As the title states, Cherry just announced a new "generation" of Cherry MX switches ("MX RGB"), this time with fully adjustable lighting. The switches themselves still seem to be the usual Red, Brown, Blue and Black. Also says its Corsair exclusive, at the start. They will be showing the keyboard at CES 2014 in January. source: http://www.hardocp.com/news/2013/12/04/corsair_debuting_cherry_mx_rgb_based_mechanical_gaming_keyboards_in_2014/ Launch "trailer": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjBCLPPw1wk

I currently use a razer Lycossa and have became very fond of it but I want mechanical, as anyone should, however when I have tried to use keyboards such as the Corsair K90 and Razer black widow and I just hate having the macro keys on the left as I will never use them (Macros on mouse) and since I have had a keyboard without the macros I kept on going for control or shift and then activating my friends magicka macro. Also MX blue is my prefered however I also love the back lighting that comes with membrane such as the lycossa. Are their any keyboards that are out their that don't have macro keys (on the left, fine anywhere else) in UK format and with a good back-lighting (I know MX rgb is around the corner but I need mechanical now!) Oh and also K70 Blue is good but expensive in UK I found £150 cheapest (Top contender atm but would like to see if their are anymore) PS it needs to match in with my monitors (2x aoc i2367fh)

Introduction The Roccat Ryos Mk Pro is a new Mechanical Keyboard from Roccat, and features several unique features. One on them is a Glossy but fingerprint resistant surface which surrounds the Keyboard. Also there is a "jumbo" sized Wrist rest which is large enought for people with smaller hands, like myself. It's probably also good enough in terms of size for Linus and those who got similar sized hands. Packaging and included stuff The Packaging is pretty simple but effective. There is no foam or anything, just a simple Black box with the keyboard and a Quickstart Guide in. Here are a few photos for y'all.

I have been looking around for a keyboard that I would find perfect and for my personal use the Corsair K95 suits pretty much that; plentiful amount of macro keys, media keys and mechanical switches. The only issue i have at with it is, you can only get it the keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches. What I would love to see is a company to create a default design such as the K95 or similar style but be able to customise each of the switches on the keyboard, I know this would probably increase the price considerably but it would be pretty cool to see a company allow for that much customer customisability.

Hi guys, so i'm looking to buy a new keyboard and i have no idea of which one to buy. I want it to be mechanical and easy to type on. I was considering the corsair K65, but im not too sure whether i want it or not. What keyboards do you guys use and possibly recommend(English Keyboards would be great!). I was also considering the CODE Keyboard for programming. Do any of you guys know where i could order this from in the UK? Thanks. Also, anything around 60 - 80 quid would be good. Thanks!

HI I've been looking at good gaming mice and mechanical keyboards for awhile now, but I can't decide which one I want to get first. I'm going to be mostly using them for gaming and Internet browsing. The keyboard i'm looking at is a Ducky shine 3 with brown switches and a green backlight and the mouse is a Razer deathadder 2013. If i get the mouse first i will still have $100 left over, but the mouse I have now isn't tooo bad and I probably need to upgrade my keyboard more. Thanks!

I have a limited budget of around 50-60AUD, and I'm looking for a new keyboard. I was wondering if there were any cheap mechanical keyboards that aren't Cherry MX Blacks. If there aren't any for that money, what are the best gaming keyboards for that kind of money?
-
Which do you think (preferred who experienced both keyboards) will be good for gaming? Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth 2014 (orange swtiches) or Corsair k70 Vengeance Red LED (Brown switches) I don't like the blue switches because of their loud clicky sound and as for the red switches the smooth no tactile feels is I don't find comfortable. Brown switches is the right one for me but I want to have your opinions regarding these two brands.

http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/175089-who-makes-the-most-reliable-hard-drives This is a very interesting article. I remember chatting with some people and one guy told me that Seagate hard drives fail easily (hence, he got a WD.) These to graphs show that Seagate hard drives fail much earlier and have a higher chance then WD and Hitachi. I've also read that the more capacity you have, the less longevity. Do note that Backblaze use consumer drives, so Seagate would be the Barracuda family, WD Cavier Blacks, etc. This concerns me because I have a Seagate Barracuda 3 TB. Any thoughts on this article?

I'm posting here, because there are so many options, and you guys know wayy more than me. I plan on buying a good quality keyboard that will last me a long time. I may be using this keyboard in a professional environment. My budget is $150, but I don't mind going up to $200 if I need to for quality. I've done some research on my own and have decided on a few things. If you think I've decided on something horrible, and that I should change my mind, please let me know. The following items are ranked in order of importance to me. I would like mx brown or clear switches. I do mostly programming, with some gaming at times, so I would prefer something that works well for typing. I like them because they're quieter and have the tactile feedback. I would like something with a very good build quality. I've seen the Das Keyboards, and I really like the aluminum finish. A lot. It's very clean and professional, not to mention that it's durable too. I would also like a ten keyless keyboard. My desk now is cramped, but in the long term I won't be using the numpad that much, so I'd rather have the desk space. I would like an LED keyboard, but it's not necessary. I'm not using this for a flashy gaming build, so dim lights that don't have to blind you are necessary. RGBs are probably not needed. Media keys are desired. I stream much of my music, so I use the volume control on my keyboard now a lot, but it's nice to be able to pause songs and such. I could always use some sort of script or modification in the OS to get media keys if I really needed them. The keys should all be the same color. I think some gaming keyboards come with the WASD keys in red or something, but I prefer a solid color look. I could always buy a few more keycaps later though to match the color. I use an alternative layout, so custom keycaps are a bonus. This isn't necessary though, I have the layout memorized and can touch type, so I don't need them, but it's nice. I could always buy keycaps later if I wanted. I would prefer the ANSI layout, coming from the US. ISO would be acceptable if it were the only thing available. ISO only is not a deal-breaker. I've looked at the CODE, and WASDv2 keyboards. What's the difference? All I can see is that the WASD has custom keycaps, but the CODE has LEDs. Also the removable USB cable on both models is a nice feature, but I don't think it would matter to me. The Das Keyboards look really nice, but it doesn't come in ten keyless. It's also got the huge volume knob, which I think I would enjoy, although it looks funky to me now. If you're wondering, this is what I'm on now. it's just a comes-with-the-computer keyboard. There isn't even a product page for it. So, what do you guys recommend? Thanks so much for any help!

So I've completed my build and have a Logitech g700s to go with it. Now all I need it a mechanical keyboard but I don't know which one to get and with what switches to use. I've used membrane all my life and never had an experience with mechanical so I know it will take some getting used to. My only requirements are. Switches that are not too loud as I use my computer mostly when people are asleep. (That probably rules out blue's then). Keyboard will be used for general use (no heavy typing sessions) and gaming (mixture of all different genres including FPS and RTS) Extra's include.... Dedicated media Keys (Mostly interested in volume button) Macro's (No more than 6 are needed) Backlighting Built in wrist wrest. Gaming mode button. Was seriously considering the Logitech g710+ as I've always vouched for Logitech and never had a single problem with any of their mouse and keyboards.

So when is this Red Switch RGB K70 going to be coming out Corsair? It said it would be available in late July and they seem to be running out of time with that deadline.... Does anyone know if this has been changed or if they plan to release it in the next 3 days!?!

I need help finding a keyboard for my setup. here are the requirements: *Must be a membrane switch or a super cheap red mechanical. I really prefer membrane *LED backlit. preferred to be able to change the color *Minimum of 1 USB pass through *Reasonably priced As simple as that sounds, you can't find too much out there. I know Logitech works with membrane mostly but none of them are what I'm looking for. If you know of a board that fits what I'm looking for please let me know!

Packaging and accessories. Video unboxing, overview - bad english incoming. Build Quality. This keyboard seems to be built with raging in mind when you get killed. It's heavy too, probably due to the steel plate in this keyboard, you could probably do some serious damage if you were to whack a burglar in your house with it. Thankfully the keyboard material is not glossy, it's my personal favorite - soft touch. Layout. The layout is very standard - long shifts, long enters, F1 above 2. Size. This keyboard is probably as small as it gets for full keyboards with the proper layout. It doesn't take up a lot of desk space. Looks It is VERY minimalistic, especially if you were to change all the keycaps to blacked out ones. There are no logos visible looking while typing. There is a CM Storm logo on the back, nothing glowing in the face of you (i'm looking at you RAZER offering non-backlit keyboards with a glowing logo). This keyboard has no backlight (i always use frontlight , my eyes get tired when playing in dark) http://i.imgur.com/b5ptTnb.jpg Features There is a function key with which you can use the media key combos - Play/Pause, Stop, Back, Forward, Windows key lock, Volume mute, Volume up, Volume down. And repeat rate adjustments (PS2 ONLY) - 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, in my opinion this is useless when gaming. Removable cable (braided too) Switching from membrane to mechanical. I have extensively used cheap membranes and a Logitech G19 which is probably as highend as it gets for membranes. First of all the G19 isn't mine so don't attack me for buying such an expensive membrane. I had typed on a mechanical keyboard before, but it was a cherry mx blue keyboard. I couldn't afford to buy a blue switched keyboard - too loud as i like to game late at night. So cherry mx browns - first time I typed on them I was glad that I didn't buy blues. Personally I like browns better, but don't believe that bullshit that browns are silent blues. The tactile feedback is different, the keys are lighter to actuate, and the keyboard is NOT silent - quieter they are but compared to the G19 or my cheap one they are louder (not very loud though). From using the G19 I'd like to have at least a single macro row, but i understand the design of this keyboard so i don't really care (maybe a future DIY project tho), I'm not interested in the backlight since I don't play in dark and don't look at my keyboard anyways for me backlight is just a bling-bling to show off to your friends. What i would love to have seen is dedicated media keys, which would too be against the minimalist design, but really i don't really use those key combos since I have to use 2 hands for that. My typing speed has increased, I've managed to do a bit of touch-typing (I don't find it easy really, a bit of memorising needs to be done too since the bumps are not really that feelable - my brother tought it was a linear switch at first), though I find myself hitting a lot of wrong keys on this keyboard which is probably because my cheap membrane didn't have a standard layout and I think the keycaps were wider. My gaming experience has changed - feeling more feedback from the keyboard is awesome but it doesn't make you a better gamer. Final toughts If you are a person who likes light keys, you should only look at browns or reds, personally Blues were already borderline weight (I could get used to them). As far as the keyboard goes - If you wan't a minimalistic keyboard with some features, great build quality and price this one is definitely worth a look good look.

I was looking through a keycap tester (this one, specifically: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keyboard-keycap-cherry-mx-switch-o-ring-pro-sampler-tester-kit.html ) It has Cherry MX Grey switches, which I've never even heard of before. It seems to be a heavy Brown (80G of force, same as Greens). Has anyone else even heard of these, or have even seen them on keyboards?

So I'm posting with a question for the community. This is my first post here, I apologize if I've put this in the wrong sub forum. I'm looking for opinions from some other mechanical keyboard users. Specifically anyone who has used a Razer Blackwidow 2014 and a different brand board with Cherry MX switches. I've been looking into getting a mechanical keyboard for myself after just finishing my new gaming rig. My dilemma is currently I primarily use a Razer Nostromo in place of a conventional keyboard and I was debating on getting the Razer Orbweaver instead of a standard mechanical keyboard so I just upgrade my keypad for a better one. But they've just revamped the Orbweaver with the special Razer gaming switches which they've been using in the Blackwidow 2014. I'm wondering some opinions because I can't decide if the new switches are worth it, or if I should should pick up the, currently on clearance, 2012 model of the Orbweaver which still had Cherry MX Blue switches. [The only differences between them are the switches and the 2014 model has a braided cable.] Or, should I just get a conventional mechanical keyboard for around the same price and just keep using my Nostromo for now.

Hello, I have to buy a new keyboard but I can't find the one that suits me. I need a keyboard with something like 15 - 20 macro keys, mechanical and possibly RGB. Something like a SteelSeries APEX, but not that one I already had it and it has some serious issues with the software: it doesn't remeber the macros and many times the steelseries engine doesn't eaven recognize it as a compatible device. I really like the Corsair K90 but it has to little macros . Thanks P.S. Sorry for my grammar mistakes english is not my main language

Source / Product Page: http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g710-mechanical-gaming-keyboard (Please move this Thread if I'm in the wrong Sub-Forum, maybe it should be in the "News" one?) If you didn't know the G710+ (the one with the +) has Brown Switches with O-Rings (Don't know if the new version will have these Rings though) Found it by Luck, browsing through their Gaming Category on the search for the well-known G710+ and mistook the G710 at first glance with the G710+. I found nothing about this new version except on the Logitech site (in various languages), various filters and search by image resulted only in Logitech pages. I called the local Logitech support (from my country) but even he was surprised about that keyboard and knew nothing about this version. The Logo on top of the product page says only "Lightning fast." compared to the g710+ "Lightning fast. Whisper quiet." Whoever made the product pages for this version also just replaced every occurrence of "G710+" with "G710", "Tactile" with "Cherry MX Blue" in the first paragraph and removed the 2nd paragraph for obvious reasons: "Whisper-quiet keys Focus on game Quiet, non-clicking key [...]" Btw. I wrote this with my G710+ Keyboard which I just ordered 2 weeks ago and I think I'm now sending it back and getting the one with the blue switches. Just stumbled upon this new version on the last day now in which I can sand my G710+ back while getting my money back (cancellation right) ________________________________________________________ More Images, nothing surprising, orange just has been replaced with blue (taken from gaming.logitech.com):
