Starglider got a reaction from Vitalius in Oculus rift no more? HTC Vive could be the way...
They had a lot of their money in Facebook bonds / stock or something and were bought out by facebook for a fraction of the cost that they paid for snapchat (which is sickening)...
Facebook say they will leave them to it and we will get the device we all expect and want but at some point facebook is going to want something, and I fear that something, there will be consequences...

HTC and Valve have enough money to do just as well so, come on HTC & Value, GO GO GO!!! lol

Starglider got a reaction from Tech_Dreamer in Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 (for me so far)
Well, what did you think? It all went as expected if you ask me... I don't hold much hope for any kick ass new tech this year... So lets get to it.

    Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge

I've been using Samsung Galaxy S range phones now for years, I've been on contract with the S1, S2, S3 and S4. But personally I think Samsung have done nothing new or worth writing home about since the S3.

So what's the difference between the two models?
It has curved screen edges (yes like the one they showed off by Samsung mid 2013!)
    http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/24/4768264/samsung-shows-off-working-curved-screen-smartphone
It has the curve on both sides unlike the one shown mid 2013
It looks to be a plastic case rather than metal like the S6
Has side swipe points (what's the bets that will bring the screen out of standby each time you pick up the phone causing a big loss in battery life) Now for the good points, because the bad points will (for me) put you off these mobiles from even being considered a purchase or locking me into another 2 year contract.

    The good
Oooo curved screen (Personally I don't think much of this, would have pref the screen bending version which reduces sun glare)
http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/8/4818572/samsung-galaxy-round-curved-oled-smartphone-official It doesn't have a Snapdragon 810 processor which is known to overheat Supposedly a better camera than the iPhone 6 (I will wait till I've seen GSM Arena samples on this however) All the usual expected stuff (but not all!) Metal case and glass rear on S6, S6 Edge looks to be plastic also not sure if edge has glass rear 20% brighter screens
    The bad
Non removable battery! WTF No micro card sd slot! WTF WTF! Stupid screen resolution 1440p - there goes your battery life and 20% brighter, probably drain the battery 20% faster lol Under 3000 mAh battery (are they ever going to learn, if not by now, I doubt it) Tried to sell us the usual bull of how fast the camera now opens, when we all know it wont be like that all the time and eventually after lots of use, apps and background services running etc that camera app will take a second or two to run
    Conclusion (for me)
Time to move on, nothing to see here, adios samsung and thanks for all the fish!

    For full specifications check out:

    Galaxy S6 Edge
    http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6_edge-7079.php

    HTC One M9

I've never really been a fan of HTC, but I think it could be time to check it out, now that they moved away from 4x4cm pixels and a 2mp camera.

    The good
Good screen resolution (1080p) complete waste of battery and money after this IMO Front facing speakers Case 20MP Camera (quality needs to be reviewed check GSM Arena some point after release) MicroSD card slot 3GB Ram 32GB of internal space (I didn't see a 16GB model, but there probably will be) The bad
Snapdragon 810 processor know for overheating issues I personally do not like the customisations they have made to the android system (I would probably flash the device with stock android when I can but I wouldn't recommend this to all as you can turn it into a worthless brick and void your warranty) Battery still under 3000 mAh (2840 but only has to power a 1080p screen)
So it looks like we have a clear winner, even if I don't buy the HTC One M9, it's a clear winner over the S6 and S6 Edge (for me).

Full phone specifications can be found here:
    http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_m9-6891.php

Now for the one I will probably purchase...

    Xiaomi Mi Note

I've never had one from them before but the stats and design and screen to body ratio is better than anything Samsung or HTC have to date with the same design. Main stats which push me to buy this are:

5.7" screen (personally I'm not a fan of anything over 5" but after using a Galaxy Note 4 I found it quite nice) 1080p screen (no silly resolutions) Android 4.4.4 (5.0 would have been nice but no loss there really) 2.5Ghz (need more? why?) 16/32/64GB internal storage versions 3GB Ram 13MP Camera (Which I will probably set to 8 or 9) 3000 mAh battery (would have liked to have seen a 3500 on a device with this screen resolution but at 1080p shouldnt be so bad) Only 2 negative, non removable battery and no MicroSD card slot, but it's been a long time since I've used my phone for watching videos or cramming it with more apps & MP3s than I could listen to given the battery life on these things (I pref to refine my play lists).

As for the rest so far (sunday 01), HTC Vibe could be worth a look at, look how fast they got that ready compared to oculus rift! Piss take or what. They announced the HTC Vibe in partnership with Steam will be released Q4 2015, which will probably be before the oculus rift. Oculus rift moves an IR LED 1cm to the right and they treat it like man just landed on the moon for the first time.

Philips BDM4065UC 40" 4K 60Hz Widescreen LED Monitor   1. OCUK next day (sat) delivery, nice and timely. Delivery company/man didn't damage the box this time and all is in good quality and working order [score 5/5]   2. Some assembly required to mount stand to L plate thing and then to monitor unit (very easy nothing complicated, it was harder getting the thing out of the box) [score 4/5]   3. It's weighs about 1/2 the weight of the Samsung 40" 1080p TV it's replacing if not less [score 5/5]   4. It comes with UK power lead (warning: this is quite short) [score 2/5]   5. It comes with a crazy short Display Port 1.2 cable (so unless your PC is no more than 2 or 3cm away from the monitor DP port then I suggest you buy a 5m DP1.2 cable like I did, just make sure it's a DP1.2 Cable or you wont get the resolution or refresh rate. AND make sure the monitor is set to DP1.2 and not DP1.1 which it is by default! [score 0/5]   6. Monitor at 30Hz is rubbish, not worth it at all, do not buy it if you haven't got a machine that can run this at 60hz (note make sure you have DP1.2 cable and monitor is set to DP1.2 or you wont get 60hz option, DEFAULT IS 1.1 Cable!   7. The stand has no movement, at all, but does the job however I've had to put some folded cardboard under the rear pads to correct the lean back tilt [score 0/5]     8. Monitor at 4K is very nice, however I found the text a bit too small, and as windows font scaling is **** I opted to go for 1440p, so now I have a 1440p 40" and next to it a native 1440p 32". 1440p. I didn't expect to drop the screen resolution but for programming it's a big yes. I couldn't read 1/2 the menu items, property panels etc in most of the Adobe Creative Cloud applications at 4K and windows font scaling doesn't affect Adobe Applications due to them using their own GUI code. [score 5/5]
UPDATE: I'm back to running it at 4K, now that I am more awake and had a cup of tea the text has become much more readable, so I can see me running at 4k when i start work but when it comes to end of the day or really long hours I can see 1440p making an entrance. But it's nice to have that option at the very least now  [score 7/5]   9. Monitor can switch between 4k, 1440p and 1080p with ease!  I had trouble using my old Samsung 40" 1080p TV with some games as they would start up in a resolution which wasn't supported by the TV and thus they wouldn't run or screen would just go blank and say check input, this should stop all those issues! [score 5/5]   10. Picture quality is lovely, compared to the Samsung 1080p TV it's replacing it's worlds ahead [score 5/5]       And some screens for you all to check..   Coders delight - NOTE 1 of these apps usually fills a 1080p screen     2. Coders delight 2: NOTE 1 of these apps often fills or takes most of a 1080p screen up     3. 40" @ 4K vs 32" @ 1440p     5. How small things can get

I've never seen lightening indoors before. Blue flash, circles of brighter flashes, big crack and bang sound and sends him flying 15ft on the factory floor. After about 1 minute of everyone not moving in shock, he gets to his knees, shakes his head, grabs his screw driver and straight back in there! WTF!!!!! lol

System will be taking parts from my current rig:

    3 x WesternDigital Caviar Black drives (2x1tb and 1x2tb)
    1 x Samsung 256GB SSD (boot drive)
1 x (forgot make) 256GB SSD (www drive for apache - pc wont boot from it and RMAd twice but works for data use)
1 x Blue Ray  RW / DVD RW / CD RW Drive

Got some cheap rubbish SATA cables in there, keep getting event log issues device at port errors etc, give cable a jiggle and its fine for a few days again.

RE: PSU - As my machine is on for such a long time every day and there is a chance of another 980 joining the system next year, 1000w flower power should be good.
RE: Inno3D GFX Card - As its reference design it shouldn't matter (i think) as the company who gets it only changes the box colour and the rest is nvidias stock. (i think).

    Good feedback, thanks guys
