Found one of these in my tray the other day, I used to play old games on these when I was younger 👍. Tell me your thinking of these or similar RAM's, I though it would be nice to post some old stuff from PCMR
 

Long story short, what you hear is analog. 3.5mm is analog.
What your phone spits out is digital. USB type C is digital.
 
 
So there is a conversion from digital to analog somewhere in the line. So chance are it's not the earbuds that is 'bad', but it may just be the DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) in your that is worse than the DAC in the type C headphones.
So before attempting all this, I would test out your 3.5mm headphones on another device to see if it's the headphones, or your phone.
You would need to wire a DAC in series between the 3.5mm jack and a USB type C jack. soldering earbud wires is a royal pain though, so I would recommend not doing that.
But that's basically you what you need to do.
- get a DAC
- solder it in series between type C jack and your earbud wires
- ???
- Profit.
 
Or just get a DAC... Or first try out the earphones somewhere else.

It will Work Just fine, still good Hardware. And Long Updates.
 
But i would not buy it. It's huge, has the biggest bezels ever, and not a huge Screen.
 
I would prefer an Xr or 11 over it, even If it Costs slightly more, are 1 or even 2 year newer, faster, smaller despite bigger Screen, more modern Look, better cameras, better battery Life, modern gesture controls...

I agree with @TheGlenlivet I have a 8 plus as well been doing good, i don't plan on upgrading until apple adopts usb c and 5g.

Guys is iphone 8 plus a good buy in 2020? Does it compare good to other phones?
