KenjiS9965 got a reaction from NotABigGamer in Inari Mk1 Kai, R9 3900X + 3080 Build
My eVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 just arrived so I'm eager to show my rig off Technically its been up and running since last year when I started the build, I've just been waiting for a worthy upgrade to my 1080 Ti since then, and well, I finally have it
Specs:
Corsair Crystal 680X
eVGA 1000watt T2 PSU w/ CableMod Modmesh sleeved cables in white
Corsair H115i Platinum
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master
AMD Ryzen 3900X
32gb Corsair Dominator RGB Platinum DDR4-3600 CL16
eVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra
2x Corsair MP510 960gb NVMe SSDs
1x Samsung 860 Evo 1tb M.2 SATA SSD
2x Toshiba 5tb 7200rpm HDDs
On the desk:
Acer Predator X27 4k 144hz HDR1000 Monitor
Razer Huntsman Elite
Razer Mamba Hyperflux
Schiit Vali 2 Tube Amp
Phillips Fidelio X2 + Sennheiser PC37x
Razer Base Station Chroma
Saitek X52 Pro Joystick (Thats the not-themed Green lights you see)
I have yet to bench it with the 3080, but when I was running my 1080Ti I managed a Time Spy score of 10,633 with 10,308 Graphics/12,948 Physics
https://www.3dmark.com/spy/14168762
Only slight issues I have with it are the fact i had to buy a Phanteks 8-pin white sleeved extension that doesnt match the Cablemods ones for the 3080, I swear I had bought an extra 8 pin last year but apparently I did not and they were completely out of stock at the moment Its not super obvious with it on at least, its actually more obvious it uses a clear comb versus a black one, I will likely swap that out with a proper cable mod cable when I can... Beyond that cable managing the joystick is a pain in the you know what.
The lights are set to rotate purple on the outside, static blue on the inside, the GPU alternates between purple and blue thus the photos looking different. The headphone stand looks rediculously bright in the photos, its not in reality
The darker photos are closer to how the room is usually kept

KenjiS9965 got a reaction from LH747 in i7-4790k with rtx 3080 for 4k 60?
I'd probably start looking into upgrading my CPU and doing a new build with a better PSU if I were you...
Like, IMHO when it comes to the 3080, if you're not running at the minimum AMD 2000-series or Intel 8th gen its time to upgrade that first, even at 4k thats just getting very long in the tooth. Also when it comes to PSU I'd definitely not try it on a 650W, especially not a 3 year old one
-edit- and I see you said BFV and I can tell you that was one game that smoothed out considerably when I moved from my OC'd 6700k to my 3900X (not that you need to go that far lol) Games that take advantage and benefit from >4 cores are getting way more common and with the new consoles about to drop I definitely see 6 cores being the new 4 going forward

KenjiS9965 got a reaction from Mnky313 in Unlimited data?
I use 30+gb on my Note 10+ frequently on Verizon and dont have issues with it being throttled, and I use mine for a lot of video and gaming if that helps
Also T-Mobile I've heard in general is pretty generous with their mobile data stuff

I had a delta fan in my Athlon XP system on the heatsink which was some custom aluminum thing, First time i ever bought a non-stock heatsink/fan for a CPU
Got it at FrozenCPU if anyone remembers them

KenjiS9965 got a reaction from gamesalex in Gigabyte rx 5600 xt
Updating any bios is ALWAYS risky. Period. This card does not have a dual bios configuration either as far as I can tell which means if the worst happens theres no falling back to a different bios
How about the Sapphire Pulse RX 5600XT? It has dual bios which gives you a backup to fall back to if the bios flash messes up
https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-11296-01-20G-Radeon-Backplate-Graphics/dp/B083R25Z94/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=rx+5600+xt&qid=1585988132&s=electronics&sr=1-3
The vbios update with improved clock speeds and such makes pretty good difference, IMHO, if you're not updating the bios on the 5600 XT buy a 2060 instead

No. The card will be fine so long as thermals are fine.

KenjiS9965 got a reaction from TheBahrbarian in Disk usage 100%, stuttering games, less FPS...
In the case of my laptop, its probably a "i havnt used any HDD for gaming in so long I forgot" as my old laptop was -entirely- SSD, but my new one has an SSD and a HDD in it and the SSD isnt that large (I was planning to swap the HDD for one of my spare 2.5" SSDs but the laptop has some other problems that means its currently just sitting over there waiting for me to feel like trying to fix it)
Also, Im a rediculous multitasker, So I've had 32gb in two systems now. I frequently go over 16gb because im running a bunch of stuff at the same time and also when I go to do photo editing I can easily chew 20+gb really fast for processing... I even ponder if I shouldn't have opted for 64gb on this thing for a little future proofing but I digress...
Most people would likely just stick to recommending 16gb now for most gaming systems. 32 is probably overkill right now for just gaming. But I wouldn't go under 16 anymore, except maybe in the absolute lowest end bare budget rigs
