This is my first actual post on here so pardon me if I set anything wrong. As a young video editor I've had issues with getting a pc and as of right now upgrading such PC, the inspiron 3668 is a pc I'm currently using and have used for the past year as I continue work for school and internship. I had purchased a GTX 1060 GPU a few days ago and I was doing research on what to do when i get the GPU and I knew that i'd have to get a new power supply and that alone is my issue. In forums I've read and the service manual my motherboard, instead of 24 pins for power, has a 6 pin connection for the power: I'm wondering what I could do to replace my power supply with a higher watt one? I've seen adapters for other dell systems and a 6 pin adapter for hp but don't know if those will work well with my system. Thank you in advance for reading.

Hi, I need some advice on upgrading a pre-built system, because I want something I can play some light games in and do work on. My first thought was to get a dell optiplex and just put a gpu in there, but I decided to come here and ask for advice. Also, if it is good to get a dell optiplex can someone give me a good recommendation for a cheap one I can spend around 200 quid on the system as I can buy the gpu later. Also will the motherboards be standard size like ATX, mini ATX ect, or will they be some special size. Thanks?

Hello, I'm new here so I don't know if this is right or wrong to ask but I need some help. I want to upgrade my parts on my pc but I'm not good at knowing what's good and what is bad. I'm looking to be able to play games like league of legends, pubG, h1z1, csgo, bo4, fortnite, warframe, and overwatch. With my current build I can get around 100 frames in League and CS:GO but whenever I try to stream them it goes down to about 10 fps. bo4, h1z1, and pubG, fortnite, warframe and overwatch all have framerates of under 30 even on lowest settings. I am thinking about upgrading to a gtx 1050 ti, I'm on a $140 budget for this but I wanted to consult experts so I don't buy somthing that won't work with my rig. Please leave sugestions and thoughts. I don't want to buy a gpu that won't fit in my case, or my cpu will bottleneck, etc. I've read that the gt line of graphic cards were not meant for gaming, which is probably why I've had little success with it. I'm also afraid of buying a graphics card that needs more power then my psu can supply. Thanks for any advice or oppinions ? Specs: Cpu: AMD FX-4300 Vishera 32nm Technology Quad-core - 3.8 ghz Gpu: 2047mb NVIDEA GeForce GT 730 (MSI) MotherBoard: MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) (MS-7641) Ram: 8gb ddr3 - can go up to 16 gb PSU: 350 Watt - ATX Case: Raidmax Horus

Hey, I am looking into buying a prebuilt pc. The pc has a gtx 1070 ti and a ryzen 7 2700x. The pc has a Thermaltake 600w SMART power supply. I have heard that bad power supplies can lead to it frying your other parts in your pc. The power supply has many good reviews about it. The only thing is it only costs around $50. I have heard that might be to cheap. First of all I would like to know if Thermaltake is a reliable company? I would secondly like to know if 600w is enough for my specs. Thanks for the help. (Sorry this was long)

Hello there new user just recently found LinusTechTips, 1st post So i've never got a real pc, and when I finally got the chance to get one late last year. I decided to go for the prebuilt for few reasons; Im not really comfortable building my own just yet and with the limited budjet I had it just wasnt going to be an option, with buying windows 10 among other things. So i had around 600 euros (or at the time of writing this around 688 USD) for the pc and Black Friday was around the corner ( yes we do have it even in Europe (Finland to be more exact)). I surfed for few days around popular online and irl shops and decided to go with the following setup from HP Pavilion "gaming" 690-0801no. It features the "new" 8th gen Intel I3-8100 processor, GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, 8 gb DDR4 2400 MHz RAM ( only uses one 8 gb module so i can add another one), 128 gb SSD and 1TB hard drive. Im actually quite happy with what got for the money, but Im not really and expert on any of this stuff so i decided to go for it and post this thing here for you guys (hopefully) to critique me, compliment me or otherwise just give your opinions. eager to hear from you all ^^ All the hate for buying a prebuilt pc is accepted but i had my own reasons why i chose to go this route, and i can elaborate later if anyone wants to know more. So did i get "scammed" or did i actually buy a decent prebuilt rig that will serve me for atleast few years before i get comfortable enought to build my own? Im leaving one link for Userbenchmark here https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/13582899 ( if this is not allowed feel free to delete it, not really sure since its my first time here) Thank you.

This is a bit long but I tried to provide as much detail as possible..... I'm currently using a Dell inspiron 3650 "gaming edition" , with an I7 6700, 16 GB of DDR3L, Custom OEM Dell H110 express motherboard, AMD Radeon R9 360 2Gb GDDR5, 240 watt unbranded non certified psu that seems to be designed to work with the custom dell motherboard (with no 24 pin connector), a slim optical drive, 2TB HDD and a Dell mini tower case. https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-3650-mt-core-i7-6700-3-4-ghz-16-gb-2-tb/ It also has all the features you'd expect from a prebuilt, WiFi, bluetooth, HD audio and a 5 in 1 card reader. But the system lacks expandablity, and has poor thermals with the i7 and the R9 pulling high load from the under powered, uncertified psu that the machine comes with. The case also lacks proper ventilation for a system that's intended to do any gaming and only has one small case fan as well as a cpu cooler smaller than a stock intel heatsink. So I recently ordered a new motherboard, psu, ram and a decent air cooler so I can put the cpu into a better system with some expansion possibilities as well as upgrade potential. So I will be removing the CPU, GPU and the 2 TB HDD and putting them into my new build. This will leave me with all the rest of the parts from the Dell, now my question is would proprietary custom oem parts that are model specific even sell on the used market if I parted them out? Or would it be easier to sell if I bought a used i3 6100 cpu and a small drive to put windows on then sell it as a bare bones streaming system with no dedicated graphics? Any input would be greatly appreciated, I have very limited experience in selling used pc parts.

After years of owning and fixing laptops, I want to share my experiences with the various OEMs. Some of these laptops are mine or my friend's Many people have mixed opinions towards these OEMs but many of mine are just pure bad or even terrible. Let's start off with my first laptop, the Sony Vaio VGN-NW25GF It was a decent laptop back in the day, with a Core 2 Duo T6600 and a measly 2GB of ram. It ran fine for a year but then it got real laggy. Defragging the hard drive not only did nothing but also made things worse. The hard drive literally died while being defragmented. I sold it in 2013. Next comes Acer with their Aspire 1825PTZ. This was probably the worst laptop I have ever owned. The underpowered Pentium SU4100 and 320GB hard drive made owning it...cancerous. On the upside, battery life was excellent but I have never brought it out to this day (I bought it in 2010) cuz it was rather embarrassing to be using such a crappy laptop. The bad experience didn't stop there, 6 months later, the touchscreen started glitching and would move my cursor to the top right of the screen. The touchpad died right after that, and so did the battery and wifi adapter. Today, it's sitting in my storeroom, rotting away, Moving on to Dell, we have the Inspiron 11 3147. It was a really nice 2 in 1 I bought in early 2015. But all hell broke loose when I updated to Windows 10 and it got BSODs every now and then. Before that, the audio had crackling noise and plugging in headphones would cause it to switch between mono and stereo audio. While upgrading to an SSD the SATA connector cracked. Yay. Sold it earlier this year. Now let's take a look at HP. Keep in mind that this isn't my laptop but my friend's. It is the HP Notebook 14 with an i5-7200u. Performance was decent and it had Radeon Graphics. The main problem was its build quality. It fell off the table and cracked all the way down the keyboard deck and broke the hinge. The hard drive also died a month after the fall. Finally, we have Asus. Me and my friend both own vivobooks. With mine being the K401UQK and his being the X556UB. The X556UB was the most problematic one. It refused to boot up and was diagnosed for having a motherboard issue by Asus themselves when it worked after swapping ou the hard drive. It also would shut off every now and then due to overheating. For mine, the battery was dying after months and lasted 2 hours on a single charge. The CPU package went up to 80 deg Celsius opening chrome. The headphone jack is screwed up and now the LCD has the imprints of the keyboard. But luckily, everything was covered under the 2 year warranty, except the battery which only had a year of warranty (WTF) and costed $130 for diagnostics and replacement. Honorable mentions: The Lenovo G50, i5 4200u or something. Owned by a friend. Hinge broke along with a bunch of other ports. Early 2011 Macbook Pro. i5-2415m. One of my spare laptops. Kept freezing and hangs on bootup half the time I'm thinking of getting a new laptop next year when this K401UQK tht I'm typing with turns 2 years old. Looking for a reliable and cheap one as I already have a gaming desktop. Any suggestions? The ones with Ryzen APUs seem rather attractive.

Budget (including currency): £1200/£1300 Country: England Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ARMA3, Insurgency, Cyberpunk 77 - And a vast array of other games Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No peripherals needed. I have decided to go prebuilt as I doubt I would be able to build a pc and have two questions regarding a prebuilt system. Here Intel i7-9700K GTX 2060 Super 16GB Ram i would like to run some games at high - ultra settings and would like to know about when I do so, as currently my pc is only able to run games on v.low settings. How loud will the system run, or where would I find this info? - As I mentioned, this is one thing I dislike about my current system. I have seen a few performance videos on YouTube and have seen people with high temps, does anyone have experience with this parts combination? And if so what would be the most cost effective way of sorting this. Thanks, any help at all is immensely appreciated.

Hello Everybody, My name is Keitaroc and i finally decide to join this forum after years of consuming Linus content on Youtube. Even though that i consider myself a member of the Pc Master Race, i feel like my current system , a prebuilt Omen 880 .556 with a i78700 k , 16 gb of DDR4 ram, a 256 ssd and a tera of HDD is lacking in the Gpu compartment . i do have actually a Gtx 1060 (seeing it from the inside of the case i can tell that my gpu is the cheapest version possible of the bunch). Said so, i actually began of thinking of an upgrade by september of last year, improving my gpu sector by buying a rtx 2070. Thank God i didn't !! With the announcement of the Ampere Rtx Cards i think it is finally time that i finally upgrade my gpu to something like the RTX 3070 (maybe 3080 i am not sure) So here is the reason of why i am here . I know that i might need to change some things , some of which i am interely sure of ..which are : The PSU- change to a 750 w unit modular if possible . and of course the Case to support a more stable airflow. SO now begins my guest for answers: should i change the motherboard (which you willl see looks kinda cheap) and the cooling system of the Cpu also ? Maybe change the cooling system for a radiator of some kind? i will now Put a link with all my specs and pictures of my actual setup (i guess one of the few advantages of having a prebuilt is how easy is to find pictures and info about your system without becoming crazy) https://support.hp.com/lt-en/document/c06201325 i would really appreciate if i can get some answers. ( ALSO if i messed up the subforum and missed the right one, i apologize, it is my first post after all .Sorry for any grammar errors, English is not my first nor my second language) Best regard though!

Hey guys, my school just gave away a heap of the old PCs and gave me a Dell Optiplex 745. I noticed it’s the same as the Dell Optiplex 380 in the $69 Gaming PC video except it has an older cpu (it has the same board and case design) and ddr2 ram instead of ddr3. As I am a broke Aussie high school student I don’t have much money. What are you guys’ upgrade tips. My budget is $150 Australian Dollaroos.

Hi I have a Acer Nitro N50-600-DH11 with a 8th gen intel i5 8400, GTX1060 6GB I was thinking about airflow because in my pre built it isn’t optimal. So I was wondering can I just swap everything from this prebuilt to a new and better case?

Hello, I was looking to get my girlfriend an SSD for her Prebuilt Cyberpower PC. Is there a way to make that SSD a Bootdrive and keep her old files on her HDD? Wanted to ask before I installed the drive.

I've been trying to put together a new AMD system but have been running into some issues with troubleshooting. I am not sure if the problem is with the CPU, the motherboard, or the PSU. I figured I could use the power supply from an Asus desktop purchased at Best Buy a few years ago to see if my problem is my power supply. After removing it from that system I discovered that instead of providing 12 pin and 8 (4+4) pin power to the motherboard it only provides 12 + 4. Aside from the 12 & 4 cables their are some SATA and molex, but no PCIE cables. Am I right in thinking this PSU is useless in any system other than the one it came with? Since the motherboard in the system I am building has 12 & 8 pin connections, I can't test it with the Asus PSU? Or would it be ab;e to post with only one 4 pin connection? I've ordered an 80+ Thermaltake PSU but it is going to take about 2 weeks to arrive. I really miss the days when Amazon was striving to deliver most Prime orders in 1 day. Though, so many PSUs seem to be back-ordered at the moment. Best Buy has a 450 W 80+ Insignia brand PSU in stock. I had no idea Best Buy had house brand PSUs. Does anyone know if they are any good?

I have a couple questions about the 1650 Super. I am thinking about getting it, but some of the options say that they are over locked. Is that sketchy?--https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce-gtx-1650-super-tuf-gtx1650s-o4g-gaming/p/N82E16814126358 Also I have a prebuilt with a pcie 2.0 slot. Will that affect performance? If so how much

Howdy all, bit of a longer post here, but I feel context is necessary. My cousin owns a two year old Acer Aspire AXC230 desktop. An office PC, and the lowest spec machine of the AXC series, its woefully slow. But thats to be expected from a low end PC, you get what you pay for. The PC runs an AMD E1-7010 CPU which after a Google search turned up to be one of the slowest and worst CPU's out there. Considering its for a netbook, I wondered why it was in this desktop in the first place. Anyway, the PC is literally only able to run about 3 Firefox tabs at a time, and is good for spreadsheets, Word editing, etc. Usually, all he does is browse Facebook or eBay. Recently he got into Civ VI and Stardew Valley, and, whilst Stardew runs fine (pixel graphics bro) Civ was laggy as heck on the integrated graphics. I bought him a GT710 to fix this, and now it runs at about 35-40 FPS, which is fine. However, the CPU on the other hand is a different story. While inspecting task manager (just because it runs low end games ok doesnt mean it stopped freezing!), I noticed the CPU was at 99% constantly, whether on the desktop, typing documents or even playing Civ. At first I just thought that it was some background tasks or something, but even after checking then it still doesnt make a lot of sense of why the CPU is running this hard all the time. I thought about an upgrade until I looked into it and realised the CPU was soldered onto the motherboard. Does anyone know why this CPU is throttled when I'm literally on the desktop with no apps running? Thanks guys!

Hey Guys, I Just Had A Quick Question. I Have A Dell i3650 It Has: i5-6400 12GB DDR4 1TB HDD 240w Dell PSU My Question Is: With These Specs, Do You Think I Could Run A Lower End Card Like A GTX 1650 (Non-Connector) And It Be In The Power Constraints Of The System? I Turn Off Hyper Threading And Undervolt But I Want To Do Some Basic 1080p Gaming.

Hi all, A family of mine bought his son a prebuilt PC, but since arrival, it does not post. I tried troubleshooting, but I cannot find what the issue is. All fans spin including case fans, CPU cooler, and GPU. I get no display signal when I turn on the PC and I've tried connecting an HDMI to both MOBO and GPU outputs. I have tried the following: -reseating RAM & Changing slots (it's only a 1x 4GB stick) -reseating all power cables (CPU + MOBO) -reseating GPU -Checking all connections -Clearing CMOS by removing battery -Changing monitor & cable CPU: No Idea Cooler: darkFlash Shadow? Mobo: Some B75M MOBO (LGA 1155 socket) - There's no branding and the included QRcode leads to a Google search with "results not found" page. RAM: 1x MICRON MT16JTF51264AZ-1G6M1 4GB PSU: Gamdias Kratos | M1 550 bronze GPU: XFX 570 BLK Edition I do not know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated!
