Scrubbah reacted to network_engineer in Should I do Networking as a Job?
Network Engineer of 10yrs here. Do it. It's a challenging job. Become an expert and doors will open for you... I design and build Continuous Integration systems. From home. In my basement. Sometimes I don't wear pants.
Seriously, absorb as much knowledge as you can, become the content matter expert no matter where you work in IT. Experience and attitude are all that matter. Certifications are nice and some companies probably look for them - In my experience in IT, real world experience and technical aptitude will take you a long way.
ITIL certifications are big in the corporate world now. Understand business process, agile methodology, and become a scrum master, then you can wear no pants, like me!

It's not listed you have to add it to your cart then on step 3: Accessories you select removable graphics 755M and then the power options and select the 170W Adapter (Needed to run them in SLI) and it adds like 171$ to your purchase

Scrubbah reacted to Destin in Laptop Buying Advice
I purchased the y510p with dual 755M's via ultrabay and the 170W adapter to run them in SLI for 1,068 or 1,174 with taxes, but I just ordered it so it hasn't gotten here yet. I think the specs look great for just over a grand though.

However, cat5e can still do 10Gb/s for up to around 55m (Ideally keeping it a little shorter as it may not be exactly 55m - it depends on several environmental/interference factors as well).
