  1. Nobody is great, but personally I am a gigabyte guy. I like their stability and durability, their VRMs and features. And no one beats asrock in featres-for-the-price. I haven't had much experience with MSI, but that's because nobody imports them over here.
  2. I speak from experience. And I'm not saying they are completely trash. There is nothing wrong in liking asus, it's just they are often not as good as the other manufacturers.
  3. Well as a start, they offer less features for higher price than other manufacturers, some of their implementations (like audio, vrm etc) are poor even on their expensive lines, as well as taking away things like sata ports to save money (but at the same time they put fancy heatsinks paintjobs and what not). And did I mention poor quality control? There a more things, but as I've said, overrated and overpriced is the simplest description for asus. Anyway....
  4. Actually asus boards are highly overrated, and simply not as good as other manufacturers. Asus also spends faar more money on marketing and PR (instead on QC) than anyone else, which is the reason why it appears that all tech reviewers are using/preferring them.
  5. What does " Gibe nao" means? lolz Anyway... I have a tri-x 290 and the fans are killing me. But it's not the end of the world.
  6. Oh come on people.... They are not ignorant. They know exactly what they're doing.
  7. Why do you think they're doing it? To prevent people from rebelling/organizing in the future, when things get even more ridiculous. So freedom. Much demo.
  8. This is what you need > http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Silver-High-Density-Polysynthetic-Compound/dp/B000OGX5AM
  9. Most likely. Is the radiator warm when you touch it?
  10. You will notice it at some point, and even if that happens, you are still passively cooling it, so you can't damage your CPU. Returning it might be the best solution. I suggest you buy something from noctua, if you don't mind the esthetics. The NH-U14S is a perfect match for that 4790k (I have that combo btw). Or an NH-D15S if you plan on upgrading to 2011 in the future. They both shit on almost any AIO cooler out there, both in terms of noise and performance.
  11. Get rid of that AIO water cooler junk and put a proper air cooler. It will never fail you.
  12. I'm not very comfortable with that 350W PSU. And you plan on overclocking, so it's a no go. 7970 for 100 is a steal though.
  13. We are not talking about buying new here. ~300€ is a good price in EU for that CPU. And it has advantage out of the box. 4.4GHz vs 3.7-3.9 on the 4790 and xeon (not sure the exact boost speeds of these too) the xeon is a good idea if he could find one for below 200€ though.
  14. Then you are golden with that one. It is worth it, and he doesn't need to overclock it, since it is already high enough at 4.4GHz. And it will work perfectly with his mobo.
  15. I would try to find a second hand 4790k. You will be set with this CPU for a long time. Buying new CPUs from intel is not worth it if you are in EU.
  16. 8gigs and then 16. You never know what you'll wanna do in the future. This is PC after all. ;-) My photoshop for example eats 8-12gigs regularly with my insane projects.
  17. I use it as well, for the reason of possibly blocking threats. This might not be good. I recently got hit by a sality.at pretty hard, and I still don't know where it came from. I thought it might have been because I made a mistake of using IE (I know) with MB disabled. But if it's a weakness in NoScript, that's not good....
  18. David Wilcock posted a great analysis and summary about the whole stinking-from-a-mile-away "panama toilet papers"(as he called them lol). Worth a read if you people want to now what is actually all about. Quote about the PM that resigned:
  19. Micro$oft's DX12 and their new WDDM pipeline is to blame. And these issues cannot be "fixed". It's the way it works. In a closed M$ environment. Miro$oft has turned into this ugly monopolistic control-everything abomination. Btw I was trying to find a discussion about this here on LTT. Particularly about Ryan's excellent analysis on the situation, but I couldn't find one.
  20. Uhm.... The FOV?!!! It was an issue that will plague that game forever.
  21. Just use older version. 2.2.1 serves me just fine.
  22. Almost all of the disables effects (downgrade) were a part of the build at some point. Also, remeber the snowdrop engine videos? The tech is there, it's jus a matter of turning it on/off plus optimizations (that is no problem for a AAA monster like U-be-soft) BTW a small video with comparisons of the final shit and the e3 about what things have been disabled: You might find it interesting. Oh, and #FuckUbisoft
  23. Depends. What do you want to do on your PC? I had a Phenom II 945, I upgraded to 4790k last year. The difference is cosmic. No more bottlenecks in even old games, and the productivity increased over 150%. I still I wish I could get the 5820k, but it wasn't out when I upgraded.

I have most of the parts, the others I have also great experience with building PCs for friends. If you have Micro Center near you, you can get the CPU cheaper. OFC If I was building today for myself and money were not an issue, I would go for this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($374.99 @ SuperBiiz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($79.90 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($184.98 @ Newegg) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($89.99 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($62.99 @ Micro Center) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($70.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($65.88 @ OutletPC) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card ($649.99 @ B&H) Case: Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 ATX Mid Tower Case ($124.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Cooler Master 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($139.99 @ Newegg) Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($46.39 @ OutletPC) Total: $1879.08 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-01-17 06:10 EST-0500
