Considering that none of them make their own stuff and that they only crossover at certain points it seems a waste of time to try to get some sort of consensus. You would be better to compare return policies and product uipdates per company instead. How about bang-for-the-buck per market? Greatest availability?

Is this tomshardware user correct?

And the other thing is that you'll get better boards with more features with the Intel that you where proposing. AMD's chipsets are ancient. Until the AM4 series boards come out they are a poor choice. -
I have two ssd's and I think it was a mistake. If I was to do it again I'd just go with one larger drive. As for the performance, it's been proven that the performance of a good quality drive is far in excess of what you'll ever will see. If it is a real concern, look at the enterprise ssd's instead of the consumer level. You'll pay for that, though.

This is an ATNG based unit. If it was a car, it'd be a Kia. Ok but there's way better out there.

Anyone know how to spin a blade fast enough using hand power?
Dimwitted replied to SeanAngelo's topic in Off Topic
You need a transmission box to do the ratios. Go the Barnacles Nerdgasm's site where he has a couple of projects similar to this that he printed. The MakerBot forums have quite a few similar projects. -
On top of that, the Magic software doesn't like raid so you will lose the advantages of your EVO.

The excellent alternative would be the EVGA 650W G2. An extra 3 bob. Yeah, you're giving up 100W but it won't affect your system unless you're going to crossfire and even the 750W might be light on that.

The i3 is only two cores. Look up what games are now looking for 4 cores and be aware that that is going to only get worse as it ages. I'd stick with a 4 core cpu.

It's an ok unit. The supplier is CWT, the same people that Corsair uses for their basic units. If that EVGA unit is available with anywhere near the same price range it's a far better unit. It's also fully modular, not semi like the CoolerMaster if that's important. I would look at Corsair as well.

Help choosing a new PSU for a budget build
Dimwitted replied to burnttoastnice's topic in Troubleshooting
Look at XFX as well. They frequently have sales and they are all Seasonic based units. I would also consider Corsair's CX line. Purely on a bang for the buck basis. Your collection of parts is not the high end so spending a ton on a great psu doesn't make a lot of sense. -
One of the big things is what is going to happen to the files? First gen can be fine but endless copying and reencoding hammers the quality. FLAC is excellent for archiving purposes. Then you get your MP3's. Starting out with a lossly format, even a very good one is just asking for trouble.

Your 128 is a slow drive. So, if you went with a faster ssd and just switched them, yes things would get faster. OTOH, by how much? That's really tricky and you've already seen most of the gains by switching to an ssd in the first place over an hdd. Will you see gains by switching to two ssd's over your hdd? A little, not worth the loss of space. What is on your hdd (should be) is not that speed sensitive. All the executables should be on the ssd and everything else on the hdd.

Problems with both brand new motherboard and PSU, need help.
Dimwitted replied to Profoundsoup's topic in Troubleshooting
Don't bother. EVGA gives you a bypass. Look in your cable bag. It's in there. -
Black & Orange is the best! Get an EVGA psu, either the G or P series and you can get cables that will go with whatever you want in colour scheme, either from EVGA or Cablemod. As for a board, the only orange ones are the Gigabyte SoC boards. And they're made specifically for OCing. Probably the best OC board out there. For RAM do go with the Corsair Dom Plats and just remove and paint the tops. Very easy and it should look great if you take your time. Here's mine... I hope. Nope. Can't post a pix.

How do I watch Blurays on my 21:9 3440x1440 monitor fullscreen?
Dimwitted replied to RR--'s topic in Troubleshooting
You should be able to right click and go full screen. Also, there should be an icon down near the right of the screen to do the same thing, I think. That said... will you get rid of the letterboxing? Not likely. Your 21:9 will give you the largest screen size per rez that there is but it won't stop the black bars. Why? Because it's up to the *movie* aspect ratio. There are only a very few movies that use the complete screen, something like Lawrence of Arabia. All the rest are all over the place. You will generally fit vertically and have the horizontal go out. Yes, you can get it stretched which a lot of TVs do, but it looks crappy. -
Raid 0 is a kludge for slow drives. Ssd's are not slow. And even better, the larger the drive the faster it is. There's no advantage to Raiding.

As I said, stick with Be Quiet! Not only are they a good unit but your support options are much stronger with them over probably anyone else in Europe. With the RAM issue, 3000 or 3200 is pretty aggressive for DDR4. That fast is usually a particular kit beyond the standard versions for sale. Look at the Corsair Platinum DDR4. It's even a unique colour. So it's probably your RAM choice and not the board. Maybe. Keep experimenting before you return it. Overall, even with DDR4, there really isn't a huge upside to ocing RAM. Stable is far more important than a couple of mHz.
-
From your build list I see that you must be from Europe. In that case... Instead of the usual advice of looking at the EVGA units, stick with the Be Quiet! 11. It's a FSP based unit, semi modular but it's Platinum, it has some very nice features and should be a better unit than the plain RM's from Corsair. I don't know about the RAM. The Dark Rock 3 is a great unit. Once installed it will perform for quite a while and looks great and is totally silent. Highly recommended! Just check your clearances, especially with tall RAM and with the DR Pro 3. It's big!

Bought a tier 3 psu, does it matter compared to tier 1?
Dimwitted replied to a topic in Power Supplies
Yeah. The RM ain't bad but it's no G2 either. Can you sell it for close to what you paid and get the G2? Otherwise try to return it. Have you opened the box? If it's still sealed it's a much easier process. If you've opened it, I doubt that they'll take it back without an RMA. -
If your backup is solid (check it first!) then erase the hdd and put your data on it. Realise that your apps will have to be reinstalled because you have a different registry now and they ain't in it.

Scrapyard Wars Season 3 - With Scrappy Guest Austin Evans!
Dimwitted replied to LinusTech's topic in LTT Releases
Let's get some feedback... if you were to do this with the guys, what would you consider? Z97 platform? X99? X79? Z77? Would you buy a new m/bd? PSU? Why not a Pentium that you OC the crap out of? Can new AMD beat old Intel? Thoughts. -
Basically, yes, but I wouldn't erase anything on the hdd until the ssd is up, running and is solid. When you are installing O/S unplug the hdd and just have the ssd available. Less stress and all around fuckery from MS.
