I recently bought a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 6gb Windforce to replace a 960 on the black friday sales. It's a good card and works great. However, recently whenever I start up my computer, it always blackscreens and my monitor will turn off because it wont detect the computer. Restarting does not work. The only things that works is turning off the power supply with the switch, flipping the switch and booting it up again. Even then it's really slow to show display. It's a pain to do this every time. The card never used to do this this when I first got it. Is there a way to fix this besides getting a replacement? I'd prefer not to send it back for a replacement due to not having a GPU for that time period.

So I recently installed a rx 460 on my rig, and whenever I try to quit Team Fortress 2 in full-screen mode, I get a black screen that does not respond to anything. I've tried waiting several minutes. I know it's not the rest of the computer as it is pretty good specs(i5-6600, WD blue 1 Tb, standard MB) and it's new. So what I end up doing is shutting off the computer via power button. Any way to fix it?

So, I just bought a new 144hz 1440p Monitor. Before I was using 2 1080p @60Hz Monitors and everything worked fine, but after connecting the new monitor I noticed that when gaming the screen turns black for a few seconds and then comes back. Everytime this happens it says "DP" in the upper right corner like the monitor was reconnected. I also see some random artifacts that go across the screen from time to time. The cbales arent the problem and neither is the monitor itself, because I tested with my old GTX 950 and it worked fine. Specs: XFX RX 580, Ryzen 7 2700x, G.Skill aegis 16gb ddr4, samsung evo 970 m.2, asus x470 pro, corsair 650w psu, win 10 I already tried reinstalling latest and some older AMD drivers, disconnecting the 2. Monitor, setting HZ to 120/60, resolution to 1080p, undervolting. Another thing I noticed was that the GPU runs at 50°C on idle with fans randomly revving up and under load it can reach 85°C at 144hz and 75° at 120hz. Any help is aprreciated. So I was gaming when suddenly my screen went black and all the sounds suddenly stopped, i thought it was just a crash but moments after my monitor prompted that it wasnt reading any signal. I hit the restart switch immidiately and still no signal when it was supposed to be at the user login, i got a signal when i unplugged it from the GPU port and plugged it in my motherboard port. I preceded to going back to my game then i noticed that its not utilizing my GPU with all the fps im getting. I closed my game then went to open the AMD settings but it wont open. I checked on dxdiag if it was reading my gpu for the display tab but no, its on intel hd 530 graphics. I havent done anything else from that point on. Any ideas kind sirs on how to go about this problem? and thank you in advance also the gpu leds are still working, not sure about the fan though since i set it to only spin when its on high loads.

Hello to everyone who takes the time to read through this infuriating story: First things first though, so here go specs: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Asus Rampage IV Black Edition BIOS Version 2.10.1208 i7 4930k 3.4ghz 4x4GB Kingston HyperX Beast 1866mhz CL10 DDR3 Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X 8GB 1060mhz (GPU) / 1400mhz (Mem) BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 11 850W No OC Overvoltage protection on the wall outlet (in case of thunderstorms which have never happened) So, here goes nothing: A couple weeks ago I was browsing the internet when my screen suddenly went black and the PC fell silent. After about 2 secs it restarted by itself and showed this message: Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. Asus Anti Surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply! Press F1 to run setup. I didnt think too much of it and went on with things, but right after relogging, the damn thing did it again. After that point the reset happened right after the BIOS flashscreen was over. So, three resets in short succession. Then a glimmer of hope: It worked through the Windows Startup Repair screen which had appeared. It did that all perfectly fine. It restored to a previous backup and I got through to log in. After 5 mins the same exact process began again: 3 resets, startup repair and so on. This pattern was and still is something I cant explain to me. My first guess: PSU has got to be at fault. Why else the message from the MB? So I file a warranty claim, RMA my Dark Power Pro 10 850W and BeQuiet go ahead and send me a brand new Dark Power Pro 11 850W. Here is what they found to be wrong with the old one after 4 1/2 years of running perfectly fine: P08/E10 - DC unstable Happy to have basically gotten a new next gen PSU for free, I went ahead and unplugged all the old cables and redid all the cablework for the new one. PC on, works great, update programs, works great, do backups, works great. And then: *click* *blackscreen* *reboot* *same message* It worked flawlessly for about 40 minutes. PC runs indefinitely when in the BIOS. Here is what I got from doing some basic research on the topic: I disabled Asus Anti Surge in the BIOS. It didnt help. PC shut down regardless. Different PSU: Kinda not necessary, except I should prove to be so unlucky that I got a defective unit from the factory. Different powerbar: Nothing. Different wall outlets for every component (PC, monitor, speakers). Nothing. All wires are properly plugged in, I even dusted the thing when I did the PSU swap. Here is whats up: It runs a bit more stable now, meaning it doesnt reboot after 5 mins but instead after 10. It hasnt yet crashed during startup. I managed to run some basic utilities like CPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, Kombustor and Radeon Settings. Something to note here: AMD Wattman was complaining about something after every reboot and showed that settings were reset after an error had occured. While Kombustor was running, I noticed that the GPU clocks were behaving eradically, jumping between 300mhz and 900mhz, but never reaching the desired 1060mhz. Voltage was also fluctuating. In idle the GPU memory clock would spike to 1400mhz for a couple of seconds and return to 300mhz right after. CPU stress test showed nothing special really. So, did my PSU kill something? Or did my GPU kill the PSU? Again? The PC is highly unstable when doing anything beyond the login screen, so it aint of much use to me as of right now... My next step would be to go around begging for a GPU to test if that is it. I havent yet done the whole "switching around the memory" thing, so I might give that a shot. Im really lost here, guys, Id appreciate your help. Cheers! zocki

The PC is new and I've build it myself, everything was working well until last week when I changed the monitor for one with a refresh rate of 144hz. At first there were crashes very rarely while playing games, but one day they started to get more frequent. Then when I restarted the PC the monitor displayed a message stating no signal, whit the lights of the pc turned on, and the fans spinning. Sometimes when the pc restarts, the start is normal but when I open a game it crashes almost instantly, I tried updating the drivers and BIOS, but the problem persisted. Hi everyone, I am new here and joined with hopes to find a solution to an issue I have had since I built my PC. I've had my PC Built for about 3 months. I have done my fair share of research on a like issue but it seems nothing works and I might be missing something simple. So I hit my power button on my computer tower and everything turns on as normal. Lights, fans everything turns on. My monitors are asleep (look turned off but on standby) waiting for a signal from GPU. They are both connected directly to GPU one with DP one with HDMI. The monitors turn on (to black but turn on fully waiting to display image) but there's no windows login image they just detect the GPU sending a signal I assume but display "No Signal". So what I have to do is, press the power button again and it powers off with one quick push (normally it won't power off with that you have to long press it). I then have to press it again after it turns off and then everything starts perfectly. I should mention this happened before overclocking anything and I have been running stock up until a week ago. I am so confused how to fix this, here is what i have tried and no fix yet. I have disconnected the GPU from slot 2 and placed in slot 1(where it should've been), I dust cleaned everything, I have unplugged the GPU power and plugged power back in, I have updated BIOS, GPU drivers are up date, Windows is up to date. Hello, I have built my PC one week ago with the following specs: Specs: * CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 running stock * GPU: RX 480 8GB Sapphire Nitro+ OC (2nd hand) running stock, 1306MHz clock speed and 2000MHz Memory * SSD: Kingston A400 480GB * RAM: 2 x ADATA XPG Gammix D10 Red 8GB DDR4 3000MHz CL16 running stock at 2666MHz * MB: Asus TUF B450-M Gaming * Power supply: Corsair VS Series VS550 550W Temperatures during gaming: * CPU: 70 degrees, max 73 * GPU: 80, max 83 degrees at 100% load all the time I am having trouble with my build as I get those random black screens when gaming (Apex Legends and PUBG) where my PC is freezing, buzzing in headphones and after 3-4 seconds, the monitor is turning off, the peripherals are turning off but the PC is still running, leaving the only option to restart. There is no error displaying, event log doesn't catch anything, no BSOD, but after the login to Windows 10, I get the "Wattman restored the default settings due to unexpected system failure" error. I have never touched Wattman whatsoever. I am running Adrenalin 2019 19.5.2 driver. Memtest didn't return any error, Furmark doesn't crash. What should I do? I am so frustrated by this issue that I feel like returning every part and getting my money back.

I wanted to build a small and cheap server, so I went with a Ryzen 3200g and a Deskmini from Asrock. I used a salvaged SSD from a previous build that had Windows 10, but since I wanted to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows, I completely formatted the drive. Before the format, I was able to run the Windows 10 on that SSD fine (and even on the same computer as I forgot to go into BIOS and change boot order), and did not know there would be problems. When I installed Ubuntu and Windows, everything seemed to run fine on their respective first boots. Starting on the second boot, I was not able get past grub on Ubuntu (frozen purple screen), and was not able to get into Windows (frozen black screen). Now, I can't even get live-USBs to work for both Ubuntu or Windows; the former gets stuck at grub and the latter doesn't boot at all (black screen). I can't seem to find anything wrong with my PC. I've reset BIOS, cleared CMOS, and reformatted my hard drive a bunch of times. At the grub menu, nomodeset doesn't help with the black screen issue. As of now, I have reformatted my hard drive and all of the space inside is unallocated. At this point, I would be happy with booting into just one of the aformentioned OSes, but as of now I am not able to reinstall them. I feel like this might be a graphics issue, but I am able to get into BIOS, the grub screen, and the Windows Recovery Screen (which redirected back to itself if I clicked anything) before I reformatted my hard drive.

Hello, for almost half a year now I am suffering from various Problems of my pc. Since I have updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (after my SSD and HDD both died) my gpu is Performing way worse than usual. In games where I used to get consistent 180+ FPS, I am now having unstable FPS that varies between 90 - 180 I have literally tried everything, from changing Windows and AMD Settings (Game Settings, power saving Settings) to clompletely uninstalling Microsofts applications. I have already contacted the manufacturer of my gpu, but even they don't know what to do anymore. And this is sadly not even my only Problem. Since today my pc also seems to crash while playing games. I've had 2 Bluescreens and 1 blackscreen with the gpu fans spinning at max so far. I have already searched for damaged data with cmd; in fact Windows has found damaged files and repaired them, but it didn't help. I have checked if my GPU or my CPU are overheating but they are both running below 80°C (75°C at max) I really don't know what to do anymore... I am having These Problems for a Long time already, sometimes they're gone and from one to the other day they just come back. I have already bought a new PSU (850W Seasonic Gold) but that didn't change anything either. I already had similiar Problems with my old GPU, which was a RX 480 8GB, if that plays a role. I hope someone can help me with my Problem but I have honestly lost my hope to have a working pc. Specs: GPU: RX Vega 56 OC (msi) CPU: i7 - 6700 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H170-HD3 DDR3 RAM: Corsair Vengeance (1600Mhz) 4GBx4 PSU: Seasonic Gold 850W

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 MB: ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus WiFi, S-AM4 RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz 16GB GPU: RX 5700 XT ASUS TUF Gaming M.2 SSD: Corsair MP600 1TB PSU: Cooler Master MWE Gold PSU 650W OS: win10 home Monitor: MSI Optix MAG271CQR I just built this computer, ive installed all the supposed necessary drivers, but i get constant random black screens for about 2-4 seconds at a time; they usually happen when i open some window or some animations happen on screen, even happens when i select fields to start writing in. Games dont work at all, screen goes black for 2-4 seconds and the game crashes (Managed to play Minecraft for about 20 sec?). I also noticed that AMD Radeon Settings freezes every time after a black screen happens, only way to use it again is to close all its tasks in task manager and restart it. I get the "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered" each time a black screen happens (attached image). I also notice that the screen freezes first, and cursor is actually moveable for 1 sec and then it goes black? Ive reseated my gpu several times, and checked the power cables. I have also reinstalled the display drivers several times, one time with a clean reinstall using Display Driver Uninstaller (currently running 19.8.2) Using HDMI instead of DP seems to cause less black screens during normal use ( i THINK ) but still goes black when starting games. It couldnt possibly be the PSU Wattage? Anyone got any clue? Hopefully the info provided could help someone narrow it down at least.

Yesterday I was working on my term parper when my PC bluescreended out of the well blue. This ended up with not being repairable, and after about 3 hours of searching for tips and tricks on the web I had to format. After formating there where several new chrashes, both mid and after install of windows 10 x64 home edition. After switching from my ssd to my m.2 i still had the same issues, now i kinda got the pc running with my old raptor hdd. But now I can only use Edge for browsing, the whole pc is lagging if I try to do anything more than move the mouse. Freezing and stuttering happen alot, and I have no idea what is currently the issue. Specs: Windows 10x64 Home (up to date) 16 GB DDR3 Vengance Ram 1070 Msi Armored Edition GPU 4790k Intel CPU Kingston HyperX Fury SSD (The one I used to have my OS on) Crucial CT500mx200ssd4 (The M.2 I could not get to work anymore) Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD2500HHTZ 500GB (Pretty sure thats the name of my raptor and currently main hard drive) ASUS PCE-AC56 AC1300 (Wireless adater, only way to get internet)

Hello, I built my computer in February of this year. Everything had been working fine for a good long while until just recently I started experiencing a problem where the screen goes black for just a couple of seconds. It was pretty annoying but I could deal with it. Then it started to happen more frequently which made me wonder what was going on. I began to notice that for Minecraft it would occur a lot when I had my shaders on and then at other random times during my playing sessions. In Overwatch it was just unpredictable however. Sometimes it would be just fine. However there are days, specifically today, where my screen flickered black and I had to restart my computer. Another time during the same session my computer just crashed all together (this was after I turned my graphics down a little). I suspect that it has something to do with the graphics card but I'm not too sure. Keep in mind I'm no computer genius so I'm not sure if the problem is easily fixable but I was really hoping that I could get some answers and help here. I will leave a list of my PC specs below. Let me know if there is anything else that you need to see. PC Specs: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Gigabyte Arorus B450 Pro WiFi 16GB Corsair DDR4 3000 (2 sticks of 8) ASRock Radeon RX 580 EVGA 650 G3 Power Supply 500GB Western Digital SSD NZXT H500i The picture is the message I got when my computer crashed. I also have a video of it happening. This is when I play Minecraft with shaders, although it can happen without shaders as well. (Sorry for poor video quality) IMG_3112.MOV

Hello there, I've upgraded my System yesterday from an MSI B150M Bazooka with an i5 6500 and Sapphire Nitro+ Rx480 4GB to: Windows 10 Home 64 bit MSI B450 Tomahawk Max (BIOS version 3.5, latest) -new Ryzen 5 3600 (stock) -new 2x8GB G.Skill SniperX RAM (3600MHz XMP) -new MSI RX5700 XT Gaming X 8GB (stock) -new Sabrent 1TB M.2 boot drive -old 2x256GB SSD, 3TB, 4TB HDD storage drive -old EVGA SuperNOVA 650GQ Modular (650W 80+ gold) -old In the process I've had to reformat my M.2 since I was stuck in the automatic repair loop by Windows and I did a fresh Windows install while reusing my other drives. Now after booting into Windows just fine and it working well without a load but after a while on some load or light gaming like League of Legends I keep getting flittering to a short blackscreen with resumed functionality afterwards until the game crashes eventually. Heavier load games like MHW or ARK crash straight when starting up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers(also from save mode with DDU), tested the RAM with the inbuilt Windows test as well as Memtest86, reinstalled Windows, reseated the RAM, reseated the Graphics card, installed all the newest drivers and updates on all installs and checked the cables. I also got a BSOD(VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, atikmpag.sys) twice and just now I had a visual glitch on Chrome while writing up this post. I've attached the wanted reports for BSODs as well as a picture of my graphics card utilization during the crashes and the Chrome visual glitch which fixed itself after a blackscreen in this Google Drive .Also here's a video of the issue in League of Legends. Since the new Graphics card just arrived today I just want to say that I've had the same issues when I tried the system yesterday with my RX480 but just one Driver and Windows reinstall. I really hope you can help me out and let me know if you need any more data. Thanks in advance, Moritz P.S: I forgot to say that the Radeon Adrenaline Software crashes on each blackscreen.

Hi, My friend just got a new build from Cyber Power PC and he's having issues with Arma 3, When he makes the game full screen the screen will go black but he can still hear audio, Also he cannot use full-screen window cause when he's in-game his mouse will show up but not be able to click anything so he's forced to use windowed mode which sucks tbh, So does anyone know what could maybe be the issue?

Hi guys, 1st time posting here, i've got a really annoying problem at the moment which started about 2 weeks ago (my pc is about 5 months old now). Mid-use (mainly while gaming but has happened while not under load as well), my monitor will turn off saying that its not getting signal from the HDMI 1 / HDMI 2 anymore. Changing the HDMI slot i'm using when this happens does not fix the problem. I then have to turn the computer off and change the HDMI cable into the other slot that its not currently on, then when I turn back on, it picks up the signal again (most of the time), if i force restart without doing this it will say no signal from HDMI 1/2 whichever is currently in use. Have tried using display port cable instead but does not change what happens. I am not good technically, this is my first time with a pc i've built, but i've tried updating drivers, bios, monitor software, fiddling with fans, tweaking settings in AMD wattman and a few other bits and pieces but the problem keeps coming back... I've found a couple of people who also have the same/similar problem (see here for reference (my computer doesn't restart itself like his does though) - https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/bbjad5/my_computer_restarts_and_black_screens_every/), their end fix was swapping it with someone else's card which isn't an option for me. Also i forgot to say one thing its done a couple of times - the screen goes black and then statics for a second and then reconnects without me doing anything. This happens I feel instead of the blackscreen thing, like the PC is doing this and then not going into full shit mode. Its annoying but way better than having to force a restart. My monitor is a Optix MPG27CQ, graphics card is a vega 64, cpu is AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Gen2 8 Core AM4. I would really love some help if possible please as I just want to get on and game uninterrupted! Any help appreciated, many thanks.

Hi. I recently built my PC and I've been having issues with my hardware disconnecting from my PC while I'm gaming. When I start playing every few minutes the screen flashes to black for about a second. After about an hour, the monitor loses connection with my PC, as does my keyboard and mouse. When it happens, I can still hear the sound but when I alt+f4, the sound keeps playing. Here is my PCPartPicker list. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Hey guys, I'm building my new rig right now and while at that I upgraded my display aswell (so I thought) I bought the display I mentioned in the title when it was on sale. Now to the problems: I connected it to my old Laptop, where the display runs at 3440x1440 at 50hz over hdmi. Every now and then the screen goes black, sometimes immediatly returning to the previous picture, sometimes just going into "energy saving mode". I updated the drivers of both the intel hd 4600 and the gtx 780m im running in the laptop. further I searched for new drivers for the display but it was already at the newst drivers. Additionally I get a strange tearing artefact (much rarer than the black screen) where I get a green/violet line that appears on maybe 1/3 of the monitor, mostly in the right top corner. Its only there for 1-3 frames maybe. So, since I thought this was the problem of either Intel Hd 4600 i plugged it into my new rig (which has no coolers yet since im going custom water cooling) and used the dp cable I got with the display itself, i had the same problem with black screens. I tried an old monitor on both, the laptop and the new Pc and had no black screens. I know this is leading to a return the monitor answer, but maybe someone knows some techwizardry... the old laptop has this specification: i7 4700qm, gtx 780m, 16 gbs ram, the new pc got i7 8700k, rtx 2080ti, 32gbs ram, 750 watt psu. I attached a video for the green "matrix" artefact and a bad photo of the violet artefact. IMG_5856.MOV
