So this was just a thought that popped into my head just now. So of course one of the most popular genres in PC is Real Time Strategy (RTS) and Multiplayer Online Battle Areas (MOBA), now depending on who you talk to who happen to play these types of games you will generally meet 2 types of people. One of the are people who learn all the keybindings and then there is clickers. I myself am a clicker (I don't play online or competitively so I don't really mind much). As a result I thought, given the fact touchscreen monitors becoming more well known and with the Microsoft Surface coming out I was wondering. Could you use a touchscreen to play these types of games? You could if you wanted to count all types of games on here (I wouldn't understand why but I don't judge) but primarily focusing on RTS' and MOBAs since they are overhead styled gaming that use the mouse more often for moving around and giving out orders. I remember when I went to Japan that is most of their arcades over there they featured a RTS styled game where it was a touchscreen and you command everything. There was also one where it worked a bit like and RTS and a Trading Card Game (TCG) at the same time. what do you guys think?

Hi! For my gaming PC, I only have one screen and I encounter problems when I want to do a quick research while playing, and some games won't let me open other apps while playing. I was thinking of getting a little touchscreen monitor, like around 8", between 50-100$ CAD, supporting HDMI. Is this a good idea? And if so, do you have any recommendations? Thanks! P.S: I have a Gigabyte RX 570 Gaming OC 4GB, and my actual monitor is a Lenovo T2454PA (24" Full HD)

I'm just a casual gamer but I enjoy good gameplay quality. On the other hand, when (trying) to be productive, I've found the touchscreen of my laptop very useful. I would like to know if there is any monitor that combines well this two things and what are your opinions about them. note: It would be great if I could connect a laptop to said monitor wirelessly (like using screen mirroring in many monitors and tv's) and still be able to use the toucscreen from the monitor. (I know in that case there may be lag, but this I ask for productivity purposes where I can afford a bit of it).

Hey there, I currently have an Alienware 15 R3 laptop (30Pin Display) my plan is to convert it into a Touch screen (40Pin Display) I'm currently investigating the process of it all, although I do need help to find a 30Pin Female (connected to the existing display wire) to 40Pin Male (connected to the display) adapter in order for the process to work. Also, it doesn't have to be Female to Male it can just be 40Pin (connected to display) Male to 30Pin Male (connected to the motherboard) I have found a Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Replacement LCD Screen Touch Screen FHD to replace my actual Alienware 15 R3 display. The side benefit to this change, I can use a Dell Pen to draw using my existing laptop without purchasing a new one.

Hello Guys, I have been struggling to find a driver for the touchscreen for ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP300LA. There's nothing on Asus website and I thought that Windows would deal with it automatically after installation but it hasn't and I don't know what else to do or where else to look for it. Laptop works fine just touchscreen isn't. Any tips appreciated, cheers

Windows 10 by default makes touchscreens left click after press. I'm trying to make it to where it left clicks upon press rather than after. I'm making human machine interface and I need to be able to send an input same as a mouse with my finger. I've got to hold things in for the period of time I'm pressing not just a single press.

So, I finally got fed up with windows 10 and decided to switch over to linux because the update that I had (that was forced upon me without my permission, even after applying the DWS and Spybot anti-beacon programs back-to-back to which didn't work apparently) slightly corrupted it's own partition as well as screwing up the networking functions. Not to mention some programs don't work properly anymore. I installed linux and yeah, so far so good. One problem: The touchscreen's HID function is f***ed. Every time I boot up into linux now I have to log in, and open up the terminal to run the command: sudo xinput disable <device id here, 10> and after 4 minutes it re-enables itself so that I have to re-run the command. It's getting so annoying. I now decided that I have no use for the touchscreen's HID function and so I will remove the module that enables the touchscreen's HID function to work instead! But, one teensy-weensy little problem: I don't know how to do that. So I do ask kindly if anyone can help me and walk me through the steps of doing that? Thank you so much in advance!

Hey folks...I'm looking for some guidance here, maybe some of you can provide some insight... My father-in-law was disabled after an accident and had his right side paralyzed, so he has difficulties handling a mouse with his left hand (he's undergoing rehabilitation). We already got a high-contrast keyboard, which is extremely helpful, and we're trying a trackball mouse, which is indeed better for him. But we also want to have a touch monitor so he can have an alternative in case he's experiencing difficulties with the mouse. Do you have any recommendations for that? We're looking for something around 24", preferably that can be set at an angle on the table to make it more accessible. I mean, I have looked online and found some models, but the ones that are in a good price range (<$400) are usually from brands I never heard of...like this one, which would fit what we need, but I'm not sure if the touch function works well: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824016174 Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

I have a hp Notebook 15.6' and I have been experiencing a lot of issues when trying to use the touchscreen. It works one day perfectly and then the next day it doesn't. I have updated the drivers, disabled then enabled the touch screen, Uninstalled then reinstalled the drivers, calibrated the screen more times than I can remember and yet it still doesn't work properly. There is no physical damage to the screen, nor has it been damaged by water. I can tap the screen anywhere and it works that way, but dragging or pressing on the screen is just not an option. I have attached a pic of me trying to draw straight lines on one Note. If any of you know a solution for this please help!! Thanks

Asking for my sister: Her laptop is too "bulky" and she wants a thin laptop/tablet w/attachable keyboard for school. No more than ~$1000 (CAD). She said her friend recommended the "Macbooks of Microsoft": Surface Pro devices. I guess a touch screen is important too. I'm not very knowledgeable about these types of devices, so I appreciate your help. What would be the best deal she can get for a device like this?

Hey! I'm looking for a new laptop for school, mostly used for taking notes so it doesn't need to be powerful gaming PC (have one home,... kinda). I need a touchscreen tho for physics while making sketches. Any tips? Preferably 1080p screen and a SSD. And ofc touchscreen. Up to 750$, would prefer if it cost less. btw. if you have any opinions on Acer Switch 3 which I was checking out, I wouldn't be mad if you'd tell them to me. Thanks!

Hello So I have an Acer Chromebook R11 lying around with Chrome OS on it (obviously). I was wondering if I installed Windows 10 on it using the various online guides, if the touchscreen functionality would still work. Does Windows have the necessary drivers or are there drivers that can be intsalled for this specific model? Or are there other ways in which i could get windows 10 software to run natively? Many thanks

Hey all, I've come for my Linux Tech Tips. So I've got this question that should actually be common, but my Google-fu didn't turn up a solution. I've got two 24" Dell P2418HT touchscreen monitors connected to a PC running X.org on CentOS 7, with MATE desktop. I've got the desktop extended across the two monitors as configured within MATE, one is left, the other is right. The problem I have is that the touch input is not scaled right, motion on one touchscreen causes 2x horizontal movement across both monitors. I suspect this is due to the fact that it thinks that the input device controls the entire desktop space, rather than within the limits of a single monitor. The touchscreens are connected to USB.What is the approach for configuring a particular touchscreen to move pointer only within bounds of it's own monitor? I believe the term is "mapping".Machine specs are as follows:Shuttle DH370 barebonei5-8400Intel UHD Graphics 630Monitors connected via DPResolution is 1920x1080 on eachCentOS 7.6.1810 (per /etc/redhat-release)I'm not sure where to start looking in terms of configuring the touchscreen inputs and bounds. This machine is intended to be used without mouse or keyboard.Help is much appreciated.

I'm looking for a touch screen monitor for my desktop set up. I'm making my desk set up as a dual screen and I would want my secondary touch to be below the main monitor near the keyboard so I've been really interested in these portable monitors does anyone know of a good monitor at a size from 15 to 22 inches with touch support

Here's the thing, I bought a little 8 inch windows 10 tablet and I wanna use it for old games and one of those games is "midtown madness 2" but it needs a mouse to start otherwise it crashes, and I don't really need a mouse since the tablet is touchscreen and I don't really want to have a USB stick out of it just to connect a mouseSo is there any way possible to add like a "fake" non existent mouse to the device manager just to trick the game to start? (something that would appear in the device manager as an HID-compliant mouse without actually having it?)

Ok. So i have a Zephyrus G i take with me to uni for notes and this and that. But the thing is it obviously doesnt have a touch screen meaning i cant write any notes on it. Now there is this device called the AirBar : I figured if i got this thing and paired it with a stylus i could have a machine that could easily take hand written notes too now. But its a $100 in Canada and stylus not included. yall have any thoughts on the matter or other options, alternatives? Just curious.

Got a project at work, and I am looking to getting 1-2 touchscreen TV's that either use a thin-client, or built in computer - Windows 10 OS. Any suggestions, or what's the ones y'all use? The use will be to either run a simple program of machine monitoring, and running a couple excel sheets (that can get very complex)

So I need a new gaming laptop but im struggling to find one that meets my criteria so i was gonna see if any of you could help me find one. So my criteria are kinda big so that's maybe why but i want to get a laptop with a graphics card or a cheaper one with a external gpu. Ok so for the one with the graphics card the budget is 2000 and I really would like a 1060 or maybe 1070 but it has to have a 8750h THIN BEZEL <---muy importante ,and relatively thin also it would be great with a touch screen but considering gaming laptops it would be fine if not. Now the egpu alternative: the budget is 1500 because 500 bucks for egpu so same criteria 8750h and thin bezels but this time it needs a touch screen.

My brother dropped my dad's Chromebook, breaking its screen. So, we bought a replacement panel on eBay from a seller with good ratings. The model number of the listing matched the broken panel (I checked it 3 times); the eBay listing very clearly says it is a touch screen panel. When the panel arrived, I performed a swap. When I powered it on, the image worked fine. However, it registered no touch. To troubleshoot, I swapped back to the first, broken panel (about 1/4 of it is still usable). It registered my touch inputs fine, so I know the rest of the laptop isn't damaged. I assumed that the eBay seller sent me a defective panel, so I got a free replacement from them. I performed the swap again and got the same results. I did the same troubleshooting steps, and the broken panel still registered touch. Could there be differences in the panels I didn't notice? I see the H/W thing, does that matter enough? Is there some calibration step I need to do? Attached are pictures of the panels as well as the laptop.

I have an HTC U Play which is around 3 years old now (as i remember) and Im having this touchscreen issue with it where sometimes its taking the inputs from the wrong places of the screen, sometimes it swipes back on forth between pages on its own and sometimes it doesnt take any input at all. The reason I say its strange is because I have never dropped this phone, so I can ensure theres no physical damage atleast. And the issue goes away when I press the power button and unlock it again, sometimes goes away for few hours, sometimes for a couple of minutes and sometimes it doesnt fix at all. Sometimes the phone requires one or more restarts to get the touchscreen to respond properly again. I thought something from the software side was corrupted so I reset the phone and with no apps installed, it still had the issue. I tried updating the phone as well and that didnt help either. I also noticed that the Issue has a greater tendency of happening when trying to use the phone while plugged into the charger. What could be the problem? Is the touchscreen in my phone giving away?
