  1. FYI tried this, unfortunately the same issues are still occurring. Given that this behaviour is generally surrounding specific applications, just going to do a clean Windows install. If that fails, time for an upgrade I guess.
  2. Okay sure, I can try setting it to 3.0 and see if that improves the stability, thank you
  3. My MicroATX case means that I physically cannot try putting my GPU into another slot. However, my GPU is definitely in the PCIe 4.0 slot.
  4. I've logged and monitored GPU temperatures and it's generally fine, nothing to write home about. I believe it just just about barely under warranty although it's yet to be seen how helpful Gigabyte will be on that front. But yes, it's hard to decipher what is related to what at this point, but the symptoms are too severe to ignore.
  5. Since this install is only a few months old, and I've not had any concrete answers yet, I'll see if I can ask a friend to borrow an old GPU. If that doesn't fix it, then I'll do a clean install.
  6. Usually those artefacts are when I have had to force shut down my system due to the DWM.exe crash, or other weird behaviours, then the Gigabyte BIOS logo has some weird boxes on it or blue dotted lines. I've had this GPU only about 2 years, not been mining or anything either.
  7. I upgraded, however the issues existed long before the upgrade. I upgraded only yesterday to see if this would somehow magically fix this, after months of these issues. Edit: My Windows install is only 4 months old.
  8. Sometimes there is a BIOS setting for determining RGB power when turned off.
  9. I feel as though these symptoms are either Software or a faulty GPU but I really have no clue? Symptoms: Java applications/games will exit due to a random JVM crash - mainly JVM container for OldSchool RuneScape. Once every month for a day, my PC will just freeze every few hours on that day, for 5 seconds. DWM.exe will stop working randomly while playing Overwatch randomly, both my monitors go black, I can hear people on Discord but can't respond or do anything about it. According to event viewer, DWM.exe tries to restart over and over but keeps failing, I've let it try up to 8 times. Rare, but sometimes I am getting minor visual artifacts, usually on the BIOS screen and then this goes away once I am in Windows. Strange monitor behaviours, plugged in a controller and my main display refused to work on 240Hz, only worked on 144Hz and below until I rebooted. What I have tried: Swapping the power connectors to my GPU. Reseating my GPU. Cleaned out PC. Doing a DDU with new drivers. Upgrading to Windows 11, then doing another DDU with new drivers. Memtest86, came back fine. Uninstalled any applications using NVENC/RTX cores in the background such as GeForce Experience and Broadcast. Changed my performance mode to max performance in NVIDIA settings. Updated BIOS version. Ran several virus scans and checked for demanding background processes. Stress tests such as FurMark running for 20mins have no issues, no crashes. System specification: Ryzen 5600X 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gigabyte B550M DS3H Windows 11 Home (was Windows 10).
  10. Hello LTT staff! Extremely unique and hardware-related idea: Creating (maybe via collaboration) the world's first solid silver heatsink. Why? Because silver has the single highest thermal conductivity of any metal. The reason it is not used for consumer applications is obviously cost. You could even simply just (as you have before) make your own CPU blocks, where one is copper and the other is silver. Using a rare metal like the solid gold Xbox controller, except you actually gain performance! If you'd like to contact me about this idea further my Discord is Satan.exe#5214 Thanks!
  11. I have the ASUS FX504GM-EN151T. Here's a summary of the specs: Intel Core i5-8300H 8 GB RAM 1 TB HDD 256 GB SSD Nvidia GTX1060 6 GB However, when trying to play even the most simple games, I get extremely poor framerates. I get ~160fps with common spikes on CSGO on minimum settings. I get ~80-90fps with fairly bad 1% lows (haven't measured, but it feels like 30fps) even on MINECRAFT. On Overwatch, my average framerate is around 75fps on lowest possible settings (still 1080p though), and feels even laggier with constant stuttering. I've undervolted my CPU and turned off the TDP limit using Throttlestop, but it still says I'm PL2 EDP Other throttling. I've also updated the BIOS firmware. Has anyone got any advice? At this point I'm extremely close to just selling the laptop and buying a lower spec one that will perform BETTER.
  12. I have an I7 5820K (X99) with an H100i trying to overclock it to around 4.4GHz at around 1.325V (unlucky chip). However, at this clock, my package temperatures reach up to around 84 degrees Celcius in stress tests, whereas the cores stay at around 72 degrees. Should I be worried / what can I do?
  13. Already answered this, fresh install and fresh install media.
  14. No thanks, didn't mention it but the reason I even installed this new version with a freshly formatted drive is because I had this issue with my previous install of W10 too.
