Hello Tech World, Thanks for taking some of your time to see my post, let's take a quick walk here on why and what am I asking here. I've been thinking, since I was going to build myself a new computer (More info on my Sig.) I went to check and see on how W10 has been doing so far, and from what I've seen I'm not convince. So I'll probably stay with W7 since I'm already used to it, and on the other hand I've had bad experiences with Windows Restore and Backup System, from then on I backup everything by manually organizing my folders and then passing them into my Ext-HDD. So the questions are: Q: Which OS do you recommend, what are the Pros/Cons when using such OS? Q: Is there any other way to backup files more faster, easier and safer? Q: Do you use any other tools for organizing and backing up files? Guess this is clean and simple enough, hope to hear your answers soon.

Looking to upgrade from my current PC and this is what I've come up with. Looking at this in USD, for a max budget of about 850, storage and OS already taken care of (coming from my current PC) and this build will be for games, VMs, and Blender (3D modeling/animating). I put this together with room for another R9 390 eventually when I feel that it starts to slow down, so if you want to change something make sure I can add another card later. Also, 8 gigs, due to the VMs I may add another set of what I have there below when I can, but it should be enough to start. Hi there! I really need lots of opinions on my first ever PC build. (CAD by the way) What I want to do with this PC: Gaming: From Minecraft to GTA-V to Batman Arkham City Video Editing: Decent to Good Render Times and Software That Will Not Usually Lag While Editing. Recording Gameplay Day to Day Tasks I am not sure if my build is too overkill for what I would like to do. I am not much of a gamer but I would like to get in to medium to heavy PC gaming. My budget was actually lower than what my parts list is but thats okay. Please leave your suggestions about better bank for your buck and any parts that you reccomend over the ones I chose! http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/q2yPBm Thank you so much!

Hi! I am planning to order these parts for my new gaming pc, and there are a few things I am kind of uncertain of... So here are the parts: Graphics card: Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme edition CPU: Intel i5 6600k Storage: 250gb Samsung Evo 850 SSD and 2000gb Western Digital Green HDD CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15 PSU: ? Motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming RAM: 8gb Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (pcpartpicker list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XBxNhM) I was wondering what type of a PSU I should have for this system since I bet it's fairly power consuming. Originally I was going to go for a Lepa 1000w maxbron but after reading some reviews I started doubting its quality. The budget on the power supply is around 130 euros. Evga psus are not available where I am at the moment so those are out of the question. Mainly confused about the wattage and the manufacturer. Also, if there is anything that looks off with the build or you have bad/good experience with some of the parts then I'd happily hear about it! Any sort of help/feedback is appreciated, thank you.

Hi guys, So as my entire rig is on a bit of a (rapidly more stretched) budget, I couldn't go for a more expensive motherboard that had as many fan connectors as I needed. My rig will have 5 fans, but only 2 ports on the mobo. Looking around, I saw the NZXT Grid V2, and it seemed perfect. Minor issue... not in stock anywhere in my country, and I can't spend £40 on shipping a £20 fan controller. So the older version is the only one I've come across that seems to do the job. Has anyone used it? Anyone had any issues with it? Should I be aware of any major limitations (other than not being to control fan speed)? Thanks all!

Link for PCPartPicker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PvqHMp I am nearing the end for my pc build an need some final advice in terms of the life span of my computer and if everything will work together. Using PcPartPicker I was not sure of how accurate it is in term of everything working together. Please do me favor in terms of opinions of the computer. I would like opinions on the following. How long the computer will last, how up-gradable it is, and if it will suit almost all games at 1080p 60fps Hight(or medium depending on the game) to ultra (with no VSync). Anything is much appreciated. Note: I am looking for mostly opinions and I want to stay under 1,300 dollars for the whole desktop. Feel free to make suggestions but as long as it is around the price I am going for.

Hey guys, As title suggests, looking for opinion on choosing between these two cases. Primary concerns are cable management & cooling, less concerned about hot swapping components. Let me know what you all think is a better choice. Thanks all!

Hello there everyone. Here's a quick one for you. My brother wants to buy the new Hitman game when it is released, but is unsure if his system will run it sufficiently. I told him it will, but he decided to check his specs against the older Hitman Game (Absolution) and the website he used told him to there maybe a CPU bottleneck and recommends he upgrades it. I called BS, and I want your opinions and to tell him to ignore this website. His current computer specs are as follows. Intel Core i5 4460 12GB DDR3 GTX 960 2GB The website he used, said there is a CPU bottleneck and recommends he upgrades to a Intel Xeon E5 4650 (A $3600 processor) And to show how BS I think this site is, It recommends my system gets an upgrade to a Intel Xeon E7-8890 V2 (an almost $7000 processor) Note the site does say, this suggestion doesn't mean he can/can not run the game, but I think it is BS that they are suggesting those processors. Your thoughts please. Edit: This post is also more of a PSA on how un-reliable this site is and to not use it.

I get really confused when it comes to motherboards, because they come with so many features. So I decided to post here to get some helpful feedback about which motherboards are said to be the best for gamers. My final verdict is a debate between the Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero and the MSI X99A gaming 7 ATX. I created 2 builds on PC part picker. Which one would be the better option? Maybe even there is a 3rd option I'm unaware of. Any advice is welcome Asus - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cwmmMp MSI - http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WtYLmG The price point seems very similar even though the Asus seems to be using the 6th generation Intel Skylake. I don't quite understand that.

Hello everyone! I'm thinking of building a new case and I saw this on slipperyskip.com... I'd make plenty of changes, as follows: Build it ATX compatible, size should be about 60cm x 27cm x 65cm (w x l x h; aprox. 23.6" x 25.6" x 10.6") Add space for a double radiator on the inside top, with filtered fans Mounting points for 2 x 120mm (intake) fans on the front and 1 on the bottom front, with removable filters Space for an 80mm exhaust fan on the back Racks for up to 6 x 3.5" HDDs and 2 x 2.5" SSDs, allowing for craphics cards up to 30 cm length 8x expansion card slots Removable filter for the ATX PSU intake fan I'd cut cable routing holes on the MB tray, so cables can be routed through the back box Expand the "front" IO with 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, audio and mic jacks, maybe add a 5.25" bay for an optical reader What do you guys think?

Okay so here's what i was planning to do. i was planning to make rig that consists of these things: MSI H81I ITX motherboard http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-h81i-mitx-h81-lga1150-f0-102348-1334.htm Pentium G3258 http://www.ncix.com/detail/intel-pentium-g3258-anniversary-unlocked-d2-97890-1334.htm Phanteks Evolv ITX http://www.ncix.com/detail/phanteks-enthoo-evolv-mini-itx-5b-108258-1334.htm Antec Basiq VP450 http://www.ncix.com/detail/antec-basiq-vp450-450w-power-2c-62331-1334.htm ADATA 2x4gb Ram http://www.ncix.com/detail/adata-xpg-v1-0-8gb-ddr3-1866-bd-106952-1334.htm I;m gonna take my hyper 612 cooler, 7790 GPU, xfx 550watt PSU, an SSD and two hard drives and combine it with the things above to create a new build. what i wanted is a smaller PC which is still capable of housing a good amount of stuff while minimizing price. I apologize in advance if this is all kinda confusing BTW my current rig has an i3220 so its not too power hungry which is why i went with the VP 450 to be swapped with my current 550w PSU. If you would make any recommendations on what i could switch around that would be helpful, but could you do that on NCIX Canada as they have local stores around me and i don't want to pay for shipping and please try to keep it under $400, i'm not ballin I also want to overclocking the G3258 a little bit just for the fun of it to see what i can get out of it. TL;DR G3258, ADATA 2x4gb ram, MSI H81I MITX mobo, Phanteks Evolv ITX, Antec Basiq VP 450 for just under $400 (with already owned drives, hyper 612 and 7790) yay or nay? Thanks for reading or skipping to the bottom s'all good to me just want some opinions AT

So in the last weeks I created a lot of posts with my partlist but I still want to research more and know more about gaming pc. I want to wait till' Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain official requirements to make my decision but based on game debate ( http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=7313&game=Metal%20Gear%20Solid%20V:%20The%20Phantom%20Pain ) I think I might need a 4 core cpu (I would like intel) and a good gpu with good vram (nvidia since its nvidia optimized I think) What do you guys think it will be the price of such thing?(600-700 max? feel free to tell me if it's impossible ) Are summer sales coming so i can get those big gpus for less? I would like to play mgs on 1080p at 60fps. Please dont post full pc builds , just important parts please (mobo, cpu, gpu) Thank you for reading.

Hello! I've been planning a $900 (can stretch to $950 if needed but not preferred) (including Manitoba taxes) Mini-ITX build for some time now and it's come to the point where it's almost time to buy (1 month or so)! So I'm wondering what you guys would change and what you would keep. I shop at Memory Express because I can't order things online and it's close. If you're wondering why Z97 with a locked CPU it's because the board has Wi-Fi and I've used MSI boards before, and future upgrades possibly. I'm purchasing the GTX 770 used. Will the 450W power supply be enough for a GTX 770, and how would I power it because I only have 1 8-pin? Thank you guys! Forgot the link : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/QvNXGX

Hey LTT Forum! I'm excited to be able to start my first build (it's for a family member), but I would like some opinions before we "pull the trigger". Budget and Location: As far away from $900 we can get, while still completing the tasks we need, we would be happy with! We live in the US. Aim: Workstation PC. Starting a business, and would like to do basic web browsing, video watching, and some photo editing. I also want room to expand or upgrade in the future. Monitors: Only planning on running one monitor, at 1080p (I believe). Peripherals: We're all set with the keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, and OS, and we don't need to purchase them. Why are you upgrading?: The previous computer was old and broke, so it's time for an upgrade! Do you plan on overclocking?: Nope Here's what I have so far: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($214.95 @ SuperBiiz) Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g Thermal Paste ($6.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($74.93 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($59.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.95 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($73.89 @ OutletPC) Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case ($74.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($35.98 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($14.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan ($16.98 @ OutletPC) Total: $633.54 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-02-07 11:11 EST-0500 Some of the concerns I have: GPU: The lack of GPU is mostly in the interest of budget. I think the integrated graphics of the CPU may be enough for the light-ish usage we're planning. I'd love a second opinion on this, though. Will the lack of GPU impact my CPU's lifespan? Is it worth the investment for, say, a GTX 750 ti? Case: We like the simplistic design of this case, its built-in cable management, and its seemingly good airflow (and price!). However, is there a Micro ATX case that anyone would recommend, to conserve on space? Another thing to note is that we don't like the windowed, LED cases, and much prefer simplistic design. Sacrificing some expandability would be alright. Motherboard: I wasn't sure if this was a good motherboard. Again, we're not planning on overclocking, but I don't know if a Z97 or Z87 would be the better decision anyway. Is this good enough, and if not, does anyone have recommendations? CPU Cooling: Are we okay with the stock cooler, if we're not planning on overclocking? Or is it worth throwing something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (or Plus) in there? It seems that with the specific usage and preferences, picking every part individually is the way to go (as opposed to combo deals on Newegg or something). Since this is my first build, I may be forgetting something, so please let me know if I am! Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!
