I have been using an overclocked GTX 1070 for the last years and never had any display issues like this one. I first ran some old monitor, then a 4k (which I still use and still works without artifacts). Recently I decided to get a 144Hz, I got the ASUS VG32V. First it worked perfectly, but now when booting it shows about 90% of the time horizontal lines / artifacts at the bottom of the screen (sometimes starts fading away after 5min, sometimes not). I attached an image showing my view (though it's by someone else who posted about this kind of issue). He uses a different monitor but same GPU and claims to have fixed it by lowering the refresh rate. The one I use is the automatic one and there's no other 144Hz available either in Windows Settings or NVIDIA Display Control settings (and I don't buy a 144Hz to use it as 120Hz...). If I restart the monitor a couple of times I am able to get a clean image. I reset the monitor, got the newest drivers for GPU and monitor and disabled the overclocking. My guess would be that the monitor is at fault, though I'm open to other suggestions. And if it's the monitor, how would you try to fix it? (If possible rather fix than RMA) Thanks already in advance :) Specs: Ryzen 5 5600X, MSI B550i, MSI GTX 1070, ASUS VG32V, Windows 11 (I know ... but required for my job)

Someone uses the i7 9700 processor with the GTX 1070? I would like to upgrade to this processor because my i5 8400 bottlenecks my GTX 1070. I would like to ask if you get 100% Gpu usage on AAA games. (You can send screenshots if you like) Thanks in advance

Okay so here are the specs: Tomahawk b450 (not Max) Ryzen 7 2700x Gtx 1070 hybrid (from EVGA with the aio) Anker 777 thunderbolt 4 dock (for laptops - connect peripherals, ethernet, monitors, and power) A likely junk USB 4 extension cable 550W 80+ gold PSU Troubleshooting steps tried: Reset CMOS Switched PSU Switched power cables Switched display cables Wha happened: ADHD-no-impulse-control plugged the dock into the usb-c port of the mobo using a thunderbolt 4 cable and the aforementioned extension cable wondering if the peripherals and Ethernet would passthrough. It did! I thought great, nice easy way to use all my nonsense for my laptop for on my gaming rig without an additional USB switch and network switch. Then I unplugged and cable managed for a thousand year. Replugged everything and now doesn't POST. Tried clearing cmos. Nothing. Getting a VGA error led on the mobo. I've got a cheapo gpu coming in the mail so I can test whether it's the GPU or the mobo (maybe CPU ). My question is: does anyone with the technical know-how know...how what I did could break everything? Did the power passthrough from the dock make it's way and fry the GPU? Could it have fried the mobo I/O which then kicks up a VGA led error? Power works, all fans spin, tried the troubleshooting steps above. So yeah, help!

I have a pc with a i7–7700k processor, a gtx 1070 and 16 GBs of RAM. I had it for 5–6 years and used it during that time. If I would sell it on ebay or something, for how much could i put it on there?

Hello guys ! This post is following this one resolved : So am playing GTA V actually to tweak some configuration and see the evolution of my perfs (All i'm witing here, is in the order of my tweaks, and benchs pictures is respectively the order of my comment) i put GTA in Full Low Quality, still in 2K, and my first picture attached show the perfs. As you can see i've got like 1500MHz used, with a lil bit more than 0.800V in average for 35% usage generally. I just drop it like thius, in 3620x2036 DSR, nothing changes in terms of FPS (may be around 2 FPS less but it's almost like an error margin) Then i will just put maximum quality in the ones making me restart the game (I forgot i was in DST 3620x2036, so i changed for 2K, i gained 6Fps, but nothing changes in terme of perfs), : - Textures - Shaders - Particles - Grass This time, i have just a lil bit lower FPS, but nothing awful ahah, and the power consumption of my card is low, and the frequency as before is really high (voltage too) Now, i'm gonna tweak the settings to maximum of : - Shadow - Reflection - MSAA Reflection - Water Quality So i have some loss FPS, exactly the same, as if i putted the DSR Resolution, and i have a bit lowerage Frequency, for a higher Watt usage I will now put to the maximum the FXAA and see that i have like 4 FPS loss, and again lose frequency dropping from 1544 to 1430MHz, and voltage from beyond 800mV to 780mV If i put MSAA + TXAA, i'm now in a range of 1266MHz and 1316MHz generally and a voltage of 731mV for around 74 and 82W of usage Then i will use the settings i didn't upgraded and stop MSAA + TXAA + FXAA : - Post FX + Motion Blur Strenght And i'm in a range of 1367MHz up to 1481MHz, and a voltage between 762mV to 800mV If i put together MSAA + TXAA + FXAA : Average to 56 Fps, in a range of 1291MHz, 80W, and 731mV Now i disable again MSAA TXAA and FXAA, then up to the maximum quality : - Soft Shadow Nvidia PCSS - Anisotropic Filtering - Ambient Occlusion - Tessellation And my average MHz is 1315MHz, with 750mV, at 80W Now finally i will put max MSAA TXAA and FXAA and see final frequency, wattage, voltage : And i'm at the same results than before So, putting MSAA TXAA and FXAA downvolt and down frequency Putting Soft Shadow, anisotropic etc.. Downvolt and down frequency too But Putting these two together doesn't double lower the Volt and Frequency, this is absolutely physically not logical, if i can't catch and rise a weight of 100Kg, but i can do it with 50Kg, if i put 50Kg + 50Kg, i should not have the strenght to rise it, cause it is accumulation of weight making 100Kg... The last bench screen is with maximum advanced settings adding more quality to shadow, plus more quality in the range of view with shadows, so it should destroy performances, but not really that much... PS: i didn't do any tweak with In Game Scaling Resolution. EDIT : i add the bar of VRAM Used In Game with full maximum Settings, at 2K with Scaling Resolution.

I was using an external PSU to power my GTX 1070 FTW on a non standard HP office desktop. It was working for about 3 months and suddenly the GPU fans start twitching periodically without a video signal on any of the monitors. However the PC boots into windows and I was able to see video through the integrated graphics. The GPU is not listed in device manager as well. The way I connected the PSU is using the pcie 6+2 pin and the green & black wires on the 24pin of the external PSU are shorted intentionally to jump start it. I can confirm that the PCIE slot itself is working as I have another GPU GTX 1650 and it works. is it possible that the PSU is the issue here or the GPU? it casually works for a few seconds when left turned off for several hours.

Someone is selling a used GTX 1070 for $190 but it's untested since he doesn't have a power supply to test it he didn't plug it into his motherboard the fans spin end the card lights up it also displays a please power down and plug in the pcie connector what's a chance of this card working?

Country: Netherlands Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games 1080p 144hz (Trying to achieve MAX FPS as much as i can when playing games) I don't want to play higher than 1080p. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): This is my current build: CPU: i7-4770k Cooled by CORSAIR h80i Motherboard: Asus sabertooth z87 Ram: 16GB DDR3 Vengeance 1600Mhz GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC 8GB Space: 1x SSD 128GB ADA | 1x 2 TB Seagate Desktop Case: Cooler master Haf x PSU: Corsair CX750M Bronze 750W ATX23 What i want is to keep my gtx 1070 I think my cpu is outdated so is my ram. So my friend is having some issues while playing VR, while the Index is on and running there is artifacting that randomly shows up on either monitor and lots of stuttering in games (this doesn't happen while playing games not in VR). I know a 1070 isn't very powerful especially for the index but even a game like beat saber has awful stuttering issues (and the performance counter this shows frametimes never even get close to the 8.3ms of the 120Hz, they sit way above this, somewhere in the 15ms range.) This combined with the stuttering makes it almost unplayable. Tried re-installing graphics and Index/SteamVR drivers and the Index works flawlessly on my laptop (2070+9750h) even in 144Hz mode.) Any other ideas?

Hi, I recently acquired an Acer Predator (G9-793-76YT) Laptop with a GTX 1070 (and an I7 7700HQ). I did some benchmarks to compare against my Lenovo Desktop Y710, which also has a GTX 1070 (I5 6400). These benchmarks, I think, are not going to impacted by the CPU (in this case). The laptop came out on top in both benchmarks. This is odd since I would have thought the desktop GTX 1070 would beat the laptop. Benchmarks... Superposition (1080p extreme) - Laptop = 3387 Desktop = 3244 Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0- Laptop = 2151 Desktop = 2096 Is this normal? Shouldn't a desktop GTX 1070 peform better than that of a GTX 1070 in a laptop?

Hi guys, I'm building a system soon and wonder which card is better (both are the Asus rog strix 3 fan design). I want to know which one is better and if the difference is significant. I've heard that AMD driver updates made the rx 580 perform much better than before? I really don't care if I have nvidia or AMD card in my system. All I care about is performance, value and thermals etc. Take care, Pete.

Greetings, recently i have purchased a Asus strix GTX 1070 OC edition from eBay and it should be arriving either tomorrow or the day after. while i am waiting for it to arrive i would like to get everything i can ready to minimize setup time. my questions are as follows: 1. do i have to use Asus aura sync to control the RGB lighting? 2. is any special/Asus only software required for the external fan control function? 3. are both HDMI ports available for monitor functionality or is one of them dedicated to only VR headsets? 4. can i monitor the GPU wattage use of this card with MSI Afterburner? 5. what are the most common known problems with this model of card? 6. can the built in NVENC encoder on the GPU be used to render videos in adobe premiere to H.265 ? please only respond if you have experience with this card or the questions i am asking about. thank you for reading and i look forward to some informed responses.

Hello everyone, First time posting here on the LTT forum. Quick overview of my system: My specs are: Intel Core i7-6700K (4.2GHz Base clock oc) CPU Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO CPU Cooler Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming GPU 2x 8GB HyperX Fury DDR4 2600Mhz RAM Asus Z170-K motherboard Corsair VS650 PSU Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD WD Blue 7200RPM 1TB HDD Corsair Carbide Spec-Alpha Tower The build is about 4 years old. Software: Running Windows 10 Education I Believe the Nvidia Geforce drivers were 445.87 but im not 100% sure. The situation: The PC was shut off all day and in the evening I decide to do a little bit of gaming. So I was playing Mount&Blade: Bannerlord for about 15 minutes on one screen and youtube on my 2nd, and suddenly both screens froze but the audio continued for about 10 seconds. Then everything froze, even the indicator lights on my keyboard didn't respond (e.g. capslock, numlock). The only option left was to force quit the pc by holding the power button and restarting it. The restart took longer than normally and once on the login screen there were all kinds of black and white squares accross the screen. They were all the same size in case you were wondering. I've never came accross anything like this. After logging in, the displays go black after 5 - 10 seconds and stay black. Photo and video for clarification: (https://imgur.com/a/Quy7oEh) (https://media.giphy.com/media/PmFMgTiZP4ercmxkew/giphy.gif) Things I tried: I restarted it twice, but both times with the same result. I've pulled out the video card and booted it up on the Intel HD Graphics and that ran without a problem and without the black and white squares. Things I haven't tried: Opening the GPU to check for "any bulging capacitors, brown bits, or what look like fly specks." since I don't have any spare cooling paste to replace it once I've opened it up (and scared to destroy it further). Putting it into a different system since I don't have any other system. Cleaning the system since I don't have a compressor on hand (will probably have this weekend). Things I investigated: I've looked the issue up online and it doesn't seem to be artifacts. No Blue Screens, so can't investigate any dump. It couldn't really have been too hot since I was just 15 minutes in and I believe I have decent airflow (2 air inhale at the front and 1 exhale + PSU fan exhale in the back). It was quite dusty inside the case, but the GPU was the least dusty of them all. (still maybe too much?) TLDR; I'm fairly sure it has something to do with my GPU, since the black and white squares are randomly appearing all over the screen and are absent when I pulled the GPU out and booted on the Intel HD Graphics. I don't know if it is hardware or software related. Anyone has suggestions or know what this issue is? Many thanks in advance!

Correct me if this thread belongs in psu, but i plan to upgrade from a p106 to p104-100 sli. i noticed the p104 is slightly faster than a 1070 so i went with the 8gb version. i leave my cpu fan and 2 case fans at max speed all the time. and my 8086k maxes at 65degrees on all cores. the p106 is really quiot slow fan speed usually maxing out at 53-ish degrees. the main concern is the psu. is 750 watts enough for the p104 sli? ita a corsair 2019 rm750 gold. my cpu is not overclocked the board just enabled the boost so can go to 4.3 ghz. @1.3 volts according to bios. im on linux, and currently use the adaptive clock so i do not know if its concidered a gpu overclock.

Hey guys to those Overwatch players with a GTX 1060/1070 For GTX 1060: May i know if i run at 1440p, Max Settings while recording at 1080p is it possible to maintain 60 fps minimum? For GTX 1070: Basically same question as GTX 1060. Im asking this question because probably the heaviest graphics card work im going to do is Overwatch 1440p Max settings while recording at 1080p and wonder if i should go for the GTX 1060 as the GTX 1070 might be overkill. If you do play Overwatch and have a GTX 1060 card and run at 1440p Max settings may i know your average FPS? (If you do play Overwatch and have either a GTX 1060/1070 card please tell me your average FPS with that settings on!)

Hey guys, I've finally saved enough to buy the all of the rest of the things that I need for my build but I'm stuck on making the purchase because of the cables. I definitely want custom cables or cable extensions from cable mod or something better if there is a better alternative but my big issue is that I don't exactly know what specific cables to get. I would be really grateful for some help. If it's visible I want it nice neat and color schemed. I just really want it to look nice since I'm dropping so much money on it. Hey guys, I recently bought an MSI gtx 1070 X (base clock: 1582, boost clock: 1771) and so far I'm really satisfied with it, although I've experienced some minor issues. I'm a big fan of fallout so I do play it a lot. Because of this I discovered my clockspeed drops below boost or even base clockspeed (clockspeed 1240 and sometimes +-950) causing my fps to drop below 60 fps which is very noticeable (unlike gta5, you don't notice an fps drop at all). This only occurs in some parts of the map (Fallen skybridge, central part of the map, for those who play it) which I think is odd because my card can actually keep clocking at it's normal clockspeed at all times, right? (sometimes it clocks even higher than boost clock in games like Fallout and The Witcher 3 without me overclocking it in any way) I do experience this problem sometimes too in ASTRONEER but this is just a known issue with this alpha game where fps doesnt go past 20 fps when you have built a lot in your map. (clockspeed around 400) Does this have anything to do with my settings or just a bug in the game or something else? I haven't changed any core clock or memory clock setting in MSI afterburner so the card should be behaving on factory settings at that point. Thanks in advance (sorry for bad english)

I'm thinking of buying a MSI GTX 1070 ARMOR 8G OC or a msi gtx 1070 aero 8g but both don't have a backplate. In the Netherlands there aren't any gtx 1070 backplates but there are some backplates for the gtx 1080. My question is: does a backplate for the gtx 1080 fit on a gtx 1070?? Sorry for bad English :')
