What the hell?

Sure, it could have been an honest accident. Cats like crawling in small spaces and they would definitely jump in to a warm dryer if given the chance. But if you kill someone's cat, even if it was an accident, then you have to take responsibility and accept the consequences for that.

If it was me I'd have to resign. I don't know how I'd be able to face someone if I accidentally killed their pet let alone expect them to trust me in their home and around their kids.

It's up to them at the end of the day, right? Even if she tries to argue that it wasn't negligence, they're still not comfortable keeping her, or however it works over there.

I agree, I don't think I could look at any of them in the eye. Accident or not, pets are part of the family and the guilt I would feel would be too much. Her fighting this makes me much less sympathetic to the nanny now :(

@lewdicrous I think the Nanny might be trying to argue they should be paid severance pay, typically 2 weeks, due to not receiving prior notice they were terminating the contract.

Ahh, I see, but this was due to an unforeseen event, I feel like the 2 week notice shouldn't matter here.

Basically, "You messed up, now stay away from my children"

You kill my pet you're out, I don't care if it was an accident or worse even on purpose. Pets are more important than humans, you can change a nanny but you can't bring something back from death.
