Post one of each of the following and rate it: 1. A movie you've recently watched. 2. A movie you've not watched before, but you want to eventually. 3. A movie you've watched and feel everyone should watch it at least once. 4. A movie you've not watched and feel you'll never watch it, ever. 5. A movie you've watched but regret watching it. 6. A movie you've watched countless times. Start your post by rating the movies you've already watched from the posts above you(at least one, you don't have to rate them all if you don't want to). You can post as many times as you wish as long as someone else posts below your post. Try to put the year the movie was released right after it(use Google if you don't know the year). Try to put your rating right after the year it was released. Finish your post with a brief message that has something to do with posts throughout this topic.(optional) I'll go first. Since there's no movies to rate above me, I'm putting this sentence in its place. 1. The Hunted(2003) 8/10 2. Cat People(1982) ?/10 3. Rope(1948) 10/10 4. Home Alone 4(2002) */10 5. Home Alone 3(1997) 5/10 6. The Princess Bride(1987) 10/10 If you haven't seen Rope(1948), do so asap.

I have a strange issue that I haven't been able to figure out so I thought I would post the question here to find out if anyone knows what might be causing this problem and how to fix it. I'm using Windows 10 home with a 5960X with 16 GB RAM. a Nvidia GTX 980. SanDisk Ultra II 480GB (SSD). and my monitor is the ROG PG279Q 2560x1440@140Hz. I tried watching a few movies on YouTube digitally bought recently. I tried the Martian as well as the movie Avatar. In both movies I noticed that it was slightly stuttering every few seconds. I right clicked on the video and checked the stats for nerds and sure enough I was right it was dropping frames. I can't figure out why it would be doing this. I tried changing the refresh rate on my monitor to 120 Hz, I tried 60 Hz, I even tried 24 Hz because of the whole movies are recorded at 24 Hz stuff. No luck, friends were still getting dropped. I have a 50 Mb download speed and roughly 8 megabit upload speed on average. I have a Google Chromecast so I decided to try casting the movie to that from my computer. And holy shiitake what do you know, the movie plays flawlessly with no frame drops whatsoever. So can anyone please explain to me what's going on here and why frame drops would be happening on my computer but not my TV?

Hi I want to ask is it worth to buy ATH-ADG1X mainly for games and movies? I'm considering also cheaper model AD700 or 900X +ModMic 4.0 or the cheapest ( but still good ? ) ATH-PDG1 ? Currently I'm using Sennheiser HD595. Is the ATH-ADG1X currently the best gaming headset solution all in one (headphones + built in microphone) on the market ?

Is there any similar movies to the witch like about ancient ghost, demon or old mythology. This is optional but i would love if those movies use early modern english its just its add more depth to the movies.

I could have sworn that Linus did a video a while ago about how to backup/rip movies and media from optical disks like DVDs or Blurays onto harddrives. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I want to ask if anyone has a good tutorial or can explain how in the comments. I eventually want to just have movies that I legally buy backed up onto my future NAS so i can watch them on my HTPC. Thanks for your help! TL;DR: How do you backup/Rip Movies from disks to say a NAS?

I already have an AOC G2460PQU (1920x1080 24" 144hz) monitor which I use heavily with no complaints. I'm looking for a second monitor for that sweet dual screen action and I'd like some advice. Current Build: Not sure if more than the GPU is needed, but it can't hurt: GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 970 @ 1450MHz CPU: i5-4690K @ 4.3GHz Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SOC-CF RAM: 4x4Gb Kingston HyperX DDR3 @ 1866MHz LEDs: Blue and white (critical info) Intended use: Gaming and watching TV/movies, mostly, with the occasional light video editing. I'll use the two monitors in conjunction to do work, but that shouldn't really affect the purchase because anything will do. Can I even run games on a second/1440p monitor with my setup? The most demanding game I play is probably Overwatch, which hovers around 100 FPS with settings maxed. Performance: Resolution: 1440p (want) Panel: IPS (required) Refresh Rate: Don't care (at all) Response Time: Lower is better (want) Colors: Reasonably accurate, good for movies. Same goes for brightness and contrast (required) Ports: HDMI 1.4+ or DisplayPort (required) Size: I'm a little pressed for space, but I can definitely fit anything 27" or below. I would prefer smaller. As far as aspect ratio is concerned, I really don't know. I'm used to 16:9 so I know nothing about 4:3, 16:10, or whatever else is out there. I'll defer to whatever you guys think is good. (want) Other: - Is NVidia G-Sync any good, and is it worth the price for my intended use? - I have awesome headphones and my roommate has speakers, so the monitor doesn't even need speakers - I'm swimming in USB ports as it is, not a concern - My roommates and I play SSB Melee on my computer pretty frequently. I've heard LightBoost monitors are good for this purpose, but it's a plus, not a concern. The game runs fine on my current monitor. Budget: I'd like to keep it under $300, but I don't know if that's even possible. With that said, budget is an important consideration. Country: United States Additional Details: I'm more than willing to wait for sales or buy used/refurbished from reputable sellers as long as it doesn't compromise quality and I'd appreciate advice on the subject. ----------------------- Thanks for navigating my wall of text, and thanks in advance for all the help!

Hi there, I am looking for a legit source where I can (for example) subscribe to gain access to movie and TV downloads. Something similar to Netflix but with the ability to download content in the original quality i.e. full Blu-ray. The sources must be legit and not infringe on copyright etc. Cheers, Alex

Hello I need an upgrade, I want to upgrade stuff over time so if you can tell me new parts I can add to my system now before I change the whole system that would be great. My budget is in between $1000-$2000. All I care about is performance looks not so much. Right now I have: Cooler Master Elite 350 Case MSI ms-7641 motherboard AMD Phantom II x4 950 3.40Ghz (Stock cooler) GTX Nvidia 640 16gb Vengeance memory (I have 2x4gb sticks unused) 3 HDD's 3TB drive (dying), 1TB (runs okay), 120gb (extra stoage) So first things first. I need to be able to playback 4k clips with no problems. I also need to edit multiple cameras at once in my editing software Premiere. I need a good work SSD for my boot and working clips and another good mass storage HDD. I also need a new Motherboard (possibly quad channel), CPU, case, GPU, Blu-ray burner (optional), and something to cool the whole thing. I'd like to start upgrading stuff now so I can get some sort of performance boost, I was thinking with starting off with a new SSD then Graphics Card, please let me know what I should do. Thank you all!

Hello, Background In the most recent WAN show Linus and Luke discussed product placement and the discussion seemed to have a generally negative tone. A reference was made to Transformers and how ridiculous product placement was in that or those movies. I decided to google cause I didn't really understand what the problem was since I didn't consider product placement to be a problem in Transformers (any of them). Argument That reference to Transformers brought back on old subject: if a car has to be shown in a scene because it's part of the story or the scenery (e.g. town or city in US since 1950s), is it all the same or better to use an existing and well known brand? If the story is placed on planet earth and a given period of time, isn't it part of the experience that when a car is shown it's a brand that you'd expect to see anyway in that region and time? Is it a problem only when any given shot is changed specifically to show a brand? I just watched half a youtube video bitching about all of the product placement in Transformers - Age of Extinction. Out of the first two dozen product placements, guess how many I even spotted? Only a few and some of those made sense. Lockdown is a Lamborghini and Bumblebee is a Camaro; they're cool cars. It never even occurred to me to consider product placement because I was too busy enjoying the movie and that, in my mind, is the point. Once I saw that a Nokia phone in a movie (possibly X-Files) and in particular the brand was shown for a full second or two; that was a bit irritating and there I understand why some people are ticked off about product placement because it interrupted the experience. Am I completely off the mark? Are you guys much more sensitive about this? Sensitive in the sense that you constantly see product placement and it interrupts your experience? Is there something else that causes product placement to be a problem?

Hello all, Long time watcher - first time poster. I'm in the process of upgrading my audio gear and I've just bought the AKG K612's for my main @ desk usage, however I'm now after a decent set of wireless cans to use from bed. I'm having a really hard time finding something that meets my requirements though and I'm hoping someone can help. I will be looking to use the wireless cans primarily with my PC (with a external DAC/AMP) for playing more casual/controller friendly games from bed (racing, fighters etc) and watching movies from an Android media player. They will also be connected to a PS3 for BluRay's that I've yet to move to the WSE2012 box. Ideally it would need to have an optical input as the Android box doesn't do analogue audio (but I can work around it) and as these are going to be used for late night consumption closed would be best. Budget would be around £200 ($288 current ex.rate) I've found plenty of headsets that meet the requirements (such as the Turtle Beach Elite 800) but given that headsets tend to be a bit c**p VS headphones I was wondering what was out there in terms of proper cans. So far I've only been able to find are Sennheiser units such as the RS175 or RS120 (don't like the latter though as they appear to be RF as opposed to 2.4Ghz), Anyone have any other suggestions or experience with the sets above? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Steve.

Lets cut to the chase: Post all of your self made fan art here. Doesn't matter where it is from; videogames, movies, books etc. are all allowed. Doesn't matter either whether you have drawn it, rendered it, sung it (?) or anything else, this place is for everything. Some guidelines: Please put large images in spoilers (over 1920x1080). If you post multiple pictures spoiler them too. If you have gotten some of your assets from other people remember to credit them Spoilers again if NSFW (No porn anyways though, but maybe some artistic nudity is allowed?) If you want to, you can list some info about your tools and the time it took to make said piece of art. NO UNNECESSARY COMMENTING (e.g. No "Looks cool brah", the like buttons are there for it). You can ask questions and give deeper critique though, as long as they contribute something to the thread. Remove double posts (obvious) Have fun (PS. mods I wasn't sure if this belongs here or in offtopic (or photography?) so if this is in the wrong subforum please move this. If not, you can remove this text)

Hey there users! I have acces to a big TV this week and I was wondering if there were any movies that were especially enjoyable on a big screen? I'm watching Star Wars tonight and no real ideas for later.

Hey! I'm looking into getting a surround sound system (finally) but its the first time I've done so. I've quickly become accustomed to the same questions that seemed to be asked, but never full answers. I was wondering if people could help. First off, LPCM vs Bitstream. I've read that PCM is better for individual tracks, but Bitstream is recommended for things like the PS4. So which is better? This brings me to my next question. I've only got a cheap budget as of now, so I'm looking at a relatively cheap system thats around $300, had good reviews, however, doesn't have HDMI in, so I have to turn to optical, and apparently optical only supports 2 channels of LPCM. (Its a 5.1 system). Is it possible to throw out the receiver in a system and buy a new one down the road, keeping the speakers, which, in theory, should allow to me then turn to HDMI later on? The reason for this post, I don't want to end up buying a system, that I soon realise wont meet my needs. I'll be using it for mostly movies, however some PS4 gaming will come into play (see what I did there?). The system I'm looking at is the BDV E2100 from Sony. I left this until last because, unless someone can recommend a system thats within my budget, I'd prefer people to not tell me that its not good enough. I've read reviews Any advice which you feel would be valuable to a newbie buyer would be appreciated! Thanks for all your help, means a lot! Chris
