Hi, I Have a Dell XPS M1530 And When I Play A Game My GPU Is At 100% and CPU Is At About 20% Should I Switch My Dual Core To A Quad Core Or Change My GPU To Get Better Preformance On Games
-
So I have the following issue. My CPU0 occasionally spikes to 100% and stays there, out of nowhere. Rest of the cores are fine and don't spike, but just that one core is at maximum, in idle! There are no high temps or anything like that. Whenever the CPU0 (thread1) is at 100%, the computer stutters, lags like hell and I can't really do much, which is weird because the overall cpu usage is at 20%-30%... I have no idea what's causing this, hence why I'm posting here, maybe someone else experienced this? MY config: i7 4790k (not OC). GTX 970 12GB RAM 1 Intel SSD 180GB 1 Kingston SSD 120GB 1 Seagate HDD 1TB 1 Seagate SSHD 2TB Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER I run a dual monitor config. --- If someone else experienced this and knows how to fix, that'd be great.

Ok so ive been looking for a good quality, slim bezel 1440p monitor for a triple set up. Came across this asus monitor. Its a 32" 1440p with a 10bit color vs 8bit so it has 1.08B colors vs a mere 16.7M http://www.amazon.com/PB328Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B00XI4PAD2 Does anyone have one or know how much better the 10bit color looks? Edit: i do alot of gaming, but mostly mmo stuff. Some fps.

Hi, I just recently got this problem on my computer, my GPU is running very hot and loud on desktop, I looked at MSI Afterburner and the GPU is under full load. This was before the GeForce experience Windows 10 update. I updated and I was fine for exactly 24 hours and than the problem surfaced again. I checked Anti Malvare and nothing, I manually checked for suspicious background activities, nothing, and searched for bit mining virus manually, nothing. What Should I do?

Hi guys, I'm using a system with an Intel Celeron CPU at 3.06GHz. I'm pretty sure the answer is "there is nothing to be done but upgrade hardware", but I thought I'd ask anyway. Basically, if I open anything, at all, CPU usage jumps to 100%. I'm imagining this is a single core system. I've checked other things (RAM, HDD) and they aren't the problem. Are there ways to unburden the CPU enough such that the experience in using this system isn't so slow? I would install Linux or something more lightweight, but proprietary software requires Windows and it's a work computer.

Hey guys so recently my computer was running really slowly and the disk and memory were both running at 100% most of the time. I scanned and I removed a trojan virus but now the disk and memory are still at very high levels and the top thing on task manager seems to be "System". My computer is not running nearly as slow as when it had the virus but its definitely slower than usual. Any help would be appreciated. Screenshot of Task manager is attached. Thanks

Hey My Western Digital Green 1TB is often running at 90-100%. 1st: Is this normal and what causes it? 2nd: If not normal, what can I do to stop it and does this damage the Hard Drive? 3rd: Would purchasing an SSD and transfering some of the HDD files to it help? Thanks!

Hello, today I pulled out my Acer Aspire V3-771G 17" Notebook to clean it up a bit as it has been pretty damn slow recently. And then I noticed that the TaskManager is reporting a 100% usage 24/7 even though it shouldn't be working to capacity with like 10mb/s in total. Pic: Do you know what is causing this? Thanks

So I have had this computer for years and theres been no problem. I use it for multiple hours every day however I have just got back from a week's holiday and booted her up for the first time and the boot drive is locked at 100% usage most of the time? If I close all programs and leave it for a few minutes, the hard drive usage will jump from normal usage (<10%) back up to 100% constantly as shown: This is making the computer take ages to boot - up to 10 minutes - and makes games unplayable. The computer has been off the entire time so nothing has been newly installed or anything like that. Any ideas or solutions?

Hey guys, I'm having a problem with the H220X. The fans on the watercooler are making a lot of noise because they are (I think) running at 100% capacity. I already tried to replace the fans with corsair sp120, it didnt really matter. Also, I went to the support page of the swiftech website, and one of the Q and A's was: All the devices connected to my PWM splitter work at 100% but I cannot vary their speed. A: Check that the splitter mini-4 pin PWM signal cable is correctly connected to the CPU_Fan connector of the motherboard Enable Manual Fan Control in the motherboard BIOS I thought, hey I have the same problem. So I checked the cables for any incorrectly connections and there was nothing wrong with it. So I thought, everything is alright with the cables so lets check the Bios. I have an ASUS Rog ranger btw. I tried to manually change the cpu fan curve, the only problem is that it doesnt go lower then 85%. I already changed the option from silent to full speed, but there was no difference in temp and noise. So I guess I need to do it manually but I cant get lower then 85%. Does somebody have a solution? thanks in advance.

My 4670k was running on the stock intel cooler with no issues as of 2 days ago. I booted up RUST for the first time in about a year ( http://playrust.com/ ) on steam and cranked a few graphics settings. I noticed it was extremely jumpy and laggy so I checked my CPU temps. All 4 cores were maxed at 100% and around 100 degrees celsius with the fan at 100% speed. Needless to say I shut down the game ASAP and ended all other processes. The CPU remained at 100% load however. I let it try to cool down for about 3 minutes but during that time neither the fan speed/cpu load/cpu temps changed. I had to just shut down the PC manually. I checked my heatsink and it was slightly dusty and the thermal paste was kinda dried out. Yesterday I went and bought a coolermaster hyper 103 and installed it with fresh thermal paste. The computer was running cool at around 55-60 degrees under world of warcraft and google chrome load for about 20 minutes. I booted up rust once again, it was running MUCH smoother for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes it ran up to 100% load, 100 degrees and wouldn't cool down despite shutting it and everything else down from processes. Does anyone know what the heck is going on with my CPU?? I figure its one of two things RUST might have some process that takes all my CPU (its in alpha) My CPU is dead (Pls no.. im broke) CPU: 4670k GPU: R9 270x RAM: HyperX Grey 1600

So I have not been using my system a lot lately so I decided to start running Folding@Home on my PC. I have it running almost 24H a day most of the days. The Folding@Home client uses between 70 and 80 percent of my CPU. Whenever I start running whatever other program my system goes up to 95ish percent. Is it really that dangerous? I know is by no means ideal but is it so bad that I should stop this immediately or is it ok? My system is an i3 4150 so it is not a high powered CPU running extremely hot but I am kind of worried since I am using the stock cooler and the max temp is about 71 degrees Celcius (when I am using my PC for something else and my CPU is running at 98% load, so it is not all the time running at such high tempertures) and when the PC is only running Folding@Home the temps decrease a bit.

I feel like this is a long shot given how bad my computer is at this point, but I'm willing to share my experience with the off chance that somebody has an idea to help fix my problem and squeeze a little more life out of this dinosaur. First, here's my back-and-forth conversation I had with AMD: Here's my idle temps: The most aggravating part of this interaction was when the AMD rep essentially said I would experience the same issue with new hardware, which is ridiculous. Yes, I realize the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ is ancient, but I feel like my system actually ran better before I upgraded from the AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego. Aside from a full reformat or rebuild, I have tried just about everything else including updating my GPU drivers. I think it's unreasonable to dump any more money into this thing, so if anyone has any tips that doesn't involve spending money, then I am all ears.

Hi, I am currently having a problem with my system, I'm using an HD 5870 (OLD ) and a AcBel CE2 500 PSU. The problem is my system hangs, displays goes black, and the GPU Fans started spinning at 100%. When I remove the Graphics Card, and just use my IGP the problem isn't occurring. I tested the 2 6Pin PCI-e Cable using a multimeter, and while the card is inserted. System is Working (Display is ON, Everything is functional) - PCI-e Cable # 1 - 11.57V - PCI-e Cable # 2 - 10.8 V System is unresponsive (Problem Occured, No Display, Fans at 100%) - PCI-e Cable # 1 - 11.73V - PCI-e Cable # 2 - 11.72V Below is my PSU Specs: and Here is my System Specs: CPU: i3 2120 @ 3.3GHz GPU: HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-B75M-HD3 RAM: 4 GB Kingston LP 1333MHz DDR3 PSU: Acbel CE2 500 HDD: 1x 500GB WD Caviar Blue Cooler: Corsair H60 Fans: 4x 120mm Fractal Fans Do you think it is a PSU or a GPU problem? BTW, I'm planning to upgrade but not so soon. That's why I wanna pinpoint the cause Thank You!

So I have a MSI 290x Lightning and I have noticed my GPU usage is at 100% constant when playing games like Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, Arma 3. I wanted to know if 100% Usage will degrade the card or not with the temps under control. I've searched online for an answer but people say its good or bad. Can someone give me a clear answer as this has been bothering me since I've put together my new system. BTW I have a 4670k @ 4.5GHz if that tells you anything. EDIT: Its only during gaming. During Idle its 0-1%. EDIT 2: During the Tomb Raider benchmark I get an average of 84 FPS. So I limited the FPS using MSI Afterburner to 60 and the usage is still at 100%.

I've just bought an ASUS ROG G750JX Laptop that comes with Windows 8. I have a problem where my Disk Usage goes to 100% even with little use, causing the laptop to be slow. It doesn't crash though. I thought by updating to Windows 8.1 will fix it but it didn't. I have tried many ways from changing my Virtual Memory to disabling Windows Search and SuperFetch. My Laptop comes with only 750GB HDD. There isn't any SSD installed. It has 8GB RAM too. I hope you guys can help me. Thanks
