  1. Hi, can anybody please explain in detail of how to change from legacy to UEFI boot without losing any data or reinstalling windows? I got my OS on ssd, I tried changing it using command prompt but failed, not sure what mistake I am doing so it would be helpful if someone could guide me here
  2. Yesterday i aquired a 6700k and a Z170 Pro Gaming from Asus. This motherboard finally had a M.2 slot so i popped in my 980 Pro and installed Windows on it. But when i start up my system i am always prompted to my bios and not booting into windows directly. In the bios however i can load windows from that drive via boot override but that is kinda annoying. I am using the latest bios and drivers for the motherboard. I found some similar topics on various websites but nothing seemed to help me. Anybody got some ideas what else i can try? Thanks in advance RexDomi
  3. Hi All, I'm trying to prepare for Windows 11 and for that I am trying to activate Secure Boot from BIOS. I already have TPM 2.0 activated from Bios and my BIOS is in UEFI mode I've also checked that my GPU supports UEFI Now from my BIOS, I've tried to activate Secure Boot 1. I turned CSM Support off 2. Then I went to 'Secure Boot' option and set up a Platform Key (default from board) After doing this I was told by the system to ensure that my GPU supports UEFI and then I ENabled 'Secure Boot'. After this when I saved the changes and exited, my system went in to a sort of boot loop. This X470 Ultra Gaming board has 4 diagnostic LEDs and the boot, rather POST sequence normally does this, gpu->cpu->ram->boot and complete, I see the windows logo. But after enabling secure boot, it was going like this gpu->cpu->ram->gpu->...loop and teh screen was blank. I had to remove the battery to clear cmos and restore the system back. So now I would like your help on this, like is any settings I need to configure in BIOS, before i attempt to turn on secure boot again. My system summary: Motherboard: Gigabyte x470 Ultra Gaming (rev 1), BIOS version F6 Processor: Ryzen 5 2600 RAM: 16GB Corsair (8*2) @ 3Ghz GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 1060 6GB (OC V2) Thanks, Souvik
  4. Hello, I want to enable CSM in UEFI, I did it on my newer computer with similar specs (5800X, AsRock X570 PG mITX/TB3, WD SN750) At the beginning, I was thinking about reinstalling windows on C, but I can't do it right now, and now I want to save as much data on all drives as possible, for precaution, I made backups of most important data from C and D drives. I've tried mbr2gpt /validate /disk:3 (because it's my C drive M.2) and /allowfullos - it always looks like this - PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> mbr2gpt /validate /disk:3 /allowfullos MBR2GPT: Attempting to validate disk 3 MBR2GPT: Retrieving layout of disk MBR2GPT: Validating layout, disk sector size is: 512 bytes Disk layout validation failed for disk 3 When I tried desperately with AOMEI, it warned me that system partition and recovery partition are on other drives so the system might not load after reboot. (I'm not sure if it said about recovery partition, I uninstalled that program and warning was written in my native language) Then, i wanted to create EFI partition on my M.2 drive (disk 3) I disconnected all other drives, plugged in USB with Windows 10 on it, and I tried adding that partition via diskpart. Diskpart spat out error that this drive isn't GPT. So now I'm stuck in a loop and I don't know how to convert disk 3 to GPT, and I'm kinda mad, because i recently built a new computer with slightly better specs, and it starts 5 times quicker than my main PC, because it was GPT at default and i had no trouble with CSM enabled. I think that my D drive has system partition, because it is a clone of my first drive. So before I used SSD's, I installed systems on that drive. For some time i had 2 systems, one on that HDD and other on SSD. What do you recommend to do? As I said, it looks like I'm stuck in a loop and I can't format C now. My computer specs - Ryzen 7 3700X Asrock X570 Steel Legend GoodRam IRDM Pro 32GB 3600Mhz (Can't get rated speeds) M.2 HP EX920 512GB (disk C/3) SSD Crucial MX500 1TB (disk E/0) WD Black 2TB (disk D/1) WD Blue 4TB (disk G/2) XFX RX 580 8GB
  5. Are there any laptops where max charging limit can be set in the firmware (UEFI)? This could be useful in cases where one is using Linux on the laptop with it always plugged in since the software to limit the charge percentage is not mostly available in Linux and only on Windows. Are there any gaming laptop where you can turn on the laptop without opening the laptop with it plugged in? Like having power button accessible with laptop lid closed. If your laptop display goes bad, is it impossible to use the laptop with it connected the external monitor to access the firmware or boot-screen? Is it the case that most laptop manufacturer? Thanks for the input and suggestions
  6. I'm trying to install a new SSD onto my computer, and I wanted to backup my windows so that I could boot from my SSD. I backed it up using Macrium Reflect (free edition). Windows is now on one of my SSD partitions. When I went into the UEFI BIOS Utility of my computer, it showed that the SSD was connected in a SATA information section, but it didn't appear in the boot priority section. OS: Windows 10 OS Build 19041.630 Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. 0809, 2018-06-22 SSD: WD Blue SATA SSD 2.5" HDD: WD Blue PC HDD 3.5" According to the EZ Update program on my computer, there are no updates. Thank you.
  7. Hi friends! Just built myself a new PC and I'm very excited! Ryzen 5 2600 Gigabyte RX 5600 XT 6GB MSI B450I Gaming Plus Wifi G. Skill Aegis 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3000 Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 750W Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 1TB Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 NZXT H210 The Graphics Card came about 2 weeks after everything else, so I built it with my old PNY GTX 780 to get me up and running. Everything worked perfectly including being able to get into the UEFI. My 5600 XT came yesterday. When I installed it, my monitor gave me the message 'Input not supported'. So I connected to my samsung TV in the living room and it worked fine. I was able to get into the UEFI and into Windows. I installed the drivers, and then connected it to my monitor again. Now it still flashes the 'Input Not Supported' message a couple times, but eventually does boot into Windows. However, when I mash the delete key on startup to get into the UEFI it just says 'input not supported' and won't go any farther. I have to use the power button to turn it off, and then back on, and it will go into Windows, but I cannot get into the UEFI. The monitor I'm currently using is the Acer S271HL Gbidx. Anyone know what this is all about? I have a new monitor coming on Wednesday (AOC C32G2 32" Curved 165Hz 1920x1080), but I'd like to know how to solve the issue in case I encounter it again. Thanks for your help and insight! Edit- Not sure if this belongs in Graphics Cards or Monitors, but now that I think about it, probably Monitors. If a mod sees this feel free to move this post over there. Thanks!
  8. My core0 is holding me back on my overclock (i5 4670K) and I wanted to know, if someone knows how to set another core as core0. I am currently at 4.5GHz on all cores (1.260V, Adaptive, +0.005V Offset, 60°C under load) and I am still getting blue screens once a week.
  9. I have old PC as media storage and I want to migrate all the files into 1 HDD so that I can sell the PC later on. Issue is I don't know if the motherboard support 4TB HDD or not. spec: i5-3470 Asus P8H77-M Thanks in advance.
  10. note: everything is working fine on my pc, and my hard drive is dying, i can press f11 to enter select boot device on my board

  12. So my computer has been acting weird after updating to bios 4.30 for my ASRock B450m Pro 4. My XMP settings keep resetting after i turn off the computer, and also the splash screen settings and the bootup beep setting keep resetting. Anyone have any ideas. It's like the bios crashed from a failed overclock, but I'm not overclocking and it didn't do this before bios 4.20 and up. I haven't tried downgrading yet to bios 4.10. System Specs AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 32gb Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz ddr4 Intel 660p NVME Samsung 850 Evo SSD WD 3tb Blue WD 4TB Blue Nvidia Gtx 1660 750W 80+Bronze PS
  13. so i attached my new M.2 sata SSD into the mobo and created a windows 10 USB using the Windows Media creation tool i selected MBR and let it do its thing when i go into bios and change the boot to USB i get a blinking cursor and then it restarts to the HDD hence cannot complete windows installation i have a Ryzen 5 1400 with Gigabyte A320M HD2
  14. Hi guys, today I've got a special case for you to solve. A few days ago my PC started to take 15 years to boot. (PC specs are down below) When I start my PC I see first a white _ in the top left corner, later the ROG logo where I can go to the BIOS. In each of the processes it takes about 1-2 minutes and if I want to go to the BIOS I will have to wait. I've checked if my SSD is broken but Samsung Magician and Windows say it's ok. I've also flashed my BIOS but still no hope. To be honest, I have no idea what could be wrong, especially after I've done nothing to my computer in the last few weeks. Here are my specs; Ryzen 5 2600 ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR 'HERO VI AC Crucial Ballistix 16G 2400mhz ASUS RX5700 SAMSUNG 970 Evo 512G Thanks already!
  15. My PC has an XEON E5-2690 CPU with an X79 motherboard and NVIDIA K2200 Video Card. System uses the American MegaTrends BIOS. I installed Windows 10 without any problems and changed the all of the CSM BIOS settings to UEFI. It was strange because when I tried to Disable CSM, it would show a message saying "CSM can't be Disabled because Video is in Legacy Mode" But this wasn't true - it was set to "UEFI Only". I wasn't sure what to do at that point, so I changed that setting to "UEFI First" Now, when I try to restart the computer - nothing happens. The weirdest part is that I can't even get into BIOS. After pressing the power button, the system stays on the BIOS screen, beeps once (which happens three different times), and then the monitor display simply cuts off. All lights on the PC, keyboard, and mouse turn on and seem to be working normally - but Windows 10 refuses to start. Why is this happening? Did I just brick this motherboard?
  16. Why is my motherboard unable to detect/boot into the new SSD which has Windows 11 (confirmed to boot successfully from my other PC)? Things to keep in mind: Motherboard is already set to UEFI SSD is on GPT (Obv, Windows 11 requires it) Other PC boots fine with this drive's Windows installation Working PC has Gigabyte Z490 UD motherboard PC unable to detect SSD has MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge motherboard on latest BIOS If you need more info, please ask! What happened up to this point: I guess I'll lead with where it all began: putting Windows 11 on my PC. Currently the system was running a Windows 10 with MBR on the main SSD (970 Evo 500GB NVMe), set in CSM (Legacy) mode, had an outdated BIOS which didn't support Windows 11, etc. I had my work cut out for me, but all those obstacles had straightforward solutions. For this new install, I decided on using the secondary SSD which was used for game storage (WD Black 1TB NVMe) since I was fine with converting it to GPT and formatting everything on there. The SSD with Windows 10 on it was taken out of the PC and is not relevant. I updated the BIOS, changed the necessary settings to UEFI, had a Windows 11 installation USB ready. What could go wrong? Well after about 6–7 hours of being on the Windows 11 installation attempts fumbling around in diskpart and the bios settings—and even moving the SSD to a different PC (which had a WD Blue 1TB SSD already running Windows 11)—I came to the the conclusion that the drive was faulty, which by the way I still think I'm right about. I got about every error possible when getting to the final screen of drive selection on the Windows installation process. A few times it even worked, but none were detected by the bios on my PC. ^ Keep in mind this drive (WD Black 1TB) was unable to boot into Windows 11 on multiple PCs after a successful installation from USB, which was not the case when I bought a new SSD as you will see below Yesterday I came home with a new SSD (Samsung 970 Evo 1TB) ready to see everything work perfectly. I was almost right. I was able to successfully install Windows 11 first try; however, the bios still didn't detect it. I ran the SSD up to the other PC and this time it boots into Windows 11 easily. New OS install works fine on other PC. Why? Both motherboards are set to UEFI, have fast boot off (not that I haven't tried tweaking most settings like secure boot or fast boot off/on one by one to see if anything would magically boot). Still stuck here.
  17. Hello all, I come to seek help and suggestions from you all. Currently I have an MSI B-450 A Motherboard. The latest Chipset drivers from AMD are installed as well as the latest UEFI version. Windows 10 1909 is installed as of now. (I will be updating now to eliminate this being an issue) Currently installed on the board in PCI-e slots are: NVMe drive, GTX 1070, and newly Cisco VIC 1225 Fiber Channel card in that order. The Cisco card is also installed in an R2 server I own with no issues. The latest Drives are installed from Cisco (4.2) The Card Functions as it should Only when I go into UEFI and change a setting for PCI Express, it tends to not matter what setting. For example, changing the lane size from 8x8 to 4x4x4x4 then booting to windows 10 will make the card function. Then upon restart with the same settings will get driver error and no card will show up on device manager. I have tried different settings to see if anything sticks but no luck. VEN 1137 = Cisco DEV 004E = VIC 82 PCIe Upstream Port I am also aware of this post from Cisco containing a bug, but I do not believe to be part of my issue, due to this problem occurring with these steps taken still. The only other things I can think to try are updating windows 10 to 21H2 (Idk what good that will do) or switching the physical locations of the cards. I have also tried Hack Flags in the registry, but it does not actually fix the issue. The main thing here is, what is actually causing the issue? Cisco? MSI? AMD? Windows? Meee? I know Cisco will give me a big fat L for my troubles. Thank you for any suggestions. EDIT: Windows 10 has been updated to 21H2 with no change
  18. The problem: On startup, my computer gets to the UEFI splash screen prompting "please press F2 or Del to access UEFI bios settings". But then it hangs there. Pressing F2 or Del does not work. However, pressing Ctrl+alt+del does cause the computer to restart (so the keyboard is connected and the firmware is receiving key presses). Likely cause: While trying to reconfigure rEFInd (a boot loader), I used bcdedit (in Windows 10) to configure the moot manager path. I set the path to a bad value due to a misconception. After rebooting, the computer is now in this "stuck" state. The command I ran was: bcdedit /set "{bootmgr}" path "/EFI/refind/shimx64.efi /EFI/refind/refind_x64.efi" I have some guesses as to why the above value for path is bad, but I don't think that actually matters too much. Things I've tried: Resetting the CMOS. I was able to do this (LEDs I usually have disabled are back on now, their default BIOS settings), but this did not fix or improve the issue. Holding F2 or Del while booting Spamming F2 or Del while booting Unplugging all USB peripherals Trying multiple USB ports for my keyboard Plugging in bootable USB media Creating a FAT32 USB drive with just a bios CAP file named using the ASUS utility in an attempt to use CrashFree 3 to auto flash another bios version. With this plugged in, the computer still just hangs on the press F2 screen. My best understanding of the issue is that the bad bootmgr parameter is somewhere in the EFI partition on my SSD, and is causing the firmware to hang when loaded/accessed. This prevents booting, but also seems to prevent access to firmware settings. Perhaps because boot options are loaded and enumerated as part of the settings menu? As such, if I can just boot into something, I should be able to mount the SSD and fix the EFI partition. Or perhaps just run bcdedit or efibootmgr to overwrite the bad path value. If anyone has any tips or tricks for: Further troubleshooting Ways to get the system to boot into any OS Ways to forcibly get into the firmware settings Ways to flash a BIOS version That would be great! Also, if anyone who's super knowledgeable about EFI could explain why this might be failing the way it is, I'd love to learn that as well. If I can't fix this issue, I'd at least like to learn something (other than don't do this in the future). Video output gets restored as soon as the operating system takes over. I can reset the CMOS to get back to a working state but I'd like to enable Secure Boot on my machine. Toggling the dual BIOS switch on the card does not help. UEFI BIOS works on my old graphic card (MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB) Thank you for your help!
  20. Lenovo Yoga 920-13ikb bios 5NCN41WW currently with Win11, likely upgraded from Win10 in the past From approximately 2017-2018 Helping someone with their Laptop, it was working fine no problems, I went to the Windows Update, and it had Optional update of Lenovo Firmware, the UEFI update, I did that, and it said to restart. After restart, Bitlocker goes into recovery mode. PC Owner never printed their Bitlocker Recovery Key. They have 2 Windows Users, I only went into 1 of the users, and it was a Local User, not a Microsoft Account User, so it appears that Bitlocker Recovery cannot be accessed from a MS Account. I never saw the other user, so it is possible that it is a MS Account with synced Bitlocker Recovery Key, so I asked the PC owner to log into their MS account from another device, but I followed directions from MS, and MS account explicitly said there was no Bitlocker synced device in their settings. PC Owner likely never setup Bitlocker themselves, it likely came from Lenovo as part of their OEM Win11 that way. I have seen many computers with Bitlocker device encryption already activated the first time you boot into windows. If this is so, where does Lenovo originally provide the recovery key? They must provide it to the purchaser somewhere! It seems to me that in theory, if I perform a UEFI/BIOS version rollback, it will fit the Bitlocker checksum, or TPM key checksum or whatever it is called. I would also expect there is a button to push somewhere to revert the UEFI back a version. If this obvious feature is not provided by Lenovo, then my next question is if I manually perform a UEFI rollback, does that step destroy the TPM Key? If it destroys the TPM key, then it will not fix the Bitlocker issue. I have seen multiple situations on other computers where if I make a change to the EFI partition for example, then bitlocker recovery mode happens, then if i revert the change, bitlocker recovery mode goes away. That is what I am suggesting with the UEFI rollback. I am well aware of the difference between the UEFI motherboard settings and the EFI partition on the disk, no low hanging fruit to grab there. Lastly, of course no one will be shocked that the PC Owner has no backups of her files, and no cloud sync of her files. What options are left? I will try anything, thank you everyone so much!
  21. [!!!] LONG PROBLEM DETAILS, BUT PLEASE HELP. I WAS THINKING THAT MAYBE THE FULL STORY COULD HELP. IMG's of the COMPUTER https://imgur.com/a/63viO0Z So everything started on August 15 when I installed the newly released version of spiderman for computer (not the game being the problem but imma explain in detail everything). As you all may know, I noticed this game was refreshing to see was smooth and very well optimized. But it's very CPU-heavy. This is where the problem begin. I was in the game with only the discord and the game opened and streaming my screen to a friend of mine while a old discussion comes after my computer crashes as usual on heavy usage. My rig is an RTX 3060 TI ASUS Dual OC with Ryzen 7 5800X, Ballistix 16GB RAM 3600mHz, PSU is nJoy 500W and the MOBO ASUS B450M-K II. So since the game crashed I was forced into booting my computer once again and hoping in the call and my friend tells me that the issue might be the limit of voltage on the CPU (Default being 1.100V). All great as if in the past we discussed that I have this problem and I didn't knew why this occurs everytime some programs are heavy on a component (specifically the CPU). He told me to look up in the BIOS and watch out for the voltage limit of the CPU (I found it) and then first upscale it a little by pressing (+) once, i restart and see everything is great and then open BIOS and since I was so idiotic and heavily impatient I pressed (+) till it was red and 0.50000 thinking it will set the voltage to 1.5V and thinking that the red warning on the letters was only to announce that very lil stability issues may occur, i restarted it and it wont but, led lights on but no signal on GPU at first boot only the lights and the same for the every rgb in my rig and cooler (as well as the one from my cpu and gpu) like the coolers work great they spin no problem everywhere. The problem is it sometimes boot on the screen with only the logo and the [Press F2 or DEL to enter UEFI] but that screen is frozen and you need to force shutdown, unplug the cable, unplug from the button till the boot screen appears even though its frozen, and after that screen sometimes if lucky, a screen will appear (example in image that I took from google and its exactly the same screen I get) well in that screen as you see it detects CPU, memory, everything its detected, the GPU gets signal to the monitor which I guess means that the GPU works fine, and only in that screen I can operate to the UEFI BIOS. I will be completely honest while I was trying to reset the BIOS, I messed up and pressed the Chipset button thinking that it was the CLRTC, cuz I am not a master in all of this, I searched the manual of the MOBO and tangled it up. Instead of going to the CLRTC pins I pressed the chipset button (button which i was unable to find any details about what it actually does and its functions on Google). This computer is very important to me and my family since even though I only use it myself, my mom pays it monthly and its not really that cheap. I just wanna know what are the chances of the MOBO being corrupted just so I could get another MOBO and fix it. My only hope its for the CPU and GPU to be the problem cuz idk if the guarranty its still available and i will get busted if i need to buy a new GPU or GPU cuz not rlly that cheap in Romania :((. I will admit that I was stupid pressing buttons without the knowledge and at that moment the thought of removing the battery didn"t occur since I was so stressed and afraid to corrupt it entirely and so I forgot about removal of the battery and yeah. Every Help is welcomed and i would be so grateful. NOTICE: The only changes I made in the BIOS was activating TPM (I had W11 but this happened in W10 cuz W11 kinda unstable from my POV) Secure Boot was enabled, no overclocking except maybe the memory that was expected since yeah D.O.C.P. is needed for maximum potential performance and FCLK Frequency was on 1733 or 1766 (all of these before I set that and got the error) also I enabled CSM and Virtualization (cuz in the past i tried making vms but yeah). Also the BIOS was giving me major problems since it came non upgraded to latest BIOS version. I upgraded it succesfully to 3802 (As I remember.) Also the computer is a pre-built. That's all! Any advice or help is welcomed and I would be grateful if someone could think about what might be the cause and what could be replaced. My conclusion is maybe the MOBO but im uncertain and I dont wanna buy if im not 100 sure.
  22. Hello, I encountered the following problem, namely, neither the BIOS nor Windows 10 detect the LG GH24NSD1 optical disc drive. The motherboard I have is MSI Z370-A PRO, and the BIOS version is (freshly flashed) 7B48v2C. I have already tried rewiring the drive's connector cable to free SATA 3, 4, 5 and 6 ports, but the BIOS does not see the device in any of them. After those unsuccessful attempts, I updated the BIOS to the latest stable version, but this also proved unsuccessful. From similar problems described on the web, I also found out about the possibility of adding the EnumDevice1 variable to the registry path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0, which also brought no change. I also checked the chipset driver, just in case, and I have the latest version (Intel Chipset Driver 10.1.18508.8239) and the SATA AHCI controller driver (10.0.19041.1288). I've also tried swapping the places of the connectors of my secondary hard-drive connector, which works flawlessly, with the aforementioned optical drive, but appears that when I switch the HDD to SATA4 and the optical drive to SATA2, the BIOS detects the hard drive in SATA4, but considers SATA2 to be empty. I've also checked the cables for bent pins, and as far as I can tell, everything is fine. I've also checked too see if it could be the fault of the power supply cable, but it seems to be sitting firmly in the port. The only thing I can think of is that the optical drive is defective, but that seems highly unlikely to me, since I've actually used it maybe once or twice. In summary, the described kit is: OS: Windows 10 64-bit version 21H1 19043.1826 Motherboard: MSI Z370-A PRO BIOS version: 7B48v2C CPU: Intel Core-i7 8700K Recorder: LG GH24NSD1 I attach screenshots of the BIOS.
  23. Hello everyone! First off, thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm a little out of my league here. Here's my hardware: MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk AMD B550 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX (not sure which firmware, but I got it in January and updated it then) AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6x 3.70GHz 850 Watt Corsair RMx White Series RM850x Modular 80+ Gold 2x Crucial Ballistix BL16G36C16U4B.M16FE1 16GB DDR4-3600 Asus STRIX GTX 970 4GB 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 220 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe (MZ-V7S1T0BW) Some old 7200RPM HDD for storage Some old SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB In order to install Manjaro on my old SSD, I went into my UEFI settings and disabled Secure Boot, as well as CSM ("UEFI only" I believe was the other option). Later on, I wanted to change something else in the UEFI, but for some reason after the Manjaro installation, the resolution was extremely low to the point of it being mostly unreadable. I know I'm stupid, but I tried anyway, but it appears I accidentally chose the wrong option. I wanted to back out, but accidentally confirmed instead. I THINK I did something regarding GOP, Secure Boot and UEFI, but I don't know what exactly. Right after, the entire PC just froze up, and the only option was a hard reset. Ever since, my PC won't post anymore and the screen stays black (both monitors say they're not getting any signal). CPU fan, front fan and PSU fan are turning. GPU fan is not, but never did during boot-up. The keyboard will light up on Num, Caps and Scroll, and a few seconds later, only Num stays illuminated. SOMETIMES the EZ Debug LEDs will light up red after hitting the power button, one after the other, and go out again. SOMETIMES the "BOOT" LED will stay red. Here's what I've already tried: I've read and done all the sensible things in this thread: Tried to reset CMOS (through battery removal, as well as using the jumper method) many times, to no avail I've taken off all hard drives and SSDs, tried to boot with only one RAM stick in I have plugged in my Manjaro SSD and my GPU into an old computer, confirming that both are working (computer won't boot into the SSD's OS because the boot loader I think was on the nvme, but I can mount and use it in a live USB environment) Tried GPU in other PCI-e slot Tried both DVI slots and the HDMI slot, and different monitors Sadly I can't test the rest of the hardware in my old machine since they're not compatible. Is it possible that I accidentally activated GOP, and my GTX 970's BIOS isn't up to date and doesn't work with it? if so, would flashing a newer, compatible BIOS fix my issue so I can reset the UEFI? Did I somehow short my board and now my PCI-e lanes are fried? Or did a short somehow kill my power supply, not giving enough power to the GPU? Or is it really just the UEFI? Thanks for reading. Please let me know if any additional information is needed. I've been up all night with this.
  24. I recently changed a hard drive from a SATA to a M2 drive. However I have this weird problem that the PC is not booting after I cut off it's power from the outlet. If I power off the outlet, the next time it boots, BIOS. I tried CSM sometimes it works but only once, next time I turn on the PC, the same things happen again even though I didn't change any settings at all. If I enable Legacy boot mode it will tell me to insert a proper boot drive. Using UEFI on all the CSM settings will just cause it not to detect the drive at all. It won't show up on the boot menu. Switching off CSM just sends it right into BIOS. I am confused and frustrated, my drive supports UEFI and is even in the right format but it just doesn't want to boot and most of the times I just tinker around with CSM and it will magically work again.
