2600 is faster, runs cooler per frequency (by a little), but the main thing is the RAM is easier to get up to speed. It'll work better with new GPUs, in the future, better. 1600 is still a great CPU, it's just the 2600 will likely work better for longer.

cooling wise id pick up a Dark Rock Pro 4 for cooling.
For mobo and good VRM go with X470 and the Cheapest X 470 ATX board from ASrock.  1080 is only 50 above MSRP atm. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VtnG3C/inno3d-video-card-c108v32sdnp6dnx this 1080 should be good price aswell as excellent cooler.  out of stock or something. its from  previous buidl i recommended. il find a new one

In terms of SSD id go with a Crucial 250GB SSD, but thats up to you.

PSU: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bkp323/seasonic-focus-plus-gold-550w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-550fx this one or the 650 watt variant

    hope you found this helpfull

the theory is that manufactorers of board cheaped out due to the unknown sales of the Ryzen series. Now that they have shown great profitability thay have invested more into components and board design. more expencive X370 boards are probably fine, but you might aswell get X470 due to more feature and better power-delivery to newer chips in the future

if overclocking it might not be worth using a B350 board as they arent great overclockers. also the X470 boards have far supirior build quality in comparison to the 300 series boards

Be careful with the arctic silver when applying
    That's from the products website

I wouldn't drop down to B350 if you plan to overclock, but the X370 will do fine and save money. And the cooler is ok if you don't plan to OC, but if you do you need better than that

is this a new build or your current build?

Two suggestions. 2933mhz Ram instead of 2666mhz to satisfy the bandwitht of the infinity fabric. Also get a 2600 instead if you can. its a small cost for a newer platform with better ram-support and motherboards.

im bad at rating it since idk what a 10/10 is. but it is pretty good

550w PSU will do, and an SSD is a must have.

Overall 7/10. Nothing bad enough to send to Gulag.

Agree with this, but he might need to flash UEFI if the motherboard out of the box won't work with the Zen+. And while on that note, he can just go with X470 for a few extra bucks.

I give it Vodka but no zakuska with it - faster ram will definitely help it.

According to a few the X470 boards are far supirior in terms of construction, VRM and power delivery and so fourth (not a mobo guy). It is wiser to go for the newer boards imo.
