  1. Do they not see a future with AMD because RDNA3 under delivered, and big RDNA4 got canned? Im sure the sales for AMD this gen was mostly people buying up all of RDNA2 due to how amazing of a value those cards still are. While both ADA and RDNA3 both underdelivered heavily in terms of sales verses the what was hoped for them, That had to have hit AMD proportionally harder.
  2. so are you talking about video transcode then? Cause that is different then just decode.
  3. because the IPC of that processor is so low Thats a 4 core piledriver without l3 cache. at that clock speed it will be memory bottlenecking stalling a lot of those clocks. And 4 cores in the bulldozer line is 4 cores (im sorry, it is, i know people want to argue its not) but its only has two front ends (hence why people argue its not). bulldozer pick, no one cared about getting pictures of later generations of it Basicly it bottlenecks itself in getting data unless you can have your program stay inside the 4MB l2 And even when it can get that, anything with floating point it will only act like one core. So almost anything AI related(which would be bigger then 2MB anyways), even when doing FP8/16 (which the processesor can not natively handle) Here if you want to know more about piledriver https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulldozer_(microarchitecture)#Bulldozer_core Notice how one core can only dwo two ALU and two AGU opperations per clock per core A single Zen 2 core can do 4 ALU + 3 AGU per clock per core, and a far more robust front end to prevent bubbles in the pipeline with better branch prediction
  4. your bios will not support it in any way. And again, the issue with a faster processor is yes, the chipset/socket would support an i7 3770 which would be 5-10% faster, however, your bios will NOT support it. Dell is known for this lack of support, and were even worse about it back then. This is the most recent bios for your motherboard https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=r318123&oscode=w764&productcode=xps-8300
  5. I to am confused as to what OP is asking. is an APU/intel quick sync not able to do what you want?
  6. that looks awful, but its just 5 pads you can solder another usb header to, and the two pads that look ripped out have the trace right there you can solder to elsewhere no? No need for a replacement PCB
  7. Thats not how warranties work. thats not how a company survives for two decades.
  8. You think you do, but you don't. But also, you are using pro, you already can delay indefinitely
  9. How is every take in this wrong? that's almost impressive.
  10. Zero people are shamed for trying to make ends meet Systemic change is what is necessary, individual jets are an issue sure, by the tiniest of tiny issues. The issue is more optics then anything, but its not that hard to look past an optics issue when you have all this data that they are giving to people and trying to get systemic changes into place. Those flights are .00001% of flight emissions, and being used with a goal of lowing systemic output. It is ONLY a gotcha moment if you are being intentionally obtuse/disingenuous/argue in bad faith. Not going to argue against a persons carbon foot print mattering... it does, but it also just very much does NOT mater without significant systemic policy shifts. A person's individual carbon foot print is a fight that does not mater at this scale of multiple billions of people. which they find to be real in a later episode, because it always was real
  11. I have been exceptionally happy with the 3060 12GB at 1440p, but I would feel weird buying that today. The 6700XT is probably a much better value for the use case now.
  12. Lately I have found gaming boards to be the ones meet my requirements, not because of gaming but for whatever reason they have started to brand half their line up gaming. Having or not having wifi to me is inconsequential, having it doesnt make a board worse. When was the last time anyone has used a driver disk? even 15 years ago they were always woefully out of date and you were better off going to the website. honestly, unfortunately there are a LOT of boards that came out in the last year on B650 that have unacceptably bad VRM set ups, that all cost over 120USD, which is crazy to me. it should not be possible to buy a mobo for 130 usd and find out it thermal throttles when providing 130W, but somehow, here we are. I thought we had gotten past the point of having to worry a significant amount about that other then on low end boards, but I guess not.
  13. yes there is is research about those cycles. No, not a single one of those disputes the current climate crisis. and all that research is valid. HOWEVER The papers on global warming have been solid and have been solid and consistent since the 70s. There have been no papers that dispute the facts that has been peer reviewed. No this is not a Dogma issue, no this is not a p-hacking issue, no this is not a reproducibility issue. There is no problem with the quality of the papers on global warming. We are not past the point of minimizing damage, because that point even in a hundred years, is always NOW. The consensus has always been strong on this point. The best time to plant a tree was yesterday, the second best time is today. This is the mentality you need to have, yes yesterday was a better time to address the issue, that does not, and has never meant you don't address it today, the second best time.
  14. *cough* no we didnt. If you mean back to pre industrial age, no, and that isn't the goal of anyone. Limiting 1.5C (long term) yes, that is 100000% possible, with OUT lowering peoples quality of life. Just because 1C isnt possible doesnt mean let it ride, doomerism has no place.
  15. They were ancient Egyptian farmers. What the hell are we even talking about here? I feel like someone lost the plot.
