  1. Not sure if this shows an issue, but I have three unused single barrel carbs in the garage... Two Fords and a spare Carter for the truck. Funny deal is, I don't even have a Ford to use two of those carbs on.
  2. I would try to pull some of those power cables back down near the PSU and zip tie them down in the bottom of the case... Only leave enough slack to reach where they need to go.
  3. Can you flip the radiator around 180 degrees so the tubes are on the other side of the board? Also, zip ties are great at getting stubborn cables closer in to the back of the case...
  4. Nah, the reservoir has a cap, but I was busy bleeding the brake and clutch when the photo was taken. As it stands with the brakes though, I'm tempted to try and convert the fronts from Drums to Discs...
  5. Best photo of the engine I have at the moment... Honestly, the price of the truck couldn't be beat. It had been sitting in a friends yard under some tarps for about 10 to 15 years and they didn't know how to drive a Manual so I got it under the condition that I would get it back into a working condition and drive it as opposed to letting it sit in the woods, slowly rotting away. Stock, brand new, the engine supposedly got 145 HP and 215 lb-ft of torque. The Hyper-Pak variant of the 225 went somewhere around 195 to 200+ HP. Of course, you have to get one that is Pre-1971 as after that, the power dropped off, mainly due to emission controls placed on the engine. http://www.allpar.com/slant6.html
  6. Tempting as the Hemi is, I just can't resist that the Slant 6 is such a bullet proof engine with an awesome nickname. Who doesn't want a 'Leaning Tower of Power'? Plus, I know that Chrysler had looked into some configurations of these involving a 4-BBL Carb and some other tweaks to push it to the most extreme the block could go. I think some aftermarket uses also tossed on a Turbocharger.
  7. Come on, with the 1080Ti SLI, he should be getting the E5 2699 v4, cause MORE CORES. Seriously @Storm10 needs to provide more details about his use case.
  8. Fairly much... I think it was closer to a subjective look of in his opinion while playing games it doesn't provide a noticeably worse gaming experience.
  9. As far as Video Game OST, I would say: Transistor OST Halo 1 thru 3 OST C&C Red Alert OST Otherwise maybe try some: Apocalyptica (Beacuse who doesn't like Metallica on a Cello... Although I like their Rage of Poseidon) Bassnectar
  10. Figured I would toss this in here as this is the Garage Section of the Forum... My summer project (assuming I get a summer). Hoping to work on the below list this summer, but the ultimate goal is getting it into almost new condition. Replace Parking Brake Cable New Summer Tires Re-Align steering Tighten Steering column Add Coolant overflow vacuum container to Radiator Change out Oil and Transmission Fluids Just some basic specs, 1968 Dodge D100 4-speed Manual with 225 slant 6 engine and 8-foot bed. Long term mechanical, I'm hoping to get the engine and transmission rebuilt, swap out the intake and exhaust manifolds and swap out from the 1-BBL Holley Carb to a 2-BBL Carb. Body is in good condition, but there are some holes that need patching and then I want to repaint the body back to the original turquoise color with a white cab roof line. What's everyone's thoughts? Suggestions?
  11. I think AMD does have some responsibility to go to developers as well and explain that they need to have optimizations for their new architecture/hardware. Some developers stop providing any kinds of patches and optimizations after a certain amount of market time has passed for their product. Mainly because they are working on releasing their next iteration. Other times, developers may not realize that their software will have an issue with an architecture change of a this scale.
  12. I think this is WCCFs write up of the test... If this is correct, as a part of the testing, they disabled half of the L3 cache to make it a 4 core 8MB L3 system. Of course as a part of the test, they also set the Clock speeds of the modified R7 and 7700k equivalent, so it is more of an IPC comparison... Intel still has a slight IPC edge (although probably not as comfortable as they would like) and can still reach higher effective clock speeds, which is where the 7700k does shine. http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-4-core-benchmarks-intel-core-i7-7700k/
  13. Or it could mean to aim for the pedestrian crossing here...
  14. Off topic from original thread, but Tech Report in their reviews did a discussion about FPS vs Frame Times and why they look at Frame Times more than FPS figures. (http://techreport.com/review/31546/where-minimum-fps-figures-mislead-frame-time-analysis-shines) Back on topic, I was waiting for someone to take an 8-core Ryzen and begin emulating the 6-core models by disabling cores. The one problem I can think of in this scenario is when you are trying to emulate the 4-core Ryzen by just disabling 4-cores, you're forgetting that the production 4-core chips will be a single CCX and not the dual CCX and therefore the emulated chip is going to have twice as much L3 cache. Although with some of the L3 latency issues that they've had across CCX, that might be a moot point.
  15. With a system like that, I might look at something like a NZXT X52. I think you should have space for a 240mm Rad on the top of the case if that is how you would want to mount it.
  16. I would base this on the amount of case space that you have. An excellent Air Cooler (Noctua NH D15) can operate on par or better than a lot of AIOs but takes up quite a bit of case space. AIOs with 240mm or 280mm Rad allow you the flexibility of moving that cooling solution to somewhere else in the case so you're not blocking the side of your case or RAM DIMM slots. Also can depend on whether your case supports it...
  17. Depending on the version of Windows, it should be able to boot up, although you will probably need to update several drivers as well. The licensing issue is where you'll have a headache. I think if you got a Non-OEM version of Windows or Windows Pro, you should be able to transfer the license across (although you will either need the digital signature associated with a Windows account or Key). Otherwise, you will probably be spending for a new license.
  18. Any compelling reason to stay on DDR3 RAM? Based on the system specs listed, it looks like it is probably a CPU bottleneck, although it could be compounded by newer/faster RAM being used on the 6700...
  19. Wasn't there something last week as well about how Google's own Speech to Text was able to get through their CAPTCHA?
  20. Didn't UK Top Gear race some of these a couple of years ago with great results?
  21. According to the following Ars Technica article, you may see less CAPTCHAs from Google. Apparently Google feels that they have a system that can correctly predict most of who is a bot versus a person and will only ask for a CAPTCHA if it is questionable. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/03/googles-recaptcha-announces-invisible-background-captchas/ I'm okay with doing away with CAPTCHAs but would really like to know how Google is making the determination that I'm not a bot. Is it looking and storing IP and other personal information.
  22. Find someone to go practice driving with, get your license and then look for a vehicle. Makes no sense to have a car if you can't drive it. As for how much to spend, I wouldn't go over $5,000 for a first vehicle. Get a good old (something pre-1990 is perfectly fine) beater of a car (old Toyota pick-ups are great) that way if anything happens, it's not a serious loss of money. You can also then learn basic mechanic skills on the car by performing your own maintenance. One other thing to consider (probably start a controversy on this ) is learning to drive a Manual Transmission before getting an Automatic Transmission. I find that driving a Manual involves having to get a better feel of how the car drives and handles than an Auto.
  23. Probably just build into something that plugs into an onboard USB 2.0 header. I figure most of this can probably be done with some changes in software.
  24. If you have the room in the case, the D15 is an excellent cooler. Otherwise, you can always get the H75 and replace the fans with something quieter if that is an issue.
  25. RAID 0 is mainly used in order to combine multiple drives into a single volume on your system and get some increased read/write performance since the data is being written across multiple drives.
