pixel 4a Trying to unlock USB-C video output on a Pixel 4a
Noulo posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
I am very inexperienced in android rooting and everything related, so I'm sorry if I look like I have no idea of what I'm writing about, but I'm trying to get started. I just found out Pixel phones have the USB-C video option disabled in software, which sucks. On the surface many articles I've read say that it is disabled on software, which makes it sound like just installing different software (like a custom ROM) could be a solution. I've also read some that say it's disabled on kernel level, which chatgpt tells me is extremely hard to modify and should be only done by a pro, but on some other forums (which I know I probably didn't really understand) it looks like installing different software, again, could be the solution to the kernel problem. Is it really posible to do this? has someone ever done this? I know the phone could still have it disable on hardware level, but Pixel phones have a way to use an special dock to output video, so it really seems like google just disabled the option but the posibility is there.-

Hey guys, last year I asked if I can unlock the bootloader and root my phone without the permission code from Huawei (which they don´t offer anymore) and didn´t get any positive response. Now I looked again and it seems they removed this code since EMUI 9.1. So I searched for any conformation and just found this https://ministryofsolutions.com/2021/08/huawei-p30-lite-bootloader-unlock-mar-lx1a-lx1m-lx2a-lx2b-lx3a-al00.html They offered unlock codes before as far as I know, but they don´t do it anymore. I saw some sketchy videos on youtube with p30´s with custom os installed, but I´m absolutly not convinced of it. I don´t want to brick my phone so does anyone of you guys have some experience with it since 2021/22 or just can confirm that it is indeed possible ? I searched on XDA as well, but I couldn´t find any post since 2020. Thanks for help

I have a Lenovo Tab M7 that i want to flash since the stock Android 9 is sluggish and can sometimes be unresponsive. However in my search it would seem Lenovo products are notoriously difficult to root and thus flashing a custom ROM is much more difficult. I would like to know if it is possible to flash a custom rom on this tablet and if there is a tutorial for newbies like me. @huilun02 if i recall you once said XDA was your backyard, any input?

Hey guys, I was looking for a custom rom for my p30 lite without any results. I haven´t touched the bootloader yet and I read I can´t open the bootloader. Is that the truth? There are tutorials to do this, but I don´t have any clue if this is correct or not. Does anyone has any experience with it? The P30 lite is on no compability list and that made my a bit scepital. And as always: Please excuse my bad english

I have an old, ASUS Memo Pad 8 tablet. Modell: K00L I would like to use this device as a HADashboard. Unfortunately, the device currently runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Hence, I unable to install the Fully Kiosk Browser nor the official HA application. I am unable to find any custom ROM (e.g.: LineageOs) for this device. Can anyone help me find a solution for this?

Hi, my name is Noah and I'm a very inexperienced mobile modder trying to install a custom ROM to my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950U) and I'm stuck at one part of the process. I've read that you can flash a custom ROM using TWRP, so I'm trying to get TWRP installed to my device but I'm having a very stressful issue. I'm around the point where you use Windows command prompt to run adb and fastboot to flash TWRP to the device, but I'm stuck halfway through the process. My device is powered on and connected. I have enabled USB debugging. After running the command "adb devices" my device is listed. I then run "adb reboot bootloader", and that works just fine. My phone successfully boots to download mode. Here's where I'm stuck. I run "fastboot devices" to make sure my device is still connected properly, and nothing shows up. I try running the fastboot flash recovery command anyways and it unsurprisingly does nothing. I researched far and wide across the internet for a solution and so far the consensus is that I'm missing a USB driver that allows fastboot to connect to my device properly, and installing drivers is no big deal to me, but I'm lost as to what to install them to? My device doesn't show up as a "mobile phone" or under the "other devices" dropdown of my Windows device manager, so I don't know where to install the USB driver (which I received from Google's Android developers page.) All I see is some nonsense that doesn't seem to help. If there are any experienced Android modders willing to provide any help or advice, that would be greatly appreciated! I'm really stuck Thanks, Noah

I've been an android modder since 2013, started with a Samsung S4 Mini, and every android phone I had since was rooted / modded in some form. Last year I modded a Motorola Moto Z2 Play, with all the problems that now root and other mods causes, safetynet issues, netflix doesn't work, games like pokemon go doesn't work neither. Now I am with a Xiaomi Mi 9 everything left on stock, being my first phone without a mod, making me out of the picture of the Android Modding world. What's your opinion about Android Modding today in general? Do you still mod your device in 2019 with all the problems that causes? That was only a problem of mine or do you encountered similar problems?

Greetings! For the past 3 years I own an Exynos S7 edge. 7 months ago I decided to add a custom ROM and so far I have been using the BlackDiamond 9.0 Pie ROM and the LightRom 9.0 Pie ROM, both based on the Note FE stock ROM, both with OneUI, but 1 month ago I decided I would try the Pixel Experience ROM. I first started with the normal Pixel Experience and then moved to Pixel Experience Plus, which I love and is very stable, but I have a little problem with it, both Plus and non-plus. When celular data is off, I get even 3 to 4 days of battery life, but when they are on, I barely get a day. I even flashed the MoRo kernel and tried multiple governors and it did not seem to help. I love this ROM, but I don't know what to do in order to get the better battery life out of it, in the context that on the LightRom, also with this kernel, with cellular data I got around a day and a half up to two days. Any ideas on what I can do to improve battery life?

I tried to install the stock rom on Mi A1 using my laptop which has only USB 3.0 and type C port. It was failing. Then i used the same files and installed the OS using my 7 years old laptop which has USB 2.0 port. I did some googling, where they were saying to install USB 3.0 driver from Intel instead Microsoft. I tried to download the driver, but none of the drivers are getting installing. Can anyone help on that? My System Config (Laptop Model : MSI GL63) CPU : i7-8750H GPU : NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti 4GB RAM : 16GB @2400Mhz

Hi all, this is my first post in a while, with asking help, questions for my wondering topic. I saw LTT do a Android vs Iphone video with a rooted/ rommed G3 and a new battery as the Android test subject. I too had a G3, a AT&T USA model. When i saw how the guys put new life into such an old phone, i was perplexed. I have rooted that phone with a custom rom before, but never to that degree of, well, how good it looked and ran. I always thought the LG G4 rom was cool and what i wanted(this was back in 2015 i tried all this). But sadly, many apps didnt work well with the rom, some, such as Snapchat, outright seeing the root code and blocking me from using it or my Chase Bank app said it was too old of a software version. My question is, is there a workaround for this kind of thing? Is rooting and Custom romming a G3 any easier than it once was? And, with me having a few back up phones(work supplied) that have newer updates waiting should my current s7 active fail, is it EVEN WORTH me going through the hassle to bring the g3 back? I'm up for getting my monies worth out of th phone, as i paid for that one myself, but if its a hassle, or many features wont work, i cant be bothered to do any of it. Yknow? Thanks for being a cool community and id appreciate any help.

Hello there! So i'm having a weird problem with android custom ROMs. So i used a galaxy S5 with Lineage OS 16 as my daily driver for almost 3/4 months, it was an okish experience. Now i got a Moto Z Play and im currently using it as my daily driver for a couple days. And i wanted to install lineageOS on it, or any ROM that is Android Pie on it. But the problem is every damn time i try to install a custom rom in my device (XT1635-02 BTW) it has the same odd bug, whenever I lock the screen it resets when i try to unlock. And i have no idea why... (It aparently works in other devices just like mine, same model that is) does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

After I flashed my j3 with a custom rom I decided to flash my s4 mini(i9195i) too , but I can't find a stable custom rom. Must of what I found are unofficial and have some bugs. Is there any custom rom that passes safetynet and is has everything working? If you want to flash a custom rom on your phone , here is an awesome guide https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1056293-cmd-and-twrp/?tab=comments#comment-12498307 .

Have a Galaxy S6 G920T, TMobile version, that needs serious help at this point. I've tried searching through the XDA website but my version of the phone doesn't seem to be that popular and supported. Do you guys have any roms that would help breathe new life to this dying phone of mine?

I would like to know if there is a custom rom for Huawei Y9 2019(JKM-LX2 C636), or if anyone is even developing one for the said model. If you have any information please post some links. Thanks.

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy J8 from Australia because I lost my phone there. When I came home to India I found out that the Australian J8 does not support VoLTE (Voice over LTE) but I need VoLTE for my Indian sim card to work. So I went to the Samsung service center but they straight away denied any support since I bought this in another country. The Indian varient J8 supports VoLTE but the Australian one does not even when both the phones have the exact same hardware. So its a software limitation. Can anyone suggest any method I can use to install any custom ROM that'll support VoLTE. I'm willing to install anything, root my phone or whatever it takes since I'm never gonna get any warranty on this. So I might as well try everything else.

Hello there everyone, I am planning to get myself the pocophone f1, but am still figuring out whether to flash the Pixel ROM, Lineage OS or Oxygen OS on it. In your expert opinion, which is better in terms of performance, because it has been brought to my attention that these custom roms don't run as good as the original launcher. As we are well aware, rumors has it that Xiaomi is downgrading performance on the pocophone to keep it from outperforming it more permium/flagship offerings. Hence I would like to get maximum performance out of my pocophone. A few things must work right for me to consider the custom rom. 1. Basic functionality of a phone must work without failure (phone calls, etc) 2. Facial recognition 3. Battery usage must be optimized and stable 4. Supports Google camera apk Other than that, I am ready to compromise with some bugs here and there as I am aware these ROMs are not 100% optimized yet. Thank you and I hope to hear from all of you.

So after finding out that you can change a network locked phone to the carrier of your choice, I've made the decision to buy a T-Mobile LG G5 because it has an unlocked bootloader which will allow me to install a custom recovery and such for rooting. The Verizon version of the G5 simply doesn't allow such things. Bootloader issues and such. My concern is will flashing a custom recovery once the T-Mobile G5 is network unlocked revert those settings? Will it stay unlocked for me to use my Verizon SIM or once flashed will it only accept a T-Mobile SIM?

Hi, I have a problem with installing LineageOS on Huawei Y560-L01. I'm stuck in the bootloader unlocking stage. When I enter the command to unlock the bootloader, the error "OEM unlock is not allowed" pops up even though it is enabled in the programming options. I have read that this is done by the system version named B046. I am now trying to downgrade the android to B040 via update from external sdcard, but I get the error "Can not install this package. Error (Status 7)). What should I do now? neither can I try to android or upload twrp.
