Kaffeinated Aura got a reaction from thechinchinsong in Raspberry PI 5 Finally released
Given the increase power this Pi has, It has to be able to run GCN, Wii, and PS2 emulation at full speed. Iirc the Pi 4 was close, but full speed was just out of reach. I'd like to build a small handheld that's dedicated to just emulation. Love my steam deck, but I want something that's smaller and consumes less power.
Also, no way it's already been 4 years since the Pi 4. Time hasn't been the same since 2020.

Probably the only pre-2010 computer tech I have laying around that isn't a cable or console: An Nvidia GeForce 8300 GS. Bought it about a year or 2 ago just out of fascination. To my knowledge, this is the weakest CUDA enabled chip, featuring a whopping eight CUDA cores. 128Mb variant, if anyone's curious.

Kaffeinated Aura reacted to BachChain in The end of a 30-year war - Microsoft claims to have finally solved Windows printer drivers
Summary
Microsoft has announced plans to end support for third-party printer drivers in Windows by 2027. Replacing them will be a single "IPP Class Driver" which utilizes the "Mopria" standard for providing a universal interface for compatible printers and scanners.

My thoughts
About damn time. Although, there's always going to be that one printer that still needs manual drivers for some reason.

That's actually really surprising that it wasn't already! It's like the most Linux-y game ever made (At least in my head, idk if that makes sense)

This looks like a massive improvement in terms of performance.
I think it's a shame that the price has gone up so much though. The target price for the B models has always been 35 dollars, and then some higher-end models for more. Now it starts at 60 dollars?
I doubt some future model with less RAM would drop the price all the way down to 35 dollars either.
While I can appreciate the higher performance, in my mind the Raspberry Pi has always been about being super cheap and "good enough" for various projects. I've always though of the Pi as slow but inexpensive, and other manufacturers and products has filled other niches. With this, the Pi is suddenly fast and expensive.

Kaffeinated Aura got a reaction from Senzelian in SSD not seeing data??
As it turns out, the ssd detected it as a just corrupted recycle bin files. It has been cleaned out from the hdd, which eventually detected it as corrupted.
