  1. VR benchmarking would be cool. Also allowing users to search the entire database of benchmarks so they could build a computer that suits their needs. Imagine being able to type in your build and know near exactly what your frames would be, that would be a game changer. Maybe partner with pcbuilder?
  2. https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-brings-galaxy-to-more-people-introducing-galaxy-s10-lite-and-note10-lite Samsung Electronics today announced the new Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite. Building on the legacy of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, these Galaxy Lite models bring key premium features such as the latest camera technology, signature S Pen, immersive display and a long-lasting battery at an accessible price point. My Thoughts: Just what we need, more versions of the same phone. Also I find it strange that they are releasing this so close to an apparent Feb launch of the galaxy S11. I'm not too sure how big of a market there is for a cheaper version of the Note10, but time will tell. Also way to steal the naming convention from Nintendo!
  3. I appreciate Grey's explanation, but when he speaks about not being able to understand how it works, that's completely false. You can learn how it works, it just takes a lot of time to do so. It's far from magic.
  4. As a programmer, it drives me crazy how everyone is talking about A.I. but no one talks about the difficultly involved. It drives me insane how people talk like it's just around the corner, but we cannot qualify what consciousness is, let alone how to develop or emulate it. The first part of programming is understanding the problem, and we cannot yet understand consciousness. All of this is so far off that I'd be shocked if anything comes anywhere close to a general intelligence during my life time. I view these articles as wishful thinking at best.
  5. Keyed for professional stuff. Most ports that are used professionally are only plugged in once.
  6. Oh man, I'm old. My first "custom built" PC had a Intel Pentium Pro. I believe it was 150MHz, 400MB HDD, and I think 4MB of ram. 1996 was a good year. But my FIRST pc was a hand me down Commadore 128. I believe it was around 1992, and my uncle, who had a lot more money than my family did, gave it to me as a birthday present. Here we are 27 years later, and I work in the industry as a programmer, and I pretty much owe it all to that Commadore.
  7. That won't happen. Apple is as much a fashion statement as it is a technology company. If they changed the design to a circle, it'd be hard to tell the difference between other watches, and that's something apple would never do.
  8. How is it that Canon is releasing a mirror-less that is still worse than Sony's. Come on already!
  9. It's not just Epic games, it's also: Riot Games Activision Blizzard Ubisoft Paradox interactive Supercell So hopefully all of you will not just boycott Epic, but also all the other companies Tencent has major steaks in.
  10. The problem is that Facebook, YouTube and Google are now acting more like Publishers, but don't want to be held liable as publishers. They are avoiding the regulation and responsibility that all publishers face, while also curating content. They want the Platform label, but want Publisher control. That's the issue here. Nothing more, nothing less.
  11. Battery tech is holding us back. My friend has a prosthetic arm, and the battery life is pretty bad. It's not impossible to manage, but it's far from perfect. I don't see anyone wanting to upgrade to a robot arm when you can only use it for 6 hours at a time.
  12. Ok, but an i5 4770k is being shown as better than an i7 4770k (https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4670K/1537vs1538). That's insane. I mean no one in their right mind would recommend an i5 4670k right now, but non-tech people use this to make purchasing decisions, and that's a problem. Add in the fact that next gen consoles are going to be on Zen 2, and not jaguar, multi core + multi threads are going to be the way of the future.
  13. Hard drive failure, battery issue, Wifi issue, charging port issue (which probably led to the battery issue). The nearest Apple store is 10 hours away, so it's kinda been a pain.
  14. Just let us repair i devices without making it so damn hard to get components! My wife has a MacBook pro and that thing has caused me nothing but problems.
  15. Or maybe they are investing in software that will allow people to better utilize their engine. Which is a smart move and has nothing to do with making them look like "good guys"
  16. It's insane to me that Sony is killing this market right now. I use to be a Canon guy, but after I sold off my production company, I moved towards Sony for everything. The 6300 is still unmatched by anything Canon or Nikon has made, despite it being 3 years old. I'm glad to see Sony improving, despite having the market cornered.
  17. As long as it's only used for Bullying, I got no problems with it. Once they start using it to shape a narrative, it becomes a problem.
  18. Basically. This just makes it difficult for researchers and devs to patch vulnerabilities and keep up on what people are doing. That's it. Sure there could be some harm from it, but it would be so minor, as anything that is published on youtube is going to be found and fixed very quickly.
  19. If they don't upgrade/reduce price/ drop it, I wouldn't be shocked.
  20. Yeah and once you get drift on those joycons you're screwed. Already happened to two of my joycons and they are only 6 months old. Obvious statement is obvious, of course they want more money, that wasn't the point. My point is it's just going to be a worse version of the switch, that won't have repairable joycon controllers, that can't be hooked up to the TV, that loses all the features of the switch, just so I can play switch games. It's just a worse product that will sell well, much like what Apple does, because of the fan base alone. That doesn't make it a good product. If Apple did something like this, this forum would riot. But everything Nintendo does is perfect in every way.
  21. Right that's my point. The 3DS is still $229. It's more expensive and performs worse.
  22. Yeah I mean it's not a Switch though. It has none of the features that made the switch the switch. The only thing it can do is play Switch games. It now competes with the 3DS. So why buy a 3DS. Also why is a 3DS so expensive? It just seems like a cash grab for the new Pokemon game release in the fall. I'm sure people will buy it because Nintendo can do no wrong, but the product just doesn't make much sense to me.
  23. I can do that with the Switch. Why would I buy a cut down version ?
