Yes, from a legal standpoint I'm probably safer then the vast majority of people here due to me requiring extensive background checks every two years. Why was the gun loaded? A safe is several hundred dollars, so I can understand if you don't have a budget but need a gun. But you should always unload the gun when not in use. I have no complaints there, a mandatory gun saftey class may be inconvenient, but I do think that if someone can somehow prove that you know what you're doing that the class can be wavered. I suppose that you wouldn't like me telling you that because I'm a government contractor that I can get a gun within a half hour then. I have always showed kids the wepons, explained to them what they are, and told them not to touch them. That's not a reasonable excuse for denying people firearms because they don't have a gun safe. Not exactly the same thing, but. That has gas in it right now, there's not a single person in this house that's going to pick it up and start it though. If you have kids irresponsible enough to actually shoot someone/something after educating them about a firearm then fine, but I don't have any kids and the kids that do come over are more responsible then that. Really, preventing theft would be a more compelling argument to me. But kids? Education goes a long way, something that parents don't do anymore.

Well, a gun is a tool that needs to be treated with responsibility. If you are proven to be a danger with a firearm it can be taken away. Like when some asshole decided to hunt on our property and when we told him to get the fuck out that we were violating his second amendment rights. Even if he wasn't on our property you can't point a gun within 100 yards from a residence.

I've had to use firearms to defend myself from someone that law enforcement wouldn't stop, so no, you can take my guns from my cold dead hands.

There are a lot of dumb Americans. I personally think that certain aspects of socialism can keep rampant capitalism in check, which is a problem for all but the ultra rich and corporations.

Good luck convincing the average American that socialism works. The average American thinks that a socalist society is worse then hell.

I've been there. My insurance didn't want to pay for an ultrasound even though I had a blood clot that was induced by medication that was reccomend. My little brother is mentally disabled and he is now wheelchair bound for life because the medical industry neglected him.
