Also all you really need to take HDRs is a camera in which you can modify the exposure. Then just take three or five separate pictures with ranging exposure (on a tripod of course) and put them together in software. 
 
(edit) Oh and also just to have less text only posts here's an example taken with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 and edited with Luminance HDR. The effect in this one is quite unnecessarily wild and you can make it tamer if you want.

I've recently decided to start doing photography as a bit of a more serious hobby. I bought a new lens and camera bag and am planning on getting Photoshop Lightroom 6 once it's released(come on Adobe, what's taking so long).

No you're wrong this guy is awesome. You should see his other videos. This channel is a total troll channel I'm pretty sure it says so in the channel description. He sometimes also reads hatemail from people the videos have fooled and are enraged. He also has a real tech channel called thiojoetech. I've been subscribed to him for months.

I'm not making this up at all, you can check for yourself and see the radiation level statistics not just from the Japanese government, but from anti-nuclear organizations such as greenpeace.
