  1. RTX broadcast should eliminate the reflections of the glasses of Jen-Hsun Juang And the 3090 is a beast. 3070 willbe a very popular card...and I don't like the center position of the new 12 pin connector.
  2. Oh I understand...imho Windows search on indexed folders (Like the user folder) isn't that bad. Just the start menu search is terrible (and search on unindexed folders takes long). And it doesn't integrate with anything of explorer, and who in the world uses Cortana? Btw you can just use the search button to use the old search (this doesn't change), and you can keep using Cortana.
  3. Because classic shell / open shell shows in the start menu search relevant results, Windows search shows stupid things. It starts with the fact that open shell shows 30 results or so, windows search 2. Also more relevant results show up, and they get sorted nicely (into programs and documents) If you want to stick with the Windows 10 start menu, you also can by using shift+win for 1 of the two menus (and use open shell only for searches).
  4. Hello, I'm tired of hearing Linus and Luke complain about the Windows search in WAN show...and would like them to try Open Shell. For those who don't know, Open Shell is an alternative start menu for Windows 7/8/8.1/10. It also has (imho) a much better search engine built in (which uses Windows indexing, but just much better). It's also fully customizable. It can be downloaded here: https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu/releases For helping to convince them...I made a LTT Start button! Feel free to improve it with smoother animations or higher resolution svgs to start with (I started from some png file) or other colours, also for Luke a floatplane button would be nice (if someone has a nice svg of it please send or link it, I can make the button then). Here you can see it in action: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9hecc23f49bs8at/2020-01-18 10-41-11.mkv?dl=0 Just download the PNG at the bottom of the post, go to the Open Shell settings and under the tab Start Button, select replace start button. Under Custom Button->button image you can select the PNG. btw you also can install open shell and just use the normal Win10 startmenu except for the button Kind regards, Clemens
  5. And also...it depends on the game and or application, the resolution, etc... And at some point there is always something bottlenecking the other thing. In fact is easy: are you happy with the current results? If not compare your scores with benchmarks on the internet with the same GPU, app and resolution...if your result is signifcantly less you can assume a CPU upgrade would probably help. (Oh and if you are happy with the current framerates then just don't worry be happy, even if there is a CPU bottleneck)
  6. According to the rumours the line up will be: RTX for 2070 and higher, GTX for 2060 and lower But it are just rumours...
  7. Also it isn't known yet if raytracing is more a gimmick or actually a nice feature...
  8. I would say...just go for a B450, similar prices (maybe slightly more expensive) but there you surely don't need a bios upgrade... https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=b450&ignorear=0&N=100007625&isNodeId=1
  9. Depends how much data you need for both OS. You could do 2 partitions on the SSD and two on the HDD, and separate them how you like (e.g. for a 500gb SSD 400GB + 100 GB). Or you could buy two different SDDs and use one for WIndows and one for Linux...you are completely free in that. But I would install both OS on an SSD (one with two partitions or two, as you like it) Partitioning you can do during installation of WIndows or Linux. Installing Windows first is probably easier, GRUB will detect this and give you a nice bootmenu, otherwise you need to reconfigure GRUB after installing Windows.
  10. I recommend the Seasonic Focus Plus Gold...is cheaper then the RM550X (at least where I live) but quasi as good. Parts look fine, but please do yourself a favour and chose a SSD as boot drive.
  11. NMVe won't work... So you can choose between Sata or a PCIe AHCI drive like e.g. the Samsung SM961 (attention there is also a NVMe version of this) But I would just go for a sata drive, it's already so much better then the HDD and you probably wouldn't notice any real world difference between Sata and PCIe + NVMe if youhaven't special workloads... So I would go for an SSD with as much as capacity you can afford/you need, and also maybe look for 5 year warranty (I needed this 5 year warranty on SSD already twice, once Samsung once OCZ, both died after ca. 4 years). Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 Evo would be my choice, and prices are currently pretty good.
  12. Caselabs -> very sad news... http://www.caselabs-store.com/
  13. Where is soundcloud? On the road and I'm limited on my data...
  14. bad conclusions of him...(if there was a conclusion, as I suppose the conclusion was the own 10 core performs much better then the original B version) His Mac is not faster I think because of the base clock, but probably just because it turbos higher because of improved thermal paste...I don't think the CPU switch did that much...(compared to his friends 10 core CPU)
  15. For such an expensive PC I would go for a slightly more efficient power supply, e.g. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/KmgzK8/seasonic-focus-gold-550w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-550fm or even https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/3zNypg/corsair-power-supply-cp9020090na For the gaming on which resolution would this be and can you give some example games he want to play? The rest looks fine
  16. I would go for a 960 4gb (second hand) our a 1050Ti...(those are about the same perfomance, have a 960 4gb myself is fine for most games at 1080p) Here in europe 1050Ti start at 175€, is a fair price to me, ok second hand you have better deals of course. 1030 is a bad gaming card, then I would rather go for the AMD APUs. 1050 would be ok choice if budget is very limited.
  17. I don't know why but I like the blue color... I wonder what the price will be (and the maybe updated price of original Vive)...but even this is somewhat affordable...you you will need a beast of a machine to power all the pixels.
  18. Meanwhile there are also Optane SSDs: e.g. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167440 And it's bootable in this way (but you need Kaby Lake / Coffe Lake + Z270/370 Mainboard) And it's expensive. I would just buy a Sata SSD (2.5/M.2 you can chose): more GB for the buck, and you normally don't feel a difference with the faster NVMe drives. Also because the random read/write performance of NVMe drives is not that far of in comparison to Sata SSDs (that's where Optane scores, but Optane is way to expensive in my opinion to be used in a build, except if you are a enthousiast who just wants to have the best)
  19. Still an iGPU...time for an upgrade...but what? (RX 470 / 480 / gtx 950 / gtx 960 / gtx 1060 ?) Winning this card (which obviously won't happen, common what is the chance?) would make my choice easier
  20. Nice Projector...nice how projectors now can project on a big screen without being far away. Good luck everybody!
  21. What I really like about the phone is the Gorilla Glass. I know many phones have it, not just the HTC One M8. But Gorilla Glass ist just great, because it enables my lovely cat to use it, without making scratches! (actually she just like scratching lcd's, i have to pay attention she don't discover my pc screen, my smartphone screen she dicovered already, but thanks to the Gorilla Glass it doesn't matter!)
