Hello all! I recently installed a corsair h75 AIO water cooler and the two fans it came with. Only one issue, my Asus motherboard BIOS wants to protect me from myself (a bit late for that) and limits the duty cycle to 40% minimum for all the chassis fan headers. I think my CPU fan header might have a lower manual duty cycle of around 20% but I'd rather not screw with that because i'd prefer to keep my CPU fan to auto adjusts speed based on core temps. Anyway, preface out of the way, the thing I wanted to ask you lovely ladies and gentlemen of the LTT forum is: What can I do to limit the rpm of my fans... Silly question I know, but besides forking out ~$50 for a PWM fan controller, maybe there are some other things that could be done? I'm not adverse to installing some ghetto resistor in line to the fans considering I have already voided the warranty on just about everything in my case (the aforementioned h75 was for my GPU after all...). But I'm pretty sure the old "voltage divider" resistor trick doesn't work with PWM fans anyways... So, got any ideas? I'd rather not spend money tbh as it's a bit hard to come by right now. And yes, before anyone comments that this thread has already been made a million times, I'm doing it because I know how much you all LOVE answering questions that have already been asked before

Hello, So i just purchased a 580 second hand on the cheap for a short term replacement but the fan control is bad it would only let me change it down to 40%. So i just flashed the bios with nvflash after using NiBiTor.v6.03 to change the fan minimum to 0% and after setting up a fan profile on after burner below 40 its not going any lower still but now it lets me select the lower percentage? Whats going on here how do i get it to actually let me change it below 40% i put it to 0% to test but it didn't change.

Hey, recently i have been trying to figure out how to build my computer and ive noticed something. How am i suppose to turn on my water pump? If i click my power supply on my water pump does nothing if it is plugged into one of the fan headers in my motherboard so is there some kind of way to plug my waterpump into my power supply? or is it becuase my motherboard is dead (it is dead ive checked) but is that the reason why? or something else to why my water pump isnt turning on? is there a switch on the pump or somethin?

Hello LTT users! I have some questions regarding the SpeedFan software so lets get straight to it. Do i need to run SpeedFan in the background for it to control my fans? Can i make a fan react to my cpu temperature and my gpu temperature at the same time or will they fight eachother? How do i know what fan it is im configuring? the names are just to complicated and i cant relate them to any of my fan names (as far as i know). Will SpeedFan override my other fan configurations or do i need to uninstall the other softwares?. I use MSI Afterburner for GPU and MSI Command Center for CPU and System fans. Is SpeedFan really the program to go with? its really complicated imo. Qustions not regarding SpeedFan: How do i know which one of the connectors i should plug the fan into on my motherboard? (x99 SLI Plus) i just plugged them into random 4 pin connectors when i installed some new aftermarket fans. I got two new Noctua fans that should be runnning at 1500 rpm but one of them is only running at 1400 rpm, can this has anything to do with where i plugged them into my motherboard? Noctua users. Do you recommend leaving the vibration pads on or off?

I just recently Frankensteined some old parts into a living room media PC but upgraded the motherboard to a ASUS M5A78L-M USB3 and it has the fans running mat all the time. Granted having a 6 core AMD Phenom II running 5C is nice, it scares the crap outta my cats when it turns on and means I need to crank volume higher to compensate for the additional noise. Could anyone recommend a fan controller (maybe one that isn't molex powered since my PSU has no molex on it) ?

I was adjusting my radiator fan speeds in the bios yesterday, and began to get a burning smell from the PC. the monitor in the bois was showing a normal controlled ~1400rpm from my 2x NF-F12 iPPC 3000pwm fans radiator fans. found the smell was coming from one of them. It would spin up a little then stop. The fan motor was burning hot. I am using a noctua splitter. no signs of damage to the wiring. Disconnected the burning fan, took ou the splitter reconnected the working one. no issues. Did my motherboard just killed the fan, or do i just have a defective fan. Which ive had for less than 5 weeks? Any advise Thanx Using a ASUS maximus formula viii with the lastest bios

I have a Node 202 Build in which i control 2 fans in the GPU bay based of tempeture of the GPU using a NZXT Grid V2 with CAM software and then also control my CPU fan as well as a few more smaller 40mm fans in the cpu champer. I am going to be upgrading my build to ryzen and wanted to know if the software for either of the two boards that are my current options will be able to do this so that i could remove the Grid V2 from the case (every cm counts in a Node 202 build!) The ASRock Software i beleive is called Fatal1ty F- Stream and the Gigabyte software is Smart Fan 5. Im having a hard time finding info online for this. My build this question is for

Hi guys, So I just want to know if I can still control my fans with a pwm splitter like this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EF9OI0O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My question is will I still be able to control 2 fans connected to the splitter if only one of them have 4 pins? Because the other has 3 pins. I bought these because I have 4 case fans in my new system but there were only 3 sys fan headers on my motherboard. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I recently buit a PC and the only real issue I’ve had was with getting the fans to spin appropriately. On idle they spin slightly too fast for the noise to be a non-issue but my only problem is that I’m unsure how to go about fixing it. I installed the AI suite software but didn’t really understand it either. It also changed the fan speeds that I already had so that now they spin a lot faster than before at idle. I tried using the BIOS Q fan tuning but even that didn’t make them as quiet as before. What’s the best way to fix the issue and how? Hey. Thought this would be easy to find the answer for on the internet, but can't find a single straight answer. So can I have my rear fan going faster than my front fans, that are all connected to the same header (sys fan) via pwm fan hub (p7-h1) ? I'm guessing no, but please enlighten me. Thanks

So this is a simple question but I have one of the 2066 asus board the ROG VI extreme and I am trying to find a way to have one of the sensors control the HAMP fan header but sofar it seems the only one I can get to work is for it to change fan speed based on the CPU temp. Is there any way either in a program or in the BIOS that I can choose which sensor is used to control the HAMP fan speed? I am very bad at giving adequate information but If you need more then just ask. Thanks :)

Hello, I have recently installed three HD120 Corsair fans, they run perfectly fine apart from the sound. When I was doing research people said I was able to control the speed of the fans etc so they will speed up when my pc goes under load/ has high temps and would slow down when at idle, as currently speaking I do not know what is the average sound to a computer at idle or under load. I was hoping speedfan would help however they are unable to find my fans - One is plugged straight into the motherboard (4pin) and then the other two are plugged into a splitter (also 4 pin) it is a three way splitter so should I also plug in the other corsair fan into it ? My specs are: 3700x stock cooler, rtx 2070 Super, 16gb 3200mhz, 750w psu and 3 corsair HD120 and two Corsair stock fans that come with the Corsair Spec-06 RGB white. I am one the having a quiet pc when at idle as I find it distracting and when I bought these fans all the reviews said that they sound perfectly normal and quiet at idle, but is this with a controller?? I have also installed HWMonitor and that does pick up my fans unlike Speedfan, however, I don't know how to use the program to its full advantage. I hope you can help me as I want my fans to be controlled by the temperature of the pc, so when at idle with low tempertutes it shouldn't need to be running at 100%. I have looked in the BIOS and hardware monitor, I have turned then onto Smartfan mode however I don't really know what I am doing apart from looking a graph - My motherboard is a x570 MSI Gaming Edge WiFi. Thanks in advance, I am sorry for poor grammar etc as I am typing this after looking for a solution for a couple of hours and I just want to start playing some games etc. I also don't know a thing when it comes to fans etc so sorry if I am being stupid- I am open for learning.

Hello! Earlier this year I built my first PC. I have 3 fans (2 exhaust, 1 intake.) I’m about to go AIO and I want to properly set up the fans so I can control them all and not just have them running because they have power. thank you! they are also wired thru a Silverstone fan hub.

So I had to uninstall and reinstall AU Suite 3 but it isn't installing System Information or Thermal Radar Core. Now my fan profile is gone and I have a jet engine or a computer. Anyone have this problem and find a fix. I've tried contacting ASUS but apparently they are closed on weekends.

To be brief, I had a terrible experience with a High-End Gigabyte motherboard (Sniper 5) and planned to go Asus for my next build. However, Z390 boards kinda suck all around for VRM design except for Gigabyte and I plan on going with a 9900K . I really want the quality of Asus' software (so I can eliminate my NZXT Hue+ and Corsair Commander Pro) but don't want to support their bad VRM design decision which is present on the majority of their Z390 boards. Ergo, has Gigabytes software improved? Specifically their Fan-Control is what I'm interested in most, but also RGB control etc... cause Gigabyte's UEFI hasn't improved. I'd love to hear peoples experience(s) with it bad or good for their more recent models as it's hard to find that information.

Hey guys, I got myself a Kolink Observatory case with 4 included fans. My problem is that they are powered through a included fan hub powered through molex, which makes the fans run at 100% permanently. Would have just bought another hub, but these fans use a 6 pin connector and it seems pretty much impossible to find a hub for them that also allows speed control. Does anybody have a idea to work around my problem?

I just bought a new ASUS VivoBook M409DA , with a Ryzen 3 3250u APU. The laptop has a crappy cooling design, resembling the Macbook air 2020, the fan just blows over the tiny heatsink over the CPU, with no heatpipes. It run HOT all the time, and for some reason the fans just wont ramp up when needed. So i need to manually speed 'em up. The trouble is. . . .. .I can't. HWiNFO Speedfan Argus Afterburner Open hardware monitor Notebook FanControl Tried all of them, ALL OF THEM FAILED. some of them couldn't even detect a fan controller(they didn't show the option to change speed). No BIOS or Driver options exist. the same for the asus control panel What do i do? I really need to change the speed. I will eventually run Linux, so am rooting for the lm-sensors/fancontrol there.....but i think it might fail too... WHAT DO I DO??

So I'm familiar with MSI Afterburner, and I only use it for fan curve management at this point since I get plenty good performance out of my GPU at stock clocks with GPU boost since it's basically brand new. Just one question: Does Afterburner have to run in the background to perform management of your graphics card's overclock and fans? I'd like to close the app because I think it causes conflicts with some of my games. It's a shame that something supporting your graphics ends up crashing the programs that utilize those graphics. At any rate, any feedback here would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi, So, I have been using Speedfan for about a year now, with success. Yet recently I noticed that Speedfan could not find the temperature sensors of anything except my harddrive, saying "Can't find temperature sensor:<component>". Has anyone had this before, and does someone know a solution? Thanks in advance.

I have the Lenovo Yoga 720 15 and I have done repaste the thermal paste for both the GPU and CPU (thermal paste not liquid metal) the problem is it still thermal throttle when under load especially when I disable the turbo boost for the CPU and let it ramp up to 3.8Ghz (factory out the turbo boost is disabled because this computer have very bad thermal management) I tried searching the internet up and down for manual fan control override I just need to ramp the fan to 100% all the time when I am gaming or rendering to get the most performance out of it especially during when I do video rendering. I found some fan controls but is all for the older Flex 2 or thinkpads where non of it works on the Yoga 720 I really desperately need this fan control
