Ok I finally got home and installed cinebench R20 so it’s apples to apples. They got OC - R20 Single 630 - Multi 8711 or OC + High priority - R20 Single 625 -Multi 8908 My 5900x is running 4.65ghz all core, 1.23v R20 Single 601 Multicore 9124 max temp of 72c and the cpu pulled 185 watts. I knew my single core would be lower because it’s not boosting as high due to manual settings. This is OP’s R23 results R23 Multi Core 22433 R23 Single Core 1609 I had also tryied PPT 165, TDC 115 ,EDC 150 that gave me: R23 Multi Core 22521 R23 Single Core 1590 My 5900x 4.65ghz all core 1.23 volts R23 multicore 23565 cpu temp 74.1 and the cpu pulled 185.696 watts R23 single core 1550 cpu temp 49.3c

Something ain’t right with this. I’m running a PA120 air cooler and manual OC on my 5900x and get a little over 23k in R23 and at cooler temps than the Op is getting with the aio. I’ll have to double check but I think I’ve got it at 4.675ghz all core @1.2V Soon as I get home I’ll edit this with the results.

Ah ok, I didn’t know that. Here’s what I got so far previous results. wraith prism pbo on, limit set to motherboard 10 minute R23 run 4.05ghz 85c MC score of 21104 with pa120 voltage on auto, pbo off 10 minute R23 run 4.1ghz 62C MC score of 20805 with pa120 voltage on auto, pbo on +200 pbo limit set to motherboard 10 minute R23 run 4.3ghz 74c MC score of 21695 with pa120 voltage on auto, offset -.1v, pbo on +200 pbo limit set to motherboard 10 minute R23 run 4.35ghz 69C MC score of 22076

Thank you for replying. I’ve got my old results with the wraith prism above so I’ve got some kind of baseline for what I’m getting by swapping coolers in terms of temps and r23 score. I’m gonna test it stock than with pbo and with a -.1 voltage offset and see what I get. I’ll update this tonight when I get to test it in about 2 hours.

I just got a 5900x, was previously using a 5600x. After selling the 5600x I ended up paying $50 for the new to me cpu. I needed more cores/threads for productivity so that was a big win. The only cooler I have is a wraith prism. In cinebench r23 multi core I’m getting 21104 avg score, 85C on a 10 minute run and clock speed of 4.05-4.1ghz. I get similar results when playing games. I don’t like aio coolers, and from what I can see the peerless assassin 120 seems like the best bang for your buck. If I have to go aio I will but I’d prefer not to. Is anyone here using the PA120 and if so what are your temps, clock speed and score running cinebench/gaming with a 5900x? I’m interested in seeing results with other coolers too. My case is the be quiet dx500 with 6 140mm be quiet silent wings fans.

6700xt new, sell your 1070 and put the left over money towards a 1440p 144hz monitor

UHD Ultra wide / 43" 4k monitor for new 7900XT rig
Gohardgrandpa replied to redh4t's topic in Displays
I’d go 4k 16:9. Ultra wide is great when the stuff works natively but that’s not always the case. If you have the room for a 42inch grab an oled and enjoy it -
Reinstall windows and start over. Something isn’t right and your parts are fine. Temps are great but you’ve got something going haywire somewhere

Nothing wrong with getting a 6700xt but get a good model. The mech 2x cards are bottom of the barrel, you can do a lot better

I’d do a 3060ti for 1080p and a 3080 for 1440p. I ran my 3080 for months on a 1440p 165hz monitor and it was great. I swapped from a 3070 to the 3080 on the same monitor and saw a big improvement in fps at that resolution. If your ok with buying used Reddit hardwareswap group is the move, I’ve been seeing 3080’s selling for $5-$550 on the regular

Amd or intel board? What chipset?

1080p/1440p/4k, 60hz/144/240hz? Do you have a motherboard already? Brand preference?

Best Graphics Card for an i5-12400?
Gohardgrandpa replied to CaptainDarkstar42's topic in Graphics Cards
AAA games with ray tracing are gonna be hard to run at a constant 144fps at that res. You’ll have to spend a ton of money. If you can wait I’d see what amd has to offer next month before buying a 2 year old gpu -
Buying a 4090 for 1440p 144hz would be a total waste. You’d be better off waiting to see what amd brings to the table and the pricing. I sure as hell wouldn’t buy it for that monitor

Upgrading from GTX 1080 to RTX 4080?
Gohardgrandpa replied to bill_windowz's topic in Graphics Cards
Used is the move, you can easily get 3080 for $500 -
Most of the stuff I play is older. Im hoping this cod mw2 runs fine at 4k with the 3080, I think it will since I know it has dlss in the settings. With cod going to every other year and the limited games I play I’m hoping to be able to skip this whole rtx 4000 series and save up for a beefy 5000 series card while I wait.

I wish everything had dlss, that would make the whole experience better

Did you play the cod mw2 beta with that setup? Cold War with dlss on performance ran really good, I’m hoping the new cod does the same but I only played that at 1440p What did you have the settings at?
