  1. By no budget, do you mean it is unlimited or your trying to do it the cheapest you can??? I have the Gigabyte G34WQC. I upgraded from a 29" Ultrawide LG 1080p 60HZ to this 34" 1440p 144Hz. I am really surprised your 1080ti can't keep up??? I have a 1070 and it seems to be doing a good job. But maybe I haven't been running as high as you currently are.
  2. I tried doing this sort of thing with my Video conversions. And when my daughter does her video rendering. My OS runs off a 500GB SSD, I used another SSD to put the footage on it, then move it to a HDD for storage. Once I get a NVMe drive, I was just going to use it for the scratch drive, since that is what it will be best used for. Thank you for this information.
  3. This one is a bit cheaper. The CPU price should NOT be this darn high!!! I wouldn't buy it for anything over $180. And I realize it is hard to find stuff. Not sure of your timeline. But I think this is a respectable build. And it doesn't have a lot of RGB. It does have the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you requested. 4. I find this very interesting! I am in the process of encoding my DVD/Blu-ray collection. I have been using MakeMKV then Handbrake. I guess I need to look at what settings I am actually using. I took a break from that to convert some VHS, VHS-C, HI-8 and MicroDV tapes for friends. Also had a break because I did a major upgrade. MB/CPU/RAM which I also added case, HDD&SSD and PSU (apparently 10 years old is a good time to upgrade? LOL) Oh and an adapter to keep using my Blu-ray/DVD drive.
  5. what is your budget to spend? Is it possible to get a used GPU and a new monitor? I have a used 1070 ($200USD) and bought a new Gigabyte monitor (https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824012017?Item=N82E16824012017) for $400USD.
  6. It depends on what you need for USB ports, how many and what speed? Are you using a case with a window and are you going to be looking at it, or is this pure utilitarian? When you put a micro-ATX or ITX MB in a mid-tower case, there will be a lot of blank area in your case. Do you already have a case you can keep using? (I used my last one for 8 to 10 years) I changed mine out for better airflow. Also, right now, prices are all over the place because of the holiday shopping. Some places have stock and some don't. I tried looking for Tunisia in PCPartPicker, but it wasn't listed. How much is shipping going to impact your list? You stated that you want to game at 60fps @ 1080p resolution. I bought a used 1070 last year for $200, and it is pushing my 34" 1440p Ultra-wide monitor without any issues so far. With all this said, the main thing that I focus on is the MB (Does it have the latest tech at a lower price so it could last like 4 to 6 years?) and the case (does it have the room for my drives and does it have the ports I need or might need in the future). My last case, Rosewill Gaming 5 had a external SATA port, I NEVER used it.
  7. Ok. Thank you for the clarification. I haven't built an Intel System since the Slot-A socket days (1999, I think is when I built it.)
  8. Waiting is always the better option, however; at some point, you have to pull the trigger and be happy with what you are getting. Parts last longer than you think. Unless your are gaming at the ULTRA high end that demands the best of everything, you can get at least a good number of years between upgrades. The other thing that perplexes me, why put a Micro-ATX MB in a Mid-tower case? I am sure you can find an ATX size MB that would give you some expandability for next few years.
  9. The highest CPU you can put in your current MB is a 9th generation Intel Processor. (If I am reading this chart correctly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_socket ) If you want to go Ryzen, you need a AM4 socket MB, preferably with a 400 series chipset (eg. B450 or X470). A B450 would most likely be the cheapest way for you to go Ryzen. Depending on what you can find in your area. Sadly I am not an expert in this area like I used to be. But hopefully it points you in the right direction. Keep doing research to educate yourself.
  10. I believe they are. I got my son a 2600X in fall of 2019 and it was the Wraith Stealth. I think with the Ryzen 7s they pack them with a Wraith Prism? I am really glad I bought my Ryzen 5 3600 this summer before stock of EVERYTHING went out!! GEEZ. Talk about a DRY holiday season.
  11. Oh you are not kidding there. Almost every time I sit down, I wipe off the front!! Of course, 4 hoomans and 8 cats, there is some dust in the air. LOL
  12. Personally I like the LanCool II Mesh. This is the first round of my cable management. The included covers help. Sorry I don't have a picture of them installed.
  13. Sometimes it takes awhile for people to respond. Personally I am not sure, I use MSI Mystic Light (which does NOT work with everything I have that is RGB.) The main thing you want to make sure of is that your RBG connectors on your fan have a matching connector on your Motherboard. You may want to mention which MB you have. Of course, you could research this yourself as well. Look at your MB Users Manual to see what kind of RGB/ARGB connections it has. And a RGB connector is 3 pins (I believe) and an ARGB connector has 4 pins. Sorry I have not done many upgrades with RGB.
  14. JayzTwoCents just did a video on this (I think 2 or 3 days ago. I would link it, but I can't get to YouTube from my work PC. From what I have seen in the latest upgrades I have done. (Same boat as you, my last major update was back in 2011.) I see more ways of Auto Over Clocking in the BIOS. In the BIOS you can change this in the XMP settings. Personally I had to use Profile 2, which took my RAM to 3600Mhz. You could always change it manually (which I think has been around for awhile, if I remember correctly). I don't have answers for questions 4 & 5. And not sure where PCMR is posted. (I have kept my social media out of my life.)
  15. Normally I would recommend a Lian Li Lancool model. But there is just no way to find them for $70 these days. I did find a Corsair 220T for $80. https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Airflow-Tempered-Glass-Mid-Tower/dp/B07RW8GLQJ/ref=sr_1_23?crid=YYZY873P7U6Z&dchild=1&keywords=lian+li&qid=1607187037&s=pc&sprefix=lian+%2Celectronics%2C212&sr=1-23 If that helps.
  16. Where is here? So we can help look. And I like the Lian Li Lancool line myself.
  17. I am partial to the Lian Li Lancool II Mesh myself. I have the performance model, so the only RGB I have is the X570 Tomahawk Wifi and the GTX 1070. I have 3 HDDs, But this is the drive cage moved all the way forward. Here you can see how visible the fans are through the Mesh front. Hopefully this shows you how much the cable routing looks on this side. And how much you can see through the side bottom panel. I do like this case very much! I did just purchase my son a Lian Li Lancool 215 to replace his MSI Skeria 500X, which has NO airflow in it! His system overheats with the side window on it. I really like the look of that case, but it has NO function.
  18. I had the same kind of issue. So I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07452Z3KH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that way I didn't need to buy another drive, just use my existing Blu-ray drive. I bought a Lian Li Lancool II Performance case.
  19. I definitely agree with you there. Newegg has the B550 Aorus Pro @ $176. I bought my X570 Tomahawk for $215. Of course that was also waiting for the auto-notification that it was in stock (About 2 months of waiting this summer/fall). Heck my chipset fan doesn't even spin that often. At least I haven't seen it spin, when I look at it.
  20. Not sure if this link will work. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare?CompareItemList=9SIAPMXBSP4083%2C13-145-215 And, HOLY COW, did those prices go up!!!
  21. I see your point. For me, the B550 Tomahawk was cheaper than the X570 model. But I has more than enough USB for my needs, currently. LOL As for Thunderbolt, I don't have any devices that have it. Sure, I may regret that one day. But my needs are simple. I don't overclock a great deal. (I probably should buy a better cooler for my CPU, probably the tried and true Hyper 212.) I am only running my 5 3600 at 4.2GHz.
  22. I guess I should have clarified that. I recommend, not skimping on the Motherboard. That is the main part you need to last for many years. It's why I got the Tomahawk. It was well reviewed, and has a good solid build.
  23. I can't remember either. But my philosophy has always been to get the latest tech/hardware, and buy some things near the bottom of the stack. That way over the next 8 years I will add one thing at a time. Heck, my FX2 system, I just replaced this year. (I think 6-8 years is some good use). I agree going X570. I am running a X570 Tomahawk, with 32GB 3600 (I would recommend this, that way you can get another 32GB of RAM as the memory prices for DDR4 are low in 2 years, then it will go up once DDR5 is launching.) with a Ryzen 5 3600. Paired this with a GTX 1070 I bought last year on eBay.
  24. I agree with leaving those choices. If it is possible to get a TD500 Mesh, I would put that over the others. If you have the room, the HAF XB is pretty cool, if you like a test bench kind of setup.
