So I just got a new PC and tried to connect my 2 monitors to it. If I have 1 monitor connected, it works fine, but when i connect my second monitor - it works normally for about 30 seconds to a minute, and then the monitors turn off, aswell as my keyboard and mouse (indicated by the LED lights turning off) and im gonna assume everything else connected shuts off too, but the PC itself is still running - i can hear the fans. This is a really unique problem that I couldnt find a solution too anywhere else, so thats why im posting here. The monitors are connected to HDMI ports using adaptors. I'm using a RX 580, a Ryzen 2600 on a B450 Pro4. For more reference, I'll attach a full list of the stuff my PC is using. Really hoping I can find a solution soon, cuz this is giving me grey hairs at this point LOL

Hi guys, Let me start off with the build: CPU: 3700x with stock cooler MB: x570 Aorus Elite Graphics: 5700xt Nitro+ PSU: RM750X SSD: 500GB 970 Evo Plus SSD: 1TB 860 Evo HDD: 2TB Barracuda RAM (only temporary), i've got 2xpsd416g21332 and one m378a2k43cb1-crc Case: Cooler Master H500 The situation is as follows. First time building my own PC; took me 3 hours to assemble and then another 3 trying to set up Windows. After first assembly, system booted with no issues; managed to install windows 10 pro without a hic. In windows, started installing drivers using Driver Pack Solution. The installer failed on 3/20 drivers (2 for my external USB sound card and the other was the graphics card). Restarted system, and BLUE SCREEN (didn't manage to get the code). Did a system restore, and tried the same thing without the drivers that first crashed. After rebooting, the system was no longer booting into windows. Tried restarting a couple of times, and noticed that not even BIOS was showing anymore. Tried to boot from my USB Windows stick; but to no avail. I realized that the computer was no longer POST-ing. To note: when powering on, all LEDs light up, fans start spinning (both CPU and GPU fans) Now for my troubleshooting part; tried doing whatever I could without first taking the MB out of the case: tried all RAM slots with the m378a2k43cb1, nothing; disconnected every other peripheral, nothing. At this point, I take the MB out of the case for troubleshooting. Did a lot of CMOS clears: taking out battery (leaving it out for like an hour; with PSU disconnected), using the pins and also emptying PSU capacitors. Re-adjusted CPU cooler, and also re-applied thermal paste. Tried to update BIOS using qFlash button, but did not work. Tried switching with the other set of RAM, in all configurations. Noticed that monitor was going into stand-by when PC was powered off, and when turned on, it just kept switching inputs, trying to find a signal. So, I'm guessing, I still have some sort of signal. Last I tried, only things connected where CPU and GPU. At this point, I'm waiting on my other sticks of RAM to arrive F4-3600C16D-16GTZN, hoping that it was somehow a RAM issue; but if won't be the case...I don't really fancy waiting another 2-3 weeks for RMA-ing and getting new parts. Any ideas?

Help, my computer has been black screening for the past year. Usually during gaming, but has crashed on windows login screen before. specs: Windows 10 Pro 64bit X79 Sabertooth i7 4820K (liquid cooled with H100) 24GB ddr3 Corsair vengeance GTX 1080Ti evga black edition 1200W Corsair PSU cpu temp idle: 45c cpu temp under load: 50c Gpu temp idle: 37c gpu temp under load: 49c things I’ve tried multiple times: turn it off and on again lol reinstall windows full disassemble and reassemble (cleaning and checking for hardware damages, no damages found) bios reset run memtest (no failures found) reapply thermal paste reseat ram Change GPU (gtx 560, 780ti, 1080ti, and Rtx 2080ti) all resulted in random black screens reinstall drivers (fresh install after fresh windows) changed monitors (maybe 4K was too high, but 1080p resulted in random black screens as well) underclock everything in the pc over volt everything in the pc swapping storage devices (4 different SSDs, 3 Different HDDs) at this point I don’t know what else I can do to fix this problem, I don’t have money to buy a new pc. I need this pc for work. But I can’t work if it keeps crashing. can someone tell me what I missed? i cannot find a way to consistently cause the pc the crash. every time it crashes during a benchmark, the next time it gets to that part, it wouldn’t crash. also in task manager it always says my bios time is 10000+ seconds, even though it takes 30 seconds to boot in to windows.

So, my old PSU had 250W and I got myself a GTX 1060 3gb. Of course that wouldn't be enough, so I bought the Fusion550R. I took out the old PSU and put in the new one. PC started as usual, PSU also started normally. But my problem is that my monitor doesn't have a connection. I tried it with other monitors, no solution. I don't hear any beeps, the fans are running normally and all LEDs are on. My mainboard is the "ecs z370h4-em". I tried to plug in my old power supply and it's not working. Do you have any solutions?

Hey guys, so I am fairly new to the pc building scene (first build, actually) and have been relying on a lot of YouTube videos to get me through... Anyway long story short... I need some help my brand new XFX Radeon RX 5500 XT THICC II Pro is giving me issues, when I try to install AMD adrenalin software, it goes up to approx. 65% the screen flashes and then goes black, the gpu fans stop spinning and I don't get a video signal anymore until I reboot into safe mode and remove the driver using DDU. It works fine on the basic windows driver. My motherboard is an MSI B450M gaming plus, 16gb of ddr4 ram (2x8gb sticks), the cpu is a ryzen 5 2600x. I'm running the latest version of windows 10 with all updates installed. Can anyone help? I've tried many of the common suggestions such as disabling the internet, running the DDU and then trying to install the drivers, nothing has worked so far. Any help will be appreciated. I start nioh and it shows black screen for few seconds and then it crashes. Tried to change resolution and graphics but it doesn't help. Tried to install latest video card drivers and verify the integrity of the game files through steam doesn't help. My specs are amd ryzen 3600x , radeon rx 5700 xt and 16GB 3200mhz RAM.

Hello guys, I installed CSGO from steam a couple days ago. A couple seconds after launching the game, my screen freezes, and then black screen right after, no blue screen. I need to reboot my PC every single time after crash. I was doing perfectly fine with all of my other games (running TW3 in full ultra 1440p for instance, GTA V 1440p full ultra, etc.). This kind of crash->black screen never happened to me before. Now, I can't play any game at all for more than a couple minutes before crashing. Can't still use the pc for web browsing though, only games are not working right now. I'm getting mostly ntoskrnl.exe errors in my recent dumps, I'll link all of that in this message's attachment. Here is my rig : Windows 7 64bit Professional Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H (F10 bios, 2015, latest) Intel i7 4790K (never overclocked it) + Noctua NH-D15 4x4Gb DDR3 (do not remember the exact model but I bought this pack 5 years ago) Gigabyte 2070S RTX WindForce OC 3X 8G (I used to have 2x gigabyte 770, decided to replace them a couple months ago for this 2070S) Samsung SSD 840 EVO (120Gb) boot drive Western Digital WD Blue Desktop 1To SATA 6Gb/s (mass storage) (5 years old) Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 500Gb (game storage) (brand new) (I'm sorry, I do not remember my PSU exact model, it's currently screwed under my case's metal protection, all I can remember is that it's a Corsair 700W modular PSU) I (tried to) run through several diagnostics myself, here's what I've done so far: - checked all drivers, everything is up-to-date. - uninstalled and reinstalled my game launchers and games on my 2 storage disks, still the same result for whatever disk was used. - uninstalled geforce experience, finally (tried my luck). - ran several chkdsk on my disks, no error whatsoever, nothing special ticked my eye. - launched my games for the few minutes, I was able to and checked my CPU / GPU temps, everything fine before crash. - checked my bios for my CPU wattage, everything is set by default and I've never overclocked it anyway. - w7 fully updated. - ran a standard windows memory diagnostic to check on my RAM, nothing to notice. - ran a couple cmd wmic MEMORYCHIP get BankLabel, DeviceLocator, Capacity, informationSpeed in the meantime, everything seemed fine. Hi LTT forum gurus - long time listener, first time caller. Seeking guidance on troubleshooting my MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming GPU randomly crashing. Sometimes within minutes, sometimes I get a few hours. If I start to push the GPU usually within 30-60 seconds a crash occurs. Crashes have only occurred in the past ten days - started early Dec-2019. Really stable for years prior to this. Have made no hardware adjustments or modifications in the last year. PC is still powered on, network continues, sound (MP3) continues, just no video (no audio if from game). On crash GPU still has power and fans are spinning. Have to hard reboot to get the screens back. Depending on crash infrequently EUFI asks to have setting adjusted or Windows 10 boots into recovery. Any guidance and/or assistance is greatly welcomed. Things that I have tried so far: Wound back mild GPU overclock. Upgraded NVIDIA driver to latest 441.66. DDU driver and reloaded latest directly download from NVIDIA site. Memtest PC RAM - no issues. Unigine Heaven benchmark crashed 7/10 benchmark runs. OCCT (v5.4.2) tests: CPU OCCT (large data) over one hour - no issues. CPU Linpack (2019) over one hour - no issues. GPU 3D without error detection - crash within 45 seconds. See image OCCT note temp is 56 degrees Celsius. GPU 3D with error detection - crash within a minute. GPU Memtest one hour - no issues. Thought I'd ask the community what I can try next. N.B. Ambient temp 20-25 degrees Celsius. GPU temps > 60 decrees Celsius. PC Specs: i7 4790K. 16 GB RAM. MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming. Corsair 750W RM750 Gold PSU. Crash scenarios: Just after boot into windows. Surfing the net. Watching YouTube. Solution: turned the PC off using the power button!! * Freezes/Crashes: When starting the game using the rockstar launcher! Fix: Can take 2-3 restarts! When going full screen mode with my VPS, Fix: Can also take 2-3 restarts! Random freezes/crashes! So, are there any solutions, what your advice, I am thinking of returning & replacing it with 2070 or 2080 super?? Thank you. FIX: The problem was with the HDMI cable that came with my BenQ EX2780Q monitor, after I purchased a VESA certified DP 1.4 cable, this issue was gone, thank GOD it was the most annoying issue for me!

Hey there, this question may have been asked before but I am at witts end about this issue. I have had my RX 580 for a bit over a year now and I initially started having issues about 6 months ago. I started seeing blue and green lines on my primary monitor mainly whilst using Discord and once I moved my cursor over the lines they would disappear. This issue seemed to resolve itself and I have not had the same issue since. Now however, while gaming, after about 10 minutes of gaming (The Witcher 2, Titanfall 2, Black Desert Online,) Both screens flicker black and then display No signal (Both at the same time) The GPU then throttles and I am still able to hear in game audio and hear voices while on voice chat etc. I have updated my Graphics driver and monitored temps and there are no issues there as the temps are within normal range. My PSU is an old crappy Chinese one that needs replacing but I have never had an issue like this previously until now. One monitor is using a high quality HDMI cable and the other is using a VGA cable. Not sure what is causing this issue but any suggestions would be helpful!

Started a few days ago my pc will randomly start to slow down and then it will freeze with black screen in both my monitors. Most of the time that I'm using my pc, I'll be playing games, but every time that this happened I was either watching netflix or watching youtube/streams, never happened while gaming. My PC is relatively new, but I'm using a PSU from my old PC (bought in 2016), and a HDD that I had problems with. The problem with the HDD was that sometimes it wouldn't show up as a connected device and when I tried to format it would take a long time and fail occasionally. I use the HDD only to store games and it never crashed while playing, that's why I have it connected to my pc still. Because it happens randomly the only thing that I noticed is that the CPU usage goes to 80-100% before the pc freezes and goes to black screen. I'm guessing that my PSU is dying but I'm not sure, is there a way to test it? My ROG GL553VD goes to a black screen (during boot) after installing Intel HD 630 Driver. This goes away when I go into safe mode and use the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.I have tried these options: Reinstalling Intel HD using DDU and using the driver from the manufacturer's site. Reinstalling Intel HD using DDU and using the driver from intel's site Reinstalling Nvidia GPU. Reinstalling Windows 10 SysInfo.nfo

My whole system is ASUS minus my graphics card... till today. I swapped out my Red Dragon 5700 for ASUS STRIX 5700 and just by doing that Google Chrome now decides it's going to load up completely black; meaning the whole page is black, from menu bar down. I am able to find the actual menu and open it but when I select anything the screen stays black so I cannot see the actual "settings" that should be displayed. What I've already done: Uninstalled AMD graphic drivers Re-installed AMD graphic drivers Uninstalled Google Chrome Re-installed Google Chrome Does anyone have an F'n clue on how to fix this BS!? P.S. I already use Firefox & Brave - however my work requires me to use Chrome so I cannot operate without the crappy thing.

Hello,Made a new PC build 2 weeks ago and I'm having issues from time to time when the GPU Saphire RX 5700 XT just stop giving any signal( i get the black screens with no signal message). After system reboot it works fine. Usually happens in games (many times in APEX legends and have happened in CS GO while alt tabbing). Is this a known issue or i should go to warranty service? Hello Linus Tech Tips, So I have a problem. A few days ago I turned on my pc and started watching youtube videos and my pc just started to black screen randomly.It would make a usb connection and disconnection sound as it black screened and the display came back. I googled the issue and most of the information I came across were mainly concerned with broken and loose HDMI cables. I tried the cable on my PS3 slim and everything was normal. So that wasn't the issue. I reseated everything and no solution. I tried to use the mobo box as a test bench the issues still persisted.At first the screen was just blackscreening randomly and coming back to normal display after a few seconds, but now about 10 days later since the first issue my PC completely freezes , I can't even get to windows desktop, reaching the desktop has become a herculean task and I just reset until I can move my mouse pointer. When my GPU started to show this issue it was only black screening when watching youtube videos or playing video files on my pc not when playing games but now it freezes during gaming as well ( I was playing Nioh and Dirt Rally ). I know that the games are not running when my pc freezes because the game continues at the exact same point when my pc blackscreened.Sometimes my pc freezes so hard that I can't even move my mouse pointer and sometimes I have to reset my pc because It just gets STUCK (I mean nothing goes on), sometimes my pc works fine for a few hours and then the black screen issues pops up and then I reset my pc everything is normal. Today I had an idea I booted into safe mode and played a 1080p movie on my HDD ( It was evil dead 2) no issues whatsoever 0 issues no black screen , no freezes , nothing wrong only normalness everywhere, then I removed only my GPU drivers using DDU and then rebooted into normal windows watched A youtube video and another movie at 1080p ( Army Of Darkness) 0 issues nothing went wrong no problems whatsoever but then the same issues popped up again later as it turns out Windows 10 had automatically installed AMD drivers for my gpu again. I went to device manager and disabled both amd audio drivers and GPU drivers everything went back to normal again I am writing this after I disabled the drivers. Can anyone please help me???, Is my GPU dying ??? I really don't think so I never saw any garbled graphics or screen flashing or any of the associated symptoms I opened up my GPU one of the thermal pads on the memory chips tore away as I opened it and the pad was really stuck on the back plate of my GPU so I feel as if one my the memory chips has failed , could this be the issue??? I have tried everything , changing cables, reseating ,Total clean reinstall of windows 10(Updated) ,latest drivers .If nothing works I will have to use my old R9 270x as a placeholder GPU for a few months as I can't afford a new GPU right now . I will probably have to sell my 5 month old PS4 to get money for a new GPU . Please Help!!! Hi, I'm having an issue with my graphics card where whenever I try to update my RX 480 Radeon drivers past version 17.9.3, my PC boots into a black screen and my monitors stop detecting input. I get past the BIOS screen, but the loading circle freezes at the Windows logo screen and then my screen goes black, my keyboard and mouse lights go off and then it sounds like my PC is trying to take off. To fix this, I have to boot into safe mode and use DDU to uninstall the faulty drivers. I cannot update to the most recent drivers while in safe mode because of a digital signature error. It is important to note that when the newer drivers are being installed, the bar will often freeze at a certain point (varies from 40% to 70%) and then my screen will turn off, before restarting my PC into the same blank screen cycle as I mentioned before. I haven't actually seen the progress bar reach 100% and prompt me to restart my PC, so I feel as though something is inhibiting its ability to install properly and this is what is causing the issue. AMD support have only gotten me to test a bunch of different driver versions, none of which actually work. I have tried installing the new drivers without an internet connection, with Defender turned off and with the Windows Firewall turned off. My BIOS is fully updated, as is Windows. I have also tried to install the drivers on both of my drives to see if it is a problem with one of my drives, but the problem persists. I don't exactly have the means to test my GPU in another system (which AMD support has suggested I try), but I do have my old motherboard and CPU that I can test this with if it could help. Although this is not ideal as it isn't really as powerful as my current CPU. This issue stops me from playing some newer games that I would really like to play, so I would really like some kind of fix that doesn't require me to get a new card or change to NVIDIA just for a working product.Any potential solutions or help would be greatly appreciated. Hi! So a friend of mine has the following problem: He owns a GTX 1050 ti, and the problem is that when he installs the gpu drivers on the fresh installed windows 10, the screen goes black, and it stays so forever, even if he restarts, all is good until it gets to the welcome screen and it goes black again. The thing is that I tried installing on Windows 7, and it has no problems, so I find it weird that it only happens on windows 10 Specs: MOBO: Lenovo motherboard, i don't know the exact model CPU: Intel i3 3240 RAM : 10 GB DDR3 GPU: GTX 1050Ti 4gb Low profile I already tried uninstalling old drivers with DDU, and installing older drivers i'm out of ideas hope you can help me Thanks in advance!

Since last week, Tuesday, October 1st; I've been having problems with my GPU (or possibly something else). Here's what I'm experiencing: It is not possible for me to install any GPU driver, all I can do is use 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'. If I install a GPU driver - either through windows update or directly from the AMD website - my computer will not be able to start windows. It will show the BIOS screen briefly - less than a second - then it will show the windows 7 loading graphic for a while, and then the screen will just go black. The monitor is on and detecting input but no action can be taken. All I can do from there is press the restart button on the front of my PC and use windows startup repair to restore the system to an earlier point. There are some purple and green colored horizontal lines displayed on my screen that seem to be static. These lines are also about the same length and are aligned in columns with space in between. See below for reference (image3). These graphical problems also can be seen in the bios (image1 & image2). Lastly, if I leave my PC idle for 10 minutes, the monitor goes to sleep (which is normal) and loses signal from the GPU. Unplugging the cable and plugging it back in does nothing, nor does plugging into a different monitor with a different cable. If this happens, the only way to solve this is to press the restart button on the front of my PC. However, I can avoid the monitor going to sleep by leaving a video or stream running. Description of Images for Reference: The first image is a picture of my monitor while logged into windows, with the graphical issue being seen in the windows UI on the left side - however the issue cannot be seen on the right side with a white background. The second image is a picture of the right side of my monitor while in the BIOS, some type of graphical issue can be seen in a localized area. The third image is a picture of the left side of my monitor while in the BIOS, the graphical issue isn't seen here. PC Specs: CPU - AMD FX-6300 Six-Core (3.50 GHz) Cooling - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus Motherboard - Asus M5A97 RAM - PNY Optima 2x4 GB & 2x2 GB Dual Channel DDR3 (1333 MHz) = 12 GB GPU - Radeon R7 265 Sapphire Primary Drive- OS & Other media: Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB Secondary Drive - Additional Games: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB PSU - Corsair CX750 Builder Series ATX 80 PLUS Bronze Display - BenQ XL2411 (144Hz) Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (64-bit) So, my question is: What is the problem? I can't seem to figure it out. Is it solely a GPU problem or a combination of other things? I don't have enough experience to figure this out on my own. I've tried everything I could think of and spent days browsing other forums for similar problems and what worked to fix them. P.S. I will update this to provide some additional information, but I figured I would post this to get some feedback.

As titled, just curious as to what it can be. It suddenly and randomly will black screen to no signal, requiring a reset (no set triggers or times etc) Given I'm on an "old" chipset I thought that perhaps my board was giving up or hitting a weird issue with Windows 10 Pro 1903 It's specs are in my signature thing, X79 sabertooth, i7 etc. CPU is set to turbo all cores to 3.9ghz as opposed to the normal single core turbo and the ram is running quad channel 1866mhz XMP. Defaulting these for a long period of time made no difference. Only recent change is the PSU but I get these black screen to no signal issues far less since the swap. It now has a AX860 as opposed to the GS800 before. I thought perhaps the 1070 was playing up driver wise but when it used to do that, it was in the reliability history and that's not happened for months now. The rig has had this issue for easily a year and it became increasingly more common but swapping to a far better psu lessened it’s occurrence. However it’s weird how nothing detects it and upon reboot its a tad slower at getting back on windows (usually the once, when I restart it’s back to the usual) but otherwise it’s fine. It happens randomly, temps are well within spec and I’ve no clue where to begin. Any ideas, suggestions etc would be great. Thanks in advance

Hello, recently I had this issue when my friend was watching a 4k music video on a 1080p monitor. And suddenly, screen turned black and the music just stopped. The computer is still running. I tried removing the dvi cable and plugging it again from both monitor and GPU but nothing worked. While unplugging the cable from the GPU, I felt some heat coming out of the GPU (RX 5700 XT). I restarted my PC from the power button and it ran fine again. I did some stress test for from both cpu and ram for 10 mins, everything worked out nice. I started superposition benchmark ( 1080p extreme ) for a bunch and got a score of 5009 assuming the benchmark ran well. I checked my event viewer and it showed me the amdkmdap error. The error that haunted me that happened with my laptop. I hope it's only a driver issue. My gpu is still young and I hope there is nothing wrong with it. I am using an desktop pc with windows 10 64bit OS. My pc freezes to a black screen with a curser and it's unresponsive after i click the sleep or shutdown mode most of the time. I can only resume by completely powering off and then starting my PC. Can anyone provide with an solutions. Or do i need to reinstall my OS.

Hey all first time poster here, just trying to get as much info as I can because I think I broke the only good pc I’ve had and wanna know what I can do, I’m gonna copy my original reddit post as it was a good explanation. I think I broke my computer Hey everyone, as the title implies I think I broke my desktop. I was upgrading from an i5 4440 to an i7 4790k on my motherboard which is a msi z87 g54. I installed the newest bios for my motherboard, but when I installed everything I was met only with a black screen. So now panicking I install my old cpu back again to try, this time with no fan because I just wanna see if it works. Now the pc still has a black screen with my old cpu in and it stays on for a second before making the turn on sound again. I had to fiddle with it initially when I put my new CPU cooler but I always made sure to ground myself so I don’t think I zapped it. But this is a big deal for me as this is my only pc that I use for all of my games and other media so any help is greatly appreciated

Hello everyone i need some help with me brother's laptop . Its an Asus n551j (specifications: intel core i7 4710HQ ,Ram 8gb DDR3 , nvidia gtx 850m ) . I have a big problem with it . One day the laptop didn't start up correctly when you pressed the start button you saw only the windows logo and after that just a black screen . I reinstalled windows after formating the hdd . windows 10 automatically finds you drivers for almost everything as you know , but when automatically installed drivers for the gpu (gtx 850m) the laptop's screen freezed and i couldn't do a thing cause the mouse and the keyboard didn't respond . i did the whole procces , format install windows 10 , and i installed oldest drivers for the gpu (gtx 850m) but the same thing happened. Could anyone help me please??? for what should i do so the laptop can work properly ?? thank you a lot

Hello LinusTechTips board! I'm in need of help right now. Recently I've been witnessing many problems with my games and they've been crashing many and way too many times and has been quite a damaging part of my SR. My screen would first freeze, then either turn black or a different color, then either have the game crash or the computer altogether.
