  1. If it has a 90Kw battery, it has a 90kw battery and tesla is in the wrong for crippling it PERIOD!!
  2. Demand was low because it cost too much. Hope they do better with Ultraram when/if they bring it to market.
  3. I only use it for texting because my celphone is a basic flip phone mainly for emergancies. We have 2 land lines.
  4. They'll switch to just "OS" and try to copy write that name like they tried to copy write the word "windows".
  5. Thank you. I was looking in settings, in startup and other places one would expect the option to be.
  6. Did a restart that was suposed to be something about updating .net and now I have a new icon in the tray with weather and a bunch of other crap when mousing over it and no clear way to get rid of it. If I try to go into it's settings, typical ms crap is hard coded to their browser instead of the one I set as default.
  7. These guys are working on a 6 axis controller. https://www.sublightdynamics.com/
  8. Given how widely used windows is now, it is a critical software and the feds should start fining MS harshly every time they do this. hitting them in the bank account harshly is the only thing that will put a stop to this. Big corps only care about money and MS really has a monopoly with no reason to make sure they don't screw up peoples computers.
  9. When an update comes in, I get a message in the tray saying that windows will reboot outside normal hours to finish installing updates. Meaning, ether you restart now to update, or it will do it latter tonight. If that's not forced, what is?
  10. It's gone from the location it belongs and I was told it was removed. Was talked about in another thread on these forums.
  11. Not that we have much choice. I paid extra for the "pro" version mainly for the rolling update delay option which they then removed. Now you have to keep manually going in and bumping up the delay.
  12. They need to put the anti-mining code in the card firmware quietly so miners just think the cards are crap from mining. But to make that work, they would have needed to do that with all 30xx cards from day one.
  13. Something to note about caps is they have both a voltage and temperature rating. And while you might not see 85c temps in your case, if the cap is being used in a switch mode power supply or otherwise being exposed to high frequencies, it will have high internal temps. They get cooked from the inside. Having work in consumer electronic repair, I can say it is very common to use standard temp range caps in high frequency designs when extended range caps should be used. The result is bad/bulging or leaking caps. They may even look ok and test ok on a basic fluke. but need to be tested at the frequencies they are used at. I also have seen countless boards where caps rated for 6v are used on a 5v line. That is not enough head room. And over time they will die. These factors will shorten the life a cap. Then there is the quality of the cap. A well made cap in a proper design for it's specs will last a very long time. But a cheap cap will dry out faster no matter how will the circuit is designed. Oh, and when I say high frequency, I'm not talking about the Ghz you see in a modern computer, Even 100Khz can cook a cap.
  14. They come out with something better the the dead end nand flash, try to recover their dev cost in a small limited production making it cost too much for most anyone to buy and then drop it, Not enough sales? Wonder why. If they had ramped up production to get cost down right away and spread the dev cost over a longer time, it would not be selling now because it would be out of stock like everything else from high demand. Maybe the next group will do better with Ultraram: https://contest.techbriefs.com/2020/entries/electronics-sensors-iot/10357 https://www.tomshardware.com/news/ultraram-non-volatile-ram-dram-flash-storage Nah, big companies can't think that way. They all want big bucks right away.
  15. TSMC can't meet the needs of the customers they already have. Shortages will get worse and prices will skyrocket even more.
  16. The first of the 30xx cards had less ram because they thought they could get away with it. But then AMD slapped 16G on all their new cards, so NV is having to up the ram on the rest of the line.
  17. Problem I don't think is your screen res, 1080, 1440, etc., It's the size of the textures newer games are using or going to use. I'm still stuck with 4g on my GTX1050ti and I'm sure it's a problem at times in Star Citizen, Space Engineers, etc..
  18. That is exactly what happened. They sell a lot of toner and do a lot of work for companies as well. The brand toner they sell is "Image Master USA" and have been selling them for years. I haven't compared prices lately, but when we started buy from them, they were about 1/2 the price of OEM and pointed out things to look for on them to know if they were a good quality or cheap knockoffs. This local Printer company was awhile back offered HP servicer status by hp because they do so many, but told they could not work on any other brands. So they said no.
  19. This is like buying a car and then having the cars computer not allow it to start if you don't use gas, oil, tires, etc., from the dealer. It's also forcing a monopoly for printer supplies. And a form of bait and switch. Buy the printer, then after a bit, you can't use supplies from other companies. What next? have to buy the paper from them too?
  20. I was at the printer repair shop yesterday getting some toner and they said recently they had a bunch of people report their printers stopped working after the printers did auto firmware update because they didn't have OEM toner cartrages.
  21. I play most games below 30fps do to low hardware
  22. Still have to keep the room the pc is in cool or it can't keep itself cool. The room my computer is in is well isolated with 1 outside block wall isolated on both inside and out. My computer can raise the room temp a couple of degrees or more at times. And that is with the vent full open. The air blows out into the hall right were the thermostat is. And if the AC didn't run more, the room could easily hit 85+ even though the thermostat is set to 75.
  23. I wish they had put more of their design work into keeping power usage down. Cards that can do 300+ fps with max settings is more bragging rights then anything. I would prefer a card with a little less fps that uses less power, not more. Don't forget, that increase in power usage means more heat out which also requires increased house cooling. It may not seem like much, but it can add up fast. My 1600af with GTX1050ti can raise the temp of the room it's in a couple of degrees. And the house thermostat is on the wall right outside the room which means the AC runs more.
