deltron3030 reacted to LAwLz in WPA2 has been cracked
There were multiple vulnerabilities disclosed. There are several small ones which aren't as serious, and some of those appear to affect all routers. Then there are some which don't affect all (because they lack support for 802.11r), and then there were some really big client vulnerabilities (which are unrelated to the routers).
The important updates are to the clients (so Windows, Android, MacOS, GNU/Linux, and so on) and not the routers. As long as your clients are patched you are relatively safe.

wellcome to Delta fans, perform great but sound is equally shit
-
deltron3030 reacted to Valkyrie Lenneth in CPU fan howling/whistling
deltafans were never designed to be a pressure fan aka cpu fan and stuff
they were designed for tunnel airflow ect , hence why they make so much sound when u put any object near it and they are pretty quiet in open air
however ppl started putting them into pressure designs... and thats when they started becoming jet engines
deltafans are more designed for servers and areas that need to expel heat at extremely quick rates ( airtubes above server rooms ect ect, just examples )

deltron3030 reacted to Bananasplit_00 in CPU fan howling/whistling
they are just loud in every way, just not really something most people want in their case over something like an NF-F12 or whatever
yah they are ment to sit in the front of a 1u or 2u server rack case and blow air on everything, they are loud AF in open air compared to other fans from what i have tested with the one i own (its a 92mm that i have compared to other 92mm fans i own, generally off shitty CPU coolers from P4 machines lol)

deltron3030 reacted to Valkyrie Lenneth in CPU fan howling/whistling
u just need a pressure designed fan with a max rpm of 2000ish because anything above 2000 usually starts to become really loud, many ppl think 1800-2000 is already loud af
for cpu, noctua fans seem to be the best x) but their pretty expensive too , noctua designed their fans on quality and aswell low volume + pressure combined ( if u take the pressure fans ofc )

What if you somehow offset the fan from the cooler a little so that it doesn´t have to press the air right against the fins? It suffices when the air goes through the gaps in between them.

It´s hard to tell without a good picture. I was thinking if you offset the fan quite a bit, you´d need to use a shroud. Perhaps you can screw the fan to the clip that attaches it to the cooler with some offset, or perhaps you don´t even need a shroud even with the fan quite a bit away from it. If you have some rubber grommets that come with some cases to install harddrives, you could use those. If you have zip ties or --- how is this called? binding wire? The stuff they wrap around network cables and such to hold them together ... --- some wire with which you can fix the fan to the shroud, you only need to put something in between at the corners that keeps it at an offset.
What would you use for a shroud? You could attach the fan to one end and the other to the cooler. (That´s kinda how these shrouds work anyway ...)
PS: Gut another fan and use it as a shroud?

I was thinking like 1/4" gap, but you can do some more. The air will go through the gaps between the fins anyway (and not through the fins, obviously ).
So the fan is screwed to the clip holding it to the cooler? If you have something like zip ties, you could thread each one through the screw holes on the fan and a match box or a pile of little cardboard pieces to get the offset you want. The fan probably doesn´t need to sit exactly straight in front of the fins. Actually, it might eliminate the noise when the fan doesn´t sit straight, like when you offset only the left or the right side of the fan. You need to experiment, and you can always hold the fan by hand to figure out the best position.

To be honest I'm not even sure the exact source. I saw the gif some years ago and liked it. This is the closest I've found to any source or context. Volume Warning

deltron3030 reacted to LogicalDrm in Coolermaster TX3 vs 4790k HOT!
It turbos to only 4.4GHz. Average OC would be .3GHz on top of that. I don't know how much that would be in render times. You could Google some reviews and check yourself. Or you could try it yourself.
I already run my chip 100MHz over the turbo clocks.

deltron3030 reacted to XxDEATHB3TCHxX in i7 4790K w/ Cooler Master 212 Evo high CPU Temps
Somewhere between 65-70C, it doesn't go higher than that. I turned off Turbo Boost because for me it burns the CPU with additional 20C. I also realise that it freezes for sec randomly when CPU's at 100% is that normal?

Cool man, you got it figured out. What are you temps now at 100%? I have the same cpu and cooler, but switched out the fan.

When you are doing heavy overclocking, watercooling is absolutely superior. It has more to do with temperature differentials than anything else. The difference between AC and WC under normal operating conditions is so slim it is for all intents and purposes nonexistent. Neither of them can cool below ambient. When temperature differentials are minimal, WC is out of its element, so to speak. Once you get out of that window and the heat really builds is where WC shines. There are plenty of videos and articles available on the intertubes. Linus even has one if I recall.

deltron3030 reacted to DarkMatterX1 in Did I damage my CPU?
Don't waste your money on a watercooled solution if you aren't doing any serious overclocking. Under ordinary operating conditions and even moderate overclocking, watercooling and air cooling are functionally identical. If you want to go with watercooling for aesthetics, hey, it's your box. But from your description, you don't need anything at all like that. If you're just looking for efficient and effective cooling for your processor, just buy a new fan for your tower cooler and pocket the rest to use for another upgrade. Or pizza. Computers love pizza. Or computer users love pizza. I forget how that goes sometimes.

A brave mouse indeed...
If it comes down to freezing to death at night, or being eaten by cats...
My cats didn't eat it, I woke up to the damn thing in my face.

You have all those cats and a mouse was brave enough to enter your place? I was under the impression, mice stay away if they smell cats on your property.

I'd suggest to create a new post with subject need cooler suggestions for 4790k overclocking
I have a h100i and, got it for cheap $ so it's good, but not great for cooling solution. It really depends your budget etc..
Also keep in mind this is kind of a waste of money to buy coolers just to get couple more mhz..
It's more for fun, and also nice for extra performance, but it's never worth the extra performance for $$$ invested in the cooler

Also,
You can use REAL TEMP
To monitor temps all the time. See pictures. I keep this in my icon to see actual temp, and i always take a look at the max temp reached. For example this is my max temps after the pc stayed "on" for over a week. Played many games for long time etc..
-
deltron3030 reacted to gbergeron in Did I damage my CPU?
Keep it like that if thats your temp stock, u need better cooling to OC.
-
deltron3030 reacted to gbergeron in Did I damage my CPU?
I created a scheduled task to run realtemp gt .exe on log on, and I have put the icon steady on my icon bar.
I always see the temp now and take a look at max temps sometimes here and there just to make sure
-
deltron3030 reacted to gbergeron in Did I damage my CPU?
Perfectly fine temps.
Mine reaches close to that also. Between 60-70 is the sweet spot, specially if you overclocking, 70-80 is "ok" but I dont like that spot much because it heats my room. over 80 is a no go for me but still " ok "
-
deltron3030 reacted to gbergeron in Did I damage my CPU?
Nothing to worry about.
96 shouldn't have damaged your cpu, over 100 the PC will shutdown to avoid damage.
Maybe you shortened the cpu life for couple months lolll but heh , they are made to last 25 years. You probably will keep it for like 5 years so no worries at all.
Just make sure to set up fans curve correctly so it doesn't happen again.

deltron3030 reacted to W-L in Fan amp / motherboard question
The current needed to start the fans yes it will for very powerful fans will spike. You won't have a problem as long as your using the externally powered adapters since it will be drawing that power from the PSU.
