Hi, I recently got the problem that I could not connect Bluetooth devices to each other. I Tried to connect my Lumia 520 to my windows 8.1 pro Desktop. They both showed up but after connection them they disconnected after 10 seconds. The same thing happened with my Laptop to my Desktop and laptop to my lumia. They all did the same thing. Is this some update problem or am I doing it wrong? Kind regard, Doggy

Chapters: 1. Chapter 1 : Installing CentOS 2. Chapter 2 : Preparing OS for mysql 3. Chapter 3 : Setting up port for mysql 4. - this tutorial will be based on centos 6.5 LIVEDVD version. Chapter 1: Installing CentOS Note: If you prefer watching video for this chapter : download ISO file from http://wiki.centos.org/Download Choose the x86_x64 Choose Mirror you want to download from Here we Choose the Live DVD. why? why not live cd and the other? Well it's easier. Live DVD have more software and apps included which makes our job a lot easier. Although the size is significantly larger. Now Depending on your Install media there are 2 ways to do it. The first one is using DVD. The second one is using USB drive. Here I'm only going to explain about the USB drive since DVD installation is pretty standard Step By Step Preparing USB for CentOS Installation Download The ISO (live DVD). Download Fedora USB from https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/ . Install the Fedora USB. Open The Program. Select Browse and find the CentOS ISO. Make sure the target driver is right (Target Driver is which USB will be prepared). Click "Create Live USB". Sit back and wait for a few minutes (around 8 minutes for me). After this everything is pretty straight forward You will get this screen The only things to watch out is don't forget to make new user (Make sure the password is different with root password). Just let kdump enabled and don't change anything (if your ram is high enough) (if not disable it). so there you go. That is the end of chapter 1 : Installing CentOS

Hi guys! My network is seriously outdated, and because I just built a file server, I'm looking for an upgrade. My first question is: 4gbit or is 2gbit enough (now I have 10/100  ). I made a partslist, but I'm not sure if everything fits together: 1x Linksys EA6700 4x Intel EXPI9404PTLBLK PRO1000PT 1GBit 4xRJ45 NIC BLK LP (Is there a cheaper option?) (Supports Link aggregation? On the web it says LACP is supported) 1x HP ProCurve 1810-24G Switch, 22xTP + 2xSFP (Overkill?) I also made a list with 2gbit (would be better, cuz it's cheaper ) 1x 1x Linksys EA6700 4x Intel E1G42ET Gigabit ET Dual Port Server Adapter 1x HP ProCurve 1810-24G Switch, 22xTP + 2xSFP (Probably sth smaller, any recommendations) I'm new to this, so sorry if the question sounds dumb to you, everybody has to start out at some point BTW I added two pictures showing how I would connect everything. (And sorry for eventual typos) Thanks for your advice!

Hello everyone, So out of the blue my Netgear GS116E Switch (House one) decided to malfunction and messup my QoS for VOIP settings, I attempted to redo the settings because i forgot to back them up, with no luck. Now all of the computers running on the House Switch get throttled down to ridiculous speeds, I use to get 35.2 down and 3 up now i get about 7 - 13 down and 2.2 up! Network layout: Pic for ref. My server room one is fine, ive tested multiple times and i narrowed it down to the "House" Switch I have my QoS running at 802.1Q Based and my VLAN configured in advanced 802.1Q on the Switch Port 1 is the main line that runs up to the server room. Port 7 is for the Vonage Phone Box. Port 3 connects to the dummy switch (including whatever is connected to it). port 6 is to the office PC The rest are to different rooms in the house but they are unused 98% of the time! VLAN ID 2: VLAN ID 4: Am i doing something wrong? im pretty sure i have all the settings right! Sorry for big post and any help would be appreciated!

I don't completely understand how a NAS works, my understanding is that NAS sends the files to the router and then the router send it to the device but i'm not sure if my connection to the internet effects the speed. My connection to the router is fast but here in Australia my connection the the internet isn't that great (i get about 800kbps down on steam) And how much do slow drives affect the speeds?

Hi, I just want to ask some troubleshooting tips on slow internet speeds. First off, I am comparing 2 computers. AMD dual core / Emaxx mobo A10 / AsRock mobo Now.. I noticed this slow speeds about 5 days ago. My dropbox folder wasn't sycning. I mean, it is, but like 1.2 kb/s. (wtf?) I thought it was dropbox's fault, uninstalled it, reinstalled, located my remaining files, and its still indexing until now. Shit. And then I knew, something was off. I did speedtest. And its awfully down to 0.50 mb/s which should be 3.5 mb/s .. And the most annoying part is that, the other pc (dual core) is getting 3 mb/s. (What the hell router? Got a problem with me?) From a person in tomshardware, they said reinstall the lan driver. I removed it, and installed a new one. I thought the problem was fixed because it was back to normal again, (last night) but here it comes. Intenet speed is ditching me again. I was wondering what causes this? Router > Long cat5e > A10 (I thought this setup would give me more because I am directly connected to the router) Router > Switch > Long cat5e > Dual core (but this guy is faster) So I did the dual core setup, router > Switch > Nothing changed. Please tell me ways on how I can find the source of the problem. Let me know if you need more details. As of now, here are the stats Dual core = 2.29 mb/s while streaming a movie in youtube @ 240p + 5 active torrents (which does not download alot, but its still consuming right) A10 = 1.57 mb/s while using just google chrome. shit.

So folks, shortly after the 4.4.2 update for my HTC One M7 i've been having severe WiFi issues. As you can see by the video below, the phone has a wifi range of about 1-2 meters (line of sight to access point) before either disconnecting or staying connected while displaying the lowest signal bar strength. This happens on any wifi network, not just my home one. This makes the phone practically unusable in most situations. I contacted HTC who were happy to collect the phone for repair. Today I received the device only to be told that the repair service (which goes by the name of 'Regenersis) could not replicate the fault. This is rather astonishing considering how obvious the fault is. Here is a list of everything i've tried that has not worked: - Factory reset - Delete WiFi profile - Disable WiFi optimization' - Renaming WiFi Direct phone name to HTC One - Renaming access point SSID - Changing access point channel - Changing access point password and security method - Using different router entirely http://youtu.be/oOBqp6FDZ08 I will be contacting HTC again and will keep you guys informed. *UPDATE* HTC suggested I send off my device for another repair, so i did. Today it was returned completely fixed, with a new rear casing/housing meaning that the WiFi antenna was most likely the problem. Thanks for your help guys!

Hello All, Ive Had My asus laptop (X550CC) for 4Months now and ive had nothing but trouble, i need your advice. firstily i had my graphics card stop working and would crash my laptop. (BSOD, Nvidia 720M) so i made contact with asus support which was no help what so ever. they redirected me to a offical asus tech shop. so i took my laptop in. and noted down my issues. (BSOD, Not Working GPU, Boot Error, Other Stuff) and after 4weeks! of waiting they got back to me and said it was ready to pick up. so i got my mother to pick my laptop up from the asus tech repair shop. and she took it home. when i got back that day. i read the inspection letter. saying that they replaced the Keyboard?, Motherboard, Hdd, and ram. At that stage you might as well be replaceing the whole laptop. because there will olny be a few parts left. but anyways Keyboard??? why the keyboard. so at closer inspection there was dust over my laptop. so with a fresh microfibre cloth i carefully wiped the laptop screen and the laptop clean. revaling a huge scratch in my screen. it is a deep scratch you can feel it. so anoyed about this i powered up my laptop to see it booting back to windows 8 so once that was finished i updated to 8.1 and got start8 and other programs that i use offten. and since i got the laptop back ive noticed that im loseing internet connection. ill be sitting there playing a game and it will just cut out. or i will be wanting to google somethign and it wont load the page. and all the time skype calls drop. while it still says im connected. so i do all the sub standard repairs. like ( Restart the modem/Router, Restart the laptop, disconnect and reconnect) out of all that the olny method is restarting which i dont want to have to do every time i lose connection which is offten enough like once every 5-10 minutes. right now the olny quick fix other than restarting is to run to the other room plug in cable (cat6) and disconnect wifi. disable the ethernet adapter , re-enable it then enable wifi. which takes a good few minutes. and i cant just run on cable all the time because it does it even on cable. so i dont know if this is a software bug or my laptop in partictular. but im gonna approach the retailer tomoro. and discuss methods of solveing this (Replacement laptop hopefully), i was wondering before i take it in if there is any fix. because i brought this laptop on sale for $999 and its a $1,400 laptop so hopefully i can get an equilivent laptop arround the $1,400 range. because haveing your laptop come back with a big scratch on your screen which haveing (o,c,d) really anoys me. and just ponder this thought if you took your car in to get repaired and they left a big scratch on your car. would you be pissed? or yould you cope with it. for a mid range gameing laptop im not inpressed. so if you have any thoughts on how i can fix the network issue that would be great. because this was extremely hard to type on my tablet. and sorry for any spelling and grammer mistakes because of it being so hard to type on this dam thing. Also sorry if this isint really the right section i dont know. so yeah and sorry i type long storys. just so mad with asus and pbtech {NZ}.(retailer)

Hey everyone! I recently flashed my TPLink wdr3600 with ddwrt, everything went fine during the flash, However, after setting up wireless networks and settings, something weird happened. Some computers were able to connect to the internet no problem, but my main computer would say it has connected to the router however windows designates it a unidentified network and i cannot get online. Weird huh? Any suggestions?

**Quoted from source** "The basic mechanism behind noise-canceling headphones could boost both the speed and reliability of Internet connections, according to researchers that published findings via Nature Photonics. Noise-canceling headphones use a microphone to pick up any outside noises within range of your ears. It then sends an inverse set of sounds picked up by the background noise to cancel it out. Researchers think they can essentially do the same thing with fiber optic cable Internet, which uses light waves to transmit data. However, this requires a lot of power to make the process fast, and this results in lots of “noise” that would otherwise slow down Internet speeds and reliability. Researchers noted that sending twin light beams down a fiber optic cable along with the original transmission of data could basically eliminate that noise, as the light beams would pick up the noise and cancel it out. BBC News notes that the research team led by Xiang Liu of Bell Laboratories used this technique, called phase conjugation, to send a signal of 400 gigabits per second through 12,800 km of fiber optic cable. For perspective, Google Fiber offers its subscribers 1 gigabit per second, and the length Liu’s team sent that signal is longer than the transoceanic fiber links." Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem... Anytime I am doing a build list on the site, my browser (Firefox 29.0) keeps resetting the connection, and I have to keep reloading the page until it stops. I've been in contact with Ryan at PCpartpicker and he doesn't know what is going on. I've disabled add-ons like he told me and I'm still getting the problem. This does the same on Chrome as well, with the exception that it just stops loading and doesn't inform me that the connection reset. PCpartpicker is the only site that is doing this...no other site has this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys, A friend of mine has a problem with his connection. He can access websites, but he can't upload photos to Facebook and he can't download. He is using a wired connection on his desktop. But he can download stuff on his laptop when using the Wi-Fi. Tomorrow I'm going to his house to try and fix that. I could think of downloading new drivers, but nothing else. Any other possibilities or ideas ? Thank you

Hello all, I'm having issues. Let's start with what caused the issue. We had a bad storm a few days back, and lightning struck very close to our home. Our response, was to ignore it for a while (power went out), eventually power came back, and all seemed fine. Until we noticed we didn't have any internet at all. So after further inspection, we found our router had a yellow power light, broadband light lit up, and wireless light lit up green. No amount of resetting, unplugging or anything changed it, so we called AT&T who sent us a new router. Now, we live off the beaten path, so our cellphone signal goes through a cell repeater, so we had to have internet ASAP. So I ran up to the local Best Buy, and bought a Netgear router, and modem. After fiddling with it for about an hour, I gave in, and called Netgear. After an hour phone call, they recommended I return the Modem I bought, and get a new one. Which I did, and got the same issue. I got all lights on, besides the internet light, which turned Red. My computer wasn't connecting to the modem at all, hardwired desktop btw. I gave up with the foreign technical support, and plugged the ethernet cord into my laptop. The connection worked fine, and I was able to sign into the network, and it was perfect. So I tried my desktop again, still no connection. Frustrated, and tired (it's around midnight at this point), I decided to quit working on this computer, and just play on my desktop, because I assumed the issue was with my parents tower. I got to my computer to see the same issue as my parents! No connection, and not sending anything. So, after fidding for a while, I noticed I had cell service (a hardwired connection). So I got my PowerLine adapter (one of the ones that runs signal through the wiring of the house), and plugged it into my computer. Perfect! Connected instantly. Perplexed, I went to bed. Our new AT&T Router showed up today, so assuming the issue was the Netgear router, I plugged in the AT&T one (which is Netgear too...). I got the exact same issue, Wired worked for my laptop, but neither of my desktops. I called AT&T, and after about an hour, I was told they couldn't do anything more, and they gave me a number to a company who tried to fix this stuff for a fee. So I'm reaching out to you LTT community, please help. The connections that work are: Wireless (Phones, Laptops, PS3), PowerLine Adapter, Wired to my Laptop. Connections that don't work are: Switch, Desktop run through only an Ethernet cord. The gear I bought is a Netgear DM111PSP Modem, Netgear N600 Router. Please help.

Hey guys and gals, Want to make my rig (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/stark_source/saved/3x5F) wireless as no easy connection to router. I have a current router/connection to consider, as well as a new router/connection set-up which I will move to in a few months (moving house)). I went straight to PCI cards instead of USB as it seemed cards could offer extra signal strength possibilities. Specific Conditions: The current router is two floors up. (My laptop currently connects to it, though sometimes intermittently, which maybe due to the router overheating (usually a reset helps) or maybe it's due to signal strength, as sometimes a reset doesn't help. Current router connection seems limited to 150mbs (at least that's what my laptop is saying in the connections box, though again, not 100% sure as it's my landlords router/connection so I can't check) Current router may have 5Ghz dual band, but I'm not sure and don't know if I can check from my laptop. The new router, when I move in a few months, will have 5Ghz dual band capacity. New connection will be limited to 76Mbs (BT Infinity Package 2, UK). The router will be one floor down. I'm currently thinking either the TL-WDN4800 or the Asus PCE-N15. I wasn't sure the TL would be worth it, due to connection limitations, though I wondered if this might change in the future, and I know I'll definitely have 5Ghz capacity on new router. Both cards have shown some compatibility issues, though it seems mainly with Windows 7. I'll be on Windows 8. Any advice?

I recently built a new rig and am having some troubles. I'm using an MSI Mpower motherboard that has a built in wireless card. I get wayyyyy faster internet when i connect through an ethernet cable. This is where my problem begins. I can't connect through my ethernet cable. I installed all the drivers for my motherboard, is ther something i am missing? when i plugged my ethernet cable into my old rig, i got the faster speeds immediately. But this time around it just isn't working. I don't know what i'm doing wrong. Or did i just get a bad NIC

I plan on using a wireless router in place of a USB wireless network adapter so my PC may connect to my home wireless network more better. I am living in an apartment right now, so there is a lot of interference to deal with. I am hoping that using a router as a network adapter might net me better overall performance than the USB adapter I am currently using. I dont see any reason why this plan shouldnt work, but I figured I might as well ask around before I start investing time and effort into a project that might not be worth it. CURRENT ROUTER: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122275 CURRENT ADAPTER: NETGEAR WG111 V3 WIFI 54MBPS B/G WIRELESS USB ADAPTER QUESTIONS: Can I expect a performance boost by replacing my cheap-o adapter with a cheap-o (20-30 USD) router? Will mismatching router brands be compatible (Both routers being Wireless N)? I WOULD use an ethernet cable to make the best connection possible, but I am living an apartment, and my landlord will not allow me to route ethernet cables through my walls. <_< Thank you so much in advance for the input!!

For the last few days whenever any device has been used for browsing the internet would be working fine for a very short period of time and then all of a sudden just timeouts. Both cabled and wireless devices have been experiencing the timeouts. Programs such as steam continue to receive packets even when the browsers are timing out and game connections remain up and connected as well. I've turned the router, modem, computer and every possible off and on again.

Hi all, I've been having issues over the last few days with my internet connection taking a good 30ish seconds to establish after I start up my PC. It's a wired connection directly to my router/modem (Virgin Super Hub). I have done google searches but most seem to just suggest disabling certain services, such as bonjour if it is running, from the services.msc - I can't find it running though, and I swear I remember turning that off a long time ago anyway. As far as I can tell I haven't altered or added anything recently that would affect my connection, with the only exception being a paid VPN from CyberGhost, however I've been using this for a few months now and had no problems until the last few days. I even disabled the VPN connection in the 'change adapter settings' area. The only other thing is I recently installed Avast! as a quick free solution for an antivirus because I'm broke atm. That was a week or so ago though, and the problems have only just happened over the last few days. The network connection is through an Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Connection on an Asus Sabertooth Z77 mobo. Other than the simple google search I also tried the obvious turning off and on of the SuperHub router to no avail, as well as checking for driver updates. I've checked these forums for any similar posts but didn't find any. Any help would be great, as booting up on an SSD then waiting 30 seconds to be able to use the internet is pis**ng me off to say the least If you need more information let me know. I hope someone can help, thanks for reading! Nearan.
