT Fellas, Need a suggestion in buying over the ear headphones or earbuds which can be both wired or wireless (preferable) around 15,000 INR (~220 USD). Basically I'm a bass head, and I would love some extra punch and if it comes with codecs like aptX it would be awesome. Please suggest me some headphones or earbuds. For this price range if it's with ANC, I would definitely go with it. Please post some suggestions. Ty in advance. Sites from which I would buy. I am looking for some recommendations for wireless (or possibly wired) headphones preferably less than $200 dollars. I currently have an iPhone 7 and use wired headphones that run through a headphone jack to thunderbolt adapter. The idea with a wireless headphone purchase would be to eliminate the problem of simultaneous charging and listening. However, I am also worried that this solution is going to replace the occasional issue of needing to charge my phone while wanting to listen to something with the likely much more common issue of having headphones with no charge left. I am therefore also interested in any wired headphone recommendations. Any comments on this issue would be appreciated. I am not very picky about audio quality. The threshold at which I stop hearing the difference in quality is relatively low. Additionally, I mostly listen to podcasts and audiobooks, not music. So if there are headphones that somehow make voices clearer to understand, that would be a desired feature. Which ever solution (wired or wireless) I go with, I will be stuffing these headphones in my pockets a lot. I usually loop the headphones in a figure 8 coil before doing so, but this strategy for avoiding knots and undesirable wire stresses only works if I take them out of my pocket again after an hour or less. After that, they are knotted just as badly as a traditional circular coil. This headphone storage choice has made me a destroyer of wired headphones (I think I go through 2-3 pairs per year). All of these have been cheaper pairs since I know I tend to break them. Are there pairs that advertise anti-knotting or greater reliability / lifetime before a wire inevitably breaks?
