Hello everyone, I am a VFX Artists. I mostly work with rendering and compositing so for that obvious reason I was totally excited about building a Threadripper rig. So, I build my system with Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 and 1950x. I was using for a month then suddenly one day the system freeze and I had to force restart my system. Then I researched it for possible troubleshooting. People talking about high bus speed RAM. So, I upgraded my RAM from 2400 bus to 3200 bus still no luck. My rig still freezes without any working and with acceptable temperature. Guys, please help me with this problem. I can not understand what is wrong here. I am guessing it's a motherboard issue. Below, i have attached some images when my PC freezes and also my whole configuration. Looking forward to you guys. Hey I hope someone can explain this for me. So, TR4 motherboards has 2 cpu 8pin ports and I guess both need to be used. But I aslo see a lot of builds that uses 750-800W PSU and most of them seems to only have 1 8pin cpu power cable, so is there another cable people use or do they uses only one of the 8-pin ports?

is there any mohterboard with tr4 socket that has an integrated gpu on it ? my goal is a small case comuter wiht 1920 or 1950 threadripper , something as the zotac magnus lineup comuters . but I can't find such motherboard to make this build anyway , so if any of you know about such motherboard I'd be so happy if he told me it's name . thanks .

Am I the only one who's disappointed that the new Threadripper 2 lower end sku's on have 32 pci-e lanes. I wanted a 1950x for the 60ish lanes but was waiting for TR2 for hopefully a cheaper price on a 16/32, which we got kinda, but it only has half the lanes. Why couldn't it have more. #firstworldproblems

Hey guys, I wanted to get some opinions discussing the 2 products listed on the title. Enermax TB Pressure specs: vs Noctua NF-F12 Are the Noctua's worth the premium $$/additional noise for the added performance vs the Enermax offering? I already have the TB Pressures since they came with the LIQTECH AIO and was wondering if it would be worthwhile to jump to the 3k RPM Noctua due to the additional performance they offer. I would love to hear what you guys recommend even if it's outside of my 3 options. I do care about future upgradeability, but I'm also trying to keep my budget for this around $1k +/- $150

Hey Beautiful People of this Crazy Community! I got a challenge for everyone (myself included) and that is to put together a SMALL form factor WORKSTATION with a Threadripper 1950x inside. Is it possible? Step 1. (MOBO) Starting with a MOBO small enough for this, was able to find a wide variety of just 1! the micro-ATX x399 Taichi from AsRock. I couldn't find anything else out there for a TR4 socket (if you have please let me know). Step 2. (CASE) The cases for micro-ATX aren't all that small to begin with, and the variety of models are far more than what I browse through without getting dizzy. So, what would be a compact, very plain or classy (no need for RGB fanciness) case that would carry this beast considering: It would also carry 4x8 DDR4 LP RAM, 1x gfx1080ti, No HDD but SSD or even M.2 drive (960pro) for storage and a Power supply that fits the Case and can feed everything inside. Setp 3. (COOLING) And my biggest concern... Is there a way to keep the temperatures of this Mini-Workstation at reasonably low temperatures? I will be very happy to hear from you experts!

Yet, this is also pretty strange. First, since it's on two slides, AMD is releasing a Z490 Chipset, we've never heard of it before and no one yet knows what it means. Besides being a poke in the Intel marketing department's eye. Built in wifi, more USB ports and 10 Gbit Ethernet? No clue! We can speculate on that. We have our first real dates for the Threadripper refresh, though it appears we're not getting a new chipset with it. (Probably a good thing.) I'm going to guess 4.5 Ghz max boost on a single core, give they are the binned chips. In contrast, there's no mention of the Cascade Lake-X parts, which would be the X299 refresh. That's been expected for Q3'18 for a bit, so that seems strange. As Anandtech mentioned, it might just not be on this specific company's timeline. Also in Intel news, Z390 is coming far earlier than the 8 core Coffee Lake part, which seems on track for the actual launch of the 8700k in December. (8700k was a near paper launch with full availability in December 2017, which puts the 8780k(?) on track for the same window.) It's going to be a weird summer of Motherboard reviews with no associated new CPUs to test in them.

Cinebench 2 - 73.4c ? Idle 2 - 44.6c ? Conclusion; If you're looking at getting an AIO cooler for your Threadripper CPU, you are most certainly going to want the Enermax cooler! Where the temperature reached 95c, the system would shut down and therefore the test sequence ended (hence no results). The Enermax cooler did brilliantly, being rated at 500w+ it handles anything i can throw at it with ease, at 4.2GHz the CPU was reportedly kicking out almost 400w of heat according to HWinfo64, at no point were temperatures uncomfortable with this cooler, the radiator did not even get noticeably warm to the touch,

So I took a look at TR4 Noctua coolers and what the hell they all look like some sort of joke. I expected NH-D15 to be the first cooler that should be supported for TR4 but it seems Noctua didn't share my point of view so... Are there any more serious TR4 air coolers? I'm looking for workstation/server cooling so I'm afraid AIO is not for me for many reasons most serious one being weak long-term load performance and space for rad. I have neither space nor funds for custom loop. I use Fractal Define R5 with 10 HDDs using two 5" adapters

So, on the new year i bought a Threadripper 1950X & accompanying Aorus X399 Gaming 7 motherboard. I initially had an Asetek style cooler, which was simply unable to get the heat away from the CPU (because it's got a small coldplate). So i upgraded coolers and bought a Liqtech TR4 360mm cooler. Temps were insanely low! 4 months on however, temps are now at the point where i'm concerned about either the cooler or the CPU. Using my 24/7 OC setting, i tried Prime95, temps quickly shot up and the system ended up shutting off for overheat protection! Odd, considering i used to be able to bench easily at 4.2ghz 1.4v. I reverted clocks back to stock (and reflashed the BIOS just in case), and the temps were still high, reaching the temp throttle point of 68c within seconds (even my Asetek one didnt perform that badly!) Loading up a reference point overclock setting (3.75ghz @ 1.275v), i was getting 86c, considering i originally was getting 58c at that same setting when originally fitted, that's a 30c increase! WHAT?! Temps are ~30c higher than when orgiginally fitted? I immediately stopped the test and reapplied paste, oddly the paste had turned a slight tinted green colour (the enermax stuff that came with the cooler), but was otherwise still similar to how it was when applied. I reapplied the same stuff in the same method (4 x 1 inch stripes where the dies are) and got exactly the same results, obviously the green tinting had nothing to do with it. Is my cooler failing or is it my CPU? or something else? FYI readings from original and current were both taken using the same version of HWinfo64 with the Tdie reading. I understand Tctl is artificially 27c higher so i ignored that. Original Results; Current Results (3.75ghz @ 1.275v, same profile as Slight OC of original)

Right now I am using a 6800k on a asus edition 10 motherboard. I was planning on upgrading my cpu until I saw that upgrading it would cost as much as a ryzen 2700x and motherboard. Now I'm trying to decide which platform to go to or stay on the x99. Looking for pros and cons of each socket. I play games and video edit/rendering.

I'm trying to figure out if a Tr4(threadripper) water block would fit on a sp3(Epyc) building a dual CPU diy server for reasons and I want to see if. can make it basically silent so basically I want to find out if any water block can fit on the sp3 socket

So Im planning on building a ThreadRipper build soon: TR 1920x Aorus X399 Gaming 7 GTX 1080 AORUS Rev 2.0/Vega 64 (if it ever becomes available for a lower price in the near future.) 4x4GB Dominator Platinum 3000mhz 3x 7200rpm HDD's 3x SSD's My main Work on this will be Game Development, Gaming, Video Editing and some 3D rendering. Questions: 1: Can I temporarily use this build on a Corsair VS650 as this PSU has only one 8pin cpu connector? 2: How Does Ryzen perform on Unreal Engine 4? 3: How Does Ryzen/Vega vs Ryzen/1080 perform on Blender? 4: How Does Ryzen perform on Substance Painter/Designer? 5: How Does Ryzen perform on Visual Studio 15? 6: Are 2x8 pin CPU connecters absolutely required? Also Suggest a good compact ATX case for my build. PS. Id prefer if you have first hand experience of Ryzen/TR/Vega.
