Not really anymore.  For me at least, the extra pixels are worth any slight annoyance with the colors being different.  In my case, I have an 27 inch ips panel in between two pretty old (~6 years) tn monitors.  I do most of my work, be it writing code, web browsing, media watching and what not on the ips, with the other monitors for glancing at other stuff.  It works pretty well for me, and the colors don't affect my work flow.  
 
If you're set on a 4k panel for the resolution bump, I wouldn't be that worried about the colors.
 
Also remember that my tn monitors are old.  The newer ones will have better color reproduction, even if they lag behind ips.

i guess we will have to wait and see what Linus thinks of the 4K G-Sync monitor he has at the moment.

We don't speak in a funny accent, in fact its all relative. I mean we think all others maybe apart from the British have really odd accents.

Seeing is believing, so far EA have mainly stimulated their relationship with my middle finger.

Yay! Some people are dumber than me because of a hobby I have!
