Imagine if all hat CPU usage came from HP bloatware. #rip

main problem. high cpu usage. What apps are open? are you using chrome? chrome uses a lot of cpu and ram

If your computer is doing nothing, it should be nowhere near 40% usage. Sort by CPU usage on 'processes' and see whats at the top.

40% pretty high for idle no? You could look into possibly replacing the thermal paste on your cpu.

40% CPU usage =/= idle. Something is putting a load on the CPU, which is heating up the CPU.

    you mean this?

that cable looks like it has a mono phone plug on one end and a chinch on the other - however, the chinch input on the speaker is digital only - some soundcards used to output digital audio over a phone plug so that is where this cable would work. it would not work on a normal analog line or phones output jack.

if your speaker system does have the purple "analog in" jack like the one in @themctipers picture then use that one - otherwise use a chinch to chinch cable and on a digital output if you have one or get an analog to digital converter that looks like this:

if i had to guess.  poor multicore optimization.

I see the same thing in WoW with my 6700K and 1070.  one of the 8 threads on my 6700K is pegged, GPU sitting at 50%.  turning up the scaling to 4K from 1080P pegs the GPU as well, but with no framerate increase.

The definition of a CPU bottleneck.
