mmm... not so much. At least, not with my personal experience or my IRL friends' experiences. Then again, there's not actually a hierarchy of anime stages based on the user's experience with anime. Changes definitely occur in people's personal preferences over time and at times is in relation to their past anime viewing, but personal preference is still a variable that's not predictable with people you don't know. It just seems a little presumptuous to try predicting that imo.
 
Also, with the negativity perspective - that too seems to be entirely based on the person from what I've seen (as opposed to experience), with anime as well as other media (like gaming).

I heard Akame Ga Kill (or something like that) is really violent. Haven't seen past the first episode myself though. Also heard that Elfen Lied is gory. I'm not particularly into gory stuff though so this is all just second hand recommendations. I was considering watching Elfen Lied though, I've heard MANY good things about it.

You can also be blinded from the negativity as well. Anime isn't simply crap, if it was you probably wouldn't be here.  Discussing nothing but negatives blinds you to the goodness in anime just like how the opposite can theoretically occur. Negativity doesn't gain an exception just because people often think of it as a synonym to realism.

I think that mindset is better for productivity of thinking and thought experiments, but not necessarily enjoyable. I think a balance should be kept. That's generally why I discuss (primarily) the positive. It's not that I lack criticism entirely, there are things I don't like about all these shows, but it's generally counter productive to me as I have a bad habit of my attitude being poorly influenced by negativity. In other words, if I focus on more negatives about something, I myself getting a more negative attitude in the moment. I don't like being negative. Do keep in mind that I may be more emotionally effected in this way that other people may not be. Also (this clarification probably should've been addressed sooner) I don't like to argue usually because I fear escalation. That tends to lead to people's pride being a higher priority than keeping a level head. Also, it's generally not considered good form. It's also the reason why it took me a few posts to start expanding on my opinions of F/Z & UBW
 
With Magi, I don't think there's much I don't like. When I think of that anime, I think of it as one of the few that has mostly things I like or remain neutral upon even with scrutinizing, but if there's anything I don't like it's probably that some things (characters and story at times) appear to have more depth than they actually have. That's also a hinderance to Fairy Tail imo. There's not much in regards to people appearing to be intelligent or strong from first impressions but only going so far as to go through a single short battle before you know their limits (as an example).

Keep in mind I'm not very picky or critical about anime. I like most anime I watch (more than an episode of anyway). It's why I watch it of course. I like keeping an open mind to fictional worlds so that things like "a cheesy cartoony villian" don't bother me. Like with games, I don't really get in the "everything except a few sucks" type of attitude I frequently see from many supposed fans of anime and gaming. I think that lack of nitpicking (no offense) allows me to see things like this from a bit different of an angle. I think anime is good right now, both for newer anime like The Seven Deadly Sins, Dragon Ball Super (though only a tie-in thing atm unfortunately), etc. as well as slightly older (slightly) anime like Magi and.. well I just wanted to mention Magi because I think it's awesome . Looks like I got really side tracked

I saw a couple episodes of Darker than Black a couple years back. It didn't catch my interest immediately so I didn't watch more of it, but I might need to considering how many recommendations I've received for it.

I have no idea, I just returned to LTT yesterday (from a 6-12month or so break) so I have no idea what's been recommended or on the weekly list since then.
I have a question though, why does it say you have 5 posts yet your rep is so high? I think I'm misunderstanding how that works or something.

The main thing I learned from that is I have a coke right next to me that I need to start drinking. Also, I keep thinking you're an old man because of your avatar.
