Budget (including currency): $2000 Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft Extreme Shaders, Rainbow Six Siege, No Mans Sky, TF2 and more video and imagery software. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc: I am highly considering and wanting at minimum and RTX 2070 super in this build and at least a 6 core processor like the 3600 or the 3600x. I would also prefer going AMD for the processor and also If possible a AIO cooler. If anyone can send me a reply of a parts list that would be greatly appreciate and I would love to get building my new and improved pc. Btw just for back story I am moving from a laptop because all I get is FPS lag and display stutters and how terrible FPS I’ve been lately getting.

Does anyone know when the Intel 10th gen kf processors will be out? All stores I've looked at have showed either 'pre-order' or 'back-order' along with intel saying it is launched. Also, I heard about the shortages on the 10th gen K processors, anyone know how long it takes for it to go back in stock whilst not overpriced?

First I'll get this out of the way, I'm all thumbs when it comes to putting together a PC so that's why I want to buy a pre built computer. I have dealt with things the hard way so this is one of the reason why I want an option where a professional can do the wizard work they do instead of giving myself grief. I'm also waiting on the new Intel and GPU's to come out before I actually do a new rig, waiting is a killer but I feel it's a good idea to do so when the timing is so close. That leaves of course a problem..........who do I buy from? Americans sure get a lot of choices but a professional custom built PC from a reliable Canadian seller feels........lacking. Or maybe I'm not looking at the right spots. Sure you can get some decent PC pre built systems from a few choices but none are exactly what I want like SLI. Yes I know it's a waste these days a lot but it's one of those things. You know what I mean, still want it. Plus I wouldn't mind have some actual customization options to tweak things so I can get the system I want. There must be places out there that no matter where you are in Canada you can get such choice. I can't say I trust sellers like Ibuypower or the like. Everyone seems to hate Alienware these days. So where do you go. Anyone know? Someone trustworthy that can help get me the build I want and not worry about how it'll be shipped. What does a Canuck do.

Esports is a up and coming industry in Canada, lots of professional and amateur teams are popping up all over the country. This week as sites like Engadget and Richmand News have reported, << Myesports Ventues has announced that it's opening The Gaming Stadium, billed as Canada's first eSports stadium, in Vancouver (specifically Richmond) sometime in 2019. >> As the article suggests it's interesting that one is being opened in western Canada over eastern Canada despite there being a bigger interest in places like Toronto or Montreal. The location is also not going to be the biggest Engadget is reporting that it will have <<room for 250 fans, 40 gaming stations and broadcasters>> Who knows if this will be a issue as gaming grows in popularity. Engadget is reporting that this arena will be a community driven location with << competitions at "all skill levels" >>. It's going to be interesting to see how this location affects the local gaming scene and the national one too! Hey forum, as the title suggests it, I'm looking to buy some acrylic tubing for a desk-pc project. I need 16mm OD/ 12mm ID and lenghts of at least 1500mm. I have my fittings and everything from ekwb, but they don't offer tubes longer than 500mm and the shipping and duty fees are crazy when ordering from canada. Any suggestions?

So I was just browsing the Koodo website, looking at phones and I can’t help feeling confused. Say you want a $950 phone. Koodo will give you something like $360 in activation credits (explain this please) but you have to switch from a « no tab » plan to a « tab large » plan. And the tab large plan is essentially the same as the no tab plan but it costs more. So do you basically end up paying the same $950 price for the phone because you pay less up front but your plan gets more expensive? FYI, the data plans in Canada are better right now. But it’s only temporary as a promotion thing.

As for the state, I am actually looking into Newfoundland but I ain't too bothered about specific states just in general. (Aware it varies from state to state) Basically what I am curious about is for people under 25 with a random car as an example, say an older Civic or cars after the early 2000 What would paperwork be like from purchasing the vehicle to getting it registered? (I am more interested in a rough idea of the proccess than the cost here) What would insurance be like for someone without a past record? Parking charges?

Canada's latest attempt at a unified Payroll system has imploded. It's sad to see IT projects fall apart. Either through budget problems, feature creep or lack of knowledge and understanding. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/05/29/canada_phoenix_payroll_system_audit/ So a massive extra cost just to rip it out and start again. I know it's a bit of old news, as this is just a confirmation that it failed by the auditors at this point. But it got me wondering about things like how tiny little companies can get it right or wrong, in comparison to national or global companies getting it right or wrong. I guess scale makes a massive difference. So the advice to LTTs and their "IT" systems? Keep it simple, because the bigger it is, the more you can drop! [edit] I just realised... this one needs to rise from the ashes!

This just in (well much earlier today) that the HomePod is coming to Canada, France & Germany! Anyone else excited? Siri has been a PITA lately but I’m hoping she’ll improve over the next few months, maybe this upcoming WWDC will show us some improvement coming. Pricing will be $449 CAD, which is $100 more than the USD price! Which acually works out better for myself and my Canadian friends. $349 USD is almost $470 CAD after exchange and such. https://www.apple.com/ca/shop/buy-homepod/homepod

I live in Canada and I recently found out that Google Assistant was finally available on iOS devices here. So I installed it on my iPhone and have been playing with it on and off. Today, I asked the assistant who is Linus. Since I never specified a last name, I was wondering what it would say. The answer? None other than Linus Sebastian! The Google Assistant (at least in Canada) automatically starts telling us about our Linus when simply asked "Who is Linus?" Meanwhile Cortana (on my iPhone) refers me to Linus Torvald, and Siri to Pope Linus (second pope of the Catholic Church), It's settled, Google Assistant is the best AI assistant.

https://www.indystar.com/story/entertainment/2018/05/14/tim-hortons-indianapolis-avon-closing/609571002/ I didn't know this existed, and I won't have time to get to it before Wednesday. When I was younger I spent a few weeks in both Ontario (Oshawa for Mosport) and Quebec (Mont Tremblant for Le Circuit Mont Tremblant) and I didnt know about Tim Hortons so I never went. I was just amazed by the fact you get french fries with gravy on them. I have never gotten to try Tim Hortons Coffee or any of their food.

I recently purchased a Dell U2417H. Got this directly from Dell Canada. I noticed after a week that there are some bright spots from the monitor. Not really noticeable but it's been bugging me ever since. It's visible on bright colors especially white. It's located on the middle lower left portion of the screen. Here is a sample image: Located at right on this screenshot https://i.imgur.com/I63rAq1.jpg Should I call Dell about this? I'm mainly concerned if I will be in charge of paying the shipping in case they approve it. I found some solutions in the Internet but afraid to try as it might affect my warranty. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/freedom-of-information-request-privacy-breach-teen-speaks-out-1.4621970 https://archive.fo/si7b7 15 officers raided the family home last Wednesday morning The teen has been charged with "unauthorized use of a computer," which carries a possible 10-year prison sentence, for downloading approximately 7,000 freedom-of-information releases The provincial government says about 250 of those contain Nova Scotians' sensitive personal information. On Friday, the premier accused the teenager of "stealing" the information. But in an interview with CBC News, the 19-year-old says he thought he was downloading an archive of public information that was supposed to be freely available on the internet "The website had a number at the end, and I was able to change the last digit of the number to a different number and was able to see a certificate for someone else's animal that they adopted," he said "I decided these are all transparency documents that the government is displaying. I decided to download all of them just to save," it took a single line of code and a few hours of computer time to copy 7,000 freedom-of-information requests "I didn't do anything to try to hide myself. I didn't think any of this would be wrong if it's all public information. Since it was public, I thought it was free to just download, to save," It wasn't the first website the 19-year-old had saved for general interest he has around 30 terabytes of online data on hard drives in his home, the equivalent of "millions" of web pages. He usually copies online forums such as 4chan and Reddit, where posts are either quickly erased or can become difficult to locate. "I preserve things, I archive the internet. I have history on my computer, and all of that should be saved and preserved," The teenager says since he was downloading public records off a public website, it all feels unfair. "I just had no malicious intent and I shouldn't be charged for this," he said

So I was playing around the Koodo website looking at phone plans in different provinces. And it occurred to me that Saskatchewan phone plans are much lower than Alberta phone plans. They're basically half price! And I live in Alberta unfortunately! How would you go about getting a Saskatchewan phone plan as an Alberta resident?
