So I'm looking to upgrade my desktop from an i5 6600k. Trying to make it a bit more suited for productivity , the lines of streaming, encoding , and light video editing . Other than the marginal fps gain from the 6700k are there any other benefits , or should I get a 5820k?

Hi! I have two questions. One about processor. One about memory. I'm planning to build a PC for video editing and gaming. Processor: Right now I'm looking into buying the Intel Core i7-6700K for my build but I heard that the Intel Core i7-7700K processor is coming out soon (January?). I can wait until January to build my PC - should I wait or just buy the 6700K right now? The 7700K is appealing. The water cooler I plan to get is the Corsair H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler, if that matters. And my motherboard will only support LGA1151. I believe everything is compatible (correct me if I'm wrong). RAM: I have two choices between RAM. One has a higher latency and higher speed and the other has lower latency and lower speed. As you know, the higher the speed the better but the higher the latency the worse. Here comes the dilemma: should I get the higher latency and higher speed memory or the lower latency and lower speed memory? Higher speed; higher latency: Speed - 3000MHz Tested latency - 15-17-17-35 Lower speed; lower latency: Speed - 3466MHz Tested latency - 16-18-18-36 Thanks for the help!

I just picked up a build today and I have been having some issues with it. When I run prime 95, I get an instant black screen. My system does not shut down or blue screen, it just turns black. I have to flip the switch on the PSU to get the system to boot again. EDIT: It is the ram. When i run the RAM at its advertised speed of 3000 MHz the system black screens. When i drop it down to 2133 the system works with no issue. Why is this? the motherboard suposedly can support it. Also, my CPU's turbo boost function does not work properly. The max I get is 4Ghz at about 1.168 V. I thought the 6700k was suppose to have a 4.2 GHz turbo boost. What are your suggestions? EDIT2: I ran memtest and it came back with 142 errors. CPU: I7-6700k Mobo: MSI Z170A M5 RAM: corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3000 GPU: Onboard as my GFX card was DOA.

Here's my latest build including peripherals with a total cost of around $2600+(usd). The parts are more expensive where I'm from so if you build this exact same pc it might not be as expensive. Specs: Intel core i7 6700k(overclocked to 4.6) Corsair H100i v2 Asus strix gtx1080 8gb Asus maximus viii ranger Intel 600p 240gb m.2 ssd Seagate Ironwolf 3tb 7200rpm hdd Corsair red af120 silent edition Nzxt Noctis 430 16gb(2x8) hyper x ddr4 ram Custom red and black extensions D-link n300 pcie wireless adapter Cooler Master v650 Peripherals: Lg 29uc57 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor Corsair Strafe RGB cherry blue Logitech G502 proteus spectrum Corsair mm300 Logitech speakers( forgot the model) Air pressure in the case is neutral with three 120mm intakes from the front, two exhaust from the top(pull from rad) and one exhaust at the back. PSU is facing down.None of the fans were connected to the included hub in the noctis but straight to the mother board for individual control. Future add ons include an rgb strip which has not arrived yet. The ikea malm desk which also has not arrived yet. Looking forward to doing all the cable management when the new desk arrives. The pc name is noctus btw. Once everything is setup, I plan to enter setup wars ??

This is my first time building a pc but I have some experience helping others put them together. The goal is a pc that runs games well at 1440p and cost around 2000 US dollars. I have a parts list put together but had a couple main questions. The List: Intel Core i7-6700K MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4-2400 Memory MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W My main question is if there is any point in getting the 6700k if I plan on using the pc mostly for gaming and some video work. I probably won't be upgrading the cpu for a while so would the 6700k be more future proof? The alternative option is a 6600k which would save me about 100 dollars. The only other thing would be any opinions on the parts I've chosen. Thanks is advance.

Hey everyone! I know this seems like a thread that happens over and over and over, but I think my case might be a little bit different... I purchased an Intel 6700k a while back, disregarding the issues with temperatures spikes people were having, and I think I may have come across a fairly awful unit compared to others. I can't even run most CPU benchmarks without worrying about whether or not my CPU will fry. I've tried everything from air cooled, AIO, and custom loop cooling. Even with my EK custom loop with FOUR total fans on a 240 mm radiator, I'm getting temperatures spikes up to 95 C.. on startup. My average temperatures both under load and idle don't really worry me. They typically sit around 36 C idle, and under "some" load (Battlefield 1, music, and one Chrome tab open), I'll get an average of about 65 C. What worries me is the constant spikes up to 85-95 C. I've checked the thermal application 4 times, I changed out my ENTIRE custom loop, and really ran through the whole shebang on this one. Everything leads right back to the CPU itself. Any other thoughts that might save me a call to Intel customer service? P.S. The following was a look at the Heaven Benchmark, and doesn't show the crazy start-up 95 C spike.

Hey guys, I've just gotten my new Noctua NH-D15s and I've been trying to overclock my CPU to ~ 4.5 - 4.6 GHz. I'm still running stress tests but I think I've managed to clock the CPU to 4.5GHz @ 1.336 Volts (VCore) stable, with the temps not rising above 73 degrees C. I believe the VCore is a little high for Skylake or the 6700k in particular, but I simply can't get lower than that, without crashing. Would you guys consider that a "safe" overclock? Or is 1.336V too much for the CPU for a 24/7 overclock? The info on the web is really vague imo. Thanks

Hi am having a boot issue with my Asus Z170 Delux, the pc screen doesn't even switch on. But if i remove the gpu "Asus Strix GTX1080" power the pc for 30 secs switch the pc off put, the GPU back in it works fine!! Running the latest bios. Ive also tried to clear CMOS, bios flash back, disabled IGPU. Tried a different gpu "GTX580" Q-code error is- A2 IDE Detect Try to plug the drive you want the OS on and your optical drive only, boot from CD drive. any additional drives makes the bios crazy without a OS yet. Tried messing about with the hard drives no luck. The PC is stable one booted, it never crashes.

Sup Internet, So I recently upgraded my 6600k to a 6700k because I was able to find one for a pretty decent price on ebay. The chip works fine, no ccomplaints there, but when I started trying to overclock it I noticed that I seemed to need unusually high votages to get even as high as 4.5 of 4.6Ghz. Specifically, I had it dialed up to 1.4v and one of my workers in P95 would still crash when running at 4.6GHz. I've dialed it back to 4.5GHz at around 1.375, but that still seems really high to me. Lower than that though, I get the same problem where one of my cores craps out after just a few seconds of running. The system is stable otherwise as far as I can tell, but obviously I don't want one of my cores failing in the middle of a project. I'm running a Gigabyte G1 Gaming 3 mobo so there I haven't been able to find any option in the bios to run at a constant voltage, a la Linus' skylake OC guide, so I'm not sure if it defaults to running in adaptive mode or whatnot... Oddly enough, when I tried to OC my 6600k I had the same issue as well, one core would just seemingly crap out and the p95 would kill the associated worker. With that in mind, I'm wondering if I'm just doing something wrong when I tweak the voltage in the BIOS...Any thoughts?

Hey guys. Just yesterday I've received my "new" 6700k. I bought it used from craigslist and the previous owner said, that he never had any problems whatsoever with the CPU. So, I installed it and fired up Windows. Everythings works like a charm. The only exception is, that sometimes when the CPU spikes to a 100% usage, the mouse/screen just keeps locked and unresponsive for 1-3 seconds. I never had that happen with my old 6600k. So my question is, is this normal?? Is this something that can happen or does this automatically mean, that the CPU is faulty? I mean, the System runs just fine for hours without a single freeze or similar and I would think that a faulty CPU would show itself in something like a complete shutdown of the system or bluescreens. The only thing that happend were these short mouse-locks sometimes. Re-installed Windows Newest BIOS version Newest Chipset-Driver Newest Nvidia Driver Temps are fine ~ 70C max GTX1070FE MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Motherboard 16GB DDR4 Ram 750 Watt Corsair PSU So long story short. Is this normal? Can this happen? Am I being overreactive because this hasn't happend before? Does anyone else have the same issue? Cause I'm thinking about returning the CPU but I'm not sure if this is just a common thing and will happen with another CPU also.

Hey! I am looking for a new mini-ITX board, I am currently using a ATX board. The reason behinde this is that i am going to go down to the new NZXT H200i. I do have a 6700k so i would prefer if the board was compatible with my old CPU. I also need 2x usb 2.0 internal headers. So far I am having issues finding an ITX board with 2x usb 2.0 internaly. Does anyone have any recommendation?

Hey guys! I just bought a used 6700k on the German version of craigslist, to replace my 6600k. The CPU arrived today and to test it, I fired up Cinebench and Prime95. I noticed that during the test (in cinebench only right before it finishes) my mouse/the whole system gets stuck for 2-5 seconds. I haven’t noticed the issue when just browsing the internet or similar. I tried it with stock speed and with an underclock to 3.5 GHz. The problem still persists. I just installed the newest chipset driver from my mobo’s website but that didn’t help either. It’s nothing big, but I didn’t have that issue with my “old” i5. Has anyone had similar issues and knows a (possible) fix? System: MSI Z170 Gaming Pro 16GB ddr4 @ 2133 750 Watt Corsair PSU 840 Evo SSD @ 256GB GTX1070 FE @ ~2030Mhz 1x 1440p 144hz monitor 1x 1650x1080 60hz monitor thnaks in advance! :-)

Introduction : So I have been into computer for as long as I can remember. I used to just build my PC with no actual concept or color scheme in mind. I built them pretty much only for the purpose of gaming, what they looked like did not really bothered me. At the beginning of the year I got into watercooling and PC modding. Needless to say I was hooked. I am not super active in LTT therefore most of you might not remember my first attempt at watercooling (that build had no full build log, just an actual end result post) So my s340 Elite as served me well but I need a new challenge, and my wife needs a new PC. Ever since I finished my build I wanted to build something in the ITX form factor. I've been thinking long and hard about what case would be the perfect fit for this project. I was hesitant between the Manta and the Define Nano S. In the end I opted for the Fractal Design case because of the smaller footprint and also because it is oh so well built. Most of my current setup is following me (I am not in need of an upgrade any time soon) and what I swap from my build will be replaced in my wife's build. In my last build I have made my first cable extensions, custom paints, etc. This time around I'll be doing full length PSU cables as I want everything to be super tiddy. TO DO LIST : Making custom cables for the PSU Sleeving the fans and fans extensions Sleeving the front panel connectors Painting the fans rings Wiring LED strips (and sleeving of its cables.) Disassembling the old rig Delidding 6700k & applying liquid pro Sleeving and wiring the pump directly to PSU Washing and prepping watercooling hardware Bending the tubes Filling the loop Photoshoot! Hardware : This build is not some extreme X99/x299 computer. So everything I have is mostly standard gamer setup for 1080-1440p None watercooling HW: Fractal Design Define Nano S Intel Core i7 6700k 16gb G.Skillz Trident Z 3200mhz Asus ROG Strix z270i Gaming Gigabyte GTX 1080 Founder Edition 1TB Western Digital Blue 500gb Kingston SSD 5x Corsair SP120 PWM Performance Silverstone Strider 650w 80+ Gold RioRand RGB LED Strip w/ Controller Watercooling Gear : EK Supremacy EVO Nickel/ Plexi EK GTX 1080 FC Plexi Waterblock and Backplate EK X3 110 Reservoir 2x EK Coolstream SE 240 Radiator 10x EK-HD Fittings 16mm [Black Nicke]l 2x EK-AF 2x45 Dual Rotary Fittings [Black Nickel] 2x EK 6mm Static Extender [Black Nickel] 2x EK-AF Rotary 90 Fittings [Black Nickel] EK Shutoff Valve [Black Nickel] 2x EK Plugs [Black Nickel] EK Plug w/ EK Badge [Black Nickel] EK D5 Plexi Pump Top Liang D5 Vario Pump PrimoChill True Opaque [Candy Purple SX] Coolant EK PETG 16mm Tubings Other Hardware : RockitCool - Rockit88 115- Delid/Relid Tool CoolLaboratory Liquid Pro Permatex Black Silicone RTV 3mm UV/Purple LED 2x5mm UV/Purple LED Paracord Planet Black 550 Paracord Paracord Planet Acid Purple 550 Paracord Paracord Planet Graphite 550 Paracord Paracord Planet Acid Purple 90 Paracord AWG 16 Wire AWG 18 Wire AWG 22 Wire Multiple types of crimps Multiple types of connector Crimper Wire Striper Flush Cutter Soldering Iron Solder Heatgun 12mm Silicone Insert Duplicolor Metalcast Reflective Base Coat Rustoleum Gloss Clear Coat Rustoleum High Gloss Black Enamel #1 PURPLE!!! Sleeving the front I/O, fans extensions, fan cables, swapping the blue LEDs. When I thought about this build I decided that this time I would go with paracord sleeving instead of Teleios sleeves. It is a question of taste I guess but the paracord looks so shiny (especially that Acid Purple I chose). To go with the purple I went with classic black and I ordered some graphite paracord from Ensourced (which I have sadly not yet received) 550 paracord for the PSU cables and I also got some 95 Acid Purple paracord for all the small cable sleeving (YES!!! I will single sleeve every front I/O cables and the fan extensions that will be showed. These where a lot harder than I first expected. I had to cut the connector off so that I could feed the cable through the tiny paracord. But it turned out great! I also removed the cable for the front I/O headphone jack since I do not use them ever. Less cable to cramp into the back of this case. My brother is also 3D printing me some custom cable combs for the small wires, should get those shortly, until then I will not be crimping back new connector until they are ready to be finished. I also removed the front Blue LEDs and order some 2x5x7 Purple/UV LED and a couple regular 3mm Purple/UV LED, will solder them back once they arrive. More to come on that. Figured out where I had to place my fan splitter for all those fans that will be installed soon. then single sleeved the extension that will go to the motherboard. Once again I will be crimping the other side of the connector once I get the cable combs. This is where I am at right now. More to come in the next few days I promise!

Hello there... As I could not find much about the combination of a i7-6700K + a Noctua L9i, due to having both available, I am creating this Thread... So I paired the 6700K with a L9i and did some testing. I am currently testing in open air. This is my setup: Mainboard: Gigabyte Z170X gaming 7 eu CPU: i7-6700K CPU Cooler: Noctua L9i RAM: 1x Kingston 8GB 2133MHz + 1x Kingston 4GB 2133MHz GPU: internal Storage: KingDian S400 120GB PSU: techsolo TP730 Some information about my component choice: - RAM: just some cheap RAM I bought used, because the 8GB RAM didn't arrive after 1 Week, I got a 4GB Stick. The 8GB Stick arrived later, so now I use both. - PSU: had that one lying around - GPU: the Internal GPU will do for testing, on open air even a powerful GPU won't make a difference. - Storage: well, some cheap SSD from amazon - CPU + Mainboard: I have upgraded my main PC to a X299 Platform and now these are collecting dust I let every test run for about 30 minutes, because I think this is enough to saturate souch a small cooler. I tested the CPU with AIDA64 and Intel XTU. Keep in mind, AIDA64 stresses the CPU with 100% on all cores. This is a very unrealistic situation and might never happen in daily use. Intel XTU does not stress the CPU that much and I think it is a more realistic load. Here are my results: 4,0GHz Vcore = 1.35V: - AIDA64: 100°C max, 100°C avg - XTU: 77°C max, 69°C avg - idle: 32°C 3,5GHz Vcore = 1,24V: - AIDA64: 65°C max, 61°C avg - XTU: 59°C max, 54°C avg - idle: 30°C The ambient temperature was consistent 21°C. After seeing the AIDA64 Results, I decided to underclock the CPU to 3.5 just to see, what it would look like. I have been thinking about using these components as a media PC. If you know about a very small ATX Case for that mainboard, you can leave a comment (PSU size, and GPU compatibility doesn't matter, because I plan on using it with the internal GPU) I hope someone can use this information. Update 2017-10-22: I have now installed the System into my deskt and connected it to the TV. It is now in confined space, and I am running one Noctua NF-P14s redux-1200. The air is filtered, and I left all cooling settings at default. There is only a small exhaust in the back and the PSU is set up, to support the Airflow. Cables are not managed yet. I have attached a picture, so you can see, how it is installed. I ran each Stress-Test for about two hours and here are my temps: 3.5GHz Vcore = 1.17V: - AIDA64: 63°C max, 58°C avg - XTU: 60°C max, 54°C avg - idle: 34°C I think I will keep this setup as it is. (after doing some cable management) Update 2017-10-22: Today I reset the clock speed to the default while keeping the lower voltage setting and even going lower. Here are my results: 4.0GHz Vcore = 1.19V: - AIDA64: 69°C max, 64°C avg - XTU: 63°C max, 58°C avg - idle: not measured 4.0GHz Vcore = 1,14V: - AIDA64: 65°C max, 58°C avg - XTU: not tested - idle: not measured I have done no tests on 3.5GHz with the 1.14V setting, but I decided that I will use this setting.

Hi guys, Long time lurker and finally needed help. I recently bought a 1080Ti but didn't realize it was so thick it literally kisses my second card, I was wondering if I can skip the x16_2 slot on Asus Z-170A and use the first and third instead. Right now I have them on x16_1 and x16_2 at x8 each. I was going to contact asus support but i threw out the motherboard box so i don't know the required serial number Thanks

So I don't know what to do, in February, after hearing on even more delays with Ryzen, I decided to finally pull the plug and upgrade. Getting a 6600K (on sale for $180) and a Z270 after being told that intel's Coffee Lake would be compatible. Welp, after Ryzen came out literally 4 days after I got my new chip, I saw the gaming benchmarks and was okay with having a little less performance while streaming and video editing. However, now that Coffee Lake is out, amazing at overclocking, and great in both gaming and streaming/video editing. I don't know what to do, should I just stick with my 6600K and maybe upgrade to a 7700K later on if they come down in price? or try to sell off my current setup for a Z370 and an 8th gen i5 or i7, I only have ~$100 CAD to spend so. I still cannot believe I made such a stupid decision when it came to CPU and motherboard buying.

Hello. So, I've bought parts for a new pc, all was well, but the 7700k i got was both very hot ( 1.240 volts @ 4.7ghz getting to 80 degrees in games , using an AIO watercooler riing 3.0 rgb 240 ) , and a pretty bad overclocker ( couldn't even get it to 4.9 stable without a voltage that would give 100 degrees in cinebench ). Because the website i've used to buy my parts has a 30-day return policy no questions asked , I decided to send it back and hopefully get a better pick , so I stuck my old 6700k in the rig until my new 7700k arrives. Well , bsod after bsod. Either Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal or Driver_overran_stack_buffer . I am running windows 10. I would try not to do a fresh install of windows since i'd have to back up quite some data , but getting a bsod even 5 minutes into a game is bull.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, I've been looking to get a new cooler for my i7 6700k. While my Hyper 212X cooler is doing a fine job, I don't like it hitting 80-83°C whenever I hit it with workload (streaming, gaming & recording all at the same time or rendering videos) so I'm looking for an upgrade. Performance wise I don't need a bump so there will be no overclocking happening. Right now I've been looking into the H115i from Corsair or beQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. Criteria are obviously temperatures, noise and also ease of installation. Any experiences with these coolers? Thoughts? Would appreciate some tips! PS: I've read that the thermal paste under my 6700k's lid is crappy which causes poor heat transfer and could explain wild fluctuation in temperatures of up to 20°C within very short amounts of time. I've observed that on my own 6700k aswell while using typical desktop applications. Any more info on that? Should that influence your cooler choice if you don't wanna de-lid it?

Hello! So lets just say I have a budget of 600 dollars to upgrade this pc. I am gaming on 1080p, so I do not think I need a 1080 or anything. Current specs: *i7- 6700k *GTX 960 mini 2GB *16 GB of 2400 mhz Ram (I have 2 more slots availavle) *2 Terabytes of HDD *120 GB of SSD *Windows 10 *A liquid AIO cooler thats similar to the h50i *Phantom 240 case from NZXT *500W not name brand psu Right now I am thinking of getting a 1070 SC, an EVGA 600B1, and maybe another 8 gigs of ram, 2x4gb. Granted, 16 GB is enough, but I think if I ever sell it it would be good to see 24 gigs of ram instead of 16. Also, should I wait for the 1070ti? Again, I am gaming on 1080p. So I think that a 1060 would do if need be.

First of all thank you for using your valuable time to read this post. So i bought a new sff psu to pursue my dream of building my own mini itx system and its the silverstone st45sf 450W non modular PSU (not exactly the sf450 but i am pretty sure they are very similar if you dont need a modular psu) my setup is listed below; CPU: 6700k (game mode on the mobo on so it runs at 4.4 Ghz with reasonable temps.) MOBO: MSI Z170I Gaming AC RAM : 2x8 GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 MHz GPU : Evga Geforce 1060 SC (small one) Storage : 480GB Sandisk ultra 2 SSD and a 1TB Seagate barracuda 7200 Rpm HDD Cooler : Cooler Master Evo 212 i build the system like 2 days ago and just started playing some Rocket league today , 2 days ago it was on a motherboard box with the st45sf psu and i played almost everything .. made a stress test and all .. today my system is in a bitfenix prodigy (i will swap to node 202 in the near future) but even while playing rocker league which is not that damanding my pc just shuts itself down and turns back up for no reason.. (at random times..) sometimes it just takes a minute , sometimes after 2-3 hours.. so now im worried , i swapped the psu for an 8 year old 620W Cooler master ATX unit and i am doing aida64 + furmark at the same time while writing this post (its been 29 minutes so far but it will be stress tested at least 8 hours while i sleep) after i realized the random resets i tried to do the same with aida64 and furmark and psu started resetting in a matter of minutes (i tried it like 6-7 times and everytime this happened) So what do you guys think ? is the sff450 unit not enough ? or does it have some kind of defect ? i see people running 7700k s and 1070s with sf450 psu s so im leaning more towards the defect probability.. again thanks for reading this hidious post and your possible help !

Hey all, would just like some input regarding using my spare 6700k in a system that's running ESXi with pfsense/freenas and at least a windows and a few linux OS as VMs. I am getting a quad intel gigabit NIC, so ports won't be a problem. Can anyone advise potential problems from having that config? ESXi will be run from a USB drive, with the VMs on an SSD and the NAS storage on 2-4 3.5 HDDs... I will be (hopefully) importing the volumes from my current freenas setup. I will maybe underclock and undervolt the CPU to save some power, but considering this will be potentially taking the place of at least 2 machines, I think it's all good? I will only be using a cryorig c7 as the cooler for now and see how it gets on with noise/performance. This will be a fairly big project for me as I haven't dabled in pfsense before, and I also want to configure it as a VPN server to access the NAS VM from outside the LAN. no time constraints as I already have a NAS + backup NAS and PC etc to use while this is being built and configured. One thing I have consdiered is RAM being too low, will only be using 8GB for now as money is a bit tight right now, big purchases lately. I have considered selling the i7 and buying a g4560, but thought I might be better off keeping the i7 for the 8 threads it has, what do you think?

SO I built this machine, which is almost 2 (!) years old now, and I'm bored of it: CPU: Intel - Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (£284.99 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler (£51.83 @ CCL Computers) Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-Z170-HD3P ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£109.48 @ More Computers) Memory: Kingston - HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory (£119.99 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£131.94 @ Aria PC) Storage: Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£109.99 @ Amazon UK) Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card (£149.99) Case: Corsair - 100R Silent ATX Mid Tower Case (£50.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: be quiet! - 400W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£50.00) Total: £1059.20 I'd like to spend up to £750 (GBP) sprucing it up a little. The only things I'm absolutely set on recycling in this new build is the processor, the memory, & the power supply. I'm basically happy to get rid of the other parts. Parts I was thinking about & would like some advice on: - Most important: Less noise, preferably an inaudible PC. My WD Black 2TB is so unbearably noisy. I want to completely get rid of it & get a Seagate Firecuda or something. Unless anyone has other suggestions? - 2nd most important: New smaller/cube case under 420mm height (if there are any hot new small cases anyone's found lately, please send links!). I like the look of this silverstone case. - New micro/mini ATX mobo to fit in a smaller case. I was thinking of the Asus ROG Strix Z270I gaming mini ITX. Good choice? - Can someone please suggest to me a GPU (1060 or 1070) which is basically fanless/inaudible unless needed for gaming/rendering? (I have a 1080p monitor) So I'm sitting in my room now & while it's pretty quiet, I can really hear the general whirr of the case fans, CPU cooler, GPU cooler & PSU fans. And I don't want to hear any of it. I've worked a lot in recording studios & my reference point is the Mac Pro from many years ago, which, even if you go right up to it, it's still completely inaudible when idle. I'd like to get as close to that as possible. Maybe I sound insane but I basically want a PC which I can neither hear nor see. (as far as that's possible) thanks all
