I got a sweet deal for a 8700k and Asus prime Z370A, but the problem is I cant go to his place, check and then buy. But he is sending me the video showing the inside of the case, the bios and also some stress test. Is there anything specific that I should be looking for?

Basically I'm building something that will have dual-socketted xeons and SLI out of old server parts. By my calculations I'll need at least 1500W of high quality power connected to an E-ATX board. Can anyone recommend me something made within the last decade that can reasonably be expected to run reliably, overclock CPUs and GPUs when needed, and supply at least 1500W of juice, that I can purchase preferably used on eBay? I'm going for cheaper-but-hopefully-still-reliable-used power. Thanks

I have the option of buying a used computer or a few from the school my wife works at. Not sure if they are worth my time to use in anything, my hope would be to convert into an easy home theatre pc. Should I? Lenovo Thinkcentre M57p 4gb ram, 160 gb hdd, E8400 Core Duo 3Ghz, Gigabit network port, cd/dvd drive. Thanks!

It seems almost criminal what new laptops are going for when you take a couple hours to browse the used market. As Linus says in a recent WAN show, used hardware is actually really good these days: Case and point, the laptop I am currently typing on an ASUS Q304AU 2 in 1 I picked up dirt cheap on Ebay. Specks CPU- i7-7200U Graphics- Intel 620 screen- 1080p "HDR" 8 compatible touch screen RAM: 12GB Storage: 1TB HDD Price: 230$ (with free shipping) plus 34$ 8GB DDR4 from Amazon (free prime shipping) = 264$ Misc- webcam, 802.11 wiFi, Bluetooth, fingerprint scanner, full screen adjust with auto switching to tablet mode, 1 usb 2, 2 usb 3, 1 usb c, mic/headphone combo jack, sd card reader,(minimal wear to aluminum shell) Name: Silvia (because the aluminum case looks like silver to me) This thing is a testament to how awesome the used market is right now. It gets 5 hours of charge at a reasonable brightness even without replacing the old battery.... that's right folks I said replacing; in the modern age you cant take upgradability for granted. This thing has several user upgradable parts: RAM (4gb soldered and up to 8GB dim), sata hard drive (my next upgrade will be an SSD), removable battery, and removable wifi card. the screen is surprisingly good and complements games well; and oh man can this thing game. It blows my freaking mind that I can get playable frame rates at 1366x768 at low in fallout 4 on last gen Intel 620 graphics. Oh and playing games on this with it propped up in tablet mode with an XBOX one controller and headphones hooked up via the on board Bluetooth is an absolute treat. The speakers while nothing to write home about are surprisingly decent given the size, and the build quality is decent especially for the price. TLDR: I got a crazy good laptop for 264$ shipped and you can and maybe should do the same.

So, I found a person who is selling an MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X for 350 euros. It was used for mining for about a year, and he set it up so that the card runs at 70% load whilst mining. The card has 2 years of warranty. Should I buy it? ATM I have a GT 610.

Hi! I'm looking to upgrade the CPU/MB/RAM of my W10 desktop PC. The computer is used for different tasks, but mostly programming (in PHP), browsing the web and some gaming once in a while. Since I have put together and fixed a couple of computers, I feel confident upgrading myself In the past 2 years I didn't really follow the releases so closely, so I don't know which hardware is best etc. Preferably I would like to buy used parts, due to the imo unreasonable pricing for new parts. As mentioned the daily workload consists of programming, browsing and gaming (I'd like to be able to play new AAA-Games ). Does anyone have recommendations which used CPU (MB[Chipset]/Ram) to buy used, bang for the buck wise, but still performing decently for the workload mentioned above? I'm not planing on overclocking the CPU so I was thinking about something along the lines of an i7 4770/4790 I'm very greatful for any help and advice I can get! Thanks! TL;DR: Looking for used CPU/RAM/MB Programming, Browsing AAA-Games Bang for the buck Opinion on 4th Gen i7 (4770, 4790) No OC

I am considering buying a used Thinkpad t440p dirt cheap and then throwing in an i7-4900MQ. I will probably run linux on it and do it for some light programming/web browsing, while continuing to have a main desktop at home. Will I run into any issues by using such an old CPU? Lets say if I am doing web development, or using Android Studio etc.

Hey everyone, I've come on here from time to time about my old toaster and I have finally upgraded. Actually the last remaining item from my old PC is my GTX 1050 ti SC from EVGA that's trash, considering I can't even come close the clock speeds others have reached with ease. Like literally everyone else can do +150 with no voltage bump and I'm barely stable at +50 so I've completely lost the lottery, and since the RTX series came out I've been looking into buying a 1080 ti from some enthusiast that has already stepped up. I found some refurbished Gtx 1080 Ti's on newegg for just over $200 I'm wondering if this is a good idea since it's through newegg and square trade has protection plans available. Or should I just save my cash for the 1160 or RTX 2050 which cost about the same but are new. As always any advice is appreciated, thanks

Hello everyone, I'm Tom from Poland, and i am going to tell you the story of my "new" rig. Sorry for spelling mistakes. (If you can, please correct me) I wanted to play some simple games, but my laptop (AMD based HP 255 G2) is on its last legs, and it can't play YT without crashing. The sollution was simple. Buy some old stuff and MAKE IT GREAT AGAIN! I found a guy who was selling an old HP Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor (2 core AMD Athlon). No RAM, no HDD, just the MB, CPU, PSU, case and ODD. He gave me a 512MB 667 MHz Apacer RAM stick and said if I want the computer it's mine for 40PLN that is about 10 USD (i will use USD from now). https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VrNDeyDGg-jBWlwmt4l808BJds9Kh1Nx/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KidMsDhLyWU0KtcTrg7cvTyMMsN9NGUZ/view?usp=sharing I bougt a monitor with it - a 17inch HP1702 (1280x1024) for 5 USD. After i brought it home it was cleaned so it would be ready for some upgrades. Starting specs: AMD Athlon 4450B @ 2,3GHz Dual Core 512MB 667MHz Apacer RAM No HDD No GPU (Could run on the onboard one) - It was nice (up to 256 MB) AT-2701FX - 100Mbs fiber networking - DELL? IDK https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f0Kg_LumvGXdGstovqs63aDsaq1k1zSn/view?usp=sharing First problem I don't have any 3,5 inch HDDs but i have some 2,5. By some i mean 4. 1. 80GB Something in perfect condition - Boot in my free Pentium 4 machine 2. 500GB HGST from my laptop - replaced with a Sandisk SSD Plus 120GB 3. Identical 500GB HGST from my mobile drive - sweet coincidance 4. 680 GB Toshiba from my clients notebook - On its last legs - My mobile boot drive, and pendrive. Because dc5850 has a RAID controler I have made my first RAID0 Array with the two HGST Drives for fun and the POWEEEER... or just for fun https://drive.google.com/file/d/19Z0JvEqorjot2lwQv4c5z5fN1GgaGURP/view?usp=sharing Seccond problem: Because i'm some kind of a hamster i have everything DDR1, DDR2, DDR3. Found this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wewGSELQiGICCHyxn1awqsPUNiswvFg8/view?usp=sharing 1GB 800MHz stick. It's a waste of speed but 1,5GB is better than 0,5GB(?) My mashine was almost ready. I knew that i can browse the web and watch movies on it, but i wanted more. I wanted to play Euro truck Simulator 2, South Park, and some other games on it. i needed a GPU. A guy was selling a Asus EAH4570 (512MB) for 8USD. So i bouth it and because is was old and the OEM fan was shot i ziptied an slightly newer one i got from a friend with some other pieces. Some case-cutting, and disassebly later the card was in! (I had to cut the frame of the case so VGA was usable) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cwEL6gnJ6g3-l3qcWfhH0JXfTzEM-Gj-/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xnY3OOTUU-B0k3Pp0rPYIVoqREryLPYF/view?usp=sharing Upgrade complete! no... no... One more thing. Later i thought i will need more RAM baseuse i told my fiance that i will make our wedding invitations. One week later BINGO! A company was selling a mix of DDR2 sticks for 1,5 USD/stick/1GB. I needed 3 GB so with the discount i paid less than 4USD for 3 sticks of kingstone 1GB 800MHz RAM. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1s41Nl2Zt8yOZjbcKeyD9E2CKqGIZVPxL/view?usp=sharing But how can you make graphics on a square 17 inch display? I'm not stupid. So i bought another screen. This time it's a Samsung 193P 19inch Dual Hinge Pivot Monster! for 8 USD. But the DVI cable was too expensive for my taste - 2,5USD https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_NQhGBI6pTpiV5tSnZmLpX3NWvTbS_q9/view?usp=sharing And finally, last week I bough a Kingstone SA400 240GB SSD for 15USD brand new at work https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SAwq5caG7IqLfzegLRHzq_CNm3Oas0Mb/view?usp=sharing Let's calculate: Case, MB, CPU: 10USD Monitor 1: 5USD Monitor 2: 8USD DVI Cable: 1,5USD Ram Upgrade: 4USD GPU: 8USD SSD: 15 USD ---------------- TOTAL: 51,5USD. The saddest thing is that i paid 14USD for a new keyboard and mouse Full album: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14Twqiu1JL09xmgF9nJ1IspuJqZ3CXZvz?usp=sharing Hope you like it!

So I've recently been looking for a new phone, but I don't wanna spend a lot on it. I was thinking 300 ish gives me a fair amount of options. but I've run into some issues. for 300 you are either getting brand new low tier phones or used/refurb that is 2-3 generations old. so my question is what is the best phone I can get for 300? and are refurbished/used worth it?

Well I bought this system for around 30 usd here in my country (Philippines) This PC was untested when I bought it. Its filled with dust and it really looks like it was not used in a long time. but when I try to boot it up the first time. It went smooth. Here are the specs: Amd fx 6300 Asus m597a motherboard 8gigs of gskill 1600mhz ram Gtx 970 strix And a corsair cx750. No storage drive. I still can't believe that I got this bargain. Hahaha. I think I can win the next scrapyard wars. Lol

Hello. So I recently got an old desktop from someone I know because he had gotten a new computer. He said that the gpu had given up. (It worked perfectly when I tried it) So now I'm sitting here with a pretty powerful system that I have no idea what to do with. Specs: Cpu: AMD 8350 Gpu: RX 290 Ram: 16GB Psu: 650W. Cooling: Noctua D-15, think it's their flagship model. No harddrive. First of all, i struggled to get this machine to post. The bios wouldn't initiate or anything. Turns out that the motherboard didn't like to have a harddrive connected. Tried updating the bios, the bios didn't update. Swapped from 32gb ram to 16gb, put in a freshly formated drive and a Windows installation stick, managed to install Windows and I got it to boot. Great. It's working So now. What do I use it for? Had some ideas, I have a pretty awesome Ethernet connection in my apparentment (1Gb/s!), so I thought I'd run a few game servers on it. That would use the 8350. But I would still have an R9 290 just sitting there doing nothing. Could I use it for mining? Or would that make too much noise? 290s get loud, no fun in having a vacuum cleaner on for 24/7. And would mining with a 290 even gain me anything? Another thought would be to use it as an HTCP, but I would still want to run servers, having a noisy system on in my livingroom/bedroom wouldn't be very nice. Lastly, I thought I'd use it as a mix-up of NAS, game server and server for other random projects, but again, then I would have a 290 doing absolutely nothing. Any other ideas? Thoughts on how I can utilize the GPU? Is there any gain from selling it?
-
I know that the GPU is really good and so as everything else but I'm not so sure about the CPU. I'm not sure so correct me if I'm wrong but inst that CPU for server usage? Also, It would be nice if you give me advice on what questions I should ask the seller about the pc. The super cheap gaming pc: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/sys/d/custom-gaming-pc-3ghz-8gb-ram/6761663399.html Oh and also one more thing is this pc a scam? To me it does not really look like a scam I think Its a really good pc for the price, plus I can always upgrade the pc later and even buy a new case and transfer the stuff there in the future but for now ill let it be.

Hello everyone! I've found a used 1080ti EVGA which is around 6 months old for 620€. It has had 2 owners already and if I purchase it I would be the 3rd. What's a good way of testing the card? The seller says he has a receipt from Caseking.de, so what could I do with it in case something goes wrong since I'm not the one who purchased it directly from them? Every answer will be much appreciated, cheers!

I have the option to sell my 960 to a friend for 80E and buy a used 970 for 150E or an 980 for 220E from a local company that's upgrading their machines. A 1060 6gb here costs 260E and wasn't able to find a used one in a logical price. So, since I'm REALLY TIGHT on budget, I would really like your opinion on the subject. Which one should I buy? (1080p gaming) Is the 980 worth the 70E extra? Again, I'm really tight on budget here... Thanks!
-
I found a used RX480 8gb for 140€. Should I pick it up? The seller said it wasn't used for mining and I could test it right there. I have a 2400G and 8Gigs of RAM, currently There's a 960 2Gig in my Rig.

Hello. I've found two online listings, one for a founders gtx 1080 for around £225, and a zotac 1070 mini for around £180. Either card would be good, but I'd be able to benifit from the extra performance. Which would you say is the better deal? Thanks in advance
