  1. you did okay for 400 euros but the quad core won't do to great for many games besides csgo and less demanding games

The 9700k is a much better choice than the 3700…

I feel the same way, though it's not like I use the forum that much anymore.

i just got a copy of windows 10 pro for free

I needed an extra copy for when I finish my new pc and I was just looking but then a $5 coupon popped up. I thought maybe there was some special terms but it applied to any purchase so I tried it on a cheap $4.49 key and it gave it to me for free so im coolin rn

  6. not tryna be rude but its pretty clear off white. he did say "how do i clean a white headset" so I assumed he meant what looks like it was once white, not the black metal mesh
  7. im pretty sure the white part is plastic
  8. i gotta ask whats the problem with buying used because its going to get you a better card than a 1660 like i understand you might not be comfortable with the risks but ebay has had buyer protection
  9. maybe your cpu isn't cutting it. It doesn't sound like that could be the issue since this is only happened since you changed the gpu and installed new drivers.
  10. if you really want to be sure ask to see what display ports the card has
  11. the ram thing is understandable, you were just 5 short years too late with 16gb at $50. regardless of that, it seems weird to me that the drivers weren't there when you added the new card. I'm a little stumped as to what your problem is and hopefully more knowledgeable people will pick up on this post.
  12. ye I did skim what you said but it is true minecraft is a cpu game at vanilla, like csgo. Honestly the slower windows performance sounds weird. Maybe he didn't change it but just plugged his drive into the new board
  13. just at first glance from your specs, your ram is pretty slow. It's just something I did notice and I was wondering if you have XMP enabled, or if thats just the speed of the RAM you bought. Even though you didn't change from AMD to Nvidia or vice versa, did you use DDU to clean out your drivers before reinstalling? It does the best clean sweep of drivers compared to just doing it though nvidia or the control panel
  14. yeah jumballi is right. The 1060 3gb is pretty garbage and the 3gb of vram really bottlenecks its performance.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have my PC running by the start of 2020. I think there will be changes I want to make like getting a better PSU, adding more storage, and maybe a newer GPU in a year+. I'm just going to be happy to have a PC that can edit and run more than just source games.

I'm changing from the white meshify C to the black one just because white is used a lot and I think it'll be a little easier since I won't have to paint certain parts of the case white. It would of looked nice with my cables and the custom front panel I have, but the RGB that my parts do have will be better picked up by black.

    Status Update

  19. I have read though all your paragraphs and I do already know about a lot of it (and I appreciate your responses still). Although it would be much easier on a higher budget my friend can't just afford to extra money. This isn't a scenario where he can bend his budget a little, it's truly all he has. I know about ebay, used, etc. Like I said it's been a bit since I've helped my friends and considered every option since my PC I'm building is new parts since I have a bigger budget. I already told him about the scam protection through eBay. Right now, he has $100 and about $27 worth of TF2 keys that he can cash out of with bitskins.com if he needs to. We're going to make a full plan of what to buy on eBay and whats in his area once we can. The HDD would likely just be for holding shadowplay clips.
